I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was disappointing from start to finish. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was how incredibly hot it was inside. You're eating hot shabu, so having a comfortable dining room is especially important. The restaurant had a large portable A/C unit, but instead of helping the dining area, it was aimed directly at the employees who were standing around. When we politely asked why it was so warm, we weren't offered a solution or even an apology. Instead, an employee gave us a lengthy explanation about their air conditioning system. Honestly, I wasn't looking for an engineering lesson I was hoping someone would simply angle the portable A/C toward the customers who were sitting there sweating while eating boiling hot food. The service experience was equally disappointing. Nearly everything was self-serve. While the quality of the meat was good, and some of the sushi was enjoyable, there was virtually no guidance from the staff. No one explained the different cuts of meat or what made each one unique. Instead, customers had to walk around reading small description cards posted at each station and figure it out themselves. For a restaurant that's supposed to provide an enjoyable dining experience, this really takes away from the overall experience. It felt more like navigating a cafeteria than being welcomed into a restaurant. The final nail in the coffin was the false advertising. One of the main reasons we chose this restaurant was a beautiful Yelp photo featuring a uni lobster roll topped with caviar. It looked incredible and was something we were genuinely excited to try. After arriving, we asked about it and were simply told that this location doesn't serve it. If that's the case, then why is it being advertised for this location? Advertising dishes you don't actually offer is misleading and sets customers up for disappointment before they even sit down.

Dined here for Fathers Day dinner. Made a reservation in case, but there were actually a lot of tables open on weekday night. We arrived early but oddly enough, they made us wait till our reservation time to get seated lol. So based on their menu, it's basically like a $50 buffet for weekday dinner. You can pick out your own meat and all the other fun hot pot ingredients, fried snacks, curry, drinks, etc. We ended up getting the gold menu since it seemed most worth it, definitely the gold menu meats would be better quality than what they have at the bar. Although, service was kinda slow getting the meat.. we ended up getting the protein at the bar first. For the broths, we chose the sukiyaki and spicy pork tonkotsu broth. The tonkotsu broth wasn't spicy at all, but definitely reminded me of something you would have with ramen. Sukiyaki broth was kinda salty, so I think we all preferred the pork tonkotsu broth. It was a unique flavor to have with wagyu meat. Trying the meats, we enjoyed the wagyu cuts the most! We do like the more lean meats, but the one that said it was a lean meat was kinda tough, despite how short we cook it. The Rib Eye Jumbo Nigiri was also the best one. The lobster roll and the teppan steak were nice, but also a little tough and greasy tasting. All the flavors were quite nice. Overall, as a Japanese hot pot concept, I thought it was okay. Chubby Mart and Chubby Cattle were both better experiences in my opinion. The experience was also a lot better at both times too. Today's visit just felt like a regular restaurant, so it didn't really have that Chubby flare, just felt like a nice buffet. Considering service was slow, the table setting or restaurant didn't feel too clean? but the food was still pretty good in general. Just not at the Chubby Club level I have experienced at other Chubby restaurants. I also got my parking validated at the restaurant but the machine still made me pay $6? I was here for at most 2 hours, which the structure is $1.50 per 30 minutes. So it still made me pay for parking lol

Good shabu shabu option at the Paseo! If you're a member of chubby club there are some freebies depending on tier. For silver tier we went to get our own drinks, meats, seafood and veggies buffet style. Higher tiers give access to additional premium meats. Good selection of Wagyu beef and seafood including sushi. We enjoyed the curry rice (self service). Depending on party size and the orientation of the table setup you can get your choice of 8 broths. We got the Wagyu tomato and the passionfruit. The passionfruit does list as spice level 5 but it was not too spicy and it was quite flavorful and fruity. The tomato used to have bones but our server said it wasn't available anymore. It did feel a bit watered down today. Parking validated to 90 mins at the Paseo lot but if on Sundays street parking is free (pay attention to signs).

