This very new restaurant is in a very old building, which I love. The owner is local and already a successful restaurateur. Be sure to park in the garage next door then get validated at the restaurant. Neighborhood parking is very slim in this area. I've been twice and both times, the food and service have been great. I was nervous about grilled trout because I've had some mediocre experiences in the past, but this trout was easily the best I've ever had. The deviled eggs appetizer was great, as was the salmon and the Hugo Spritz. Our table had various cocktails and mains and everyone was happy. read more

Tried Walloons on day 4 of being open. The lobster roll wasn't bad but real lobster roll lovers are used to rolls that are full of lobster. The lobster was chopped into smaller pieces with celery and onion. It completely takes away from the taste of the lobster. The celery overpowers the lobster. Also tried the deviled crab dip and you could not taste any crab meat what so over. It tasted like a celery dip with no crab in sight. I did let the host know and he advised that he would take that info back to the chef. My husband said the Italian beef sandwich wasn't bad. Overall the food was okay but the customer service was great. I will give them more time to establish themselves. read more

I had a business lunch with a party of 8 people. For most of us it was our first time at Walloon's. Our server did a great job introducing us to the menu. She recommended the Redfish Beignets as a starter and they were excellent. I tried the Pan Roasted Salmon at her recommendation and found it delightful. There is plenty of free surface parking nearby and the restaurant will reimburse parking in the garage. Ambiance was good. Most importantly, my guests enjoyed the experience too! Great atmosphere, good service, recipes need some work. I'm torn on this because overall we had a good experience except for some bad execution on certain dishes. Moulet Frites: delivered with at least 3 mussels still closed. Those should have been discarded in the kitchen. There was also some grittiness in the broth making us think they weren't properly clean. Lobster roll: at $30 would expect to see some good pieces of lobster. This pieces were oddly finely chopped, like I'd been given the scrap Lobster pieces, also had that kinda mushyquality overcooked or prefrozen lobster gets. It was wayyyy oversaiced with too much tarragon, essentially masking the flavor anyway Lobster Mac and cheese: I'm not sure there was even one piece of lobster in there. It did seem to have bacon added, and they used a very sharp cheddar that basically resulted in bacony, smokey shells and cheese. Again, at $27 this was a major disappointment . They need to work on their recipes and kitchen execution. Space is pretty and our server was great so there's that. read more

Food was pretty good. Four of us shared multiple dishes. Redfish beignets 5 stars. Seafood tower 5 stars. Shrimp was the best we've had. Tuna crudo was amazing. Beef tartare 2.5 stars. Too vinegar heavy for our liking and they pre spread the tartare on the toasted bread so it ends up soggy. Flavor profile isn't traditional. Presentation needs changed. Wedge salad 4 stars. Crispy calamari salad 4 stars. Burger. 5 stars. Truly delicious. They split it 4 ways for us and it was great. Bread pudding. 3 stars. Cinnamon heavy and not enough sauce or ice cream to make a sauce. Service was odd. Wait staff was friendly, but we had to ask for water refills, fresh plates for courses and bar drinks were slow to come. Overall we enjoyed the dinner and would recommend. read more

Walloons is a lovely new restaurant in the Fort Worth area, bringing fresh life to a lackluster seafood scene in the area. The interior and overall aesthetics are great. The service was a little meh. We went close to opening so there weren't a lot of people in there and yet we barely saw the server. We came here for our anniversary and it was kind of like "oh congrats, now what can I get you". Bit disappointing. For the food, the spicy tuna crudo was good, but could've used chips instead of endives. It needed that crunch and touch of salt. The pan roasted salmon was probably the best thing we ordered, very good. But, the Braised Short Rib was incredibly chewy! I mean any braised meat should be tender and fall apart, but this needed a steak knife. When we told the server at the end it was like "oh I'm sorry I could see if we can cook you a new one" but it has been so long after we received our food that we just wanted our ticket to head out. When you're spending $150+ on dinner you expect it to be exceptional and it wasn't. Because it's one of the few seafood places in the area we'll probably give it another chance but it was a let down as a first go. read more

I'm a foodie and I was super excited to try this place, and actually have reservations next weekend I'm canceling. Found myself on Magnolia with an appetite at 11 today and stopped in for lunch with my girlfriend. Had two craft cocktails (meh), and the fried oysters (5/10), the deviled eggs (6/10), and the BBQ shrimp (that should be taken off then menu). Not Impressed! I made reservations at Walloon's for my hubbies 73rd birthday. We arrived at 5:30 and the restaurant was already full. We were seated next to the door. ATMOSPHERE: Nicely appointed décor. Large horseshoe shaped bar with tables and booths on either side. Counter seats at the raw bar. The noise level is very high. SERVICE: Staff were punctual and checked back after each course. Food was delivered very quickly after ordering, almost fast food like. We were in and out within an hour. So if you like a leisurely dinner then hold off on ordering between courses. DRINKS: We wanted sparkling water and they only offered Topo Chico, which is a little too minerally for delicate seafood courses. Hubby went with the Topo Chico and I ordered a white wine. APPITIZERS: We ordered Fried Oysters Rockefeller ($17) and Beer Battered Redfish Beignets ($15). I was not impressed with the Oysters Rockefeller at all. In fact I wouldn't even call it that. The oysters (about 4-5) were overly fried and dry, placed on top of creamed spinach. For $17 I could have had a whole basket of fried oysters at a fried fish restaurant. The Battered Redfish served with a dill dipping sauce was the best dish of the whole night. SALAD: We split the Crispy Calamari Salad ($18). Again the calamari was overly fried and dried tiny tentacles, served with a coleslaw type salad, candied hazelnuts, strawberries and slivered apple. I could not find a single hazelnut in my salad and only a couple of sliced strawberries and apple. There was not enough vinaigrette on the slaw so the whole dish was too dry and we both left our salads uneaten. ENTRÉE: I had the seared Redfish ($36), which came with 4 mussels and two shrimp in a tomato bouillabaisse sauce. The fish was cooked nicely, the mussels, well they are mussels, the shrimp were under cooked and tuff. I shared one shrimp with hubby and he agreed, so they were not eaten. Hubby had the Lobster Roll ($27) and upgraded from chips to fries. We have had many lobster rolls in New England and we were excited to try the one at Walloon's. This was not a Lobster roll. It was a Lobster Louie Salad on a bun. The lobster was minced into very small pieces and mixed with way too much celery. In fact the celery pieces were much bigger than the minced lobster. A Lobster Roll should be all about the lobster. Big chunks of lobster. Google New England Lobster Roll and check out those images. So for $27 this was absolutely not worth the money. OVER ALL: One of the biggest disappointments for us was that all the dishes we ordered had no seasoning, none, and were extremely bland. Just a little pinch of salt would have enhanced the food and improved the overall taste. There just was no seasoning at all on any dish. I expected more for what is listed as an upscale coastal seafood restaurant. read more

