There is a small note at the bottom of Virtù Honest Craft's dinner menu saying that, with 48 hours' notice and a minimum of six people, the kitchen will prepare a whole suckling pig dinner. That tiny note is one of the great understatements in Scottsdale dining. What it really means is: bring people you like, clear your calendar, abandon moderation, and prepare for a full-scale feast. Eight of us booked it. At $200 per person before alcohol, and with a wine list good enough to encourage thoroughly defensible excess, this is not a casual dinner. But the first board hit the table and any concern about value disappeared. The charcuterie spread looked less like an appetizer and more like the catering plan for a small celebration: ribbons of prosciutto, mortadella, salami, sweet and spicy sausages, imported buffalo mozzarella, piles of cheeses, fruit, nuts, grilled peppers glossed with olive oil, toasted bread, and a large bowl full of premium Italian cheese made from the milk of Mediterranean water buffaloes - true "bufala." We barely made a dent in it. The single best bite I had all night may have been the simplest: bread, buffala, those peppers, and a generous fold of prosciutto. Salty, creamy, sweet, smoky, rich. One of those bites that shuts down conversation for a moment. Then came the pasta course: huge paccheri, almost obscenely generous, cooked exactly right and coated in a deep, meaty sauce that tasted as though it had been simmering all day for this exact purpose. There were grilled sausages too, plus a warm, fiery n'duja condiment that made an already indecent meal even more indecent. And then there was the arugula salad - simple, sharp, properly dressed, shaved with parmigiano, somehow good enough that later, when we went around the table naming favorite bites of the night, more than one person picked the salad. That tells you something important: this was not just abundance. This was abundance with standards. Then the pig arrived. Whole. Burnished. Beautiful. The skin was the kind of thing people spend years chasing and almost never find: not merely crisp, but shatteringly, absurdly crisp - paper-thin, glassy, almost like caramelized lacquer. Underneath was luscious, fatty, slow-roasted pork that managed to be rich without losing its structure. Put a piece of that skin on top of a little meat and rendered fat and the effect is almost unfair: the greatest pork imaginable riding on the greatest cracker ever made. The potatoes alongside were outrageous - roasted to that perfect point where the edges are savage and the interiors go soft, clearly acquainted with pork fat and every blessing it can bestow. The greens held their own. Nothing on the platter felt like an obligation. Everything deserved to be there. By then the table was already wrecked in the happiest possible way, and yet dessert still came out in what felt like a parade: chocolate - the sticky toffee kind, butterscotch budino, gelati, and more sweets than eight people had any business facing after everything that preceded them. It was excessive, theatrical, and completely in keeping with the meal. The kitchen had chosen its thesis early - pleasure without apology - and saw it through to the end. What made this dinner memorable was not just the scale, though the scale was frankly ridiculous. We all left with full bags of leftovers, each one loaded with containers from different courses, and it still felt as though the meal could have fed another full table. Plenty of restaurants can overwhelm you with quantity. Very few can do it while making each component feel like the best version of itself. The mozzarella. The peppers. The pasta. The salad. The pig skin. The potatoes. The luxurious pudding. Nothing felt like filler. Nothing felt mailed in. This meal felt like Thanksgiving, Easter, a wedding dinner, and a fiftieth anniversary feast all rolled into one, then tightened up by a kitchen that knows exactly what it is doing. It was glorious, yes, but more importantly it was precise. If you have six to eight people who genuinely love to eat, book the whole suckling pig dinner at Virtù Honest Craft. It is one of the great shared feasts I have ever had anywhere. It's my new death penalty meal. read more

Came here for Valentines Dinner. Wanted to try something different and this does do all the justice. Upon entrance, you clearly feel you are in some place in Europe. It is so rustic and phenomenal. Since it was a Pre-Fix menu for Valentine's day, it was spectacular. You were greeted with a rose and were seated at your table. The weather was perfect and our table was nestled amongst shrubs and flowers. Quite idealistic for the day/evening. Reservations are def a must here and getting in here is quite a task so book in advance! Having said that, the staff is lovely and friendly and very spot on with whatever was required and recommended the best of the best with a limited menu. Upon seating, we were presented with a complimentary sparkling Rose, which was amazing. We ordered other drinks as well, French 75 and Old fashioned. Given it was a pre-fixe menu, you could choose your entree and dessert. The rest of the dishes were mentioned and provided. Everything from the Amuse bouche to the desserts were spectacular! The highlights: 1) If you are into sparkling rose, do get it, else the French 75 is classic! 2) The Bluefin tuna, very rich in flavor and gives that umami flavor of the beets. 3) The duck is outstanding, but the seabass also is a great option. 