I had a good experience here as there are a variety of meats, veggies and greens. The quality of meats is pretty good especially the beef tongue and wagyu meats. I didn't try the sushi which I'll have to go back and try but I was feeling meats 100% today. I do enjoy to be served in an upscale place like here than me getting up constantly to grab items to cook especially the price I'm paying, but it is what it is They need bigger scoopers for the sauces because it took many scoops of peanut sauce to fill my container. I did enjoy the rice drop and the wagyu curry. I just got the curry, potatoes and carrots to eat with my shabu meats. Too bad they didn't have rice paper like at kbbq places cause I'd enjoy that eating it with my meats instead of rice. It be something different from the normal. Like really who's going to eat a cheese burger. My friend attempted to but it was overcooked and dry. The server came to take our broth order and delivered that and collected the bill at the end. That really doesn't require a gratuity imo. The ambiance was nice and soothing. It was a quiet affair and I enjoyed being able to hear my friends while eating. 90 minutes of free parking with a parking stamp from the restaurant or park on the streets

You will get really excited walking past all the food displayed at the buffet lines. But unfortunately for us, the excitement was short- lived. We opted for the Gold tier, which is the in the middle. You get one special dish, and our table was all eyeing the otoro sashimi and king crab leg. The saddest part was that we were not informed that both items were sold out prior to selecting the tier. We thought, Well , at least they have a sushi/ sashimi section at the buffet line. True...except it was empty most of the time. It was only refilled once throughout the duration of our meal, and was quickly depleted. When we asked the server if the kitchen will be refilling the sushi section. He came back and said no, they are done for the night. Halfway through our meal, we started becoming impatient because the meat took forever to come out. When we brought this up to the server he apologized and said there was only one meat cutter working today, so they are very backed up. Again, this was never communicated from the beginning. Towards the end of our meal they started cleaning up the buffet lines, and sauce bar. But, no one ever came to our table to advise us that they were cleaning up the buffet lines or that it was last call. I have never been to a buffet where they don't advise the customers before cleaning the buffet lines. At least give the customers a last chance to get anything before cleaning up. I do appreciate the manager for being proactive in recognizing our subpar dinning experience, and took 2 $20 off our total bill. BEWARE*** : We were charged automatic gratuity on our party of 5. But on the menu it clearly states auto gratuity is charged on parties of 6 or more. We brought this up to the server, who went to ask the manager. They ended up removing the gratuity. The best part of the meal was the drink station. Because it was the only consistency and continuously fully stocked. The restaurant is pretty spacious with ample seating The food is forgettable, and subpar. The service is slow coupled with bad communication. This is the worst Chubby Cattle location I have ever been to. I'll go to Mikiya for my hot pot fix. I will not be returning. Tip: Don't forget to ask for Parking Validation before you leave.

I've been here at least 6 times now and I hate to say it, but I feel like the quality has been dropping. On a few recent visits the broths have been noticeably saltier than before. Even the dashi broth, which is usually more balanced, tasted pretty salty on my last visit. The buffet side also seemed to take a hit. The sashimi selection was very limited, only about two types the whole night, and it was empty most of the time. The veggies didn't seem as fresh either, and the sauce bar didn't look very clean. The cilantro and green onions looked like they'd been sitting out for a while. The ponzu sauce also leaned more sweet than sour, which threw me off. The dessert options also seem more limited now compared to before. Service was just okay. We were seated near the register and could hear staff saying they didn't want to be there, which wasn't the best vibe. It also wasn't busy that night, so it made everything feel a bit off. A few other things I noticed, they now validate parking for 90 minutes which is nice, but they removed the unsweet tea from the drink machine and the rice machine wasn't working during my visit. The only thing that still seems consistent is the quality of the meat, which is still decent. Not sure if it was just an off night, but overall it felt like the experience has slipped compared to before. It's honestly a bit disappointing since I used to recommend this place to everyone. I might give it another shot, but right now I'm a lot more hesitant to come back.

