Walden's is part lounge and part gathering place. Bring a computer w/ wireless internet or show up with others and have an actual "live" chat. Walden's puts the "house" in coffee house because it is either designed to be a house or was one at some point. So how is the coffee? I have to say delicious. Like another reviewer I agree that their coffee is good but their esspreso and capucinno is really good. Also, there is something nice about an actual coffee mug. read more

We loved the first Science Pub night on March 8th. The director of seismology from UNR gave a well balanced and stimulating presentation. There was beer/wine on hand and all the cafe drinks on hand. Loved the Mocha and loved the idea of getting the neighborhood talking about science and in Nevada earthquakes are deadly relevant. Very forward (for Nevada) thinking. Love coming to this place! The cheeseburger was made with Angus beef, so it was tasty, and the potato wedges were excellent! I also got 1/2 off of the iced coconut with chocolate coffee. Very good on a hot day! I also recommend the meatball sandwich and the Italian Dip sandwich. read more

Had an appt at Federal Bldg, and looked for a place close by for lunch. Found this place within a half mile..... great menu, great food, great ambiance, great service. Just loved it. HINT: They have 3 locations, and the one closest to the Federal Bldg is on Arlington Ave. Phone directions actually sent me down W. Used to be a great local spot pre CV19 so Bummer wife and I hand one of the worst brunch meals we've ever had. Service was OK in terms of pretty much all self service like a typical fast food restaurant. Picnic everything so plastic utensils and paper plates. Order a "build your own omlet" with all veggies and literally served on a soggy, dripping grease paper plate and I had one bite and picked around it a bit to find veggies or egg (with my plastic fork) and it was litterally a slab of fried cheese. Two bites of the spuds and they were so doused in salt inedible. Make your own mimosas, not like a mimosa bar, but like really, make your own. Here's a plastic solo cup of OJ and a 350ml bottle of bubbly. Better drink service on a red eye Southwest flight to San Diego. Thew whole thing in the garbage. Brunch fail. Gross. I've been living on the west side all summer and have become obsessed with Walden's. Not only is it nice to support local business, they drinks are SO much better than "the big chain." I love their muffins and today my husband tried a breakfast burrito and talked about it all day long. So the sad thing is we're moving out to Sparks this fall. Hands down the best breakfast spot in Reno. This is locally owned by one of the nicest families in Reno, and damn do they know how to cook good food. You can't go wrong there, I've tried everything and haven't been disappointed. Their lunch is also incredible. Wow! Delicious coffees. My wife was excited to find that they carry almond milk. She said her blended caramel latte was one of the best she's ever had. My vanilla latte was delicious. The breakfast was equally enjoyable. Very cool little spot with lots of happy people. read more

We come here at least once a week. It's got the best brunch food around. The smiley gentleman at the register is probably my favorite staff member, because he's always so welcoming big a big smile. I absolutely LOVE Walden's. After only moving back to Reno in January I was amazed at how quick the staff came to know me. Where I don't get down there that often maybe once every two weeks. After just 3 times they knew my drink! Simple dry cappuccino, but to know that I will always order one but come back to order another because they make them so good! The owner is so nice and friendly, the atmosphere is great. I have a major respect for his son who makes the best cappuccino you can get by far. You can get lost in a book for hours here. I love my little neighborhood coffee house! We frequent it all the time, can walk there and sit outside with the kids and dog. The food is homemade and delicious! The only thing that bums us out is that their kitchen fans are not very good so you end up smelling like grilled food all day if you eat inside (even just a quick stop for coffee, I can smell Walden's in my hair for hours after). Definitely deters us from going when it's cold and you can't sit outside. If you can sit outside or don't mind smelling like a grill, it's worth it! read more

There are many things I love about the Mayberry Walden's (good food and coffee, nice staff) but the air quality is horrible. Every time we leave there we smell like grease. I've even had people guess I had been there just by the way we smell. Yuck! They really need to improve their ventilation system. If they did, I'd give Walden's 5 stars! read more