4) Btwn the Crepe and Sticky toffee, this stick toffee wins the show, it feels like a warm hug on a cold day!! Do not miss out on it. Wouldnt forget the Intermezzo - its sharp and delicate at the same time, and gives a nice twist between flavors of the rest of the dishes.. i would def pair that before the dessert because of the richness of the desserts! My husband and I have such a fondness for Virtù because it was the restaurant we went to for our wedding anniversary! We had such a wonderful time, and have enjoyed the menus since then! 6 years later, we can enjoy their brunch menu with our little one. It was an absolutely beautiful Sunday morning when we visited yesterday. We had great service and got to really bask in the lovely al fresco. We had lovely service with Maria. It had been a while since we had brunch after they had taken it away last year. And I was surprised - portions were huge! They don't have regular coffee anymore - even as French press of anything. I ordered a cappuccino which was very nice! It went great with the croissant. For our brunch, my husband ordered the double stack burger which came with season fries and pickles on the side. I ordered the ham and gruyere crepe - it was massive, but I got to share with my hubby and baby. And for the table, we ordered the French Toast, so good and the apples were nice and sweet. There is no kid's menu, but I didn't remember them having one when we were previously here. It was fine anyway since we all shared our plates and that's what we often do anyway. For dessert, since i was already full from everything, I got a complimentary affogato for my birthday! It was a much needed caffeine boost and very good! The pork chop and scallops were amazing. Absolutely delicious. The Malbec by the glass was wonderful. Wasn't very romantic as advertised, as tables are close together and the restaurant is noisy. We wanted to take our time as this was a special occasion. The waitress was pressuring us to order. We asked if she was in a hurry to turn the table and she said reservations are allowed 2 hours. It's not too dressy but a nice business casual attire works. Weather was perfect on this evening. So we grabbed outdoor seats. They have fixed price menu options along with ala carte as well. We opted for fixed price for a 4 course meal. They had soup, appetizers, main course and a dessert. Service was great. Food was phenomenal. Grilled octopus was our favorite of the night. Lamb shank was huge. I wish it had less olives. I am not a fan of olives. The flavor of olive was very over powering. I wish I had ordered something else for my entree. Really enjoyed the food last night. Was here with 10 work colleagues. We all ordered the chef course dinner but ate family style for the starters. The grilled octopus and hamachi crudo were fantastic. Shared the tomahawk with a couple of others which was fantastic. We have reservations that we had to guarantee with a credit card for 7/8. Paper sign on the door says they are on vacation and won't reopen until 7/9?? We even got a reminder from Open Table. Phone is disconnected. Contact email on web site gives error message. To top it off we were unable to cancel and therefore unable to make any other open table reservations while still reserved here No response to the voice mails I've left. EDIT: Finally saw a woman and kids through the window the next day (today) She said her husband would call me about this when he was off another call. It's been 4 hours and I've heard nothing. This is such a disappointment. I'm not sure I'd suggest anyone going to this restaurant. If you take a chance, try to verify your reservations. Open Table will tell you to contact the restaurant. Made a reservation but we are bar people and sat there since it was open. We shared the salad, pacheri, and scallops. Each dish was so flavorful and fresh. We always celebrate family occasions with a few close friends...who happen to be incredible Chefs. This year we added to our family Chef Gio Osso and OMG....!!! I feel like I have been so neglectful all these years! Incredible service by Bradley and the food was stellar. Signature charred octopus (lemon chick peas, arugula, fennel, calabrian chile butter) and radicchio began the feast with scallops and smoked duck breast stepping in as incredible mains. The menu this night had changed incorporating current seasonal veggies. The care that goes into the prep and finishing these dishes is just amazing. We took a few bites home so that we could save some room for Sticky Toffee Chocolate and the Chef Sweet Treat which was a grilled peach with accompanying blueberries and ice cream. First time coming here, I mostly went with the most popular items of the restaurant and what it is famous for but unfortunately they were all disappointing. The service and ambiance were great. You get a european vibe outdoors and our server was very polite and professional. However starting with the appetizer, we got the famous octopus dish, the Polpo, which is one of the famous dishes here. The dish presentation was odd, it looked as if the octopus was attacked by a shark before it was served. The seasoning on the octopus was minimal, there was a side on the side but it wasn't really fitting the dish. And the octopus itself was definitely overcooked because it was not tasting like anything. For the main course, we got the bistecca tagliata, which is their 40 oz tomahawk. This was also very underwhelming because the chimichurri on it was so thick it felt more like a paste than a sauce. The steak from the outside, and the flavour of the steak was partly masked because of that. There wasn't seasoning on the steak, there was a sauce one side that could add some to it but that is it. The other problem with the steak was that when it was served to us, there was a lot of blood dripping from one side of it to the point where it made the table dirty. I really think this is very off putting and I do have experience with medium rare tomahawk, usually they will clean that blood before serving it. The dessert that we ordered, Budino was the only item that was acceptable but there is nothing unique about