The food is really good here. I really enjoyed the all you can eat options. The sushi, seafood, and vegetables were very fresh which I appreciated. I would come back again. We got the Miso Tonkatsu and Sukiyaki and my favorite for the meat was Sukiyaki since it had lots of flavor.

Server ed was amazing. He explained the different tiers to us and showed us what the differences were. He explained the self service items as well. He kept coming by to make sure everything was good and gave us extra napkins as well. Got the gold but next time ill get silver. They have soo much items at the selfservice station. I felt like i got fill off of then instead of the hot pot. For the hot pot meat, beef tongue was the best but for gold you can only get it once. The others were either too fatty or too lean. The sushi section does get refilled pretty often because everytime i went to grab something else, i would have to go back and grab more salmon items. They need to have a sauce bowl for soy sauce and wasabi though. I didnt like the lobster roll. I think it was mixed with ubi which i am not a fan of. They have fruits on top of the sauce bar.

Visited Wagyu Master for an early dinner and was impressed with their AYCE selection. You can help yourself to items like sashimi, sushi, burgers and curries....or pick from a plethora of ingredients for a delicious hot pot feast. Our servers were attentive and helpful, especially Kit who recommended and prepared the best dipping sauce paired for any bite. The restaurant accommodates many tables but mostly of groups of 4 so if you have a large party, expect to be seated at separate tables. We really enjoyed the large selection of fresh ingredients and the broths were tasty. We especially loved the opportunity to choose our own portions and not have to wait for it to be served to us. But their dessert selection was just ok. The egg tarts looked promising but the flavors were disappointing. We all agreed that it would've been better if they offered an ice cream selection instead.

Wagyu Master has mastered the art of modern Shabu in Pasadena. The food was high quality and fresh, and the service from Wen was stellar. He was friendly, attentive and made the overall experience better.

Ask the Community - Wagyu Master Shabu House

I receive a promo text that said valid weekday anytime and weekend before 5pm. Then when I check my voucher the bottom fine line said that it is valid Mon-Thu only. So is Fri considered weekend price at this location?

I inquired on this - The voucher is supposed to work any day before 5pm (it is marked incorrectly in the app), Fri-Sun are weekend pricing.

Do you have a kids menu?

No kids menu. Same buffet items as adults. There are fries and nuggets at the buffet though

    Any time limited?

    90 minutes

What is the policy for kids?

Does a party of 8 have to share one pot or each person can get their own pot?

I came with a party of 6 and we shared one split pot. Hope that helps!

The restaurant has a nice, natural light filled space, and though it was busy, it wasn't too loud. It worked out well to go with two people so we could try almost all the options... - Scallop aguachile, avocado, salsa macha verde: Came with two shells, each with a little scallop, avocado, zucchini, radish, cilantro. Nice and refreshing to start. - Strawberry and vanilla French toast fingers, pistachio marzipan: A very generous portion of French toast with strawberry jam and pistachio sauce. Nice and crunchy crust. It was an interesting contrast to the aguachile first course! - Crab cake eggs benny: Two poached eggs on crab cakes. This was good, nothing unexpected, though I was getting pretty full at this point. - Summer berries, Scottish shortbread, white chocolate mousseline: This was the only dish we were disappointed by. The shortbread was pretty bland and the texture was lacking crispness. - Profiteroles, vanilla ice cream, strawberry ice cream, hot fudge sauce: Simple dessert but put together well. We both also ordered Purple reign cocktails, which went well with brunch. Overall it ended up being quite a bit of food and a good value for two.

