Absolutely INCREDIBLE meal at Vico! They just opened which speaks volumes of the chef, staff and cooks. This is the new staple in Farmingdale! My fiancé and I had heard this place was new so we decided to check it out after work. I was impressed with the classy and contemporary interior they pulled off in a space that I didn't know existed on Main Street. The inside looks Italian Tyrrhenian and has beautiful coastal photos of the Amalfi shoreline and landscapes. We started with the muscles and they really set you on the right path. The broth was speaking my language- the attention to detail, including the delicate and carefully thin sliced garlic stuck out to me immediately among the other aromatics. The homemade bread on the side was the perfect pairing to be dunked in the well balanced broth and succulent muscles (very fresh!). The meatballs (4) came in a red sauce and were a perfect blend of beef, veal & pork (I believe this was the triple blend I was picking up but I could be wrong). Perfect moisture content, tasted fresh like they were just made and the sauce was supreme. We also had the Sheeps Milk Cheese Filled Agnolotti and I really liked this but it was a completely new flavor profile for my pallet (saffron & honey)! I can't wait to try it again! We also got the fig pizza with caramelized onions and arugula- fresh and damn delicious! The chef also came by and introduced himself. He must have seen how much we were enjoying the meal and he explained the inspiration for the restaurant (my fiancé is Sicilian and really loved the food, ambiance and overall experience) . We got the Almafi pasta and chicken Milanese. Food was not flavored, just very basic and bland. Even the tomatoes didn't have a taste. However, not bad tasting, hence the average review (would have been a 2 if not for the tiramisu, decent cocktail, and mini biscotti that arrived after paying our bill). Restaurant was not as cute or charming as the pictures had me thinking and it was not fancy in person. It had a dive bar feel. Definitely not an Almafi vibe which is why I believe I was disappointed. I did not see one Italian in the kitchen. Based on a Vico instagram video, seemed to be Hispanic cooks which may explain why it didn't seem Italian or authentic. Absolutely amazing service and food ! We strolled in on a Sunday night, wanted to support our local business and community . Husband learned that their is a new place in town, checked it out and said we HAVE to go !!! We were seated right away.. ordered wine , salads, mussels , meals and let's not forget about desert..... everything was absolutely delicious!! Will definitely be back ! Giorgia greeted us and was great to talk to about everything Italy ... Alexa checked on us periodically to see if we needed anything and what can I say about Josephine , she was lovely .... She timed our courses so they weren't rushed .. managed to entice us about deserts and well we didn't say NO.. Met Eric the chef and learned that he will be on the food network next week "Chopped" ! Had dinner here tonight with my girlfriend. Vico has a cute, small interior with a very coastal Italian vibe. We split a calzone for an appetizer and each had a pasta in a pizza bowl topped with burrata for dinner. We both agreed the calzone was incredible (one of the best we've ever had). I got the cacio e pepe pasta and it was disappointing. The pasta was cooked well but it lacked any flavor and tasted like plain pasta in olive oil. We came here for lunch prior and I got the fusilli pasta which was much better. I'd recommend coming to Vico and trying the fusilli pasta and definitely the calzone. read more

Got a very good recommendation from a foodie Facebook group so we drove out to try it. First unless you go with high table expect a small cramped space that even the waitress has a hard time to get to. Sitting down I was waiting for some bread and oil which never came. Very surprised that a place that prides itself making a great dough can't make some bread for the table! Even if you don't want to give it away put on the menu and charge me it would be nice to chew on something while waiting. We got the whipped ricotta which I swear tasted like feta cheese. Menu said it comes with RUSTIC BREAD! I know rustic bread and that wasn't it. They took a flat pizza dough pricked it with a fork and baked it. We also took a small pie for the table and that pizza will have to be ranked very low on a pizza scale. We got 4 pastas, 2 of them in bread bowl I guess Panera bread stole it from the Amalfi coast but at least with Panera you get a real bread here you get white dough with no color and no crust, it was awful. I saw all of the great reviews on this place