it. I started with the charred octopus which was very tastey and my wife stated with the charred asparagus also good but the only appertizer that appealed to her. i had the pork chop, tastey but not very tender and my wife had the rigottoni pappadelle very good. We skipped dessert as there was nothing on the menu that either of us found appealling. So the place was appealling the food good, and for others it may be a great place, but we wont be coming back. Virtu was on my list for so long that I had no idea what to expect when we finally went this past weekend. Unlike the rest of Old Town, parking was easy and we got a spot right in front of the restaurant. We were seated on the patio and I think this is the way to go here. I never went inside but every time a door opened, it seemed very loud. Plus, the patio is adorable and romantic. We did the prix fixe tasting menu and I definitely recommend it. The amuse was a cannellini bean soup that was an impressive start. My salmon crudo was fantastic and a bigger portion than I was expecting. The lemon sorbet palate cleaner was just perfect. My sea bass was perfectly prepared and expertly seasoned. Husband was equally pleased with his duck. We ordered the mesquite noodles outside of our tasting menu choices because we were curious and I'm glad we did - it was interesting and yummy. Desserts were also a standout. Service was pretty relaxed and we started to get worried about getting out in time to make an 8 pm show but we let our server know and they made sure to get us out of there on time. They refused to make accommodations for us and basically kicked us out with elderly grandparents with us. The manager was incredibly rude. Virtù Honest Craft was recommended to me by a co-worker. I arrived shortly after they opened and sat at the bar drinking in all the sights and sounds. I thought it was a very quaint, peaceful ambiance. The food was absolutely amazing. I ordered this lovely pasta dish that was surprisingly flavorful and light. It had this pesto cream sauce that defied expectation. It was glorious. The cocktails were amazing! The Ice Queen was delicious - bright, tantalizing, and frothy. It was a cocktail I could have drunk forever. One thing I felt uncertain with was the service. There was a couple sitting at the bar when I entered who the bartender was cheerily talking to whereas with me all joy drained from his face every time he talked with me. After the couple left I mentioned how I never had Amaro before as I was considering ordering one for a digestif. The bartender initially gave no recommendations and was largely dismissive saying it wasn't for everyone. Figuring he just wasn't wanting anything to do with me I closed my tab and then that's when he gave me a small tasting of Amaro. Maybe I just misread the bartender but I was quite unsure. The amuse portion was a delightful chilled asparagus bisque, then we had the polpo and asparagi. Both were phenomenal. Best octopus we've ever had, but the asparagus had us both in awe. Intermezzo of lemon sorbet was lovely and refreshing. The pork chop plate was incredible. And so was the chocolate toffee cake. Service was great. Came here for a date night with my husband and had a great time! This place is tucked in next to the Bespoke Inn in old town. We parked in a lot across the street. There are lots of tables outside and the courtyard is very quaint and intimate. For the first course, we tried the polpo, the pate, and the manzo. All of them were delicious! My husband ordered a pasta from the bonus pasta course (the sarde), which I wasn't as excited about (it tasted like something we could make at home and needed some acid to brighten it up). For the next course, we had the Bistecca Tagliata (tomahawk ribeye) which was really good (but maybe a little undersalted). For dessert, I had a butterscotch pudding and my husband had a chocolate cake. Both were delicious. The service was great, no complaints! I was in town in Scottsdale's on some unpleasant medical stuff and decided to book a table here. The restaurant is located at the center of that strange touristy area with all the artsy farsty galleries and cowboy looking people and sculptures of native Americans. The night I booked the table I walked down a quiet street and saw a bush wall with a dim light. The virtu sign emerged and I was greeted by a young lady who looked at me as if I didn't belong in the establishment. I was wearing my red Nike sneakers with a polka dot button down and some black jeans. The place was oozing warmth and there was a modern fire pit outside. I was outside by myself and the waiter came, he had gray hair with a Hollywood curl. He looked like an extra from "the godfather." Anyway everything I ate was delicious and not pretentious at all and the place was warm and friendly, especially my waiter, I can't remember his name, but you will recognize his hair. read more

Beautiful dinner with great service. The place itself is gorgeous especially outside. Our waiter was great! The salad on their current menu is seriously the best salad I've had in a long time. Maybe even ever. Also highly recommend their espresso martini, also possibly one of the best I've had, but it's not on their menu directly. They have a fancy espresso machine behind the bar if you're just looking for a good dessert coffee as well. We got the scallops and their famous polpo for entrees. I wasn't crazy for the polpo but who I was with really enjoyed it. The scallops were absolutely amazing!!! The only thing we ordered that we unfortunately had to turn away, and we really thank our waiters kindness about it, was the tuna tartare (crudo) it was unfortunately really warm and very, very salty. We had big bits of salt stuck in our teeth. But we thank the restaurant for being kind that we didn't enjoy it.
