Cute place with very friendly service. We stumbled across this when we were visiting Phoenix. They have patio and indoor seating. The food was top notch! I loved the Mexican Benedict, the chorizo paired so perfectly with the hollandaise sauce and the entire dish the just came together so well! My husband tried the tortilla Espanola which he devoured. We ordered the johnnycakes for the table, they were fluffy cornbread pancakes served with prickly pear syrup, just perfect! Can't wait to come back!
Had an amazing experience here this morning. We had a party of 13 people, and had not planned ahead on where to go for breakfast. We were in nearby Vovomeena, so I called and asked if we could come over short notice with a big party. The said yes and so we did. We were expecting to probably eat on the patio, but got tables inside together. And, our delicious, freshly prepared food was served to us very quickly. The service was great. The food awesome and the charm of this neighborhood hood spot was spot on. Definitely heading back soon
Vovomeena has been a part of our lives for many years. We had a tradition of taking our girls after the end of the school year and now my husband & I make our way there whenever we can since it's a bit of a drive for us but it is worth it!! Beautifully decorated & clean as you enter with clear signs for directions. Lots of inside seating & outdoor as well. The food has been consistently wonderful as I've tried several dishes but I keep going back to the Pain Perdu. It's big enough to share but why? The next day it's even better when all the flavors soak in....yum!! I'm not typically a coffee person however, the way they do coffee at Vovomeena, I make sure to order my own or get a flight. I love seeing the usual friendly faces through the years!!
Food was solid. I got the Blackstone scramble with a hot coffee. The coffee was decent, I like that the refill was self serve. I would like to go back and try their pastries they looked really good. The scramble uses pork shoulder and peppers and onions. The pork shoulder tasted just like ham which isn't a bad thing but it was not what I was expecting. Some small criticisms: The peppers could of been cooked a little more; the potatoes were pretty bland and could definitely be improved. Overall the flavor of the scramble was good and was a satisfying portion. Definitely would go back to try other things.
Since my partner and I lived very close to this place, we decided to pay a visit, and got a pretty modest standard brunch before carrying on for the rest of our day. There were highlights and areas of improvement, and even if I probably won't return simply because I do not live in Phoenix, I do believe this place is a neighborhood gem in a good location for those that are looking for a good time with friends while having some food. Their menu on that day had smoked salmon benedict as an item, so I ordered that, and it was overall pretty salty. As much as smoked salmon should be salty, my opinion was that it was even saltier than what I considered it normally should be. The grits on the side barely had any flavor which was unfortunately a minus in this case. The hollandaise sauce on the top was the biggest highlight because it somehow provided a flavor balance for the dish. My partner had the biscuits and gravy, and didn't particularly enjoy it also because of the lack of flavor, in addition to the gravy being a little bit watery. Finally, maybe it's because of the specific donut we got, but the Portuguese donut was very dry and hard, so even eating it was a bit difficult, and the sweetness was just defined by the sugar on the surface. Neither my partner and I really got the hype for it. Even with these dishes that overall didn't work as well for us, I do notice many more dishes on their menu, so I have no doubt that people are able to find dishes that fit them. I would still recommend those around this area checking this place out.
This is hands down our favorite breakfast place! I don't think we have ordered anything we don't like, but the blueberry pancakes are my favorite. My partner loves the jack cakes! I have brought countless friends to this place and it has never failed us, but the staff is so pleasant! Must try
We haven't been here in a few years, but it was time to return. We loved it the first time we came and I'm surprised we haven't come sooner. Definitely a great brunch/breakfast place. I didn't try the lunch or coffee either time but their breakfast and brunch items yummy! The place itself is small and cozy with some outdoor seating. You order first before sitting down. I love the blue color scheme inside. The service is fast and staff is nice. I ordered the Wilcox avenue: 2 eggs, herbed potatoes, buttermilk biscuit or toast and choice of meat. The eggs were done great! Not too overdone or watery. Like the potatoes with skin still on. The biscuit and bacon was my favorite! Biscuit was very fluffy and tasty and the jam was made from scratch. There is something about offering made from scratch jam that adds that extra touch. It was strawberry jam and ever so good. The bacon was cooked to my liking a little crisp but not too soft. I loved my plate. My boyfriend had the Mexican Benedict: poached eggs, chorizo, hollandaise on sopes, herbed potatoes. Plenty of chorizo and he definitely approved. Another thing to add to the aesthetics was the beautiful dishware. Looked like handmade ceramics. Very pretty. The water cups were a great touch, copper cups. There is plenty of to choose from. I definitely want to try their baked goods next time and pancakes. I definitely recommend for brunch/breakfast place.
My second time here and the food here is still amazing! Although slightly pricier than most brunch places, and you have to line up to order and find your own seat like a cafeteria, the food choices can't be beat. Noise level is a bit above average, not the place to bring your laptop to sip on your coffee... Lots of flies everywhere, recommend some kinda contraption to control it.
Great reviews brought us here. It's an order at the counter then seat yourself. Food is brought to your table while you need to pick up your coffee order in the back. Food was hit and miss. Potatoes barely cooked and no seasoning. The chorizo was delicious. Coffee not flavorful. Both indoor and outdoor seating.
Fist time here and we definitely enjoyed! Busy on a Sunday but service and seating was efficient. Food was so yummy - savory crepes were filled with chicken, my husband loved his chicken sandwich and the waffle was great. Perfect hint of vanilla. Somewhat fast casual / order at the counter and sit. Great for a casual brunch!
Had to visit while in Phx; haven't been in a while. Did not disappoint; never does. The food is always amazing. Portions are healthy to say the least. And the service is always top notch and personal. Food here just tastes different and home made. In a neighborhood type of location with tough parking, but well worth it. Can sit inside or plenty of tables outside as well. This one is a can't miss.
"Order first, then sit where you'd like" style service. The food was pretty good, but nothing to rave about. The portions are incredibly generous, but it still feels like I paid too much for breakfast food (about or over $20/per person). The whole restaurant was very aesthetically pleasing. Overall, I had a good experience. I ordered the Johnnycakes because they sounded unique, and I like to order food that I've either never tried or can't make myself. These were kind of like a savory pancake and it was very good! Especially with the prickly pear syrup, but at some point the flavor of the syrup got to be overwhelming on the johnnycakes and I got over it about halfway through (but that's my fault for dumping it on there). I ate them with really good and juicy sausages and a side of sweet rice, which was kind of like oatmeal. I was surprised by it, but it actually wasn't that bad. Again, the food was good, but I won't drool thinking about it. It was just good!
So excited that we came across a Facebook article saying people were driving over two hours just for the pancakes--Vovomeena's did not disappoint! The blueberry pancakes were hands-down the best I've ever had. The cashier clearly knew all the regulars and even asked how we heard about them. He was familiar with the article and mentioned they've had a ton of new visitors because of it, which was fun to hear. The setup is great: you walk in, place your order, then find a seat. Super easy and efficient. The entire staff was friendly, and our food came out quickly. Everything we ordered was delicious. Seating both inside and outside was very nice and comfortable. And honestly, the bathroom says a lot about a restaurant--this one had it all: clean, a candle, and great-smelling soap. That attention to detail really stood out. Anytime I'm in the area, I'll absolutely be stopping by Vovomeena's again!

