As a Vegas local, I've been to more than my fair share of "fine dining" restaurants on the strip. I'm always willing to give new restaurants a bit of a pass as it takes time to work out the kinks. We had reservations, our table was not ready, we were seated in the lounge and somehow they then thought we didn't have reservations. That stuff happens with new places on the strip. I don't blame them. However, Wakuda was, without qualification, the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant like this. It was so bad that we left in the middle of dinner and walked over to Mott 32 to actually have a good meal. It's the first time I've ever done that in my life. It was that bad. Service is hit and miss, but that's not the issue. The food was downright bad, most of it inedible, and some of it even unsanitary. We were served warm raw tuna crispy rice. Like, above room temperature but not cooked. The caviar had the "best serve by date" label noticeably removed, and where the tin should have said Oscietra, the writing had been scratched off. It was noticeably cloudy. The creme fraiche was oddly sweet and overpowering and unusable. The beets in the beet salad were underripe and mealy. The toasts were so overly dried they were hard to eat. Dish after dish, just bad. When we informed the waiter (politely) to cancel the rest of the order and stopped eating there was no attempt to talk to a manager to just inform them of the issues. Inclusion tip for 2 people we had already spent $720 (and that was without the main courses. We sent basically every dish back untouched and no one ever asked is something wrong. No effort was made to understand what was wrong by management. There are plenty of good and great Japanese restaurants on the strip. This place is made just so photos can be posted to Instagram. It's really really bad. Go elsewhere. Go to Zuma. Go to Morimoto. Hell, save a few hundred and walk upstairs to Sushi Samba. Or do yourself a favor and go to Kame. read more

Poor service unfortunately. We went on a Monday evening, lots of empty tables throughout. At our table a young guy introduced himself as the waiters assistant or 2nd or something like that, and that our waiter would be along shortly to meet us. 10 minutes pass and I had to ask if we could order drinks. After our drinks came no one wanted anything to do with us. Me and my partner both felt embarrassed, it genuinely felt like we were being actively ignored, not just forgotten about. After 40 minutes when no one had come to take our order I asked for the check. The manager apologized and comped our one round of drinks and we left. The explanation was surprising - that there was a large table consuming our waiter's time - but the "busy table" was just another table of about 8 people. In addition there were many staff standing around while we waited to be served who could have come and said something to us. We had a wheelchair and they were accommodating of that. read more

We visited Las Vegas for a quick break after Christmas, and didn't book any dining in advance (oops). Turns out the days between Xmas and New Years are "high holiday" with lots of premier dining seats set aside for high rollers, so if you have your eye on any destination dining book in advance!! With that being said, this caused us to look outside the Wynn for some options at the Venetian next door and Wakuda had a small amount of availability so we strolled over. We had a great time - it has a different vibe from Wynn fine dining, more night clubby/glamour chic and would be fun with a date or a group. However, our child enjoyed it as well as it has all the ambient lighting, deep loungey seating, and visual drama (the neon street art and uplit sumo wrestler sculptures are great, mood builders) a tween girl could desire! The service was very, very nice and attentive (downright welcoming) with lots of touches like little extras for the kid. We enjoyed the signature cocktails, the toasts (including the vegetarian sundried tomato option), the supreme fatty toro, tempura, the crispy rice appetizer with avocado, a few other items and the fantastic miso ice cream. Everything was delicious though my child is used to very thin miso broth and deemed the soup "thick"- which it was, with a denser/smokier profile so be advised. Also, don't come in a rush - the food is prepared thoughtfully and it's all intentional + delicious, so though pricey - fewer dishes went a longer way. We were a little confused as to whether there was an expectation that we put all our main order in at once - where we are from (can't believe I just said that, haha) it's typical to add on as the evening progresses like tapas, but additions to our order were graciously accommodated. You may want to check that when seated + perusing the menu to put in the bulk of your order. My husband left wishing we'd ordered from the extensive sake menu, and vowing to do that next time. Our child said, "I liked that -it was different". I agree - a slight touch of West Coast meets Pacific with the lounge vibes and some creative farm to table touches (did I mention sun dried tomato and avocado) and we enjoyed the change! The service was bad (my boyfriend and I went together and the staff only spook to him, even though I made the reservations and paid the bill) and the food for us was just OK. A little loud for us as it reminded us being at at night club. We had the soft shell crab roll - just ok . We had sashimi combo plate, which was was good but not great, We think for the price point vs quality of the meal it was way overpriced. We've eaten at many other Michelin restaurants around the globe to compare - all are expensive. But I can usually understand why the price was charged. My wife and I dined last Friday night in the Omakase Room. We go out to dinner every night and have eaten meals through the United States and around the world. We had an incredible time at Wakuda. The evening was in the top 3 dining experiences of our lives. We are going back tonight to eat in the main dining room and will visit the Omakase Room again on our next visit to Las Vegas later this year. The food, the staff and the atmosphere were all superb. From the moment you walk in, you are treated very well! All staff are amazing! Welcoming, attentive, knowledgeable and just go all out to make your dining experience the best! The staff members are not the only thing amazing! The food is delicious! Kanpachi carp, salmon carpaccio, siakyo yaki, lobster and more! Try as much as you can! Fresh, flavorful and just a delight for your pallet. The cocktail and wine menu is extensive. If you cannot decide, a staff member can point you in the right direction! Decided to go on a date to the new spot Wakuda a couple days ago and had a beautiful time! It's not too often that the experience starts before you even get to the table but we were blown away by the artwork and hospitality before we even sat down! The host was so kind and courteous I believe her name was Essence. She even took the time to take us on a tour of the restaurant prior to dinner! We were excited to try this new, toney Japanese restaurant in the Palazzo and were initially very impressed by the decor. OK, the neon signs at the entryway were rather jarring against the aged wood in the hallways, but overall, very impressive. The waiter wanted to give us a lengthy explanation about the credits of the chef and the 5 different kitchens at Wakuda, but we had to stop him, because we were hungry. The portions were elf-food but they were very thoughtful and frankly beautiful to look at. Sadly, our stomachs left the experience craving a dessert somewhere. The bill was considerably grander than the dinner and we were scolded for being such Philistines as to ask for hot sake. read more

Agree with some of the other comments on this place being way overhyped and overpriced, and not entirely sure how this is a 2 star Michelin rated restaurant. We started with the sashimi tuna and it was good. The salad was horrible-gritty and not edible. They took it away and said they would replace it and use different greens. Once you have had a mouthful of dirt, it is hard to enjoy the rest of your meal. We had some sushi rolls, tuna and soft shell crab, they were okay. Miso soup and spicy seafood soup was okay also. First time in Vegas and was recommended wakuda by a good friend. Came with a group of 16 as was accommodated with exceptional hospitality from start to finish. Wanted to dine somewhere special since we were celebrating 2 birthdays. The vibe was amazing and the food was exquisite. Staff was amazing and gave myself and our group the best service we've ever experienced. One of the mangers named misty approached us as soon as we sat and made sure that we were taken care of throughout our whole experience. We we're treated like royalty from start to finish and even the general manager made sure that our group was taken care of with exceptionally service. Hands down best dining experience. read more

I was sad that there was no King Crab but the lobster salad was excellent as well as the ribeye. A bit pricey but worth it. Our server and the runners were super friendly and knowledgeable.
