Been coming here for several years. I was there recently and I am wondering if there is a new chef or ownership ? Not the same unfortunately. It use to be a great hidden gem of the west valley. And now it seems to have gone downhill. The ambience definitely doesn't seem upscale any longer . Nice Experience. I really WANT to give them 5 stars. While I do recommend this restaurant and will likely return, the establishment needs a little work. First: The service is near to outstanding. The bus/support team could use a little more training, but you can tell the Vogue is all about great service. As other reviewers have stated, the food does not come out fast. This is a good place for a leisurely meal. Outstanding: the table bread. As good as any bread you have ever been served. Yeah, it's white bread, but we aren't here to behave ourselves. Super fresh and just flat out yummy. The house salad drops a few notches. The balsamic dressing was quite nice and very well seasoned, but the creamy dressing, while ok, lacked seasoning. No romain in the salad so it was rather limp, but my wife loved it. My wife enjoyed a nice glass of red wine. We ordered filet mignon and seafood pot pie. Filet mignon was cooked as ordered and was....alright. But definitely NOT 5 star. Not as tender as I would expect for filet mignon. 4 star. However the seafood pot pie, while nice at moments and had good flavor (the scallops were especially delicious. It needs more scallops and fish, and way LESS calamari. What I was served would be better described as Calamari pot pie. WAY too chewy. Wasn't pleasant and I had to send it back. The waiter was gracious and immediately went to the kitchen to get me a Vogue Burger in its place. The house burger is a nice adventure in deliciousness. 4.5 star. I recommend you try it. Charred meat, blue cheese, and apple with lots of their limp lettuce made it a joy to eat. Did not come with a side, and didn't need one. We also ordered the Brussels sprouts: 4 star. Nice, good flavor, but a little bland and soggy. I prefer the versions with bacon and a little maple syrup. Dessert: the lemon cake was very nice 4.5 star. Hubby and I had heard of this restaurant, so we wanted to try it out. It's my birthday, and he wanted to take me for a nice dinner...which it was!!! We made reservations (heard they're a must) and arrived at 4pm, right when they opened. Our server, Jason, introduced himself and asked if there were any questions to let him know. We perused the menu and found lots of really good items listed. To start, I had the French Onion Soup...it's served with a puff pastry over the top...and, it was delicious!!! Hubby got the Flatbread, which he inhaled...LOL!! For my entree, I got the Filet, but I subbed the Potato Au Gratin for the Risotto. I'm so glad I did, the Risotto was fantastic with my perfectly medium Filet. Hubby went with the Meatloaf, which he loved!!! I tried it and might get it the next time we come back (which we definitely will). For dessert, we chose to share the Bread Pudding. It takes about 20 minutes to prepare, but it's so worth it! It was served in a skillet with a lil scoop of vanilla ice cream melting over the top and caramel sauce...yummy!!!! We're already looking forward to the next time we decide to come back!!! read more

We have been wanting to try this place for a while. We were disappointed. I had the meat loaf, which had a sweet tasting sauce on it. Furthermore, it was burnt on the top. I couldn't even cut into the top with my fork. I ate around the burnt crust. The potatoes are different. They are similar to scalloped potatoes, but they were bland. My husband had the lasagna. It was good but the inside was only warm. The top was hot, so I'm assuming they just throw the piece in the oven to warm it. The rolls they bring out before dinner had parts that were cold. The couple sitting next to us ordered steak and they sent it back because it was tough and had a lot of gristle on it. They ordered something else. The food was just disappointing. We won't be back. My wife and I have been to Vogue Bistro a few times before; usually for a special occasion. But the other night we decided to go on a whim for date night. Firstly, The food was delicious. I highly recommend the oysters Rockefeller to start and the duck two ways paired with a dirty vodka martini with bleu cheese olives. The escargot and steak is also an incredible and very popular combination. I enjoy the atmosphere of Vogue as it is a smaller restaurant with a more intimate setting. They also play a lot of my favorite 80s music. Our server Dana was the best. I believe we have been fortunate enough to have her as our server almost every time we've come. She is very kind, attentive, and made excellent food recommendations. Additionally, my wife is 9 months pregnant and Dana went above and beyond to make