My husband and I have been going to this place numerous times and even taken are families here. It's a great place with good food. First things first you can't just hold a table for your party you have to order first before you can find a place to sit. They will then provide a number so they can bring the food to your table once it's ready. As for drink orders like lattes you can pick it up by their coffee bar area. Our favorite is always the b.m.o.c, The chorizo & Eggs, Savory Crepes! Overall, great spot with good food. read more
I had heard good things about this breakfast place, and clearly others had, too. At 9:30, the place was completely full inside and the patio was just about full, too. Great, inviting decor had several tables and chairs and a few high tops with stools. There's also patio seating, surrounded by lots of plants. You order at the counter, and your food is delivered to your table. Our food came out relatively quickly. We had the Pain Perdu, which is a banana bread pudding French toast topped with sliced bananas and whiskey caramel, and served with your choice of meat. We chose the bacon. We also had the Pawtucket West, with scrambled eggs, a waffle, and two sausages. It was a pretty big breakfast - - I've never sure why two eggs look so much smaller when I make them at home. We also bought the Japanese coffee flight. They are much different than American Coffee. My son really loved them. I like the way they use local products, like Hickman's eggs and Schreiner's sausage. Great little breakfast/brunch spot with a little coffee bar in the back. The portion sizes are huge and all the food is very delicious. I tried my first portuguese donut here which is what it is known for. I personally would have passed on it but it might be just my personal taste. They have a good outdoor seating area which is pet friendly as well. I got the banging pocket and wished I had the stomach to try some other things as well. I have had this place saved for while and finally was able to give it a try! I had the savory crepes and they were just lacking a flavor aspect, I think the sauce on them could have more depth and spice. I also added on a donut and it wasn't warm and not super sweet. I tried my friend's Johnny Cakes and it was very interesting, i haven't tasted pancakes like that. The corn gave it a totally different flavor profile. Another member of my group got the black stone scramble and while he liked it he wasn't blown away. The interior was nice and clean. All the staff we interacted with were friendly. I just don't think it would be a place I would return to. read more

