Amazing! Don't miss out on this place! I could tell that all the staff there are great but our waiter was the sweetest, nicest, most welcoming waiter. She seriously made us feel at home. The place is very clean and very nicely decorated, and if you like a bar - there's a bar with TVs. I will say this, I've never had a spicy margarita punch me in the throat before until I came here. That being said, I didn't hate it, but if you can't handle spicy, skip it and ask for not spicy. The food was really good. Every dish was filled with flavors and you could tell was made special. You could tell it was marinated their special way, cooked the way they cook it, and even plated their own way. Did not disappoint one bit. After seeing Wan's Tik-Tok videos for a year, we decided to go give it a try. We received the menus and started perusing them. I asked if they had one in Chinese so my wife could easily read it. She doesn't read English too well. To my surprise, they didn't have one. OK. No problem, I know what she likes so I ordered for her. I was hoping for more actual Chinese fare, but it was all Americanized Chinese dishes. I ordered the Sichuan Beef (which was marked spicy) and asked for it to be made extremely spicy. The waiter told me that he would bring some chili oil with the meal. I also ordered the Velveted Shrimp, Green Beans with Pork (which I was hoping would be like a Gan Bian Si Ji Dou, A very Famous Sichuan dish), and the Steamed Cod. The rice bowl was upside down on a small plate and came out almost immediately. Interesting presentation and it is supposed to keep it warm or something? We waited 10 minutes for the rest of the dishes to arrive. Not a long wait at all. First thing I dove into was the Sichuan Beef, as I lived in the Sichuan Province and love the Sichuan Style spicy food. I didn't see a single pepper, pepper flake or Sichuan Peppercorn in it at all.It wasn't really spicy at all. I asked my wife to give it a try, as things I find not spicy at all, she finds too spicy. She didn't taste a hint of spicy at all. I dumped the entire spicy chili oil that the waiter brought in and mixed it up and tried it again. Still nothing. My wife could still eat it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything really great. When I order Sichuan Spicy food, I expect serious heat, and the mouth numbing Sichuan Peppercorn flavors. Zero. The Green Beans with Pork were pretty meh, as were the Velveted Shrimp and the Steamed Cod. There really wasn't much taste to any of it. If you look at the pictures, you will notice that the sauces were not reduced and did not cling to the food. Maybe that was part of the problem. I jokingly told my wife it was probably better than a Cheap Chinese buffet and not as good as an average authentic Chinese Restaurant. She said she would rather go to the buffet, and she never goes to the buffets... We did arrive there right when they opened and saw Wan come in a half hour later. Maybe the problem was that it wasn't him cooking the food. I do like his video's though. The cost of these four dishes and a soda was $110.00. I was craving some beef Lo mein so I decided to stop here. I was able to place a to go order rather quickly. And my food was ready in about 15 mins. I ordered the Lo mein and some crab Rangoon. While the Rangoon was very disappointing it had maybe 3 slivers of crab and some just only had cheese. I would never order them again. The lo mein was exactly what I hoped it would be. I remember when this was Christina Wan's which also did catering and the club, Out Boating, had many of her fine meals. Though Christina is still around she retired and a sold to a relative so the restaurant still bares the Wan name and still has the best in Chinese food. What so much sets Wan's apart from other area Chinese restaurants is that it is maintained impeccable clean. Others in the area are notoriously known for being dirty and a quick check of Dirty Dining proves that. Also, Wan's tends to be more authentic Chinese, whereas others are more New York Chinese; hello General Tao's Chicken. LOL! Wan's is also one of the very few places you can get a real Peking Duck without advanced ordering, which is what I had. It came with the duck totally debone with great marination flavors accompanied by a delicious Hoisin sauce and the most delicate of pancakes. 1 star Extremely disappointing order from Wins Chinese in Fort Lauderdale. The chicken wings were a complete miss. No flavor at all, just bland, under-seasoned pieces that tasted like nothing. Horrible selection of wings. Skip the combos entirely. They arrive with the sauce already poured on everything, which turns the food soggy and unappetizing. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combo and the sauce made it a soggy mess. Texture and taste both suffered. Even worse, I ordered a regular (non-combo) portion of the orange chicken specifically so it wouldn't come drowning in sauce. They still put the sauce on it. Same soggy result, same lack of flavor. When I brought it up they told me I should have asked for sauce on the side, except the website has zero options for that and no comment or special request box. There's no way to actually request it when ordering online. They also forgot the spring rolls I paid for. The fried pork dumplings were the only thing that was halfway decent. They're not hard to make, and the flavor was just okay, noticeably lacking in seasoning. This whole experience reminded me of the old Christina Wans: overrated and not worth the money. I'll try one more time in a few months, only one more time. If they mess that up, never again. read more

