Hey all u White OC people, TRY THIS!! The Waba Grill is a franchise I recently found in the L.A. Area. I had to hunt down one closer to home and found this little jewel in Laguna Niguel. I have been there twice and both times the people who helped me were great. Waba is a Teriyaki house with the good old chicken and beef meat on rice, but they also have salmon and other options. The food tastes great! The business boasts that they are a great healthy alternative by not using any oil, no frying, no MSG, no Skins, low fat, low calories and high in protein. White meat chicken was so tough I had to throw out 6/10 pieces I got in my bowl. Other than that the service and other food is good.

Don't know about the food, but the "owner" will nickel and dime you! This place steps over a dollar to pick up a penny... I've been denied coupon use too many times on technicalities - it's frustrating - fine, so finally I had a coupon the front counter worker choose to honor and placed an order - only to be told I'd be charged for a container for condiments offered at the front counter! What? Seriously, I placed an order for over $10 and they wanted to charge me 25¢ for a container for condiments offered at the front counter - as the front counter worker told me the "owner" would not give a paying customer a to go container - not going to be nickeled and dimed by a cheap owner - there are plenty of other establishments that would appreciate my $10 + business now, and then repeat business in the future - not this owner. read more

Love Waba. H/b cmng here for yrs. Chicken & rice bowls used t/b 2 for $5.98 and they were overflowing. Not so much anymore. Rice appears to hv increased and chicken decreased in quantity and quality. Its still a gs pick me up, a decent meal and buy @ that however. NEVER EVER order their miso. I made the mistake of doing so and gt a little extra "floatie" in mine. It happens... Honestly, if you're going to Waba it- hit the Foothill Ranch location. We order takeout from here about once a month for the office. I have always been indifferent. I have tried Teriyaki Chicken and Teriyaki Steak. Yeah, it's fine. It's closer than Flame Broiler and the food is decent. That all changed tonight. I got the salmon. I am blown away. I got it with the mindset, "Im not that hungry so I'll throw it out if I don't like it." I ate all of it. I am impressed. We should really do this more often. read more

Had my first experience with WaBa Grill today. I ordered the WaBa Signature plate to go. In short, I loved it and will definitely be back! Friendly service, super clean dining room, short wait time, great in-box presentation, flavorful food (yummy steak and chicken over fluffy rice, topped with delicious sauce and green onions, plus a fresh, crunchy kale side salad and juicy orange slices) for under $10 out the door. We ordered the Chicken Veggi Plate. The picture showed that it came with carrots, broccoli, and cabbage. All we got was cabbage, and after reading the reviews, this seems to happen a lot. It is unbelievable that they are trying to save a few pennies on a $8 meal. To make matters worse, my email to WaBa Corporate was never answered. WaBa Grill sucks. read more

I was encouraged to visit Waba Grill a few weeks ago. I stopped by this small restaurant last week to check out their food and prices. Although their Chicken and Steak Teriyaki bowls are are about $1.50 more than other similar locations, the food is tasty. They serve either brown or white rice with their bowls. The white rice is not mushy but just the way I like it. on top of that they service cabbage, carrots and broccoli topped by chicken or steak. The staff is very friendly and their prices are in par with the service you receive. read more

Their food is delicious. It's healthy and a good choice for some asian style fast food. My favorite is their chicken plate. Their service is quick and easy. The people working there are pretty nice. I never ran into any problems. The little place itself is clean and updated looking. Their food is always fresh and healthy. They never gave me chicken that had fat in it but don't worry, it's never dry. It's also skinless! But still delicious! I love their salad dressing. It tastes like a sour sesame dressing. I love it. The only reason why I didn't give this place 5 stars is because I feel like they get a little stingy with the meat they give you with your meal. With all honesty I think it's the employees. It's not the way it's supposed to be done. I say that because I know who the manager is and whenever she is around I notice there's always a reasonable amount of meat given for what I paid. When she's not around however, sometimes my chicken bowls have like 6 little tiny pieces of chicken on it... I didn't spend money to buy a large rice bowl with teriyaki sauce on it. Low calorie and tasty fast food. The chicken, steak, or combo is the best. You can customize your bowl with rice, veggies, onions, sauces etc. Shrimp bowl is kind of tasteless, they pan fry it so it doesn't have the tasty grilled flavor like the steak and chicken. Bowls are $6.50 to $8. read more

