It's been 12 years since I've eaten at Wan Lung LOL. But after coming back last night I wonder why I haven't stopped by since high school. Food portions are HuGE, I paid 10$ for a large portion of shrimp chow mein. I was given complementary tea which was nice and hot. I split the dish between me and my son and we had plenty to bring home for another meal the next day. The noodles were made fresh, and the shrimp was nice and juicy and they didn't skimp on pieces. Additionally the only way to access an old menu is through doordash & it is impossible to know what food items there are to select from since their menu is outdated or not available. This place is amazing! First off, the quality of the food is top notch. We tried a lot of things - potstickers, hot and sour soup, pork fried rice, General Tso's chicken, Szechuan chicken with onion and peppers, egg rolls, and chicken lo mein. Everything was very, very tasty and cooked extremely well. Secondly, the service was very prompt, friendly and attentive, even though they were quite busy! Lastly, the portions are huuuge! I don't normally get excited about large portions, because to me it's all about food quality and good service. However, this restaurant has the best of all these qualities, plus large portions and very reasonable prices. One of the reasons we were able to try so much was because I ordered dinner combo #5. It included your choice of soup, an egg roll, General Tso's chicken, chicken lo mein, and pork fried rice. All for about $13. We had a really nice lunch today at Wan Lung. Just happened to be in the neighborhood and thought we'd stop in based on the other Yelp reviews. The place is unassuming...sandwiched between other businesses in a commercial strip mall. But I could tell, when I walked through the door, that we were in for some good flavors. We ordered from the lunch menu which is reasonably priced; about $7.50 on average for most dishes. I ordered the garlic chicken and hub had the sweet and sour chicken. Both dishes came with choice of soup, fried rice, crispy egg rolls (or BBQ pork slices) and tea. Both dishes came to the table straight from the wok, piping hot, and delicious. Be warned: portions are generous so we had plenty to take home for breakfast (yes, breakfast...you got a problem with that??). We'll definitely be back! read more

Most of the time I've ordered, food has been hot, fresh and tasty. I guess it depends what you get, though. Some of the food is a lot less seasoned than other options so be aware. Wan Lung is a favorite. Their portion sizes are obscenely large, and unlike most places that use huge portion sizes to compensate for lack of quality, the quality here is most excellent! Wan Lung's fare is typical "American" Chinese, and doesn't disappoint, except in the "heat" department. All of their "hot" items have no discernible heat, and they do not make it any spicier even when ordering it as hot as they can make it. The people who run the place are among the nicest people you could hope to deal with, and they recognize you and are genuinely happy to see you when you come in. We always get take-out here, thus the low number of check-ins despite the fact that I've been here probably 100 times in the past 9 years. Here's a tip for getting take-out: be sure to order their house-made hot mustard. It's far better than the packets that they send with the take-out, and is a bargain at $.50 / small cup. read more

I'm just going to start out by saying that I'm confused about West Coast Chinese. Chinese takeout on the East Coast is very consistent, and frankly a staple of our lives. There's something fundamentally different about takeout Chinese food on the West Coast. So far, I'm a little disappointed. That being said, this was my experience at this particular restaurant: Pros: - The atmosphere of the restaurant itself is great - The staff are extremely friendly Cons: - I've ordered three different chicken dishes from their menu and they were all in the same brownish not-so-great sauce, with minor differences per dish. The three dishes were: sesame chicken, orange chicken, and general tsao's chicken. For the sesame chicken, they add sesame seeds. For the orange chicken, they added an entire orange peel. And for general tsao's they added a speck of spice. I don't like this sauce at all, and it makes an appearance on so many of their dishes, it's not worth it to gamble on ordering with them anymore. read more

Okay, here's the thing. I'm from the East Coast, so my definition of what Chinese food is may be different than yours. We have a Chinese food restaurant every mile or so, and we order Chinese take-out almost as much as we order pizza. It's amazingly difficult to find Chinese restaurants on the West Coast. It was hard for me in San Diego, too. Don't get me wrong, there's plenty of innovative and unique Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese (etc.) restaurants, but sometimes I just want the kind-of-greasy but delicious Chinese food that I'm used to! Wan Lung fits this bill, and is actually even better than any Chinese food I've had in NJ/NYC, and that's the truth. It was so delicious. The service here is incredible, too. They asked us if we wanted a booth instead of a table and sat us at a large booth that would fit at least 6. I kept asking if it was okay and that we could sit at a table, but they refused! They bring you hot tea, which I love. The portions here are HUGE, and the prices are not. We started with Wonton Soup, which was piping hot and delicious. It was full of vegetables, too, like carrots, mushrooms, and cabbage. It was extremely comforting. The entrees we ordered were the Shrimp with Asparagus in a Black Bean Sauce and the Vegetable Lo Mein. I had no idea that the entrees come served Family Style. The portions are gigantic! They even give you a large bowl of rice, and one entree is enough to share between two people easily. Everything was incredibly fresh. I was honestly surprised. The shrimp was one of the best quality I've had in a Chinese restaurant. The asparagus was fresh and crisp and green. I highly recommend that dish. The Lo Mein was delicious. Really good Chinese at very affordable prices. I'm fairly picky about Chinese food & I enjoyed my order at Wan Lung. I had Egg rolls, orange chicken & mu shoo chicken. I only wish they kept their online accounts up to date. They were closed for a long time during the spring/summer (assuming Covid related) then opened up for a bit (I was there late fall?) and now (last time I checked) they're closed again. My family and I have been eating here for years and we love it. Big shareable portions for a descent price, and the customer service is awesome. They fulfill our request of putting no MSG in the food, and it still tastes great. A lot of my Chinese friends say that place is bad, but then again, a lot of my Chinese friends do own restaurants and have their competition. I've been a regular at this restaurant for years now so I feel its my duty to share my love for this little clackamas chinese gem. I can't say I really know authentic chinese food so I doubt if this is authentic, but it's damn good and it's a pretty big bang for your buck. The portions are huge! If you're a first timer you must try the chicken chow mein made with thicker chewier egg noodles, the orange chicken, or the crispy green beans. You can get the green beans with chicken if you ask. The lunch specials are the best deal! $6 gets you a huge plate of food, soup, fried rice, and either a spring roll or barbecue pork. If you can't dine in, their takeout is pretty worth it. I'll stop and get a dinner order of barbecue pork fried rice for around $8(a personal favorite) and eat it for lunch for 3 or 4 days. Sure they probably use msg in their food. Sure I'm going to die of kidney failure from the sodium, but its oh so worth it. read more