Wan's has been on my bucket list of restaurants to try since hearing many great reviews about the food. There is a lunch and dinner time-frame so I recommend looking up their hours prior to arriving. When arriving, you are welcomed right away by the hostess that makes sure to get you sat quickly. Take in the decor as you are walking to your seat because it is very unique and symbolizes the cuisine you are about to enjoy. The menu contains many options depending your pallet but enjoy the fresh wonton chip that are provide with some duck sauce. I ended up getting the Grandma's Combo plate to try a little of everything. I choose a vegetable spring roll, wonton soup, vegetable fried rice and honey garlic chicken. The wonton soup was so delicious that you get to wonton dumplings, which is rare. The vegetable spring roll had a great crunch to it and was not socking in grease. The vegetable fried rice was super flavorful and a generous portion. Lastly, the honey garlic chicken was not overly coated in batter, perfectly sauced and the not soaking in grease. Surprisingly, I had enough room in my stomach to try one of their desserts that they had for the month. For someone who does not like chocolate that much, the chocolate cheesecake with caramel moose was super delicious, creamy and addicting for another bite. With a very attentive, funny staff and delicious food, finding a Chinese spot can be hard but I think I found mine. read more

We had heard so much about this restaurant and how good it was that we were dying to try it. Unfortunately, we went on a Saturday at around 6:00 p.m. And the line was way too long. So we left and went elsewhere. A few days later, on a Monday afternoon, we decided to get takeout. We ordered the pan fried dumplings, an order of spare ribs, and the crispy tofu with orange sauce. The dumplings were delicious but we only got six small dumplings for $10. While the sauce on the tofu was zesty, it did not soak through. And so once you got through the first layer, you were eating flavorless tofu. The ribs also had a nice sauce, but they were a bit chewy. We were disappointed with this meal. But because of all we'd read and heard about this restaurant, we decided we would give it another try. So about 3 weeks later, again on a Monday at lunch time, we got takeout. This time we got the hot and sour soup, the Hunan beef, and the Singapore noodles. Hot and sour soup is one of my favorites, and I haven't found many here that I like. This is the best one I've had in South Florida. The Hunan beef was very good. (I would have loved a little bit more mushrooms in it. I had to hunt for them.) But the beef was tender and flavorful, and the dish had lots of broccoli, my favorite. The Singapore noodles also were very good with three different types of meat and veggies, and of course it was curried. Thank goodness we decided to give this place a second chance. Now, we are looking forward to trying a few other dishes on the menu. Each meal (with an appetizer and two entrees) was about $50. read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Wan's. It was my first time here. I ordered the seasonal Chinese greens, the salt and pepper shrimp, and a snow pea mocktail. They were all delicious. The bok choy was garlicky and cooked to perfection. The salt and pepper shrimp was crispy and juicy. Although, I do with the plate came with more shrimp than it did. I will be back for sure. Haven't been here in a long long time - maybe over 10 years? It's now Wans, but same family. My kids wanted to meet us there and we jumped in the car and met on a Sunday night. They sat at a table already when we arrived but there was a line forming so we made it in time. They had the crispy noodles that we love on the table and we were all munching on those. We ordered a few different soups and all came out quick and very good. I had mixed and the others had wonton and sour soup. We also had the crab rangoons, walnut shrimp, special fried rice, honey garlic chicken and a Mongolian beef dish. There were four of us and very satisfied with portions and service. Wan's is a Fort Lauderdale treasure, and has been for generations. I think everyone worried when Christina Wan retired last year, but her nephew reportedly took over without missing a beat. Wan's is a simple place that does everything right. The food is superb. Basic chicken dishes are elevated with tender breast meat. All ingredients seem to be elevated. Delivery is blazing fast, but eating there is also a very pleasant experience. Service is fast and attentive. I drive past PF Chang's to eat here every couple of weeks. Highly recommended. South Florida is a Chinese food wasteland. We've tried almost every Chinese restaurant within 40 minutes of our home. This is the one we go back to. Service is fine, food is very good, potions generous and the staff courteous. I can recommend Wan's without hesitation. read more

