How much did I actually pay?
    Steffi K.

Diagonally across the US Post Office behind Main St, Huntington, NY, is the Village Bagel Cafe. I don't live in the area, but, was running errands, there, and thought to save a trip to my usual, local, bagel place, so, I went in. The six bagels and one flagle, themselves, cost about $11, which is a little pricey, but, the bagels were large (oddly, they had no holes; just depressions), so, I suppose, I was getting more for my money, and they tasted good, too (not great; above average; denser than most (okay by me), but, lacking in flavor (the mixed bagels were two each of onion, sesame, and cinnamon raisin)). I put $1 in the tip jar for the harried clerk, who had just finished large orders for two people before me (5 min wait), and she treated me very well: politely, friendly, and patiently. I asked for the receipt (not automatically given), thanked her, and left (3 people behind me; took about three mins to process my order). When I got home, I got sticker shock from the receipt: On top of the $11 for the bagels were a 30 cent credit card usage fee and a $2.20 "tip," which I had mistaken for "tax" (no bagel store had ever charged me for tax, but, I didn't think about it at the time). So, I was charged about 17% extra without having been told about either fee. Granted, it's becoming more common to charge credit card fees, which is unfortunate, especially since many establishments are trying to avoid cash for obvious reasons, but, keep in mind, I gave a tip before realizing that one was foisted on me. Any business short of a 5-star restaurant should not automatically impose a tip on its customers, and they - - if you'll forgive the glib phrasing - - should 'eat' the credit card fee. Again, both were charged without my knowledge. Now, look at the receipt. In H-U-G-E print, it shows ONLY the price for the goods, which I thought I was paying for. In eensy-weensy-tiny-barely-can-see print are the other charges, which I didn't notice until I got the credit card bill. That should be illegal, if not immoral. Those absurd charges and the "trick" receipt cost them a star. Totally unnecessary, and very off-putting. I won't be back.

SO GOOD!!! Scott is super friendly & attentive, and the owner Madina and her family are also so sweet! Definitely a regular from now on, glad to pass this by on the village :) also tastes super fresh!

Messiness on counters where we're suppose to grab our coffee.

There were toddlers and preschoolers in the restaurant with their families, so I asked the waitress to please change the channel. She looked at me like I was crazy and told me that she didn't understand what my problem was. I explained that there were graphic photos of people and crime scenes that aren't suitable for children, or really anyone else trying to enjoy their meal. That issue non-withstanding, I still don't think Over Easy is worth choosing over Hatch or Munday's. The wait for us was 20 minutes, which is the same for pretty much every other place in Huntington. It's also very small, so as a result the tables are extremely close together. We were seated in the middle of the floor, with waitstaff passing through very frequently on both sides. We had to constantly tuck ourselves in and watch our backs to avoid getting an elbow in the face. Our food tasted alright, but there were several issues. We both got variations of eggs benedict. I got the avocado BLT benedict, with avocado, tomato, arugula, bacon, and hollandaise on top of ciabatta. It tastes good, and I especially liked how orange and healthy the poached egg yolk was. However the ciabatta was pretty badly burnt. My boyfriend got the "classic" eggs benedict, which was served over toasted sourdough bread. This bread was ridiculous, over an inch thick and impossible to cut through without shaking the table and making a crummy mess. I would've thought the classic eggs benedict would be eggs with Canadian bacon over an English muffin; this one was just not the best.

No nonsense... just good brunch to order. Tables seem to be available every time I have visited…read more I usually gear towards their eggs Benedict. Good hot coffee!

We were seated within 20 seconds. It was a lovely day outside, so we decided to eat outside. First off, our server, I did not get his name, was absolutely incredible. Super chill dude. He took out orders, and it seemed like no time had passed before our orders arrived. One of us had the biscuits salmon. One of us had an omelette with a side of greens and I had the backyard burger. All 3 items were just wow. We all exclaimed that we had never had amazing food like this ever. The food was piping hot, fresh, and out of this world... Secondly, if you're an animal lover (specifically dogs), this place is amazing. We saw so many dogs (many of them service animals), and some of them were just household pets, so we got to pet them. The hostess asked if we were celebrating anything, and when we told her it was our anniversary, she surprised us with a handwritten card waiting at our table that read, "Happy Anniversary! Thank you for celebrating your milestone with us." It was such a thoughtful gesture that immediately made us feel genuinely welcomed. The waterfront setting is absolutely stunning. We timed our reservation perfectly for sunset, and between the sailboats, glowing sky, and beautifully lit trees, it felt like something out of a movie. The outdoor patio is one of the most beautiful dining settings I've experienced on Long Island. We started with the crab cake, which was packed with fresh lump crab and lightly seasoned so the quality of the seafood really shined. The crispy exterior paired perfectly with the creamy remoulade. Every bite was delicious. The service was attentive, friendly, and never rushed. Our server made sure everything was perfect throughout the evening, and every staff member we encountered helped make our celebration feel special. It's rare to find a restaurant that combines exceptional food, incredible views, outstanding service, and genuine hospitality so effortlessly. Prime Steakhouse delivered on all of it. We'll absolutely be back, and I can't recommend it enough for a date night, anniversary, or any special occasion. Thank you to the entire team for making our anniversary so memorable. It was incredibly chewy, with no intramuscular fat, a light sear, and absolutely zero of the beefy intensity you'd expect from dry-aged steak. I cooked better shit as a 24-year-old bachelor buying $4 steaks from King Kullen. With almost no effort and $20, I would have destroyed this. Do better, especially if you're going to charge what you do. See the attached photo. It looks like tuna, but that's the steak. Also yea I ate it all bc I'm fat and it cost 80 bucks, not because it was good.

Warm and melty, it wasn't like any of these greasy, wet, fat covered offerings from other delis or breakfast shops around the island. Or that I've had in NY in general. They chopped the bacon, which let's be serious here, is the only way to do it. Eggs were fluffy, light. Cheese was nothing short of smoked magnificence. But the pièce de résistance, the glue that brings your taste buds to their knees, the tots. If you don't like tots, you're wrong. And these tots were somehow crispy and soft. No oil, no sog. The chipotle sauce brings it all home and then they grill the whole damn thing and serve it to you on a platter of gold and diamonds. At least that's how it felt. Do I recommend this? We got the butternut squash which sounded very fancy on the menu but was just butternut squash with a piece of fried prosciutto stuck in each portion on top of cacio e pepe sauce which by the way was broken. We also got what we thought was going to be artichokes on a bed of arugula but was mostly arugula with a few small pieces of artichoke and some pistachios. It was bland, definitely needed some vinegar or lemon or something. Not worth the price, I could have thrown that together myself at home. We also had the spinach/pear salad. Again, I could have made that at home. I got the lemon shrimp linguine. I liked the pasta, I liked the sauce, I did not like the shrimp that came with it. They were tiny and maybe boiled, just not great. We also had the ravioli. One big extremely dense ravioli, raviolo or whatever a singular one is technically called. It was ok but so dense and rich. We also had the bolognese. Not the best. For the prices we paid we expected greatness. We each had dessert. So for the 3 of us the bill came to almost $300 with tip. I personally felt like the service did not warrant the tip but we left it anyway. We weren't checked on, we had to wait a long time to get the bill and we paid by phone app. The service wasn't great.
