We had initially come in around 5ish and there was a long wait and a full house. We ended up leaving to get some shopping done and after a few failed attempts at finding a dinner spot, we decided to come back around 8. I had called to see if there was a wait and surprisingly there wasn't! I'm really glad we decided to come back because the food was mind blowing! I think it's even safe to say that this was by far the best sushi I've had. The tuna tataki was so refreshing, delicate, and melt in your mouth GOOD. The kiss of fire roll was mouthwatering good and that seared flavor made it even better! The SP scallop roll had this delicious sauce that complimented everything so well. They separate their rolls by cooked, raw, and vegetable. You have PLENTY of options here and you'll be happy about it. They even have a call button on every table making service quicker than usual. My only complaint would be the service. We had to ask for waters and the older employees ( we weren't given just one server ) made it seem like it was such an inconvenience to be our servers. The younger man did a good job though. Will I be back? Yesss! The food is sooo worth it. read more

Stopped in for dinner tonight and it only took a minute to get us a table for 2, but there are plenty of people waiting for tables after us. Busy is a good thing right? None of the staff were very friendly :( We ordered a crunchy spicy tuna roll, a g-dragon roll and a vegisu. I thought the presentation was standard on the two sushi rolls, but the vegisu was exceptionally pretty. The flavor however was bland, even for a veggie roll and even after I added some soy sauce and wasabi. The other two rolls tested fine, I guess. I used the restroom before leaving and it was pretty gross; garbage overflowing and dirty floors. It was worth a try, but we won't be back. read more

Service was excellent . I ordered a Bento box. My two choices were Chicken Katsu and Himachi Sashimi, both were excellent. My wife ordered started w/ a KJ Chard, that was a generous pour. She had the Spicy Tuna sushi and a Caterpillar Roll. The Caterpillar Roll was fantastic both in flavours and quantity, a definite reorder next trip. While the taste of the Spicy Tuna Roll was good, she didn't like the consistency, was slightly mushy. We will definitely be going again, in particular to try the luncheon menu. read more

We ended up here on a whim for lunch and we were not disappointed! We got the bento box and a few rolls - everything was fresh and delicious. One of the things I LOVED - they have a tiny little bell on the side of each table. Instead of waving someone down when you need something, just press the bell and they show up in seconds. read more

We've gone to Wasabi for years, but after reading some yelp reviews we had to try the Large Wasabi Sashimi Special. I'm so glad we did. Everything was delicious and it was plenty for the four of us. It included my favorites, sashimi, salad with a creamy salad dressing, vegetable tempura and the fried fish. The exotic roll with real crab meat and unagi was tasty. Our server was friendly, welcoming and anticipated our needs. I can't wait to go back and to bring family and friends. read more

I don't know how I haven't written a review for this amazing Japanese restaurant yet, but here it is! I first came here when I moved up from SoCal to Livermore last year. My friend took me here as a welcome to the bay area and that was a good Japanese restaurant in Livermore. I ordered a chirashi bowl my first time and after that, I had to keep coming back. I've came here during weekday lunch and weekend dinners and either time, it's always busy! I absolutely love their sushi rolls and their bento boxes. The salmon is always so fresh and I like how it's not as salty as other Japanese restaurants. There are two separate dining areas with a bathroom located in the back. Even with the many tables, there's usually a line to wait. Unfortunately, one dinner, my friends and I had to wait close to an hour for our food to come out because it was a weekend dinner. The food still was delicious, but we were a little irritated by how long the food came out. Other than making sure not to come here during their busy hours, I love how I can get fresh sushi in town! read more

I came again with some hungry people and we left happy in our tummy! We have 6ppl this time and tons of beer/sake later we can hardly finish our food. So many varieties of sashimi and they are amazing! Server come and tell us there were not more fish bone and I literally was going to cry. Then she go back and check there is one more! Hooray! I don't remember any particular fish pieces which is bad, you need to hunt for your fish when your friends stir and mess up and nice plating job which the chef does. Please don't eat too much rice and tempura otherwise you will be full when sashimi arrives. Tip: 1. Arrive early if you order the combo. They will run out of fresh fish by 7pm. Definitely a spot you wouldn't assume a Japanese restaurant would be. It was well worth the 40 min wait for dinner time. The sushi was really fresh and the uni was reasonably priced. I had the nigiri mix and it was worth it. If you're ever in the area come here for some delicious nigiri. read more

