It was late and we were in the mood for pho! Vietopia Bistro in Draper saved the day by being open until 9PM! So we hustled and made it over there with plenty of time to sit and enjoy our food without staying past closing. I left with mixed feelings... The food was okay but the rest of the experience wasn't great. The kid at the front was on his phone with AirPods in and didn't notice us when we first walked in. When the calamari arrived at the table, we laughed a little because it literally looked like it had been thrown on the plate. And the pho left a bit to be desired. However, it did curb our pho cravings and we were grateful they were open later than other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. But I probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

The service was horrible from the moment we walked in, I asked if they were open because no one was there. I wasn't sure if they were their break or not, and the guy standing in the kitchen looked at me like I was dumb for even asking pointing at the door like "well you walked in here" type of energy. It was also dirty at the entrance which should've been the key point in leaving and not even eating in the first place then I would've saved my self $60. Honestly this place was disgusting I found not one but 3 hairs between two phos. The pho on top of that was lukewarm which can't be safe if they're putting raw meats with it right ? The meatballs were also the worst I've ever had in all the Vietnamese restaurants I've been to in SLC. The rice and orange chicken were hard and the fries were soft like it had all just been sitting out and they only had the courtesy of reheating it for us. read more

I got the deconstructed filet banh mi. It came with a sliced filet in a dipping sauce with eggs and veggies on top. I was surprised at how much I loved it. I made sure to get every drop of the sauce. The guy behind the counter was very helpful to walk me through the menu. read more

They have opened this new location recently and I'm very glad to have another amazing bistro place near home! The restaurant is pretty big, at the back of the restaurant the tables have beautiful view of the valley. The service was slow, but the young gentleman who was serving us was very new and was going through training. We tried 4 different items and all of them were delicious. The portion size was good and ever dish had enough meats/seafoods. Very clean restaurant with abandoned parking spots at the front. Will definitely come back to try out their other dishes. read more

Ok.... Mixed review here. Pretty good food. But, not very clean. Definitely lacking an opening and closing check list. I was first customer and bathroom had been attended to. Front door is down right filthy. That being said, Hot and spicy soup is 5 stars! Spring roll had old dry pork so I didn't eat it. Pho was really authentic tasting. Service is good and Very friendly. Finally...a Pho restaurant close to my home here in south Sandy! Excellent! On a whim, I did a recent search for Pho as I was having a craving for the soup. Suddenly this place came up at the site of a former Thai restaurant...and minutes from my home. I met my wife here and we had a very nice experience (we were the only ones in the restaurant besides our server, Henry N, and the kitchen staff. My wife had the #7A Fried Crab Rangoon appetizer and the #40R House Special Combination Rice Platter...and she enjoyed both (I thought maybe Vietnamese food would be too spicy for her for some reason...) I started with the #2A Spring Rolls and peanut dipping sauce...and had the #19P Rare Steak and Meatball Pho! Yum! Henry refilled the pepper oil with some more oil (my favorite hot sauce) and my spring rolls were delish. The soup didn't have the "typical" (?) Pho flavor but was still very good, and after throwing all of the bean sprouts and Asian basil leaves in the mix, and adding some of the pepper oil and what is similar to Hoisin sauce, my soup was perfect. What really surprised me was the green chilis (Bird's Eye chilis...or "ot hiem"...literally, "dangerous chili") sliced into rings there on the side. Those were some hot peppers! Probably the hottest I've ever had with Pho. I only could eat about half of these bad boys as they were indeed too hot for even my palate...and I love hot peppers! Dang! So, a very nice dinner there and some great service from Henry N made it a nice experience. We hope to be back soon for some more delicacies and hope that Vietopia thrives. Tried this place for the first time and I thought it was ok in general. The rare steak pho was ok, I have had better at other restaurants. The pho bowl and condiments were substantial and filling. My daughter's House Special Combination plate was a lot as well. Her plate was a huge portion of white rice with a fried egg, grilled pork, shrimps, an egg roll and a large salad, accompanied by Nước Chấm. The pork, shrimp and veggies on her plate were very good. One factor that made me take some stars off is the condition of the bathroom. It was very filthy. The dining area doesn't look as bad. When you first walk in, the place smelled like the bathroom. We were on a time crunch so we decided to still give it a try. We got a rice dish and a pho dish. The meat was terrible. It had a crumbly texture and a weird taste. The pho was also disappointing, soggy noodles and watered down soup. The place was not busy at the time we went, around 5, but it took way too long to get out order in, get our food and our check. When we went to the restrooms, there were no soap or paper to wash and your hands! This was in both men and women bathrooms. This was a definite no for us. I don't leave a lot of food reviews, but feel like I need to here. I eat Pho regularly and must say that the pho here was a huge disappointment. My wife and I ordered two bowls of Pho Tai (Rare beef). First, the pho bowls were small(child portion). For $13.95, I was shocked how small the portion was. Then the herb plates were also small and not fresh. To me, the fresh herbs plate make pho so aromatic and satisfying like a savory tea soup base. The basil looks like it had sat in the fridge for a long time (many leaves were dead and black) and the bean sprouts were brown and wilting. The cut limes had obviously been sliced previously as the wedges were dried out. By the look of the herbs plate, it looked like it had been prepared and placed in a refrigerator for scale and easy removal. I was shocked that our waitress even brought it out to us. Perhaps she's never seen fresh basil or bean sprouts before? I felt bad as the restaurant was clearly understaffed too. There was one person cooking and one person trying to deal with customers and takeout orders. With so many great places in town to get delicious pho, this place is not one of them. Maybe the other cooked dishes are better but the pho is not good. It's unfortunate this beautiful restaurant cannot deliver on one of the staples of Vietnamese cuisine. read more