her dining experience as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. Recently, my wife and I have been to other French cuisine restaurants where the food and the service could not hold a candle to Vogue Excellent food, service, and very reasonably priced. Staff had passed our table a few times without anyone saying hello before someone finally stopped to serve us. The food was good, but not worth the service. LOVED this place! It's a little place tucked away in what I would say similar to a strip mall but don't let that sway you away. We went on a Tuesday night (only reservation was at 3:45pm or not till 8pm which shows this is a popular spot!). They have specials every night of the week and Tuesday was "date night" Choice from either two soups or salads, your own entree and split a delicious desert. Our waiter was super on it, always checked in with us and gave us through details about the menu items and recommendations. I did the date night special and got the standard house salad, I asked for blue cheese dressing but they didn't have it, no worries at all, our waiter recommend their shallot dressing and add blue crumbles - wow was that an amazing combo. I got the filet and it was melt in your mouth good, paired with scallop potatoes, hands down just amazing. Dessert (cheesecake) was just as delicious. Drinks were great, we all got martinis. At the table the salmon, chicken, oysters, French onion soup were all ordered as well and they did NOT disappoint. Everything was delicious, great cozy atmosphere, excellent specials and happy hours. This place has gone so far downhill. I had two firsts tonight. I've never sent a meal back and I sent back the shrimp risotto because I had trouble cutting the shrimp with a steak knife. Was pretty sure the shrimp had been on the grill since they opened. It only has three shrimp so I figured they could try again. The second first was I wouldn't eat the remake as it was just as bad as the first. The server offered another dish and I passed. The old fashioned drinks were the best part of the meal as they were great, followed by the chocolate cake, that it turns out they don't actually make! My husband's steak was missing the salt so an $80 bill for Denny's quality food. We won't be back! read more

This is by far the swankiest little restaurant in Surprise. It's a great place for a date but I'd recommend you steer clear on special events like Valentine's Day. The first time I visited was on Valentine's Day and they were clearly overwhelmed and the service and food quality suffered. Today we visited on a regular day and the experience was top notch! The meatloaf and au gratin potatoes with asparagus was incredible and I practically licked the plate. I highly recommend the plantains, too. They make a great appetizer or dessert. I had to stop my fiancé from licking the leftover aioli out of the ramekin, it was that good. The seafood potpie was tasty but was slightly soggy on the bottom. That sauce in the filling is unbelievably good, though. And you can't come here without trying a martini. They are 12 bucks a pop but they leave you the shaker. No joke, it's like getting 3 martinis for the price of one. The servers are great too, very friendly and professional. The ambiance here is kinda sexy and cozy. Food is decently good and service was on point. Ambiance is great but the hanging string lights is a bit out of place. This venue is a bit pricey for being in a strip mall. Punching above it's weight class. Like really they charged us $3.00 for ice in the rum & cokes. I've been to Michelin restaurants and they don't charge for ice in alcoholic drinks. I also ordered a Glenlivet 12, NEAT (a single, unmixed liquor served without being chilled and without any water, ice, or other mixer) and they charged me ($1.50) for no additional work. Like really what restaurant or bar does that? My girlfriend got the filet mignon which was delicious and cooked perfectly to her liking. It comes with some sort of potatoes and she did not like the sound of that so she substituted it for mash potatoes and that was a $5.00 charge under "Vogue Fries". The mash potatoes didn't even come out on time, we had to remind them and it was clear they completely forgot about it. Salmon was extremely dry & flavorless. read more

Date night delight! We had a great time on a lovely and cool AZ fall evening. We were sat at a cozy and quiet corner table on the patio and really enjoyed our time. It was still happy hour so we ordered an appetizer but didn't take advantage of their drink specials as I really wanted a martini. I got the Prada, which was right up my alley. Grapefruit deliciousness, now one of my fave martinis and I will definitely return for that! Entrees were good. Portions are a bit small for the price but they were very tasty. Our only critique was the sauce on the meatloaf, while delicious, was a bit overpowering. My husband felt it would be better if it had been just on the meatloaf, and not everything on the plate because the potatoes just tasted like the sauce. Still really good though. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Our server treated us like old friends and we had a lot of fun with her! She suggested a dessert martini so we split one and it was the perfect after dinner treat. We had a great time and will look forward to our next night out here. read more