After researching and making the trip to Pasadena numerous times, I never discovered the Pez Coastal Kitchen. I was here for lunch and walked into a small but impressive space, elegantly decorated, with both a dining and bar area. My seating was in the latter, not on bar stools, but at a table for two, because I was dinning solo. For appetizers, I chose the scallop aguachile. There were two small portions, each in a plastic shell, sitting on a bed of ice. While I am not fond of aguachiles because of the general overdose of citrus in them, this one really surprised me. While there were only small pieces of scallop, it had an abundance of small cubed cucumber pieces that provided the nicest contrast of crunch, juice and texture. The citrus was mild and well balanced. A wonderful start. I selected the fried fish burger for my entree. The fish was mildly battered, yet lightly crisp, to highlight the big pieces of fresh, flaky and moist fish that were literally, falling off the burger. It was a good stack, with minimum lettuce, tomato and sauce, so as to not take it away from the star, the succulent, perfectly prepared, flavorful fish. The bun was also well crafted, nice and fluffy on the inside, not dry, with a buttery brown on the outside. Easily one of the best fish burgers I have had. For dessert (the third course), I had to have the profiteroles with ice cream. One was with vanilla, the other with strawberry. Both came topped with dark chocolate sauce, that had hardened by the time of eating. A superbly assembled concoction, that provided the crackle and exhilarating mouth feel. I cannot remember the last time where at a Dine LA restaurant, all three lunch courses were so well presented and satisfying. One was better than the other. Overall, it was worth the drive, for an extraordinary dining experience.

This was our first time here, so we had to try the Asparagus Fries. The asparagus was cooked to perfection but the batter did not have much flavor. Members of our party ordered the California Salad, a Veggie Burger, the Meatloaf and a Picante Pizza. The California Salad was smaller than expected but delicious. The Veggie Burger was excellent! The Meatloaf was the hit of the table. It was so good that my wife did not offer a taste to any of us. She was in food Heaven. The pizza was exactly as described and tasted wonderful. Since we were celebrating my birthday, our server brought me a delicious piece of double chocolate cake with a candle in it. Nice touch!! We also had one of their Warm Butter Cake's with some excellent vanilla ice cream on top. Absolutely wonderful!. This may be our new "go-to" place. Looking forward to return to savor the other items on the menu. Their drinks looked delicious as well, so we will definitely try those too.

The Lucum ice cream tastes good, it's buttery and has caramel and maple syrup flavor. It's a special Peruvian fruit. It's a good wrap for our dinner. We will like to come back to try more dishes.

We visited this restaurant at the beginning of Dine LA for lunch ($35)…read more When we arrived, the door was locked and had to be let in by the staff though there were at least 5 other parties dining there. I thought that was a bit odd, but I guess it was to detract from unwelcomed guests (i.e. homless people)? Anyhow, we were seated right away and sat by the window which was nice! We were given the menus, but I had to specifically ask for the DineLA menu which I also thought was a bit odd since it seemed like they wanted us to order off their regular menu. Perhaps this was just an oversight. For starters, we ordered 1 of each that was offered: Ceviche Carretillero - Refreshing and brought me back to time spent in Peru! I preferred this option Salpicon - This was also refreshing and reminded me of chicken salad mix in a bowl though not sure I would order it without it being a part of a prix fixe. For the main course, we ordered: Saltado Salad - This had minimal protein and was not so satisfying when compared to a traditional lomo saltado, but the protein that was there was yummy. Aji Gallina - I really was excited to see this on their menu since I love this dish so much and don't see it offered too often at Peruvian restaurants. Though the sauce was good, the chicken was VERY dry and hard to chew (overcooked) so it took a while to finish this. In lieu of desserts, they offered Maracuya (passion fruit) and Chicha Morada (purple corn) juices which were yummy but the star of the show was their sangria which was delicious especially on a hot day. My only complaint about the sangria was that we were charged for 3 carafes when we only got 2. Once we identified this, we brought it up and just went ahead and enjoyed the 3rd one since we had already settled the bill. That being said, always double check your receipt!

The food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. The crab roll was packed full of crab meat inside the toasted bun. I love whatever sauce they put on top + the lemon which made the crab meat ridiculously refreshing. The side of salad helped me feel better about eating healthy too and was a nice textural break from the crab roll. Overall, the crab roll tastes relatively similar to what I had at Lobster and Beer. It was very satisfying and I can't wait to come back for the lobster roll. Until I find out they switched to a poke shop instead. What a loss.

