WaBa Grill is a good place to go for healthy and fresh food quick. This store is located in a small strip plaza near the corner of Amar Rd and Azusa Ave in the "Little Manila" section of West Covina. I ordered dinner takeout from WaBa Grill very recently and got the No 12 Half-Half Rice Bowl ($6.75 plus tax), which was half teriyaki chicken and beef over choice of rice (I got brown). My order was all set to go in about 5 minutes, despite the place being very busy, they call out order numbers. The portion of food was packed good and heavy in a round plastic bowl. I topped off my bowl with WaBa Sauce and complementary sliced carrots and jalapenos for a spicy kick. The rice bowl was very good, served very hot, which had nice fresh flavors and the meats was very tender and soft. The brown rice was firm, cooked right. IMO, the food at WaBa is better than Yoshinoya, where I've found grizzle in my chicken rice bowls. read more

I stood front of the counter for 5 minutes without being acknowledge by the Asian female employee. She was too busy checking online orders on the phone. She finally acknowledges that I was there waiting for my order to be taken. Again no greeting, not even crack of a smile. I asked a simple question about the promotion item which she responded in a snappy way. She seems more interested in listening to the music and talking to her co-workers. Overall, poor performance in customer service. Food - 5 Star Promotion item - $5.00 Bowl with no vegetable and a 22 ounce drink is awesome deal. The rice with grill chicken and teriyaki sauce Is a healthy meal and great bargain. There is no WOW factor but a cheap meal that fills your stomach. Very disappointed ordered kids stake bowl but got a chicken when she dropped the food on counter I noticed told her was wrong then tells me kids meal don't have steak ( no one told me smh ) than I noticed my receipt I ordered also chicken veggie bowl the added extra cost for veggies I told her I didn't ask for extra why was I charged she said because you removed the rice the computer automatically charges you for veggies "at this point I'm annoyed" told her I don't care about veggies if my order already has veggies I don't want more why would you charge me extra she said because the portion is very small so I said it's fine I don't even eat them so I don't care if it's small portion so she fixed my order took off kids meal gave me a bowl then takes soda back instead of saying "am sorry for the inconvenience you can keep soda" no she took it back and thru in trash... This is the worst Waba I have ever been too. It must be family own because you can tell that type of people that run this place must not care. The food taste different from other wabas. Also, the staff is rude and can barely understand English. The female cashier is rude. Doesn't even greet you or let you know that she will be right with you. its been a while! had a small phase w this spot years ago, and came back around 9pm thursday night. the place was spotless bc they were in the middle of closing cleaning. i ordered 2 waba plates and subbed both sides for steamed broccoli, which i think is a couple cents extra. 2 plates came out a lil over $20. went next door to grab yogurt and my order was ready when i got back. service was great, food tasted slightly bland but very healthy and clean, plus they packed a bunch of sauce packets without me having to ask. portions are huge, made a nice big fried rice w the leftovers the next day read more

I understand the whole mask thing but what sense does it make to have to wear one then take it off to eat?. Reason being i forgot my mask and this female who had to make sure that there was no other way for me to get my food . as a business owner you do things for your customer. The location is continence and can be a little cheaper than Flame Broiler.Good variety for healthy options and healthy food. Nice place, warm services and delicious food. Staffs attitude was very poor today @3 pm. They make faces at you and stare at you while you eat. When I received my two chicken bowls there was very light drizzles of waba sauce on it and I asked for more and I was charged for more packets. Very rude and uncomfortable service. Good bang for your buck. Service is quick. I spent maybe 10 minutes in line due to a number of other people ordering in front of me. Food was ready within 3-4 minutes. Unlike some other WaBa locations, this place did not over-sauce the bowls. The steak plate was pretty well done. I'm not a fan of lots of sauce but, if you are, you can get as much extra sauce from a dispenser near the counter as you want. Only for dine-in, it seems, so keep that in mind. To-go orders must get sauce packets from the front counter. Additionally, the veggies were nice and soft. I've often visited places like Yoshinoya, Flame Broiler, etc. and they often rush the veggies so they end up hard. These soft veggies were a pleasant surprise. Lots of healthier options compared to 90% of the usual restaurants and located pretty close to the gym in case Tokyo Central's bento and hot foods areas are out due to late hours, or just plain expensive. You can get twice as much food from here as you get from a TC bento for the same amount of money. If you're after beef teriyaki or chicken teriyaki, don't bother with a bento. Just come here. Drive is maybe 2 minutes from that gym. read more

I've been coming here for a while and have got to say that the food is standard, the cleanliness is standard, but what made me review this place is the service. Holy smokes, these people reaaaaally don't give a rat's tail about service or attitude. As several people mentioned, they have an attitude problem. I was once charge .25 cents more than I should have and one of the workers said "I mean, it's just a quarter", as if her giving me my money back is annoying. There's also another girl who just makes me feel like I'm a burden when I go there. Like she's doing me a favor when she gets me my food or something. The type of worker that should work at the DMV. I saw three customers walk out today before ordering they're food. The employees here don't pay attention to their customers waiting to order. They choose to ignore them! Where is the manager to set them straight? The new guy in the front definitely needed help when my cousin was ordering With him. When the other girl finally come to help him she looked up at my cousin, gave her a dirty look and walked away. When her food was ready, she went to grab it and asked the girl "where can I get my juice?" (Simple question). The girl had something against my cousin apparently because she just pointed at the fridge and said "fridge" and walked off. I have come here 3 times total, and 2 of the times, I paid with cash. As the girl handed me a receipt with a a coupon she forgot to give me $13 in change back. I didn't realize that until I was at home, checking my receipts. I was minus $13 dollars. The next time I went in, same thing happened. But this time I asked her (same girl) where's my change. I heard this place is good and my friend recommended it to me because i wanted to eat a healthy lunch but wow you can't just pick an item and assume it's healthy here. The calorie count on the side is sill steep and their waba sauce is on everything! I guess an upgraded supposedly healthy spot. I was not a fan and everything is drenched in their waba sauce which is basically a thick teriyaki sauce. I've heard from other people that their rice gets dry so they have to drench their rice in sauce for flavor. Wow what a way to add a a few extra hundred calories. To me, it seemed like a brighter version of yoshinoya. Better quality but not the best. Each item comes out to be around $9-12. I ended up sticking with the salmon salad. Totally different from their normal chicken/beef veggie bowls that I thought I would be getting here. But in glad I got the salmon salad, it was good, I had to dissect the meal before I ordered and said no teriyaki sauce and dressing on the side. Glad I did. The salmon still had a lingering sweet crust taste to it. Enough for flavor, not overwhelming. I barely used the dressing though, it was pretty sweet. Forgot what it was but tasted a bit on the Asian side, meaning sesame ginger dressing? Along those lines. First of all the pink lemonade was pretty much just water! Second they LIMIT you on how many sauces you can take to go which is stupid because I've been to so many waba grills not one limited me. CAUTION: Check your order before you leave...this particular Waba has gotten my order wrong 3 times in a row within week. Since their GO, my wife has experienced multiple instances of the same thing! WE WILL NOT be returning to this location and caution you if you visit them. I only find out about the error when I arrive home and open it up, I don't have the time to have them check before I leave as other Waba locations have no problem getting 3 chicken bowls and 1 half n half with brown rice correct!. The level of staffing is also well below par, very grumpy employees and extremely slow service...fyi, the employee friends show up and they appear to receive preferential treatment!
