    Pulled Pork Sandwich
    Michael P.

Newly renovated, change of ownership, been around for 50 years... I went in with a little hope. That hope was crushed to dust that resembled the brisket you see on my review. An 8oz portion of brisket is $18, and that's what I was served. The guy working the smoker put bark from the wood splits that he was burning on my platter by mistake - oh never mind, that WAS beef.. The expressionless gentleman working asked us how everything was to which I answered "the brisket was terrible. Dry, hard, it was cut with the grain..", everything was wrong. He comped it, so I didn't pay for it, thank God. That aside, the pulled pork sandwich was also aggressively dry, but edible with some sauce. But, pork and a bun and... That's it? No coleslaw? No pickles? If you're giving pork and a bun it better be some dang good pork.. I don't have much else to say. The dining room was actually awesome but the goodness stopped at that. My brother in law got ribs.. They were undercooked and overcooked. They weren't cooked long enough for the meat to bite cleanly off the bone and before they serve them, they sliced the ribs individually and sauced them.. Then maybe broiled, or set back on the smoker. An absolute mistake because now they're dried out on the sides. This place is terrible, should close down and for the love of all that is good, pour gasoline on your smoker and set it ablaze and never look back. No one here deserves to operate one.

I stopped by this place to get some food to bring home. The total came to $60 which wasn't that bad for 3 people. It took about an hour or so! Crazy! I also ordered 3 extra onion rolls to go with the meal because it was needed. The 3 rolls cost me an extra $26.00 WTF REALLY??!! It looked like someone jumped on them!! Anyways- I sent an email to the business and stated I wasn't happy for 3 flattened rolls @ $26 bucks. He/she whoever wrote back agreed w/ me that the cost was definitely wrong. They asked for the 2nd receipt which I could not find! I only had the 1st receipt for some reason. I asked if they could see it off their computer because it was literally 5mins after the 1st order. I got ZERO replied back! A good business owner/manager would try to make this matter right! Send a gift card or something. Even if it was for 10 bucks! We will never go back!!! Horrible service!!!!

    Beautiful space

Plenty of parking. Beautiful space, friendly service. I had a BbQ pulled pork taco and a BBQ chicken tacos. Great tender, juicy and great flavor! A fun spin on a street tacos!! I highly recommend!

Stop #3 on RI FOOD FIGHTS 12th Annual Big Burger Blowout #bestburgersri...Wes' Rib House is offering 2 cheeseburger sliders, great smoky flavor...got a side of Fried Plantains too! Wes' has been a landmark for over 45 years, great ribs and menu!

    A $14 fish sandwich

Been here twice. Both times, were disappointing. First time, shame on a buddy of mine for speaking highly of this place. (This was around 2009). Second time, shame on me for giving them a second chance. (This time was 3/2025). I am usually a one and done once I have a bad experience. The food was super mediocre the first time and it seemed to be the same this second time around. I will give them credit on being consistent. I want to share with you, the reader, so you don't make the same mistake I did. I spent $14 on what I thought would be a nice piece of catfish but ended up being some school lunch fish stick. I understand that inflation has affected us all. I get that. But man, I feel like I paid $14 for a Calise Bulkie roll, coleslaw with a side of 1 fish stick. I could have gone to price rite and picked up all of these ingredients for less and have it taste better. So disappointing. I wish Wes Rib House nothing but the best. Safe to say I learned my lesson.

The food was fabulous. The service was amazing and I love the ambience of the fireplace TV. The only ingredient you need to bring is good people.

Had a great experience tonight here. We were a party of 14 and the service was on point. We pretty much ordered everything on the menu and it was all delicious. Definitely need to come a check it out Bonus is that they have a little arcade with pinball machines!!!

    Buffalo Sauce Chicken Wings

Came here for 2025 #rifoodfights #lordofthewing tour. Had buffalo wings. Tasted fine, would have liked a little more sauce. Brisket sandwich was tasty, along with the loaded fries. Service could have been a little better. Was not busy and just took long time.