Had dinner at WAN's the other night and it was good! We started with spring rolls and a wonton soup. I have to say the wonton soup did not have much flavor at all. The dumplings in the wonton were okay though. Spring rolls were good and we continued to order the pepper steak and veggie lo mein. Pepper steak fed me, my husband, and 2 kids. Big portion but we wished it was cooked a little more because it was on the chewier side. Veggie lo mein was so good and what I appreciate is our server letting us know if we made it into a combination dinner she could include the wonton soup since it's part of the combination dinner entrees. Saves you a few bucks but that goes a long way when a server is considerate. I definitely think we will be back soon because I want to try other items on the menu. read more

Met a friend for lunch here. We'd both been excited to learn that WAN's had reopened and stayed "in the family". This was an opportunity to catch up and to try the new incarnation of the restaurant. We both got their combination lunches as they seemed the better deal. They included soup and a spring roll and in some cases a choice of rice. She got the egg drop soup and cashew chicken. She upgraded to an egg roll. I got their won ton soup and Singapore rice noodles. I also got the egg roll. The soup was just okay. There were 2 won tons in the soup and some scallions. It would have been nice to have a few slivers of pork as well. I liked my traditional egg roll (she did not). The Singapore rice noodles were heavy with curry and good. I took some of my entree home. It was actually better the second time around reheated and served piping hot. I don't care for spring rolls which come with the combos here, but I'm not sure I'd pay a $1.50 extra for this upgrade in the future. In fact, I think I'd skip the combos altogether. This is not the place to come for an inexpensive meal. Get the spare ribs and some of the more exotic (non Americanized) fare on their regular menu and you'll be happier. This was my first time at WAN's. For years, friends have told me that WAN's has great Chinese food. Now I can agree. Since my doctor told me I needed to eat more vegetables and drop 20 pounds, I focused on the vegetable options here. I was really pleased with all the offerings on the menu! A vegetarian section had 9 entrees and other plant options were present on every page. I found a tofu dish listed under "Grandma's Combo" which included stir fried tofu in a spicy Hunan sauce with broccoli, bell peppers, snow peas and mushrooms. It was very good. The Grand Ma Combos come with hot tea, spring roll, choice of three soups, and choice of rice including vegetable fried rice. All for about $17. It was delicious and very wallet friendly. My neighbor ordered fried tofu with the Chow Mein dish also listed in the Grandma's Combo section. He loved it! (His doctor told him he is obese, so I encouraged him to follow my lead.) The waiter, Eric, was very nice and attentive. The restaurant is clean and spacious. I did need to send a glass back because it was dirty. The Grandma's Combos are available from 11:30 to 6pm only. My family have been ordering from Christina Wan's for years and always was good. So looks like CW closed and now has reopened as just "Wan's". Wan's is the new iteration of Christina Wan's, reopened by the owner of Temple Street and Christina Wan's nephew. I'd been meaning to check it out, but yesterday's visit was more by accident--caught in the rain and needing a place to duck into. I ended up ordering the spare ribs, which isn't something I'd normally go for, but the folks at the bar were raving about them. And honestly? They lived up to the hype--tender, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The roast pork lo mein and the fried rice that came with it? Disappointing. Both lacked flavor and weren't worth eating, which felt like a waste of money. The hot and sour soup was solid, though. If not for the ribs, this would've been a two-star experience, but they bumped it up to a three. Hoping they refine the basics because there's potential here. read more

