Slow service. Okay food but really expensive for the portions and the atmosphere ( has a bit of a cafeteria feel to it with the food bell ringing all the time ). And I'm about 95% sure they served pork to my wife when she ordered chicken ( doesn't eat pork ). When we asked the server about it he denied it and said he'd check but then didn't even take the meat on the plate for the chef to see so that he could accurately answer. Our dishes all came out at different times, with up to 5 minutes between them being served. I won't be back and don't recommend them. There's better Vietnamese food nearby. If I HAD to go back, I would only order the Pho as that was decent flavor/size/price, but expect it to take 25 minutes to get your food. read more

Just left this place with more than a full stomach. We are from San Jose and was passing through when I Yelp for a Vietnamese restaurant nearby. We come in and were seated shortly. We ordered a few things from the menu. My kids are picky and for the most part I tries to have them share a order. The food took a lot longer that it should for pho. I got one order of shrimp roll (you cant mess this up) and pork chop for other daughter. I did try the bbq pork chop which not bad. The pho was so salty and the aroma of spices ( anise & cinnamon ) were way too strong. I had to ask for a cup of hot water to dilute it and it was still super salty without adding any hoisin sauce. I get that the client base is different out here but I can honesty say that the amount of sodium is unsafe. Not to mention they list that "no msg added" but doesn't mean that any of the seasoning or bouillon already have them. Which I did taste in the pho. This rating isn't based on the service or food. It was the bill and their unethical practice. I always review the check just in case and the bill and the tip was added twice. $37 for a bill of $100 was not 18%. We asked to get that removed which she blamed the computer for the error. Fine. What really ticked me off is that they charge $17 for rice and pork chop. It's listed $9.75/ small and $11.75/large. I didn't realized it until I left and I'm writing this review immediately. read more

We dropped in as Gajin Ramen was in between serving. Glad we did. The food was excellent, the ambiance comfortable and the service good. The owner/chef spent a good amount of time discussing his history, culinary approach and plans for the future. It was a charming experience. The BBQ pork is nothing but delicious. Still savoring the sauce. This pork just screams for a Bahn Mi being added to the menu. The Pho, carried by a sophisticated and complex broth (simmered for some 15 hours), is up there with the best we've had locally. We've spent time in Vietnam; our standards are high. The fried gyoza appetizers were solid, though we prefer the steamed version. The accompanying sauce, with its accent of Vietnamese mint made the dish pop. The dumplings didn't last long. In all no complaints. We were pleased both with the food and pricing. We plan to return and try other dishes. Tucked away behind Starbucks off the 116 at the southern end of Sebastopol, its worth a visit. read more

Just opened, and we went to check it out. Menu needs some organizing, but the food was good. We asked for a special order for the kids- noodles with stir fried vegetables and not-spicy shrimp, and they kindly did this for us, and it was very good, even the picky kid ate a hearty helping. We got the spring roll appetizer- good, though the peanut sauce was a bit bland. I got a 'goi' salad- which I really liked. Husband got kimchee lettuce wraps- which he liked (it was very spicy). Thai iced tea- was yummy. Presentation was fine. Wall decor is soothing lily pad like light fixtures. Staff was attentive. Will go again definitely! Looking forward to trying take-out. read more

Based on the positive reviews, I was really looking forward to a delicious bowl of spicy beef pho at a Vietnamese restaurant located closer to home. A Vietnamese friend had invited my husband and me to a wonderful lunch of beef pho at her house and we loved it. I wasn't expecting the pho at the restaurant to be nearly as good as hers but nothing like this. The soup was bland and there were hardly any noodles and beef in it. It didn't come with any garnish such as spearmint, cilantro, Thai basil, bean sprouts, hot chiles or lime wedges. I asked the waiter for garnish and was told it was already in the soup which wasn't the case. My neighbor ordered the chicken noodle soup and thought it was just okay. I'm not sure if I would go back to this restaurant again. I rather drive 15 more minutes to Kettles Vietnamese Bistro in Santa Rosa for a more authentic and delicious bowl of spicy beef pho noodle soup. read more

We had a wonderful dinner at Lua Viet. The menu has some Vietnamese favorites such a Pho, Vermicelli and rice plates, but also has some fusion items that we greatly enjoyed. The Spicy Beef Kimchee lettuce wraps were tasty as were the "tacos". We particularly loved the Chow Fun Noodles with Peanut Sauce and Barbecued Pork. The service was good and we enjoyed eating outside on a warm evening. Highly recommend Lua Viet if you are in the mood for some fresh and delicious Vietnamese food. read more

They use high quality meats so, yes the price may be a bit higher than other Vietnamese restaurants but I have yet to find any better tasting food and I know I am getting excellent quality. Ok The truth . Loved the people. Loved the effort . I really want them to succeed . However the food was a bit mediocre. The sea food noodle Pho did not have a lot of sea food. The spring rolls were mainly rice. The service was as good as possible but there were too few servers and certainly too few cooks for an American clientele . I really want this business to make it to Sebastopol but please do increase the staff and the food quality . Good luck . This place is a gift to Sebastopol!! The food is so fresh tasting. It is the best pho we have ever had. We also like the Goi and lots of other things on the menu.
