Expect to wait an hour for your food after you have been seated. We arrived close to opening at noon on a Sunday and did not leave until 2pm which is when they close for lunch. We sat at the back right side of the restaurant which is where the AC is blasting so it can get very cold when seated here. We started with the Ika Maruyaki (Teriyaki grilled squid) and for $28 this was a miss. No tentacles were served and the squid did not taste very fresh. It's really not worth the price point and I don't recommend it. The next appetizer was the toro roll and I think I need to order more sushi next time. The fish was incredibly fresh with a perfect amount of rice and high quality nori. I ordered the tempura udon - you really can't go wrong with the tempura here. It has a crisply light batter that is not too thick or oily. My husband got the tonkatsu curry and this always hits. The curry is so aromatic with the warm spices and the katsu is perfectly battered and cooked.

We didn't say anything because we wanted to be respectful to the chefs and didn't want to make a scene. Our takeout experiences haven't been much better. On one order, they forgot an entire container that was part of our meal, so we had to drive back to get it. They called to let us know they had forgotten it but also told us we needed to arrive within 10 minutes because they were closing. They also regularly forget the spicy mayo on takeout orders, even though they charge extra for it, while it's provided at no extra cost when dining in. My husband and I used to come here regularly because we genuinely loved the food, but after multiple disappointing experiences with the service, we decided it wasn't worth coming back. The food is good, but good food isn't enough when you're consistently treated poorly. I'd rather chew a jean jacket than pay to be disrespected.

Server gave us the bill, upon review, we noticed a "1/2 Caesar Salad" and a corresponding $13 charge, not $5... Certainly NOT what we ordered . We explained to the Server the error and she apologized, said the bill will be corrected. Upon the Server's return, she said she was sorry and informed us we ordered the Caesar, not the regular $5 salad. Really? Instead of correcting their mistake, we now found ourselves having to explain to the Server, twice what actually happened while she took our order, I pointed out to their menu and I said "we wanted to add the $5.00 salad". That was it! We never asked for the Caesar, and specially a "half-order". The Server emphatically refused to correct the mistake. Obviously her decision would have never be my choice, had I been the Server, or the owner of the restaurant. We hate giving bad reviews, but being unnecessarily placed in this awkward position we did not appreciate it.