This spot was my favorite spot to get my teriyaki beef. It was so tender and juicy with fresh white rice. It's very difficult to find a place with this kind of qualities because they always like to use cheapest old meat . I can definitely tell the difference. I don't mind paying more to get fresh. BUT something happened to this place, I think maybe they changed owners or cook ? It's definitely different, the meat is so tough and tasted old. It had a smell I didn't like. I hate to say it but I will never return to this place. They are super nice but I don't like to be served old food and say it's fresh. We as customers can tell! read more

This is my family's favorite place to get sushi! We drive here from San Ramon whenever we get a craving for sushi. In the past few years I'm so happy to have seen it expand from the little hole in the wall to take over more real estate and serve more customers. Less wait time too. Everything is amazing here--rolls are delicious and high quality, as well as the fresh and baked fish. I've probably had almost every roll on the menu by now...and they're all amazing! The lion king is a classic that they do so well. I always order that. Don't pass on the appetizers. Their hamachi Kama is delicious and an absolute steal for the price, but they sell out very fast. The salmon collar is an amazing second choice. I love Wasabi and I can't wait to come back and eat with my family soon! read more

My wife and I have been going to this restaurant for the past 3 years. The service has progressively gotten worse each visit. This most recent time, 12-23-21, we ended up walking out after we waited over 15 mins without anyone serving us water or taking our order while the groups that were seated after us had not only had the drinks brought out but the server prioritized their order. This has happened on our last 2 visits. We thought it was a mistake the first time but the second time was just disrespectful. There are better sushi places in Livermore/Pleasanton than wasabi bistro. The food at this restaurant is good but other sushi restaurants in Livermore/Pleasanton have both good food and great service. We will not be coming here again. read more

This is my go-to Japanese restaurant around Tri-Valley. Must have been here at least 5 times. I remember only one time, I was disappointed at the food quality. Sashimi **** Usually THE item that I judge a Japanese restaurant on. The freshness and the taste - superb. Sashimi combo came with rice. I liked it. It was not sushi rice like the nigiri, but sashimi just tasted better with some rice. Ankimo (Monk Fish) liver **** Wifey likes this stuff. I never understood why. I've tried it before, but it didn't impress me. I had a piece of it here, and I started to get why she likes it so much. Does that mean all the other places just didn't have good ones?! Aka ebi (red shrimp with fried heads) **** This was a special. I was told that these were bigger than the ama ebi, but not as sweet. The fried heads were divine. I would have ordered more if I wasn't already eating like a pig. Owners are Korean, but when the food is this good, who cares if the place isn't authentic Japanese. I wish they would offer draft beers though. That would have completed the experience, especially with chicken karaage. I will visit this place more: 4.5 stars! read more

Takeout order of appetizer tempura and lion king roll. Quite satisfying. The special touches made a difference like making a hole at the top of the tempura so it wouldn't go mushy. I was impressed how they put cardboard at the bottom of the plastic bag as that ensures the food would flop around and spill (like other places and u have gravy all over the bag bottom). What was very nice to hear was how fast my order would be ready when I called in 20 minutes (others have said 1 hr for the takeout order). I'll be back to try something else read more

I'm a fan. And I plan to frequent this spot whether it's takeout during travel or otherwise. The fish seems especially tender and everything is presented well and stays together - even for challenging to-go orders under the takeout only times. Their quoted food-ready times are accurate and the staff is friendly. The lunch sets are a pretty decent value when you consider that they come with soup and a small salad with sweet mayo like dressing. You can tell that this place is well liked. It's pretty busy! Get there early if you're in a group. I'd like to say this place is great for their rolls and the servers are really attentive. I wasn't that happy with the chef's choice nigiri, but I enjoyed the pink boy roll and spicy salmon roll. A couple things that may not be the best for is calling in orders - they don't really answer the phone. Might be because they're super busy. Other than that, the reason for the rating is that their bathroom needs work. Very dirty, toilet flusher wasn't working well and lacking soap, paper goods. read more