Stop number 4 on the @rifoodfights #lordofthewings challenge: @wesribhouse. I was very excited to try this as I skipped lunch so I could have room for their ribs. They have been in Prividence for 50+ years but they were not on my radar - which I am disappointed in myself, as I love BBQ. The bartender recommends the hot honey wing BUT I decide to go with the house BBQ sauce as I assume it is made in house. I was not disappointed. The sauce was not overpowering and complemented the smokey flavor of the wing. The wings were a little crispy. I would have preferred more "crisp" but I suspect that is the trade off for that smoked flavor. A lot of meat on the bone and little fat. Another solid entry! The ribs were very good. Pork ribs (not baby back, so big. I got a quarter rack and it was enough!). Great flavor. I added a bit of their hot bbq sauce and enjoyed the experience. I also had the collard greens, cole slaw, and corn bread. I was stuffed (and left a bit I couldn't finish. Bonus: there was a flyer for @improvpig in the entrance!

"How about Rittenhouse Foo?" "Sounds good Antonio, best bartender but how about Crown Royal?" "Foo, relax, I'll make you a nice drink," said Antonio. "Hey Antonio," Foo says, "I'll have a cheeseburger, medium, no bacon, fries is okay." As Antonio put down my Manhattan I told him that I was at 22 Bowen's and ran into Chef Eric. Antonio said Eric invented the grind ratios for the Slow Rhode burgers. "Well, Foo believes you best burger in city. Not in state but in city," said Foo. Antonio said, "Who best in state?" Foo, me, the reviewer of the review leaned back in the barstool, looked around the funky ambiance space, and stroked the long scraggly beard Foo tries to grow and said, "I believe best burger is Clarke Cooke House on English muffin with the Gorgonzola." "Really?" "Yes, but one that beats that is Newport Creamery Big Beef patty melt!" "Yo homes, that's a tasty burger," said Antonio. "Righteous!" Foo yelled while giving daps and hugs to Antonio all while jamming a massive stack of grat, all tens, into his pocket and yelling, "My name Foo!" and disturbing the nice people at Slow Rhode. Luckily, there was a perfect corner of the bar had just opened & we grabbed the seats. The atmosphere was convivial, upbeat & super comfortable, despite the crowd. Service was fabulously friendly & competent - the bartender handling the packed house with ease. We decided to go with an array of small plates to try as much as possible. The menu it designed perfectly for grazing & the prices are super reasonable! The selections are definitely on the comfort-food side with a strong southern hint. Ingredients are often locally sourced - something I greatly admire. We began with the a small plate of Pimento Cheese Toast. Just a few bites each but a nice start. Duck Drumettes. The horseradish-y white sauce was delectable! Even my non-duck loving partner was blown away. I was happy to hear that the salad was available in a half portion - enough for a light fresh break to our heavy selections. Next came a much heavier choice - the gravy fries with duck confit. We left off the cheese, but it wasn't missed at all. These were decadent, delicious & super filling! Next time we'd get a half portion - that would have been plenty! Our final dish was the Shrimp & Grits, but we'd already filled up on the other dishes & ended up asking for this to go. Even reheated, it was a perfectly delicious accompaniment to our brunch the next day! I'd be tempted to order this to-go again for just that purpose. While we didn't imbibe, the cocktail list looked wonderful & the bar was very well stocked. We did enjoy a nice selection from the interesting beer list. The sandwiches that we saw come out looked delicious & huge! We'd love to try them as well. We will be back - this is certainly a new favorite for us!

But we are back! We have a coupon for the RI Food Fight- Wings competition. We enter the small store front. Seating for about 7 with a bench for waiting. This place is really supporting take-out. This one a one Pitmaster Mike show. He was very nice and informative. He informed us that the wings are naked so he sent us home with 4 different types of sauces. Not just a little to go sauce container, like a small size deli container he filled half way worth of sauce! Although I was not a fan of any of the sauces really. The wings were cooked to perfection (smoked just right my husband declared) and the coupon was for 6 wings- Mike went above and beyond! I like my wings to have a little salt or an awesome sauce- that's where these wings fell a little flat for me. They were good but not my jam. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. It was $7.99 and it was a very small serving- that small deli container. It was congealed. Maybe a liquid cheese and shredded cheese that didn't fully melt? I am not quite sure what's happening here but i did not like it. I have to say Mike was nice, it didn't take long for the order but there was a whole lot of sold out food (cole slaw, cornbread, brisket, etc...) and the kitchen seamed unorganized and maybe a little sleazy? I don't want to call it dirty but I wasn't impressed with how it looked.