We decided to come back to eat here after having such a delicious meal and wonderful experience 3 evenings ago - shouldn't have. We were seated at the same table, the only similarity. Different waiter, didn't get his name (lots of hair and an accent). Guess he was busy because we didn't see much of him. We actually had more interaction with the waiter we had last time, Jason, who gave us attention when he walked by. The sea bass special was over cooked, as was the salmon. When we asked about our meal, our waiter said things were taking so long because the kitchen ran out of long grain rice (???). The beet salad, butternut squash soup and Vogue salad (with mixed greens) were tasty. Overall, the experience was a huge let down. It's been seven years since my last review. This is one of our friends favorite restaurants in Surprise. Our server Dana knows their favorite cocktails and provides over the top service. On this evening we enjoyed the Tuna Tartare, a bowl of French Onion Soup and the Filet Mignon. The Tuna Tower has layers of fresh diced avocado, heirloom tomatoes and pico de gallo. dressed with a house made ponzu sauce, garnished with creme fraiche, sliced ginger and wasabi. This is a large appetizer and can serve as an entree. The Onion Soup is So good! One of the best onion soups. Lots of caramelized onions in a hearty broth. Different from traditional as it has a puff pastry top instead of melted cheese. The Filet Mignon was a very tender cut. A 6oz Tenderloin of Local Angus beef delicately grilled and served with potatoes Au Gratin, broccoli and exquisite red wine sauce. On this evening asparagus was the vegetable. The steak was prepared as requested, well done. There are many choices of restaurants around Surprise, Phoenix and Scottsdale which is why it's been so long since our last visit. read more

I have visited this restaurant a few times before. I don't think I've ever gone in the middle of summer. The last I stopped by was at the end of the summer and it was also very hot in there. So my review is the over all experience we had. We had reservations and were sat at the front of the restaurant. Which I didn't want to be so close to the kitchen but the hostess said they didn't have any other tables in the back. Even though I could clearly see an empty room. They could have accommodated me since we were there early for dinner. So that was the first negative point. Second, we are ready to order our first appetizer and pre dinner drinks and it is getting hotter and hotter. Of course it is. We are by the kitchen. I start fanning myself with menu. The server, whom I think is also the Manager, I think. Comes over, and she says, I know it's warm because of every time someone opens the front door. I look at her a bit weird, since that door is not being opened that much. So I mask to please turn up the AC. She said it was as low as possible and it was the door again. I start eating apps and can not enjoy anything. Everyone around me is fanning themselves or complaining about the heat. She comes back and has the nerve to tell me " put your hair up, off your neck and drink your ice water". Are you kidding me???!!! You freaking cw ! How dare u tell me how I should wear my hair.? She's obviously not all there there's a few things missing. You don't say that to a client who took the time to get ready. I just looked at her, like, sure, why didn't I think of that you weirdo!! By the main course, my husband is pouring sweat. His meal was over powered by balsamic vinegar sauce with a pound of sugar. Geeez. That's their big amazing sauce?! No thanks. The guests next to us also complained about it. I could not enjoy my food. I packed it up quickly and wanted out of there. If it was related to the door, it would be that hot the entire time. But it ONLY got worse when the kitchen got going. They are just cheaping out on the A/C bill. Of course it gets hot. The kitchen is right there! YOU are NOT the only restaurant with a small sitting area with a kitchen nearby. We have been to several. The problem is the owners are over charging for semi good meals, but not spending on the A/C. But if you're going to be open during the summer, at least accommodate your guests. We have told ALL OUR FRIENDS TO NOT GO BACK THERE. Especially not during the summer. To be honest, the food was not