Went here for a simple air bag recall. I picked up the car and noticed the airbag light was on but I had already driven off. Pulled over and gave them a call and the advisor asked the tech what happened, and the tech said a module was unplugged before work was done and was plugged in after causing the light. I believed them at first but was skeptical. I have automotive knowledge and have been dealership tech(another manufacturer) for years now so I decided to diagnose it my self. Starting with the airbag they replaced, a quick inspection revealed that they didn't even plug in the new air bag. I'm not even angry that the airbag was unplugged but more disappointed in the fact they lied that there was another issue with the car and tried to sell me on a diagnostic for the airbag light when a quick re check would have solved the problem. Also as a technician I would definitely never deliver a car when the airbag light is on after I worked on the airbag system. I would also leave a detailed story why the airbag light is on since it is a SAFTEY system. Not letting the customer know that the light is on and having to find out when picking up the car is very unprofessional, would not recommend going here. read more

I paid $687 in registration and licensing fees when I bought my car from Walker Renton Subaru, but they never submitted the paperwork to the DMV. I had to take two days off work and go to the DMV twice just to avoid driving illegally before visiting family for Christmas. Since the DMV had no record of my paperwork, I was forced to pay another $410 for a 90-day permit and registration--money I don't have as I'm getting married next year. While I was at the DMV, Justin Skoll (Walker's Renton Sales Manager) told me over the phone to pay the fee again and send him the receipt, and he committed to reimbursing me. After I sent the receipt, he reversed his position and said he now has to wait for confirmation from the DMV before reimbursing anything--even though they admitted they put a stop on the check they originally sent. By Oregon and Washington law, it is the dealer's responsibility to ensure a vehicle can be registered when they collect registration fees. Instead, the dealership failed to process my paperwork, kept the $687 I paid them, and left me to pay the DMV again. Leading up to Christmas and my wedding, I am now out $1,097 and only have a temporary 90-day permit. As someone who has worked in dealerships and OEM's, I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this dealership. read more