This place is amazing! The food is very different from a basic breakfast place like Ihop. I always try to get something new every time I go here and I'm never disappointed. The service here is great as well! Staff is so kind and always attentive. It can get a little crowded during brunch time but thats the same with any restaurant. returned to one of our favorite places for brunch in phoenix after 7 years and absolutely nothing has changed. same delicious food, awesome friendly service, warm and inviting environment. the mexican benedict is my go to - BEST benedict! made with a corn cake base, it's incredible. had to order one pancake on the side because it too is fantastic. left full and hope to be back again on our next trip to phoenix. read more
Stopped by for brunch around 10 am and the line wasn't bad however fast forward 1-2 hrs later and it was packed. You order at the counter, pay and get a number so they bring your food to the table. Coffee and drinks are picked inside. I got the 3 sister omelette with bacon. It had corn, beans, zucchini and feta cheese. It was good, but nothing really stood out in terms of flavor. If I wasn't watching my carb intake I would have definitely gone with a dish that had pancakes because they looked pretty good. I was a little turned off by the lack of alternative milks, they only had oat milk so I had to skip coffee since I was hoping I could get a latte with almond milk. Service was fast. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Finding parking wasn't hard which is always a plus when going out. Overall I feel I'm not going to be rushing back. read more

This place is okay. I like the concept with like Mexican fusion brunch, but I do think it is a bit overrated. The orchard French toast was a standout, the apples were very fresh, the Mexican Benedict tho were pretty greasy with a lot of oil from the chorizo and the potatoes were a bit undercooked. I'd say this place is slightly above average. Service was good, but it's a little chaotic with the system of having to order at the counter. Overall decent brunch place but probably wouldnt come again. read more

Easily the best breakfast in Phoenix! The corn pancakes are one of the best breakfast foods I've ever had. The Belgian waffle is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. So delicious! The Japanese coffee flight was amazing too, it comes with black coffee but they have creamers and sugars to make your own lattes. The restaurant is small but vibrant and service was really fast despite a busy Saturday morning brunch. Love this spot!! read more
I didn't get why this is such a popular, well-reviewed restaurant. My wife and I grabbed breakfast there before visiting the Heard Museum. We entered, grabbed a couple of menus, then went to the counter/kitchen to order. I ordered the Mexican Benedict, my wife ordered the 3 Sisters Omelet (with potatoes), and we each had a coffee. There was plenty of food, but just not that great. My Benedict had very spicy chorizo (I like that!) that was overly greasy. The large side of grilled potatoes had little seasoning and nothing much to recommend them. My wife's omelet was quite large, nearly like a frittata, and she enjoyed it. I had a few bites and it was fine, yet rather plain. The coffee really needs to be upgraded, and it seemed a bit pricey for self-serve. Actually, the whole meal seemed a bit pricey for what we had. Awesome breakfast. Cool little spot. Seems small and crowded when you walk in, but had no problem finding a spot to eat. Not much to say. Food was excellent. I had the chorizo and eggs and my wife had the Mexican Benedict. Both were delicious. They advertise that everything is made from scratch and you can really taste it. Highly recommend. read more