Came in 15 minutes before last call and they happily served and accommodated us. I was able to try the SP Scallop and Pink Boy which were both really good. I don't like unagi but our server told us they'd be able to sub the unagi for salmon without extra charge which I was grateful for! The portion sizes for everything was generous and the fish tasted really fresh. The salmon from my roll was really tender and melted in your mouth and the scallops were so fresh. Only thing I wish I had asked for was less sauce as my roll was doused in a lot of this red spicy sauce. We had also asked for no jalapeños on the SP scallop but we could easily take it off ourselves. Asides from that the food and service was great. read more

This spot was surprisingly good for being in a random shopping strip in Livermore. The restaurant itself is pretty small but we are always seated almost immediately. Our server was a doll and gave us excellent service despite handling the entire floor on her own. The food itself was fresh and the grilled squid was cooked to perfection. Wasabi Bistro is an absolute must try. Initially I was introduced to this place from the owner himself who runs a YouTube channel called Dannyp1818. I was interested to try this place out after watching one of his vlogs where he ran doordash orders from his own restaurant and personally delivering it to his customers, and by seeing their positive reaction. I called this place at around 3pm to order two Chirashi bowls to-go. Whenever I try out a sushi spot for the first time, I always get the Chirashi first in order to taste the variety of the fish that they offer as well as checking the quantity and quality of the fish & the ingredients. The lady whom picked up the phone really got my attention, the way in which she responded to my requests by saying 'absolutely' gave me a sure assurance of the validity of my order, very professional and hospitable to say the least. The Chirashi bowl came out to around $22 - 23 bucks for around 15 pieces of fresh fish along with salad and miso soup. I don't know about you but to me that is a pretty darn good deal. Upon arrival, the front desk lady greeted me with a warm smile, and made sure I had all of the utensils & napkins that I needed. I couldn't even look straight into her eyes half of the time we were talking, cause she was just absolutely beautiful xD. There were two chefs working at the sushi bar and the place was semi busy but not too packed just yet as it was before dinner time. I had a conversation with one of the chefs, and although he seemed quite focused on his task, he did not hesitate to have a conversation with a smile on his face. I really appreciated this first time experience at Wasabi Bistro because of their hospitality overall, the front desk lady and the chefs were very kind hearted and approachable, the degree of their customer service was absolutely fantastic. A BIG thank you to Yelpers in finding this awesome sushi restaurant! Based on the reviews and photos, I decided to come here to celebrate a friend's birthday. Since we came on a weekday, the place was not packed, as I would expect on a weekend. We ended up sitting at a table near the window and the server was very attentive. We ordered a spicy tuna roll and the wasabi sashimi platter, small for two, which was very impressive. It comes with salad, miso soup, rice, vegetable tempura and quite an assortment of sashimi. I couldn't believe my eyes, because it looks like a large. It was plenty of food for both of us to share. We ended up not being able to finish the whole thing...we were full and satisfied! Since it was my friend's birthday, I was able to sneak away and ask the server to put some candles on a green tea ice cream for dessert. The whole evening was very enjoyable and the food was delicious! The fish was fresh and service was great. Since it was not busy, we took our time and did not feel rushed if it was more crowded. My family and I have enjoyed this little sushi bistro the few times we've come. It's not our usual sushi spot because it's not that close to home. But we decided to order takeout while SIP is going on. The guy taking my phone order was friendly and made sure our order was all correct. Arrived to pick up my order and just was waiting for one more item to my order. One main reason to go...Wasabi Special Sashimi Salad! Yummo! The salad is fresh flavorful and delicious with different crunch textures. It's a good salad to enjoy solo or share with some sushi rolls. Which is what we did to enjoy some sushi variety. The Sushi rolls that we got were all delicious. The Ton Katsu dinner was crispy and juicy. We might need to try a get over to the Bistro more often read more

Wasabi bistro is my go to place for Japanese. It has a good balance between quality and price point. I have been to far more expensive Japanese food and can tell the difference. At the end of the day, there are better Japanese food elsewhere but this place has the best balance between my taste buds and my wallet. read more