I had a contract that was signed by me and Walker Subaru. It is for windshield replacement. Made an appointment to have my windshield replaced want me to be called hours later and be told that they were having some trouble with the people who underwrite the insurance so they couldn't do it today and that would have to wait. I did make an appointment to have it done next Tuesday and they should have this problem taken care of. However in the meantime they made me spend a whole day and have to allocate another day just to getting my windshield replaced and they don't not feel my pain and they will not give me anything to compensate me for my time. Poor communication, over promise and under deliver. My experience with this crap hole of a team was a complete nightmare. They were unable to get me financed on a 2023 Subaru, but before confirming they took a decent deposit from me and congratulated my 16 year old on his first car. I went in on a Sunday and nobody let me know until Wednesday it fell through. I asked for my deposit back and they let me know 6-10 business days until they could refund me. The following Saturday I went into Rairdon Subaru Auburn not only were they able to get us into a brand new 2026 car, less money down and lower interest. So I called Rairdon that following Tuesday and asked where they were at with the refund check as I'm a single mom and wanted to replenish my bank account immediately, the person I spoke to went to ask a financial advisor whom stated it would be there either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning. I drove out there in the evening Wednesday to give a buffer in time and probably shame on me for not confirming before going down there, however they didn't have my check. I told them I was busy Thursday and out of town Friday-Monday but needed to get the check back in my bank account to help replace funds in my account due to my other deposit on the other car. Our salesman said he would drive my check out to me Thursday, but I was going to be out of town for the day and asked if my kid (who was originally with me) could pick it up. I was given a sure. I then told them again via text he was coming in and they said "sounds good" my kid gets there and they won't give him the check even with me on the phone and proof of the messages between myself and the salesperson. I ended up leaving the job I was at so I could beat rush hour from Olympia to Renton. Finally got my check. No apologies just very dismissive when I was clearly frustrated and upset with their entire team. Told me I could talk to the GM whom should've come out to meet me. I honestly was so mad I couldn't stand in their building any longer and nobody offered to send him/her out to meet with me. If you don't mind wasting time, fuel and energy then this might be the place for you. I took it to another shop to get tested and it will need to be replaced. the multi -point inspection from Walker's said my battery was "checked and OK at this time." Their check list also indicated my wipers and air filters were "checked and OK at this time" but then they tried to upsell me stating my wipers and air filters need replaced. This place is horrible! A few years back I had them replace my brake pads and they forgot to screw them down. My 15 year old daughter (learners permit) almost crashed on I-5. Fast forward more recently I asked and paid for new wiper blades and they left the old blades on and simply put the new blades next to the old ones. My husband and I stopped in one evening to take a look at a car he had seen online. It was close to closing time, we did not expect great service. We were quickly greeted and introduced to Jonathan. We told Jonathan we were just looking around for WRXs. My husband was able to test drive one this same night. Jonathan was very knowledgeable about this vehicle and was super easy to talk to. We could tell he was still young and new to this career. Jonathan was not pushy and made us feel like making sure we found the right car for our family budget was importante to him too. Before we left we exchanged information and heard from him the very next day. We valued his time and efforts. We were able to find another car at another dealership that best fit our budget. If we were in the market for a new car we could have bought from him in a heartbeat. I hope he continues to receive mentoring from other experienced salespeople that aren't pushy or fake. TLDR - DO NOT GO HERE EVEN FOR WARRENTY SERVICE (which probably implies do not go here in general). Here's the story - I had a 1030 AM appointment to get my electrical issue (parasitic current drain killing battery) dealt with on a 2 year old outback with less than 12k miles. I brought the car in, checked in, and almost instantaneously I received a text stating i would get a link to a video soon describing the issues with the car and solutions, more over I was told nothing would be done without my signature. I also told the service advisor that I was going to run some errands while they looked at it. At 5PM I phoned back to see what was going on and I was told it should be sorted out either later that day or early the next day, but still did not get any detailed info other than the fact that the battery is dead (duh that's why it's there). At this point I haven't gotten anything more detailed not have I received anything authorizing whatever they were going to do (I still did not know). I never received an additional update that day. On the following day I expected an update that morning...crickets out of the dealershit. When 1PM rolled around I called them and they still were clueless and said they would call me back. I said okay - when? Whoever I was speaking with was unwilling to give me a time frame so I said can you agree to call me back by 2PM. They said yes. Two PM came and went with no phone call. So I called back and spoke to someone else who at least seemed interested in helping me, and promised to call me back by 230PM. Now I'm sitting here waiting for that call and it is now 230PM, no call, no text nothing. So far, so so so bad... So I called and asked to speak with a manager (his first name was Tyler). He was apologetic and now I am told that I will hear back by 430. I will update this today at 430 (or before if they actually call me back). I just have to say that, so far while polite, this has been very unprofessional. read more

When I arrived, they disclosed that they did not, in fact, have any of the model in question on the lot and wasted a bunch of time refusing to give me pricing on what they actually had, before finally came back with pricing that was dramatically higher than the advertised deal (more than 2x!). I would give zero or negative stars if possible. This dealer is deceptive, dishonest and disrespectful. Though I was contacted by them through the Costco auto program and Alyssa told me I'd get a least a $1700 discount, when I went there they wasted my time trying to gather financial info about me first, and then refused to give me any price for the car I was interested in unless I signed a form committing to buy the car in advance. They took 1 and 1 /2 hours of my time, including an inspection and test drive of my car for trade in. Then they refused to tell me what the trade in price would be, or any pricing info, unless I went through their "process" of signing a commitment. Alyssa, my contact, disappeared many times without explanation. I don't know what that was about but maybe to put pressure on me or make me feel disrespected? She then brought in a manager, a man whose name I didn't learn, and she refused to give me his name when I emailed her later. He did the inspection and test drive of my car for trade in. He consistently refused to give me any pricing info even though the Costco program touts hassle free up front pricing. I eventually walked out and emailed them later, again demanding the Costco price and trade in value. I pointed out that Costco has a hotline to report dealer abuse (which I have now done). Alyssa responded to my email sent after I left and demanding the Costco pricing with a "quote" for the Costco discount of only $1225, and I had to buy a "required" protection package of over $800. She said my car was worth only $200 though I had a Carfax offer of $2,000 which I mentioned to her manager. I later found a wonderful and honest dealership who gave me a substantial discount on the MSRP, far more than any Costco discount, and offered me $2,000 trade in. And did not attempt to charge me for any protection package nor claim that any was "required." Avoid these dishonest bozos. read more