For reasonably healthy Asian fusion fast food bowls the ones at WaBa Grill are good value for the price. Their house WaBa teriyaki sauce is good and the hot sauce packets available at the counter make it even better. We had a chicken bowl and a chicken veggie bowl. There was a good amount of chicken in both, it was well-cooked and tender. While there were some onions, carrots and broccoli in the chicken veggie bowl, I agree with other reviewers who say there is a bit too much cabbage. I'd be fine if they'd just leave some of the cabbage out, and then the veggies would be balanced and still a decent amount overall. It would be slightly less food, but I left some of the cabbage anyway, so it would be less wasteful. Overall, there is nothing remarkable about this place but it was clean, service was fine, and the food was basically what you would expect at a fast food place like this and given the price point. read more

This is the same a any other Teriyaki and rice with vegetables joint here in the OC. Its the same premise of: Healthier, fuller, and pricier! I came here because it was local to my work and I needed something fast. I ordered the rib combo plate with brown rice. The rice was very bland and dry and crumbly. No wonder all my white co-workers cringe when I tell them I eat brown rice. This is what they're thinking of! And the shirt ribs... well, more like 1.5 short ribs, was greasy and stringy. The salad was wilted. Even the orange slice looked sad! Never will I come here again (especially more so cause I don't work in this area anymore) and I'll stick Flame broiler for my meat n veggie fix. read more

This is totally my pick for a 'fast food' restaurant. Great for a quick lunch or dinner. Their bowls and plates offer a grilled protein of your choice (chicken, steak, tofu, or salmon - stick with the all-white chicken), with the option of adding steamed veggies on the side. You also have a choice of white or brown rice (brown all the way!!). Their teriyaki sauce is sweet, yet seems to have a deep, almost nutty base. Be sure to get some on the side! read more

We tried the Waba Grill Teriyaki House a little over a week ago & it was YUMMY!!! They are doing an awesome special right now were you can get 2 chicken teriyaki bowls for $6.95! It was perfect for my husband & I. The lady at the register was very nice. The restaurant was very clean. The food came out fast. The teriyaki sauce was very good. The chicken was extremely good & there was no gristle. The only we wished was that there had been more of it :) We will definitely be back! read more

Looking for a light dinner after having a large lunch. I ordered a teriyaki chicken plate with white rice. Everything thing was just "eh". The rice was just barely cooked through or was in the cooker for a little too long making it a little more firm... barely making it a 3 star. This was my first AND LAST time I'll ever eat at Waba Grill. The food was mediocre. I got the chicken bowl w/brown rice and green onions. The chicken was a bit dry and a bit overcooked. I know it's white meat chicken, but I've seen other similar establishments cook it so it's not so dry. So, why the 1 star rating? Almost immediately after I finished my lunch, I felt "off". As the day went on, I started to get chills, nausea, fever, body aches, and my blood pressure dropped. I spent the rest of the day and night in a painful fetal position. Thank you Waba Grill for giving me food poisoning! Now, everytime I think of Waba Grill, I'll think of food poisoning and the pain that went with it. No thanks! read more

I love coming here for lunch. I always order the same thing, the #11, chicken and vegetable bowl without onions. When I first went there, I noticed that the chicken was indeed "grilled" black, and I just did not enjoy the charred taste, but I asked the lady if I could get it cooked but not black and she was more than accommodating. I love the fresh taste of the vegetables and really enjoy the quality of service. read more