The food was delicious. We had deviled eggs, hot crab dip and fish beignets. One concern with the dip is it came with 5 slices of crostini. We had a group of 6. Come on- add one more slice! We requested more and it never came. 5 wasn't enough for the mini skillet of dip. Beignets were fantastic and the dill sauce perfect. The trout was excellent as was the pan-seared salmon. Lobster Mac n cheese was good. The three desserts were a hit. The lemon blueberry bread pudding was delicious (and I don't usually care for bread pudding). Came for a birthday dinner party of 8. Everything started out picture perfect. Adult bev's were tasty after settling in we opened with appetizers- Mothers Deviled Eggs $14, Redfish beignets...don't remember price but delicious, 1 doz raw oysters listed as MP (market price). And that's where the train left the track. When they came out all not 1 or 2 all were literally the smallest any of us had ever seen in our life. It was obvious they were harvested way too early. After 50 + yrs eating oysters never have i been served a dozen like this. No exaggeration every oyster on the plate couldn't cover the width of my little finger. Any reputable restaurant would have 1. Warned us or offered a couple more. Now I start wondering what their market price is. All across FW oysters range around $16 1/2 doz - $24-30 for 12. I politely inquired and was told $48 for the dozen. Waitress l ft the room and everyone's mouth just dropped. That's &51.96 for in all honesty you add all 12 together and you might have had 3 small medium oysters. We all quietly decided to pay our bills and leave. Wound up going to Chumleys Steakhouse and spent over $870 and felt like we got a much better value. read more

Drinks were good - the Bloody Mary was thick, seedy and spicy - which thankfully I like! Was expecting more of a garnish - simply comes with 1 green olive and a lime. Espresso martini (pictured) was delicious (it's premixed). Now for the food: - MUST ORDER: deviled crab dip. Comes with crispy but still soft crostinis - so rich and delicious. - SKIP: deviled eggs. They were tiny and lacked any other flavor or elements other than egg and Mayo. Lobster roll: the inside: divine, fresh, yum! The bun had potential, but left too long it will get soggy, and maybe I'm the problem, but I cannot handle soggy bread. Bouillabaisse: a highlight! Rich and tasty, and bigger portions than you might expect! Salmon: undercooked, surrounded by leeks that tasted like they had been over-smothered in Alfredo sauce. Don't believe the hype. Came on an early Sunday afternoon with high hopes, only to be slapped in the face with mediocre food and crap service. Our waiter didn't know the menu, having to refer to someone else about how they serve oysters. Then when he returned we ordered drinks, only for him to come back and say that neither beer we ordered was available. We sprung extra for some cocktails that were run of the mill. Nothing bad, nothing great. Oysters were fine but you're doing yourself a disservice if you choose to eat here rather than Hudson House. The fried redfish was great, as was the salmon with leaks. But my god, I've never had Russian prison goulash before but I imagine Walloon's redfish entree comes close. You're pretty much ordering Campbell tomato soup with a sad piece of fish and some shrimp mindlessly floating in the harsh tomato swamp. Since everything took forever to come out we ordered bread pudding a few minutes after our entrees arrived. And yet it still came way after we were done. And upon seeing that we didn't enjoy it, then & only then! Did our waiter say and I quote "yeah.. todays the last day this version of bread pudding is gonna be on the menu, the next one is gonna be more traditional and better" THAT WOULD'VE BEEN GREAT INFORMATION TO KNOW BEFOREHAND. Overall a $200 dinner that left us annoyed and hungry. Do not come here unless you're an influencer and give the kitchen a heads up on when you'll be there. read more

It has a great feel and ambiance and some of the food was nice. Bar service was ok, but slightly rude. My biggest complaint is the lack of appetizers. Their appetizer menu is simply not good. Walloon's is a much needed addition to Magnolia Avenue in Fort Worth's Fairmount-Southside. This restaurant is in the old Fort Worth National Bank building and they kept the vault inside. The atmosphere is very cool. The drinks were tasty and made quickly by expert staff. I was surprised how well the waitstaff did during only their third week. This restaurant is a great date spot! Redfish and Oysters were perfect. Deviled eggs and Redfish Beignets were also a highlight. 10/10 would recommend. read more