We purchased our 2015 Subaru Forester at Walker's so I thought they would have our back when we needed a diagnostic inspection on the CVT. I already knew the CVT needed replacing because I took it to a non-Subaru 3rd party garage first for diagnosis and they confirmed full CVT failure. Subaru Corporate then informed me I needed an authorized Subaru dealer to confirm the CVT failure before beginning a warranty claim so we took it to Walker's. I told all this to the service advisor assigned to me and he promised they could/would confirm the CVT diagnosis with a single $200 diagnostic fee. Later that day he calls me to say Walker's needs to charge me another $570 to tear apart the transmission pan and inspect for excessive metal debris, bearing, belt, gear, and gasket damage. I asked him would this inspection finally confirm the CVT failure I had already confirmed with the independent garage. He could/would not say if this additional test would confirm the problem. I asked him to provide a Not to Exceed estimate for identifying the problem. Again he could/would not. At this point RED FLAGS were everywhere. So I called two other local Subaru dealerships. Both confirmed they could/would be able within 95% accuracy diagnose my CVT failure with a single $200 diagnostic test/fee. Additionally, they verified that when the CVT fails on a Subaru corporate replaces the entire CVT, not individual bearings, belts, gears, gaskets, etc. It is all or nothing, meaning any additional tests are meaningless and unnecessary once the CVT is diagnosed as failing. So I took it to one of the other dealerships and within a 30 minute test drive (something Walker's never offered or performed) they confirmed the CVT failure diagnosis allowing me to begin my warranty claim. Two Washington State laws protect consumers against these auto repair estimate practices. 1. The Automotive Repair Act (RCW 46.71) 2. The Consumer Protection Act (RCW 19.86) I encourage anyone who had similar experiences with Walker's to file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's Office. Better yet, save yourself the hassle and stay clear of Walker's. read more

I have "scheduled" two oil change services at Walker Subaru and both times they have been 15 mins late from my scheduled time to greet and visit me at the drop-off in my car. When I approach the counter 5 mins after my scheduled drop-off to ask about the timeline they are very short with me and flustered and say they have a line and not enough people. I would recommend allowing 20-30 mins after your "scheduled" drop off time to be checked in. The first time I cancelled because I didn't have space in my schedule that day. I scheduled at another dealership and it went smooth. This location is near my work so it is convenient. I tried again today hoping it was a fluke or bad timing. This time was the same, 15 mins late and multiple cars ahead of me so had to pull the plug. I rescheduled for later in the afternoon. Hopefully this goes better. read more

On 8/28/24, Walker Renton Subaru replaced both front struts and the passenger front axle and did some other work on my 2010 Outback. Their original multi-point inspection missed the issues with the struts and the axle. A Les Schwab shop caught the issues a few days after the Walker inspection while rotating the tires. I actually had to bring the car back to Walkers and show them the Schwab service report. It's worth noting that at first, they wanted to charge me an inspection fee to spot issues that they missed, while Schwab easily found them and, frankly, did the inspection work for Walker's. While replacing the axle seal and O-ring, they topped off the front differential and installed a nut. According to another Subaru dealer's servicing department, there is now "a leak from the front differential housing. The leak is coming from a crack in the housing near the check plug caused by over-torquing the bolt." The CVT transmission has to be replaced at an estimated cost of about $9,530.00 before tax! The other dealer provided the attached pictures and the above-quoted language in their inspection report. Boy, I tell you, the other dealer had phenomenal customer service and was friendly, professional, super knowledgeable, and supportive. I have been unable to speak with Walker's service manager for several days (there were other service issues)--he won't return calls, and for the last couple of days, they have apparently been screening my calls, as no one even answers when I call. I managed to speak with a person there today (of course the manager was out) by using my wife's phone. They are obviously screening my calls. So today (9/5), I opened a case with Subaru corporate. (800-782-2783) They were super friendly, super supportive, and promised significant engagement. There is also damage to my concrete parking pad caused by pooling differential fluid, and there is the cost of my son having to make a round-trip on the BC ferry boats to Victoria/Seattle when the car is fixed, as he was supposed to get the car to go to school at UVIC, but instead, I had to drive him up there, and he has no car. A huge inconvenience for him (and me). While I have a number of other grievances regarding very poor customer service and downright disrespect, the damage to the differential is obviously the primary reason for such a negative review. read more

