First coming here was for my birthday with my family. The host was polite and seated us quickly. You have to sign up for their app where they scan your QR code which is a little nuisance if you're used to something more traditional. We sat down and the server explained the concept thoroughly. There was only one server on the floor. Food was decent, but nothing too crazy. The ambiance of the restaurant was colorful and party like. The host and server knew it was birthday as soon as we walked in because we mentioned it to them. During our meal, they sang to five other people for their birthday; we sat across the table in B7 from one party who had four birthdays that day. No one offered the same birthday celebration to our party. Towards the end of our meal my brother started to feel a little dizzy so we decided to leave. Paid cash and as we're standing waiting to leave the server finally asks if we want them to celebrate my birthday too--a little too late for that. I'm not gonna go back to my seat when we're in the process of leaving. It should have been asked while the other five people received their birthday celebration. No celebration was given to me, while every other party received one. From my experience working in restaurants, it's standard to either ask or initiate the celebration before the party is in the process of leaving, especially when other birthday celebrations are happening around them. Highly not recommended. This Chubby location's food quality is not as good as that of other locations. I am a Chubby fan and go to all the Chubby restaurants near me. We tried 8 different type of beef and 6 of them were not fresh. There is a strong after taste and one even tasted like soap or detergent. Not to mention our fire was not strong enough to cook food, only 50% of the grill has flame. The service is good as usual but sadly the meat is not fresh. read more

The different cuts of beef we had was all good though its hard to tell what is what. usually i am good at telling what cut of the meat i'm eating especially when eating at korean bbq but this place was a bit hard to tell. (yes i know this is not korean bbq) all the hot food were pretty good as well minus the soup dumplings. there are a lot of korean bbq joints near here but from my experience, (Rib co, Wynn bbq) this place had the best meats. all tender and pleasant to eat with a lot more variety of food to eat. My only thing is they don't serve alcohol which is a bit sad but hopefully that will come down the road. read more

Been to a few other Chubby establishments so we were excited to see Wagyu Factory in Brea with all the other great restaurant choices in DT Brea. Mai Or Mia was our server and she was very patient explaining how the process worked here (basically self serve k-bbq) and even sold us a membership explaining the value that comes with it since we've already frequented others. It's a fun experience BUT the food quality did not compare to Chubby Cattle. The option to pick your own meats is a good concept in theory IF the restaurant was bigger and if they offered more meat variety. It was not too crowded when we arrived on a weekday for lunch and at times the meat station would bottleneck with others trying to decide what to get so I can only imagine how overwhelming getting your own meats could be on busier days like weekends. The sides were mediocre and not worth filling up on. The sushi did not taste fresh, reminded us of those you can buy at markets. Sadly no lobster rolls which I was hoping to try. The Kim chi and salad station was a nice touch to balance out all the meats. We would come back for weekday lunch only as the restaurant footprint on a busy night would be too claustrophobic. Unfortunately, the only positive aspect of my visit was the meat; everything else was quite disappointing. I signed up for the waiting list on the iPad, but no one greeted me upon arrival. I ended up waiting outside in the heat for a long time, and it seemed like no one was checking the waiting list. I noticed several parties came inside without having to wait at all. After a while, I called to inquire about my status, only to find that it was an automated system. Frustrated, I went back inside to flag down a staff member, only to learn that they were only accommodating walk-ins, with no actual waiting list in place. Inside, there was little room to wait as more diners arrived for dinner, and some customers were blocking access to the soda machine, making it difficult to get a drink. Many were engrossed in their phones and weren't courteous enough to move aside. As for the food, the items on the self-serve bar were neither hot nor fresh. The sushi appeared to have been sitting out for a while and was somewhat dry. The soup dumplings are no longer juicy nor had broth in them. Some of the fried foods tasted either stale or hard. Overall, I left feeling completely disappointed. NO, I'm not exaggerating. The place was small, too. It's expensive for my experience. Definitely won't come back. I honestly don't recommend it. Having been able to try different AYCE Shabu and BBQ in the OC area lately, I found more places that are well worth it for less. read more

I've been going to various chubby group restaurants and came here on a Friday. We got there early around 5:30 and it was roughly about a 45 minute wait however when we were called for our table, the weight look to be roughly 2 to 2 1/2 hours long. The ambience and atmosphere was great. That decorations were very nice. However, I would say that the food here was just average. The name is Wagyu factory and the meat options were not that great. A lot of the signs for the different cuts, say Wagyu however I would say that the meat quality dollar for dollar was not that great. The best cut of meat was the Wagyu short rib and even that was just OK. However, I would highly suggest getting the $3.99 upgrade a five chuck roll. This by far is the best cut and is similar to the NikuX quality. The price here is a little bit on the high side and there is a lot of options, but each of the options is average at best. For example, lobster dumplings or lobster roll, which sounds good in nature, but actual quality a bit is subpar. I would personally go to and all you can eat Korean barbecue over this place if prices were the same. I think some of the experience is lost when everything is like an all you can eat buffet where you need to get it all yourself. Also, the restaurant is a little bit small and the area to get the food gets a little bit too tight. I will be going to nikux in a month which the last time it went was amazing. I believe that maybe the chubby group is expanding too fast and there's some stuff not meeting the quality expectation. If you've made it to the bottom of my review, the best thing here, and I would say was very good was the hamburger. Get it as the meat quality is very good since I assume it's just the leftover beef ground up. Skip the taco. The service was good and everybody was working quick and fast and no complaints there. read more

If I could I would give it NO stars. Service: lack there of... you get everything yourself and still tip for almost no service at all. We had to ask that they remove our plants. We're given plastic cups to get our own drinks. We asked for a fork for our kids and they never dropped it off. Atmosphere: the space is so cramped that you're constantly bumping into people. It feels like they were trying to fit too much under one roof. Not comfortable at all. Food: limited selection with sub par meat choices. Meat absorbed gas fumes. Never refilled avocado roll. My son and I felt like our stomachs were not pleased with the food and went to bed queasy. Cost: pricey. Plan on spending $50 for adults and $25 for kids. We were asked to walk over our kids in the middle of our meal so they can measure them for checkout. This is something that should've been done beforehand and not during our meal. Our family was extremely disappointed and hope others will take this review and seriously consider it when they decide on where they want to go out to eat. I was so excited to try this place after seeing all of the positive reviews and pictures. Most of the reviews highlighted an outstanding server that explained the concept and even helped to cook some of the meats. We did not get any of that even after stating that this was our first time visiting a Chubby restaurant. We also had to share a table with another party which I didn't particularly love. They also messed up on our bill. Food was just ok to me. The A5 and one other (I forget the name) was very good but the short rib and mini sausages tasted off to me. Maybe I'm just not a fan of the marinate they use? Sweet potato cheese was SO GOOD. Sushi was alright, lots of variety but kind of dry and tasted like it had been sitting out for quite some time. Lobster roll was super dry. Egg tarts were delicious and flaky. Overall, a hit or miss on the food and service was just ok. Not sure I will be back. We had been looking forward to this place and wanted to like it more, but overall it fell short. The service was fantastic, staff were friendly and helpful throughout the meal. Unfortunately, the food itself was just okay (most of the meat too chewy), and the biggest issue was availability. Many of the meats kept running out and it was super crowded near the food which made it difficult to actually enjoy the experience. It was also odd that they didn't provide bowls for rice, only flat plates, which felt weird. I agree with other reviews that it's not quite at the level you'd expect. On the positive side, there was a decent variety of sides, and the ice cream and egg tart were a highlight. For the price, I expected much better quality.