After reviewing quite a bit about this restaurant and looked at all those high stars comments (without thinking too much about the BAD ones), I thought this restaurant would be a good place so I decided to give it a try for my mom's birthday. We went with high expectation but left with a huge letdown. And you can see the low score I gave above. And I finally understood why some people gave very low ratings to this restaurant and totally agree with them now. And I want to share my experience and my honest feedback with you. Overall feedback/comments for this place - Waiter/Server Service: Okay (2 out of 5) A cute girl but she handled things very fast and give you a pushy feeling. When you are done eating one thing, she will come get your bowl/plate almost immediately. Slow down please, as there are no awaiting customers, we want to take things slower to enjoy the night. So this is a negative we felt. Order/waiting time: Bad (2 out of 5) Like some other people mentioned from the ratings, you have to wait until the table is full in order for a chef to show up, even you might have ordered 30 mins ago. And yes, we waited long time before they give us the food. They might give you a salad and a bowl of soup before the main course. (Only if you ordered the entrees, i guess if you ordered something else from the sushi bar, you might get it faster...) But hey, I didn't know or thought I would have to wait that long. The whole meal took about 50mins, included waiting ~30 mins. And you should now understand why we felt pushed from this experience. Chef's skills or Entertainment: Not good (2 out of 5) Our chef was Frank Nguyen. He was okay and tried to perform some tricks but failed in front of us. Maybe he was tired, so I don't really blame him. Other than that, he didn't really do much to "entertain" us, which defeat the purpose of teppenyaki. This isn't my first time eating hibachi. I have been to Benihana in America, and a real Japanese teppenyaki restaurant in Japan. And man, this place is like a joke compared to the real thing. It could only impress those whom have never been to a real teppenyaki. And I later found out the restaurant is not ran by authentic Japanese. No fancy knife works, no impressing cooking skills, etc. All I saw was a man simply pan-frying / stirring a pile of fried rice/vegetable/meat, period. Food Quality vs Price: (1.5 out of 5) Food are cheap quality but price is hefty. This is the most important part of the review!!! We have a party of three and ordered three sumo entrees (the one with 3 items combo) plus soup & salad, cost around $27 and plus extra $2 for the so called "garlic fried rice". So this is around $30 for each person. And you know what, this stuff is way way way overpriced for its quality. Please don't get me wrong. I don't mind paying expensive food, if they are really good and meet the price they are selling at. For instance, I have eaten Japanese "Kobe" steak for ~$100 myself, and the taste was so good and it was totally worth it. But for the food that we got from this place, the stuff was "very average", and not worth the price it is sold, not in term of quality nor the serving size. Vegetables, fried rice, and then the entrees (totally we ordered, steak, scallop, calamari, chicken, and shrimp). All these ingredients only worth around $15 to $20 total for 3 ppl. And trust me, I know this because I used to work in WinCo and I know the price. They are very cheap, and don't taste any different from what you can get from WinCo. So for a plate of average ingredient/food (cost maybe ~$6 per plate), you get charged for $30 bucks. IF it tasted superb, I don't mind the price, but it only tasted barely average. And while we were eating the food, we joked about the food tasted just like the stuff from Panda Express. I bet you can get something equivalent for $7.99 from Panda. One of my biggest letdowns is the steak. I really had high hope for some nice steak, and it turned out I was only getting some cheap beef (dude, it wasn't even a steak that we received), and that meat get cut into pieces so customers can't no longer identify its origin. I was hoping for something nice and well you don't get it. Other meat/seafood are average stuff, so I am not gonna say anything impressive about them. And the overall feeling about the food is some cheap Chinese food get cooked in front of you, period. Yes, Chinese food pan-stirred vegetables with meat that you can typically get for cheaper. And this place is selling it for $30 bucks. In summary, this place is a $ ripping place that sells average food that tried to look authentic but not, and with unjustified price. I should have gone to Fuji Sushi Buffet, Oz Korean BBQ Buffet, or Texas Roadhouse instead for better food & price. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. Being of petite stature, I eat very little and the dishes literally make me bloat. I would recommend coming here for a nice date or just to try...go at night! I would also recommend NOT coming on fridays and saturdays because it would be a long wait due to the high demands of this place. So far, I've had a decent time with the waiters and waitresses and chefs. The chefs are very silly especially the chef "Barnett". The food is pricey, yes but its worth the show and the portions. Of all the waiters and waitresses, I sincerely enjoy being served by "Jackson". He's always, ALWAYS there to check up on you, never let your drinks unfilled. He's also really quick with the orders and knows how to recommend good food. Speaking of food, the sushi rolls are nice, but there's a really special roll called the G-Spot and oh that is addictive! We had an amazing experience at Wasabi Restaurant celebrating my granddaughter's 16th birthday! Our party of eight was welcomed with outstanding customer service from start to finish. The open flame grill added such an exciting and interactive touch to the evening--it really made the celebration feel special. The chef was engaging and entertaining, and the food was absolutely superb. Everything was cooked to perfection and full of flavor. The customer service at this establishment is subpar. A party of two and our group of four had reservations at 6:00 PM. However, a party of ten that was further down the reservation list was seated before us. After waiting for 40 minutes, we inquired about the reason for their earlier seating. Horrible service! Once found a human nail in our food, and today I'm my kids 10th birthday out waiter was rude and hostile, acting childish when I told him he brought the wrong order. He actually told us we couldn't take back a wrong appetizer because we ate 1 of the shrimps! They're nice until they make a mistake and you ask for corrections, they won't stand behind their mistakes, they don't care about anything besides the bill. Our server seemed completely checked out from the moment we were seated. She wasn't friendly, rarely checked on us, and after we told her we were keeping a menu to order more food, we still waited over 20 minutes before we could place another order. The restaurant wasn't even busy--it was fairly empty--so there was no reason for such inattentive service. She cleared all of our finished plates and even took both of our chopsticks before our second order arrived. I had to ask for new chopsticks when my sashimi was served. Throughout the meal, she only came over if we flagged her down, and my husband had to wave across the restaurant just to get the check. Because the service was inattentive and dismissive, we chose not to leave a tip. Tips are earned through good service--they are not mandatory. We paid our bill in full and left. What happened next was completely unacceptable. As we were walking to our car, another server chased us through the parking lot while I was holding my baby and demanded to know why we hadn't left a tip, claiming the restaurant would have to pay out of pocket. No customer should ever be confronted or pressured for a tip after leaving a restaurant. The food was good, but no meal is worth being chased into a parking lot over a gratuity. A few critiques: 1) the Señor Crab and Mrs Crab are similar on the flavor profile but the Señor Crab was missing the slices of lemon on top which probably would've made it stand out a little more 2) I really wish the rolls came with wasabi and ginger :( 3) I don't particularly care for the fact that everything was topped with sesame seeds, I think that if maybe just a few things were topped with them it would diversify the menu. Anyway, overall a great new place to try. We will order here again!