Avoid Walkers Service Department at ALL COSTS. I'm not someone who typically leaves reviews, but my experience with Walker's Subaru was so frustrating, dishonest, and unacceptable that other customers need to be warned. We brought our Subaru in with a known head unit issue, the exact problem covered by a Subaru warranty extension. Instead of acknowledging this, Walker's Subaru claimed it wasn't covered--without any explanation. I was confused because my belief was it was certainly covered due to us having the exact issue that was subject to a class action and resulted in warranty extensions. I reached out to Subaru of America (SOA) directly. They were confused by Walker's denial and confirmed that our issue was, in fact, part of the known defect that is covered by the warranty extension. Then, even worse, SOA found that Gypsy, who were in contact with at Walkers, never even submitted a warranty claim. Gypsy then told SOA that something spilled on our head unit, which was something not communicated to us. SOA requested photos, which Walker's failed to timely send, so we sent our own. Again, SOA confirmed: no spill, and clearly a known defect. SOA told Gypsy to submit the warranty claim. Even after all this, Gypsy still refused to submit the claim, forcing SOA to intervene multiple times. Days passed with no action and no transparency from Walker's Subaru. Before writing this review or taking other action, I contacted Walkers in an attempt to understand how this could have happened and why the claim is not being submitted. Cheyenne answered the phone, who was also confused why this wouldn't be covered since they get this issue all the time, and she assured me that someone would give me a call back soon. Unsurprisingly, I still haven't received a call. Thankfully, Subaru of America agreed to cover the cost themselves, even though they clearly believe it is covered under warranty but wanted to quickly remedy this frustrating process. But I absolutely will not have this service department perform the repair. This is not just bad service, it is bad business. If you read the other reviews for Walker's Subaru, especially their service department, you'll see this is a pattern. Do not bring your vehicle here and hold Walkers accountable. read more