When I presented my @rifoodfights coupon he took the time to explain that, for the competition, he serves up the wings naked, with the sauces on the side, so you can try them all. He also is very proud of the plain wings, and he should be. They are delicious plain. Smoked and then deep fried to 18o degrees, they have a smoky flavor and a nice crisp skin. They are contenders in this competition without the sauce. The sauces the gave out were a buffacue, tiger sauce, house bbq and a mustard based sauce. All were fantastic but the tiger sauce was my favorite. It was horseradish based - the same sauce the put on their roast beef sandwich- and was a standout. When most hot sauce is pepper based, the horseradish was such a surprise in flavor. Do your self a favor and go and see Mike. You won't be disappointed. (He gave me a sample of the roast beef and it was perfectly seasoned. I will be back to try the sandwich!)

All of our food was delicious, the employees were super friendly and helpful, and the restaurant seating area was pleasant, attractive and very clean. Both times, Chub's delivered in a big way. Pull up and you'll immediately spot their massive smokehouse on the side of the building, which is a converted trailer that means serious business. Parking is plentiful. Inside, the restaurant is warm, inviting, and spotlessly clean. The staff were genuinely helpful and professional on both visits, the kind of team that makes you feel like a regular even on your first stop. On the first visit I went with the Ghost Pepper Sauce on the wings. They were crispy, perfectly smoked, and surprisingly approachable heat-wise. Not a face-melter, just beautifully layered flavor. I paired them with the Sweet Pete's Pulled Pork Sandwich and Grandma's Baked Beans, and honestly? Both were fantastic. The pulled pork was tender and perfectly smoked, and those baked beans had that homestyle depth that's nearly impossible to fake. On visit two I ordered the Blue Pig Sandwich and a half pound of Brisket. The sandwich was great, but the real showstopper was the Brisket. It was super moist with a bold peppery rub that had clearly been earned through hours of patience and smoke. This is the kind of brisket that makes you go quiet mid-bite. Chub's Blue Pig BBQ is, without question, one of the best, if not the best, BBQ spots I've hit in all of New England. It's the real deal: proper smoke, serious technique, and food that genuinely delivers on its reputation. I'll absolutely be back, and I'm bringing reinforcements next time. Highly, enthusiastically recommended.

There was a strong Korean presence, which always feels like a good sign when you're looking for something authentic and a bit outside the norm. I was especially excited to try gopchang (grilled intestines), and it ended up being both new and oddly familiar. The texture is definitely different, but not off-putting at all. When you think about it, sausage comes from similar ingredients, so it's not as foreign as it might sound. Having had sweetbreads and offals before, some of the flavor notes felt recognizable, which made it easier to appreciate. Other items, like the thin-sliced brisket, were more familiar and just as enjoyable. Everything we had was fresh and well-prepared. The space itself is clean, bright, and welcoming, with K-pop videos playing and a solid selection of Korean drinks like soju and Milkis to round things out. The side dishes were creative and accessible, including corn cheese, steamed eggs, house salad, and japchae noodles. The egg fried rice was excellent as well, and a great complement to the meats. Our group ranged from adventurous to more cautious eaters, and everyone genuinely enjoyed the experience. Cooking at the table took a minute to get used to, but it was part of the fun and easy to pick up. Service was friendly and helpful throughout. The ventilation was very good and not overly smoky, which can sometimes be an issue at Korean BBQ spots. It is a bit on the pricier side, but for a special occasion or a night out to try something new, it felt justified. This works well either as a fun date night or with a small group so you can try a variety of dishes. Even dessert was a highlight, creative and well executed.
