Service was pretty great, Cece was very helpful and asked for our feedback throughout the meal to see what we thought of everything. Ambiance was pretty chill and music volume wasn't overpowering conversation or anything 6 like at some other restaurants. Food was okay, but there were definitely far more marinated meats than my party was expecting. Also, the location will only be barbecue. They have signage saying barbecue and hot pot, but decided to just do barbecue before opening. They have a soft serve ice cream machine at this location. Hopefully they keep it because I thoroughly enjoyed the soft serve. It was a little softer than normal, but I like that consistency when I'm eating soft serve. The meats are probably above average for AYCE and the best deal is coming for Monday lunch pricing, which lasts until 5pm. They also include unlimited non-alcoholic beverages. However, the overall experience just didn't impress me. One big difference is that it's essentially all self serve. You constantly need to grab everything yourself and you start asking why you pay 20% tip to servers that take away trays maybe twice and do just one grill change. Another big negative is that I didn't like any non-raw meat options. All of the fried options, noodles, rice, burger, steamed dumplings, egg tart were quite terrible. The sushi was ok, but there was too much cold rice. The food isn't consistently stocked and their A5 slices this time were like 60%+ fat so there is inconsistency in their meat. Plus although some cuts have nice marbling, the flavor isn't on par so the quality isn't there which is understandable since it's a buffet and they would go out of business on good quality. For those who one to try this out, I recommend sharing and piling the meat on individual plates so you know what you are eating and find the cuts that you like the most. But for me it just left me unsatisfied because of the constant self serving (getting things for the family, refilling drinks, making sauces, setting things up for the kids etc.) and lack of other non meat highlights (like desserts, side dishes) to make the experience complete. I'd probably lean towards KBBQ or sushi focused AYCE spots overall. I haven't tried the other Chubby branches but I'm pretty sure this is their lowest tier for quality and service, and I'd absolutely wouldn't sign up for membership for the Wagyu Factory. read more

Back at another Chubby Group affiliate location. My algorithm started serving me posts recently, so why not make a trip. I will say that I tempered my expectations due to the concept and location size. Unfortunately this concept missed the mark in most categories. We arrived at opening and the servers were staggering intake to allow better customer flow. Service was as expected, which was great for me. I let Thomas know that I have been to a few concepts and he let me do own thing. He was sure to give pointers and suggestions based on customer trends. That really suited this concept imo. Food across the board was average to below average. I was expecting average due to the grab and go nature, but I was left mostly disappointed. Meats were noticeably lower quality than what I would consider acceptable. More than a step down from the other chubby group locations lowest tier offerings. This was the first time I've turned off a grill mid meal. Dim sum and sushi were also a let down. I didn't know dim sum could taste stale. Sushi grade was roughly lower than a small plaza sushi joint. We got lucky and grabbed the last unagi which was great, but doesn't count because unagi is unagi. Did not see a single restock of that for our entire meal. The rest of the rice was tough and I was shocked as she held a roll above the burner to warm it up. Veggies and cold offerings were standard. As were the fried offerings. Unfortunately I did not partake. Ironically here we hit the star of the show with an accompanying miss. My favorite offering was the mini wagyu burger. They put out a few at a time and it seemed like every customer was on the hunt for one. I would rate it a 3 out of 5 and it felt like the most cohesive product on offer. The miss? We saw no lobster rolls the entire time. We held out hope right up until they brought out our bill. As for desserts, I was happy to see ice cream again. Unfortunately it was a far cry from my beloved sea salt at Chubby Cattle. (They removed the machine sometime before my last visit so RIP sea salt.). Sub par vanilla and acceptable chocolate soft serve available. Wagyu Factory seems like it's still trying to dial in the correct tooling. If all the branding was removed, I would assume it was my local plaza AYCE with a $20 lunch special. I hate to say this because I'm a huge fan of the group and concepts. The staff was great, but the concept around them was lacking. If the lunch price was $30-35 ($35 being the original non-member price advertised by the influencers.), I would be more understanding of the lunch quality allocation. However; for the current lunch price of $40 and regular $50 price tag, I have higher standards. I would hit up any other concepts silver tier offerings before considering Factory in the future. read more

Once again, was lucky enough to procure the invitation to the NFT tasting for members and as usual the night went off without a hitch. The restaurant space used to be a gyu kaku so it was obviously going to be a bbq concept, however, i was hoping to also see how the BBQ+Hot Pot was going to work, but alas, no hot pot. Also heard other diners inquiring the same thing, so yeah... a little disappointing, but I prefer BBQ anyways. Food is laid out a la buffet style with these awesome trays of various sizes to accommodate whatever you grabbed. Selections of meat were great and everything looked really good. Small selection of desserts and Dim Sum were available along with the cold appetizers. Kinda missed the minced wagyu, but there's Miso Soup and various stews available here. I've visited several restaurants under the Chubby Group, and Wagyu Factory in Brea certainly lived up to the reputation. My daughter and I came in for dinner during the busy weekend rush, and despite the crowd, the service was seamless and the staff stayed incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our waiter, Tri, truly made the night special. He is clearly passionate about his craft and very professional. He steered us toward the "must-eat" cuts and even taught us a great trick: dipping the meat into a bit of salt and wasabi to really bring out the flavor. He was always nearby when we needed something but gave us space to enjoy our meal. The food quality is top-notch. If you're a fan of high-quality Wagyu, I highly recommend getting the membership. Since being a member of the Chubby Cattle club, we decided to try the different offerings. The meat selection and taste was great. The service was great. With that said, would love to see improvements to the following: 1. Need to serve alcohol 2. The hot foods variety was good but you can tell it sat out for a bit longer than it needed to. The fried rice was dry, the lobster roll was eh, and the burger was ok was hoping it would have been replenished with a new batch while we were there but it wasn't. 3. Sushi nigiri area - needs to look fresher, especially when it comes to raw fish. I know you go for the meats but if you're going to offer other items, should be up to the same standards. Unfortunately, the sushi roll was too hard, wagyu noodles are cold and the meat in some of the dishes was not as tender as I expected. For a place that specializes in wagyu, I was hoping for better consistency in texture and quality. The only item I really enjoyed was the wagyu spare ribs -- those were tender and flavorful. First of all, staff was great! They were very kind, attentive, and quick to take away dishes and do grill changes. There were a lot of cons considering you're paying $50 a person (without the discount). Soda machine did not have carbonation, ice ran out, and their ice cream machine wasn't working. The food station was behind, we were halfway into our meal before the nigiri was refilled. A lot of the fried foods were sitting out long enough that they were drying out a little bit and hard when taking a bite. I wish we knew ahead of time that they aren't doing hotpot either. Maybe this was because they opened recently but again, for $50 pp, the expectations are a little higher. read more
