The Arby's of Pawtucket MA.... Stopped by on my way to the Hasbro Toy Factory looking for Mr Potato Head. Ordered a basic roast beef sandwich & fries to keep things simple. My roast beef was very moist and bursting with meat flavors. I was most surprised by the golden brown fries on the crispiness ( hell ya ) my fav. I went to the bank just before stopping in to Walt's on Newport Ave and withdrew $100 ( 5 $20 bills) and then proceeded to WLt's to purchase a Fish and chip dinner which came out to $9.72 I handed the girl a $20 bill the she placed in the drawer and then handed me 28 cents change ,,,,, when I started to her I gave you a twenty she looked on the receipt and stated no it says her you gave me a 10 so obviously instead of placing the bill I gave her on the top of the cash drawer she placed it directly inside so not really knowing what I gave her. First time here, and just finished the jumbo roast beef. Pretty good, tasted fresh. I ordered a side of mozzarella sticks, that weren't sticks after the cook got done roughing them up. I don't know what they ever did to him, but he treated them like they cheated on the onion rings or something. So...sandwich was decent, sticks were junk and the soda was great. When I'm in a pinch Walt's is where I go. It's quite similar to Miller's in East Providence and North Attleboro. The menu is pretty simple but they've expanded the menu options they offer after a recent renovation they've done. the menu prices haven't really changed much over the years and remain comparable to other local sandwich shops. The staff always appear friendly and professional. they do an excellent job of serving customers at record speeds and they also keep the restaurant in great condition. My only complaint is that you can't order in advance via phone unless it's Wednesday or Fridays. in that case they'll allow phone orders but only if you purchase an order of fish and chips. read more

Ordered through the drive thru and waited, and waited, and waited....while the lady ay the window and the car in front of me had a long conversation, mind you she already received her food. Sandwiches grow in size based on the amount of meat desired. Turkey is available as well. Aides range from fries to coleslaw to baked beans. Fish and chips on Friday in true catholic centric fashion. Matter of fact, a King Walt Combo (4oz roast beef sammy, small fry, med drink) came to $6.01. Ballsy move Walt. Low tech, lightning fast food that brings the locals stampedin' for lunch. The meat is moo moo rare and comes stacked on a buttered&grilled sesame roll. Slather a little BBQ on top and they'll write the Dear John letters to Arby's and Kelly's for you while you finish. For the sanguine-free flesh aficionados, check the roast turkey sandwich or the twice-weekly fish fry (Wednesday/Friday). The only plastic accepted is an empty tray, so bring cash. Punks. read more

The French fried potatoes here are the best I've encountered: nicely browned but not overly so, crisp, soft and mealy inside and with genuine potato flavour, not just grease. Beef sandwiches are rare and the grilled buns a delight. I had the fried clam strips too and found them very tasty although like most Rho Dylanduhs I do prefer bellies. This Walt's is the best of the best. Clean, fast service, superb noshing, decent pricing. So what's not to like? BTW Damien, I've had them with the barbecue sauce but that beef is so flavourful I just do prefer not to cover it up. A bit of salt and pepper is more than enough to gratify me. read more

I can't believe I've lived in RI for over three years and have just gotten around to trying Walt's famous roast beef sandwiches. When my bf suggested we stopped here for a quick bite while out running errands I was a little bit skeptical, but I left pleasantly surprised. Sure, we were the youngest people in the joint, but it was kind of fun. I had the traditional roast beef sandwich with lettuce and tomato and it was tasty! The buttery grilled bun is a nice touch and the roast beef was warm and juicy. Next time I think I'd get a side of horseradish sauce for my sandwich to go give it a little zing. The walls have photographs of Slater Park and other RI landmarks. It's a no-frills kind of place, but service was friendly and efficient, and our lunch came out right around $10 (for two). Accidentally walked into Walt's of Pawtucket a half hour before they opened. All of the neon lights were on in the front window and the door was unlocked and several cars were out front. Immediately I was met by two extremely rude female staff that were very aggravated my friend and I came in. One of them very rudely told me "can't you see we are closed". I apologized and said the door was unlocked and she replied with "well if you are paying attention you would see it says 11 on the door". I have worked in a restaurant for 6 years and I never would have spoken to a customer like that. Mistakes happen, if they were polite about it I would have come back. I ordered the Yukon roast beef. The roast beef is tender and moist. The fries are just right. There are plenty of sizes of roast beef sandwiches to order from the menu, from 1.5 oz all the way up to 8 oz. A good place for a lunch stop while on the run. read more

A perfectly fine roast beef sandwhich, but just short of the mark. I got a King-sized sandwich combo with fries and a drink. I liked the buttered bun. I liked that the roast beef looked like roast beef and was not purple (I'm looking at you, Arby's). I was left wanting more in the seasoning department. The buttered bun had more flavor than the meat itself, unfortunately. The meat was piled high in the middle and was sparse around the edges, so it did get better once I got to the inside portion, but by then I had eaten half of the sandwich. The BBQ sauce tasted a bit generic as well. They nailed the fries. No refills on drinks was a bummer. read more

Who here enjoys a sewage smell when they eat? Not me that is for sure. The food is ok but nothing to write home about. Unless you like dry meat you will need the sauce which is the only thing that is halfway decent. Service is hit or miss. We haven't eaten here in years, and were excited to stop in for a bite after leaving the Harley dealership. The place smells funny, not in a good way, kinda sour. With happy memories we ordered anyway, and our food did not take long to be ready. The large fry, which was almost $3, would be more like a small at most places, and was mostly stubby little pieces of French fry as opposed to actual French fries. My roast beef had very little flavor at all, and needed bbq sauce just to taste like something, my husband's however just tasted "off". His appeared to be a mix of nice rare roast beef and some gray roast beef of indeterminate age that he believed to be the source of the off flavor. My daughter had the Turkey deluxe, Which was fine, but needless to say we will not be back. Next time we will go to Miller's. read more