I purchased 2 brand new vehicles here in 2023 and 2024 and always loved this dealership however I am really disappointed in my experience at the service department. I came to get my 30,000 mileage service, Breanna checked me in and she was lovely. The process did take a while but she got me in a loaner as they said it would take a couple hours. My total cost for a 30k mileage service was $845 which is pretty outrageous for basic maintenance. After my car service was completed, I received a text with the total and mentioned that I had a $100 off $500 maintenance coupon from the Puyallup Subaru dealership. In the past, they've accepted these coupons even when presented at pickup. However, this time I was told that because I brought it up after the service was completed, they couldn't apply the discount. I asked if a manager could make an exception, especially given my loyalty as a customer, but they still refused. On top of that, I continued to wait for my car for 20 minutes in the lobby when I arrived back to the dealership for pickup. This inconsistency and lack of customer care was disappointing. However over more than 4 hours they attempted to lower my cars value by $3500 while increasing the purchase price by $2500. Played good/cop bad cop with managers and salesmen and denied they even work with true car. This scam event only ended after I drove off and they called to accept the truecar deal as promised. Do not take your car to these people for their $400 Detailing. Last year we bought a 2024 Subaru Cross Trek from Walker's. The car doesn't get many miles put on it so we just took it in for it's first oil change with around 5000 miles. I wanted to do something nice for my wife so I decided to get the interior/exterior detail. So the deal was they were supposed to keep the car for 24-48 hours. They had it overnight and called us to come pick it up next morning. First look at the car, terrible. It had some water spots on the driver side that were there from the sprinklers at home. First, obviously we can't hide those. Two, nobody from the dealership called us and said anything about the water spots, whether it is harder to remove them, cost more, nothing. I mean, in addition to not getting those out, the paint wasn't smooth, it wasn't off the windows or the wheels, and there were literally runs of whatever they used on the non-painted trim. I am not sure what I expected for the $400+ dollars, but I expected it to be done right. The service advisor agreed that it wasn't done right, so they kept it and sent it back. They called late in the day and we were unable to pick it up until the morning. I was actually shocked when I got my first look. I mean, now the whole car looks like someone took a brillo pad to it. Paint is completely swirled and not at all smooth. Still has water spots in places, on the windows and wheels still weren't done. Fortunately, the service advisor, I believe it was Jessica, if not I apologize, anyway, she agreed that it wasn't done right. We ended up not getting charged for the detail. Here is what I don't understand, she took a bunch of pictures, I only took a couple with my camera. A few days later I get the obligatory text message from Walkers asking "how was our service." Needless to say, I ran out of characters in the negative response. A day or so later I get another text message from someone asking if I could send photos and my concerns, so I did. I let them know the service tech had a bunch of photos and I only had a couple and gave them a very detailed response including that I didn't get charged and I was taking my car to someone else to have the paint corrected. After that, I get a reply, Thanks for all the info etc....please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Am I wrong to think, that this is complete BS? I sent a message, first I let them know, I had no idea "who" I was actually texting with because they didn't put a name. I also am basically at a loss for the fact that they pretty much ruined the paint on the car, yes it can be recovered however, that basically they are just wiping their hands of it. I get a reply with a name, "From your message, it sounds like it all is handled at the moment- am I mistaken? What else do you need from us at this time." Does this sound like someone or a company who just ruined a paint job on a customer's car who is going to step up and take accountability for their mistake? Then, working with Jessica in the service department, I was charged for my oil changes even though I had a prepaid service plan. Then, I have been waiting for a part for three months and they said they would call me when it was in. I called back about 6 weeks ago to see if it was in and they said no and that at this point I was a "waiting game". Finally, I called another Subaru service center today and they said that there were plenty of these parts in the warehouses, plus they had seven in stock. I'm on my second Subaru and we've had a few serious issues with the Service Department at Walker's Renton Subaru. Once, on a service of my first Subie, I was told I needed to change my differential oil. My car wasn't that old so I thought that was strange. I had my mechanic look at it, and he said that Service lied to make money. So, on my next service I asked them to check the differential oil and told them I had my mechanic change it since they told me it needed to be changed (I didn't, no one touched it) and they said it looked good, so yeah, they lied about it. More recently, I've been having trouble with my two year old Subie. My drivers side window was glitching and anytime you try to roll it up, it gets to the top and auto rolls down. Also, my (drivers) seat has been squeaking and something about the cushion feels different... less supportive. I took it to Walker's Service THREE TIMES and was told they couldn't reproduce the squeaking so they just did nothing. As for the window, they "reset it" and a couple days later the problem started again. Today I took the issues to another local Subaru Service Department, and it turns out the seat wasn't welded properly and I need a brand new seat... They ordered the new seat and they will install it this coming Thursday. As for the window, they reproduced the problem, took it apart, cleaned and lubricated the track. THIS is how a Service Department should operate. I've also been having an electrical issue with my car. It acts weird when I connect my phone. So, when my car wouldn't hang up a call, I drove immediately to Walker's to show them the active problem. They wouldn't look at it.... and of course they "couldn't reproduce the problem" when they finally got to it because they made me turn the car off... The other Service Department diagnosed the problem, and checked and updated my car's firmware. My firmware was outdated by several versions... and I would know that if Walker's had done their job. Another issue I have with Walker's is that they keep my car all day for a 15 min. issue. and then tell me they want to keep it overnight. All I needed was for them to look at 2 parts I need replaced and 1. Tell me the part number and 2. Order the parts. Finally, I had to take a Lyft to pick my car up and I never went back. If they can keep you guessing long enough, when your warranty runs out they can charge you for things they should have been doing the whole time. Considering they already lied to me about the differential oil, what else wouldn't they lie about? read more