Yelp brought us to Vovomeena and we're glad it did. When you walk in, there's a sign that walks you through the process. Walk inside, take a menu, order when you're ready, and then find a table. Once we ordered, our food was ready within ten minutes. The French toast with the honey mascarpone was very good (and sweet!). My daughter loved her pancakes and my wife really enjoyed the biscuits and gravy. We left content. They have bottomless coffee and free ice water in the back. read more
I've driven by this place so many times and have wanted to check it out for awhile! I'm glad I finally stopped in with a friend to grab brunch. It's very cool that you can see the kitchen as you're standing in line to order. I ordered the huevos rancheros and while it was good I feel like it lacked flavor and I was surprised by that I'm impressed with the service and the extensive menu so I will be back to try more! read more
This place is amazing and very cute! Food was great and plenty!! We were so full and even had leftovers for the next day haha. The line moves really quick but the place is not super big so I would say the earlier you get there the better so you can be seated faster. Had takeout for breakfast and tried the Mexican benedict. The presentation was pretty great even in a box! The eggs were poached well and the chorizo and hollandaise were delicious. I didn't like the sopes as much, I thought they were a bit tough to eat. Looking forward to try other items on their menu! read more

Went on a Sunday morning, wasn't overly busy. Was able to walk right up to the counter and order our food, got one of many open tables on the patio. The person I went with ordered a chai, but there was absolutely nothing special about it. Watched them mix Tazo concentrate with milk, exactly as I could have made at home. The chorizo and eggs down was fine, again nothing special. Felt mostly like eggs with just BARELY enough chorizo to give it a red color but not much flavor. The potatoes were bland as could be and DRY! I had to take a drink after each bite of potato just to wash them down. Decent spot if you're in the area for a quick breakfast , just don't expect to be wowed. read more

First time and it was a great experience. Brunch time, with pancakes and biscuits and gravy. I was intrigued by the prickly pear syrup, so asked to try that with regulate pancakes. Everything made in-house and quick. Separate coffee station which is helpful so that the main ordering line doesn't get congested by people waiting for their coffee orders. Love the creative decor and comfortable vibe. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Good food, great place located in a courtyard entrance and some parking in the lot. Can see that parking is an issue at times. read more
What a beautiful spot. Highly recommend! You enter through the courtyard which has outside/patio seating. Inside is very cozy and bright. You grab a menu, get in line, order your food and then they bring it to you. Excellent and friendly service. Great pastries. Tasty Japanese cold brew. I got the Mexican Benedict which had chorizo, poached eggs, and hollandaise on sopes. Delicious! Their pancakes and bacon are super tasty too. Smaller party friendly as the tables seat 2-4 and it's fairly tight. Plenty of parking to the south and to the east. Keep in mind they share space with a lot of other businesses. read more
Picked up my cousin from the airport then headed to Vovomeena for brunch. It's set up like a fast casual restaurant where you place your order at the counter, given a number, then have your food brought to your table. It was a Thursday morning and the place was fairly busy and filled with lots of patrons. However, there wasn't a line so we were able to walk up and order. We ordered the following: Oat milk latte Orange juice Orchard French toast Mexican benedict (chorizo on the side) The orchard French toast came with challah toast, honey mascarpone, grated apple, and choice of meat or spuds. My cousin went with bacon. The Mexican benedict was a fun twist on the classic. It had two poached eggs, chorizo, cilantro, and hollandaise on sopes. Served with "spuds," herbed potatoes. Came here on a whim for brunch before going to hike the Superstition Mountains, and it was a pretty good choice! It's located near the intersection of McDowell and 7th Ave with 2 parking lots nearby that provide free parking. There's also indoor and outdoor seating with ample coverage from the burning sun, so I know his place gets packed during patio season. It's an order at the front type of restaurant, so make sure you kinda know what you want before lining up. There's also a self-serve area for you to get your water and coffee. I had ordered the chorizo & eggs with potatoes, while my boyfriend got the Encanto garden scramble I believe. Loved the chorizo and eggs! The flavor was there, and the amount of food was def enough to fill me up. I tried some of the scramble and thought it was pretty good as well. Additionally, I ordered the chai latte, and it was just the thing to give me a little pep to my step. The only reason why I took off a star was because of the price. While the food was good, it seemed a little steep imo for the order style of the place. The food was really well portioned, and filling. Couldn't have asked for a better brunch spot. Service was amazing since I have severe food allergies and handled my dairy allergen very well. I also loved the ambiance with great natural lighting and beautiful interior decor. read more