as great as it's been prior visits. Just over sauced and over sweet with no real technique. So the food, the WEIRDO CHIFLADA server, and the extreme heat.... No way. I just wanted to share our experience at Vogue Bistro. I don't like writing critical reviews but I've been burned here more than once with the food and had here the worst steak of my life, (not being dramatic). My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and wanted to have a more upscale dining experience close to home so we decided to dine at Vogue Bistro. We figured we would give them one last shot. First impressions were dirty and old, worn menus, (first red flag). Our waitress arrived promptly, (she was great). We started with the crab cakes & lobster bisque. The crab cakes were okay, kinda bland. The lobster bisque had a good flavor but I guess all the grainy stuff in the soup was the lobster. Like lobster dust. Next up, my wife ordered the pasta with alfredo sauce and I ordered the Steak Vogue w/risotto. The pasta was okay but the sauce wasn't an alfredo sauce that you are used to and tasted something different so my wife wasn't happy with the dish. The Steak Vogue looked really good but wasn't good. The risotto was, again, bland and wasn't that great. The mushrooms on the steak were dry. The steak however is where the "worst steak of my life" comes in. Once I cut into the steak I noticed the interior was like pink mush. I was actually able to scrape the insides of the steak out onto my plate and it was all mush with no texture. I've had a lot of restaurant steaks and have cooked many steaks in my life and I have never seen this before, ever. Not sure how that even happens. The waitress even said she's never seen anything like that before and she quickly took the plate to have the kitchen refire me another. The second steak came out and looked really good on the plate. I cut into the steak and it was raw on the inside, (insert your best Gordon Ramsay meme here). That was it for me and the waitress apologized, (wasn't her fault). We did get a complimentary creme brulee for our anniversary. I ended up eating a burger at the Jack in the Box cause it was close and I was hungry. I still have no idea what they did to that steak. Also, they need to season their food as everything was bland and lacked proper seasoning. This is the last time for us. read more

Oh my goodness this restaurant is fabulous! Top notch service and amazing cuisine! We went to celebrate our father's birthday and our server Dana made the event absolutely perfect! She was attentive and thoughtful and even donned one of our party mustaches (which she rocked the look by the way!) Our appetizer of Fritto Misto was amazing! The French onion soup was the best I have had ever! The tuna tower was beautiful, fresh and fabulous even with a bit too much sauce (I would recommend the ponzu on the side). The steaks were prepared to perfection and the seafood pot pie was out of this world! This little hidden gem is top notch and should not be passed over. We came here based on the many good reviews we saw and were very disappointed. Staff and service was ok but slow to return to our table between ordering drinks and food. From the moment my wife and I were seated we could smell a bad fish odor but didn't think much since we were seated right next to the kitchen. We first ordered the crab cake and it had zero flavor even with the sauce on it. We had the award winning meatloaf which was average and the potatoes au gratin was also flavorless We also ordered the salmon which was completely bland and the risotto was disappointing. Our bad experience was heightened since our nice dinner with drinks was over $100 for below average food. The old fashioned was very good tho. First I love the ambiance of Vogue inside at night and patio in the day time. The flat iron steak covered in a perfect peppercorn sauce could not have been more tender and paired with a bottle of Silver Oak Cab took it to the next level. The fresh oysters were presented beautifully on a silver platter. Reservations on Wednesday night are highly recommended. Our inside table for four was reserved for 7:15 and most tables were full.Dana our server , who has been there 10 years provided the best of service. Did I mention it was very busy that night and I think they had ran out of bread - so they made a loaf of bread for us - right then and there! Talk about fresh! I used to really enjoy coming here because the food was great! Today I walked in, they had some unavailable menu items which was a bummer. Lobster Bisque was strange and paste like flavor was good but texture was off. I would've told them but I was on a work lunch and didn't have the time. I also stood in the front when I walked in and no one said hello or greeted me until a few minutes later. It took forever to bring out the food too.