and was anxious to try it. My family and I stopped in on a Sunday evening and were the only ones in the place. The staff was super friendly and attentive. The owner even came over to say hello and tell us about the place and the menu. We were super excited to try some of the many different offerings. We started off with the Fichi pizza. Figs, caramelized onions, arugula, very good but very sweet. The Polpette, meatballs with not quite enough bread to soak up the sauce but very good. We had another pizza that was similar to Margarita but also had arugula and prosciutto on it, also very good. We ordered the small pizzas which were a great size to share between the 4 of us as appetizers. We were off to a good start. The Polpo E Patate is octopus, potatoes, lemon and white wine. It arrived very dried out. The waitress immediately sent the chef out to talk to us and he prepared another dish for us. This one was not died out but the meat just was not very tender and very chewy. The Ravioli Di Piselli E Prosciutto has potential to be a really good dish but the ravioli and peas were way too aldente for my liking and there was almost no broth on this dish, way too dry. The Agnolotti Di Funghi was good and very rich, a good choice if you like mushrooms. We also tried Gemelli Di Cozze which also had the potential to be great but very bland and needed seasoning. Keep in Mind the plates are on the smaller side so if your going to try the pasta you may need something else to go with it. Overall the food was good but based on the prices and the size of the portions we were slightly disappointed. We enjoyed the pizza, but nothing really wowed me, and I can't say there was anything I would order again. Perhaps we caught them on a bad evening. read more

Simply GREAT! A new small Italian restaurant on Main Street in Farmingdale. It is owned by the same chef/ owner of 317 Main restaurant, next door, which is also a great restaurant! VICO, just opened this week and we were there last night on day 4. Very interesting / creative menu of food and cocktails! When I saw carmelized onions and fig pizza, I didn't need to look any further and it was delicious, as were the other pizzas ordered in my party. My cocktails were creative , fun and absolutely PERFECT! I had the Belvedere and it was amazing and for once had a decent amount of alcohol in it, not stingy ! We ordered the whipped ricotta as an appetizer and it was excellent. The only negative I have is that the whipped ricotta came with 3 bread triangles, which wasn't nearly enough. So we asked if we could have more bread, which they happily brought . When we got the bill , we saw that they charged $5 extra for the bread, which was disappointing . 3 triangles was just not enough to eat the ricotta . Suggestion is just to put more bread triangles in the original presentation . That said, the food was great , the service was friendly and attentive . Staff are eager to help and answer questions about the interesting menu. Staff was also very courteous and did not rush us. Chef is always friendly, involved and present. Makes you feel like it is a personal experience. There also is outdoor seating in front of restaurant and you can park on the street OR in the large parking lot in the back. After a day of home decor shopping in Farmingdale we decided to try Vico for a late lunch. The reviews & pictures were great and I'm so glad we came. The decor is lovely!The beautiful blue tile sets the mood for a relaxing experience. The staff was friendly, welcoming & knowledgeable but the star of the show was the food. We started with the potato croquettes & baby eggplant. Both dishes were just enough to share, fresh & delicious. However, be sure to read the menu carefully ( as reminded by Eric the chef when he visited our table) the peppers in the eggplant are Calabrian chiles!! Spicy & delicious- but be prepared for the light burn! The entrees we chose were the ravioli & Branzino. Both delicious and well presented. My only critique was the portion size of the ravioli- fine for lunch but quite small for a dinner entree. To round it off we even had dessert! Initially we ordered the lemon drop crema to share but once Eric visited our table again & described the chocolate cake as a chocolate torte- we had to try it. Decadent & delicious ( and to our pleasant surprise on the house) The lemon crema was refreshing & light. Excellent ending to a delicious meal. We look forward to coming again for cocktails! There was a slight hiccup with the online order as their system had to reboot but they were on top of it and the food still came out within a minute of the scheduled time. I ordered the pulopo entree and it was excellent. It's