I got my usual Cali Truffle Roll (which was delicious, as always) and also got a side of lobster bisque soup. The store associate says that it gets made fresh daily, and that there's chunks of lobster in the bisque, so I had to give it a try. Guys. It's worth making a trip for! This is the BEST lobster bisque I've had (and I used to live in east coast!). You can truly taste the freshness and yes, there were chunks of lobster in it! They also have a clam chowder which I need to try again. Whatever you come here for, get a side of soup to complete your meal :)

Obviously, you can't come to a place that has lobster in the menu without ordering lobster, and we got the House Special Lobster (Large) with Garlic Noodle. Other items we ordered were the French Style Beef Cube, Braided Crab Meat & Fish Maw Soup, Beef Mongolian, Crispy Fried Sole Fish, BBQ Fried Rice, Clams with Spicy Sauce, Crispy Fried Squid with Salt and Pepper, and Clams with Black Bean Sauce. The portions are actually quite massive for each dish. All of it was very solid and tasty Chinese food. We were definitely very stuffed after this lunch was over! Service here is solid enough for a Chinese place. They were pretty quick with getting us extra plates to change out our dirty plates and more bowls as needed. And they were quick with the water. But yeah, you do have to flag them down to get their attention. They do have a parking lot here, and we got here early enough on a Sunday where parking wasn't an issue. However, I can see it being a problem on busier days. Boston Lobster is definitely worth a visit if you want solid Chinese food at a fair affordable price. Really good!

To say that I have been planning to go to, Newport Seafood, is an understatement. It is considered…read moreto be one of the best destinations for fresh seafood, with the accent on Chinese cuisine. What has shunned me from this place, is the distance and the traffic, from the SFV. Finally, I made the journey. And arrived for lunch, on a weekday. To come here and not order their iconic Signature dish, the House Special Newport Style Lobster, would be a sin. Imagine a trip that was almost 40 miles and an hour of traffic (one way), with no reward. It was time to experience the real thing. The signature dish. Walking in solo, I was given a booth. I liked that. On seating, I ordered a beverage to quench my thirst, catch my bearings and breath. Almost immediately, the servers kept bugging me to order. The place was barely 1/4th occupied. Whats the hurry. After all this, I had to repeatedly tell them, that i had already spoken with a server, regarding my order. Just wanted to relax first, catch my breath, sip my beverage. Coming here, I was aware that their tank lobsters would be in the 4-6 pound range. Good for, and ordered by, at least 3-4 people. So when I, as a solo diner, ordered a 4-pound lobster (with no other choice), just for myself, they began to leave me alone and give me more respect. The cut up wok prepared, House Special Newport Style Lobster, arrives wonderfully presented, with heaps of leeks, scallions and jalapenos. My kind of recipe. Truly unique and exceptional. There is no sauce, and only a mild flavor, yet tasty. My biggest concern here was (after reading numerous internet reviews), that the lobster would be rubbery and dry. Not so for me. I lucked out. Problem here is, while there is lots of meat (a 4 pound lobster will yield at the most, about a pound of meat), they do not have, or provide, the essential lobster cutlery, to do justice to this beautiful crustacean. I did ask though. They did not seem to care and told me to use my fork. LOL. Steamed rice is complimentary. So is a soup, with sweet and sour, being the only choice (I did not like this). Either way, my plan was to take leftovers (there was a lot), home, where I possess high class lobster cracking tools. And thank heavens I did. They were most useful, to crack and dig into all the lobster meat, that would have been inaccessible at the restaurant. With additional TLC, the leftovers held up well, to provide several additional lobster meals. Need to go back to try their enticing and reasonably priced variety of lunch specials (more seafood, choices minus lobster). Another sought after box on my list, is now checked.