Somehow I've never seen this place tucked away in the Walmart Neighborhood Market parking lot. We were in the mood for some pho, and jumped on yelp to see if there was any nearby. I'd never heard of Vietopia before so when I saw it was less than a mile from my house, we had to try it. We ordered takeout and it was ready in 15 min. When I went to pick it up, Calais was really nice, friendly and helpful. Not many people inside, but it might be because the place is pretty new and the previous restaurant (cafe Trang) had been in that space for a long time, so it's gone a little unnoticed. The food was great! Pho was full of flavor and I was happy that even the takeout was made so you could put the rare steak in the broth to cook to your liking. I preferred the rare steak to the cooked brisket or the meatball. We also ordered the house noodles with chicken, it was loaded with chicken and veggies Im a rich sauce, which we devoured as well. The spring rolls were super fresh and delicious, but we only had one piece of shrimp between the two rolls, so that could be improved on. Will definitely go back and eat in the restaurant next time and try a few more things on the menu. So happy to have a great Vietnamese/Pho place so close to home. If you're in the south end of the Salt Lake Valley, give them a try! read more

I don't know if our server was new or having a bad day, but we will probably not be going back as a result of this gentleman. We went in around 11:45, got seated then looked over the menu. When our waiter came by to get our drink order I asked a couple questions about the menu and the waiter looked at me like I was dumb for asking a question. I brushed it off, who knows I could have asked a redundant question. But when he came back and asked for our orders again was dismissive and acted like I was somehow offending him by giving him my order. Low key I was stunned that I was having an interaction like this with a server. So, I asked if a manager was on staff. He said no and walked away, when he brought our food by I asked for the managers number. He went and wrote the managers number down, after I pressed him for the managers number he was friendlier... the rest of the time. I contemplated calling the manager, but ultimately I decided to chop it up to a possible language barrier or a bad day. I'm writing this review so other people can be informed. read more

We stopped by for lunch - curious to see what replaced café Treng. My mom and I both got the sandwich which was one of the best Vietnamese sandwiches I've had. Hands down the worst banh mi I've ever had, terrible bread and a tiny portion of meat and that was all that was on it, just meat and bread. The egg rolls were the size of a crayon and flavorless, and the house special noodle was bland. The smoothie even tasted like they accidentally made a coffee in the cup first. read more

Not nearly as good as Cafe Trang that used to be here. I'm really sad they sold the place. Cafe Trang was run by Chinese and Vietnamese, you could tell by the taste. When we walked into Vietopia today all of the cooks and servers were Hispanic and the food doesn't taste like authentic Asian food at all. Much too sweet, American ingredients, weird textures.