lemony so if that's not your jam I wouldn't recommend it. The octopus was tender and flavorful. We got a salad that actually had recently thawed frozen cherry tomatoes instead of fresh. Not sure who they thought they were fooling. Unbelievable. We got pasta that was cold and had some ground beef and some kind of broccolini stems in it. We also got meatball pizza that was less than average. Wine selections by the glass were described by the wait person as the best In the Almalfi coast area but were low end selections available at most any grocery store. Just really disappointed that the food was described as originating from Vico area within the Amalfi coast and the food is no where near authentic Italian. Terrible really. Food and service from this little Italian Naples Sorrento eatery is fantastic from all their pizza's to their main entrees! Cocktails are spot on! As an appetizer you must try their meatballs, They are great! Their sauce is true and pure just as a San marzanno tomato sauce should be. I also recommend trying any of their specials. I had the seafood and monk fish dish that was spiced just right and to die for. Desserts are homemade and delicious, even the biscotti's they give you for free with your dessert and coffee are an old family recipe passed down from the owners aunt. My friend and I ended up at Vico last minute on Friday and we absolutely loved it! It was our first time here.You just cannot beat homemade pasta - especially here. I travel to Italy often and the homemade pasta was comparable to some of the dishes I've had throughout both Northern and Southern Italy. I only got a picture of my pasta - the stuffed Agnolotti but everything else was also amazing! They give you warm focaccia bread for the table which is a great added touch. My friend got the spaghetti and mushroom with porcini dish which was served in a homemade bread bowl. Our table had a direct view of the kitchen and it was absolutely spotless. Our meal ended with a visit from Chef Eric; he always checks in on his customers every time I am at 317 Main and he co to use that tradition right next door. He is so personable! I enjoyed my dinner. It was a delightful experience visiting Vico for the first time. They have a creative menu which was a nice change from the usual Italian eateries found on Long Island. I ordered the whipped ricotta cheese appetizer that came with rustic bread. My husband and I shared it and we still had leftover. It tasted as good as it looked. I had the branzino for my main course and it was perfectly cooked and accompanied by broccoli rabe and roasted cherry tomatoes. Simple delicious food. I loved that the food wasn't overly salted which is again, very typical of most Italian restaurants. My husband had a large pork chop parmigiana. Their house wines by the glass are Italian. My server asked what wine I usually drink, (Cabernet,) and she suggested a wine similar that was quite nice. Our server, Kayla' was attentive and most accommodating, especially after my husband dropped an olive oil carafe onto his pretty bread plate and broke the plate. I would recommend a visit to Vico. I was looking to try their food for a while now, living in the village I'm always looking to test out places along Main Street and Vico caught my eye from day one! The aesthetic of the place is much different and unique from anything Farmingdale has had before, making it a pleasant addition to the strip. They even have a fresh herb garden outside of the restaurant. I decided to order the Family package take out which was an amazing deal! You get so much food for $30 you can not go wrong with that. The food was delicious and you can tell just from looking at it that it's made fresh. The pizza was baked to perfection and you could really taste the freshness of the ingredients. The crust was also delicious and the perfect texture. The Pasta alla Vodka was incredible the sauce was very flavorful and rich and the pasta was cooked perfectly Al dente, tastes so fresh! The texture of the pasta was incomparable to anything I've had before, just perfect! The Caesar salad was phenomenal too, I truly loved the dressing it had so much flavor and just complimented the salad so well. Plus the portions were amazing at such a reasonable price, my whole picky family was very satisfied. Service was also punctual. Been here twice - Overall above a 3 but not a 4. While the wait staff is extremely polite and friendly, their lack of experience is evident especially on slower nights. The cocktail choices are very good but the pizzas are just ok. Not wood fire finish but "no flop". Recommend at least trying once but many other choices for a traditional Neapolitan pizza. read more