We've been back to Wan's several times since my earlier review from a year ago and the food has vastly improved to the point that they are without question the only good Chinese restaurant in South Florida. And actually not just good - but very good! Food on our many visits has been consistently very good to excellent with some of the old servers from years back. I ate here before when it was Christina Wan's. I was very disappointed. Since then she has retired, closed and her family reopened it. Wow the service was outstanding and the food was incredible. We started with a few appetizers and some soups. I had hot and sour soup it was very good. My wife and mother had wonton soup and they were really impressed by how good it was. Then we shared ribs, crab Rangoon and a couple of eggrolls. The ribs were really good and so were the eggrolls, now the Crab Rangoon, that was unbelievably good. It was full of crab. It was by far the best Crab Rangoon I have ever had. For dinner we shared, a house special fried rice, shrimp and lobster sauce and a cashew chicken. All three dishes were really good. I know it's a bit of a shelp to get there from where I live, but it's worth it. read more

You know the food is going to be good at a Chinese spot if the wonton strips for the table are homemade! I practically drank the plum sauce, the best I have had since the old days of Peking Duck in Pompano. To start we shared an order of egg rolls and I tried a cup egg drop soup. I would have liked to add some white pepper but no shakers on the table. It was missing scallions per the menu but the consistency was exactly what I was hoping for! For entrees we ordered the orange chicken and honey garlic chicken. I thought it was interesting there was a reasonable charge of $2 to add broccoli. Personally I don't really eat the vegetables in Chinese dishes like these, they are almost like a garnish to me so I thought this was a smart move for the restaurant to not automatically add and absorb the cost. This restaurant emeged as a Pheonix to make an old icon even better. Service was way beyond average here and the food quality was certainly elevated. For vegetarians it is a haven. I loved the eggplant, the cucumber dish (Singapore or Shanghai, wasn't sure which of the two it was named), and the green beans. My dining buddy had the chow fun and said it was very good. The place gets packed, at least on weekends so try to make a reservation if allowed. Very classy inside with a nice bar area. So I have a friend that always takes me to Fort Lauderdale to the best food places. We went to Wan's and it was amazing. This is an old school Chinese restaurant with much more on the menu. Great drinks they have a good selection of mixed drinks and wines and they have very good cocktails. The decor was awesome and the place was vibrant. The food was amazing. We had the dumplings fried and steamed pork.on point yummm. We ordered three dishes, the chicken fried rice, which is amazing. Everything is cooked in house and I mean it had that great fried rice flavor. I love it. We also order the honey garlic chicken, and the orange chicken . Wow what a treat the honey garlic chicken was amazing. It had that flavor when you were kidding you went into a Chinese restaurant with that garlic wow it was perfect and crunchy with good portions of chicken breast inside one of the best I've had. The orange chicken was the hit. It also was crunchy with the sauce that was amazing. I added that sauce to the rice immediately. I also ordered the pepper steak, which was delicious and also had a great steak sauce perfect for white rice. The entire meal was amazing and delicious. Check out the menu. WAN's is absolutely incredible. I sat at the bar with my friend and we were greeted by the bartender Jesse. The service was fantastic, the ambiance was unique and welcoming. The bartender knew what he was doing with that gin drink, it was perfection. As for the food, 1000/10. This food is so authentic, my first bite had bold flavor and fresh! The honey garlic chicken had a nice outer crunch to it and the pieces were full of meat. I loved the vegetable fried rice, it was very delicious! The portions here are huge, I opt in for the large portion of rice so I could have leftovers. This place deserves to be on diners, drive ins, and dives. I've been looking for a good Chinese place in the area, and someone recommended Wan's to me back when it was Christina Wan's. I was sad when it closed before we got to try it, but so excited when it reopened! Apparently this place is about 60 years old, and very loved. I incorrectly assumed this was a normal Chinese takeout place, and was very wrong. It has a nicer, sit-down feel to it, with water service as soon as you sit, staff who greeted us immediately, and nice tablecloths. We came on a Saturday around 6:15 and it was already packed! We started with the egg rolls, which were huge! I got the honey garlic chicken and my husband got the sesame chicken. They came out very quickly despite how busy they were. The presentation was beautiful and portion sizes of the chicken were great. My only complaint is that the white rice portion that came on the side and served family style was pretty small. The honey garlic chicken was perfectly crispy, great quality, and the flavor was very good. It's a little more expensive than normal for Chinese food, but you're definitely getting a nicer experience and great food. Wan's could easily become a go-to for us. read more