I feel like I got scammed by Walker's Renton Subaru! I brought my car in for a routine oil change. They told me I had a leak and the o-ring on my oil level sensor was the cause and it was replaced. A couple weeks later I noticed a rattling sound from my engine when I accelerated. I brought it back in and they told me they found loose/missing nuts on my turbocharger and much of the turbocharger related hardware was missing. I let them know this seems very odd since they were the last ones to touch my car. If the parts were stolen the thief put the skid plate back on after stealing the parts. I find this highly unlikely. They also said I had an oil leak and the oil level sensor needed to be replaced. This is the same sensor that they just replaced the o-ring on a few weeks ago! I was told the leak was bad and they highly recommended I get this fixed. Since my car was rattling, already down the cost of the diagnostic fee, and was told my leak was bad I agreed to the charges of $2,139! Before I picked up my car I let the service manager know my thoughts on the missing parts. He believes I had someone else work on my car in-between visits. Walker's Renton Subaru didn't recommend any other work so why would I take my car to someone else right after my visit and then try to blame them for missing parts! As for the oil level sensor, it didn't seem odd to him that the o-ring to the oil level sensor can fail and then the sensor fail a few weeks later causing a new leak. I'm questioning if I even had a leak in the first place. I wouldn't trust Walker's Renton Subaru. read more

had a truly awful experience at this dealership. Everything started off well with a friendly salesman named Huang, but things quickly took a turn for the worse. After a brief discussion, he asked us to sign a paper promising we'd buy the car that day--before we were even told the price! When I expressed that we weren't comfortable signing anything without knowing the cost, another salesman came in, and his attitude was downright rude. He spoke to us in a condescending manner and insisted we couldn't even begin negotiating until we signed the paper. As we left, he shouted to his manager, "They weren't even planning to buy a car!" It was incredibly unprofessional and left us feeling disrespected. Needless to say, we walked out and ended up purchasing our vehicle at a much more welcoming and transparent dealership. My experience was not good. I would recommend that you DO NOT go to Walkers. If you must then plan on playing the "game". I also feel that if you are a female please take a man with you, and plan on spending at least 5 hours there. I am an older woman and went alone. I feel I was taken advantage of, I feel like I was not given a fair deal. I have made several attempts at communicating with Jimmy Vamvas the General Sales Manager of this location with no response. Costco has reached out to Walkers Renton Subaru on my behalf and they have not responded to them either. Seems like the way they deal with the shadiness is to ignore it. So what can I do? I wanted to leave a review for Walker Subaru but especially for their salesman Jared who helped us find and buy the right car for my mother 3 months ago. I am very apprehensive about car salesmen and can walk away on a dime if they are pushy, rude or most importantly do not keep their word. I shopped the competition and Jared gave us the best deal so we went to Walker. I was apprehensive and told him that I was because of dishonest car salesmen in the past and it was a long drive for us. Jared reassured me that what he quoted is what we will wind up paying. He wound up keeping his word and never once changed any quote or tried to push anything extra cost wise on us. He was very professional, polite, kind and he listened. Most importantly he gained our trust. When we were in financing signing for the car they were awesome as well and got us finished fast. We were beyond happy with Jared and Walker Subaru and we will be purchasing our next new subaru for the family within the next year and will definitely be going back thanks to Jared and the trust that was built at Walker Subaru. read more

Update: looked it up and enabling the alarm was trivially easy AND my alarm was already active when I bought the car, so Walkers Renton Subaru essentially scammed me out of $600 Spent a long time negotiation the price of a used vehicle with one of their salesmen. I negotiated no b.s. dealer fees, just the price of the car plus tax title and licensing. Salesman agreed to this and we shook on it. After waiting over an hour to start financing paperwork the last sheet I had to sign showed a breakdown of the charges, including a $200 documentation fee and a $600 fee for disabling/enabling the car alarm. I had been there for nearly 5 hours at that point and too tired to fight (probably their strategy, my mistake). Was told to get the alarm reactivated when I picked up my plates. Never got a call that my plates were ready, only knew after calling myself a few days before the temps expired. Inquired about getting the car alarm activated, no one knew what I was talking about. Was referred to service department and they didn't really know what I was referring to. They said I would have to wait around 3 hours no matter if I had an appointment or not, and that I would be charged for the service unless they had written consent from a sales manager. I have tried to get in touch with a sales manager but have not been successful. I'm beyond frustrated, avoid this dealership at all costs. read more