Can someone please give the main hostess a raise ?!! She is absolutely hard working and nice to customers. I've been coming here for take out over the past year and of course each time I come, it's super busy. I always see her running around seating people, bagging take out foods, answering the phone, and the list goes in. I know the wait is usually long and sometimes over an hour; people can get inpatient and rude towards her. However she is still super apologetic and friendly and works with a smile on her face. Disappointed!! I have been at Wasabi a few times. Decided to go here for our early Valentine dinner tonight. What a disappointment!! We waited for about 25 min. for a table (we didn't mind the wait). We ordered a small Sashimi platter. Our salad, soup, and veggie tempuras came quite quickly. The salad was fresh but a bit too much dressing. The soup was just right and the veggie tempuras were excellent! So why are we disappointed? We waited for another 15 minutes for our sashimi platter. The presentation was very nice BUT the fish was NOT fresh and the sashimi cut was HALF of the size of a normal sashimi slide. They were almost in a triangle shape and the visible pieces on the outside of the plate were thinly slid in a rectangular shape. We are disappointed and feel cheated. Any true Japanese sushi chef would never cut sashimi that way and serve them to his customers. The sushi chef at Wasabi Bistro should be ashamed of himself. What he served us tonight was a C- quality of sashimi. My husband and I traveled to Japan and have been eating Sashimi for over 20 years. We know what to expect and can distinguish between good quality and fresh sashimi from poorly cut and not well-refrigerated sashimi. We couldn't finish the sashimi and left half of it. I showed the triangle sashimi to our waitress and she said it looks normal to her and that she would tell the chef. Paid our bill and left. We will not return here ever again. read more

Friday evening in search of a new go-to sushi spot after a few places closed down around here. Really wanted to like this place. And maybe it is ok for rolls that can camouflage flavor under heavy sauce. But I am sorry to say.... this has got to be one of the worst sashimi and dining experience. And we eat out... A LOT! Lol Ordered Wasabi Special Sashimi for 1-2 people, nigiri combo B and Bento Box promptly after seating down at sushi bar. Evening started with tasty salad and generous sized miso soup that actually tasted pretty good. It was promising! Then we kept waiting and waiting. At 30 minutes, we got the vegetable tempura that comes with Special Sashimi. Hmm. OK, hungry so straight to nom nom. Almost done eating and now wondering what's taking so long!? Started asking where food is. Nigiri combo was already made and sitting in the back, waiting to be brought out... and we have been sitting right in front- at the sushi bar - for about 35 minutes waiting for food?! Brought it out for us. By this time, tired of waiting for food: Cancelled Bento Box. And dig in straight to nigiri combo - nom nom (no photo... too hungry, sorry!). At this point, I'm seriously reconsidering ordering additional - my usual favorites such as uni, otoro as seen on the board. I could be here all night... Wasabi Special Sashimi came out. Great visual! First bite and mmm.... didn't think it was possible to mess up sashimi. I mean, it's just raw fish - no cooking required, right? I stand corrected. Except for salmon that had clear flavor, everything else was luke-warm temperature pieces of fish that tasted like nothing or worse. Has THIS also been sitting out for 1/2 hour at room temperature? Not sure. Definitely not ordering additional. Top it off, only after past 1+ hour of dining, FINALLY waitress approaches.... to ask if we needed anything else. Duh! When you see tea cups/ glasses COMPLETELY empty and people are still dining, what do you think they'll need? Clearly lack of concern for customer's dining experience. Couldn't stand luke-warm sashimi. So asked to fry filleted fish body for different texture. That was actually decent. Fish itself had thicker bone than some other places that you can pick up and crunch away the whole thing. But it had good amount of flesh around the head & gills... almost felt like eating a mini Kama. Asked for check and asked to make to go boxes. Fried fish was boxed. Another box left there so do it yourself. Bill finally came. And that bento box that was cancelled because it was taking more than 1/2 hour? STILL on the bill. Seriously? Clearly, this place is not to be my go-to sushi spot. Search goes on. read more
