Popped in after Kennesaw Mtn hike on New Year's Eve. The place was packed and we waited a bit but that's to be expected. Our server was quick and got us drinks and our order very fast upon being seated. We got the burger which was huge and pretty good! We also got the Nashville hot chicken sandwich with a salad. The Hot chicken was ok - could have been spicier and it was fried. I liked the fried coating - they definitely used buttermilk which I like. I got the spicy ranch dressing which had jalapeños in the dressing - it was just the right spicy and the salad had a ton of toppings. My one ding on the salad was about 1/3 of the lettuce was slightly frozen but that probably came from being prepped early...not a Huge deal but thought I would call that out. We had no room for dessert but they looked good! The space is one big open room So it's a little loud but definitely on par for a diner. We will definitely go back when we hike over there on a Sunday! read more

We came to West Cobb Diner last night to have dinner with friends. It was crowded. We were seated at a high top table rather than having a long wait for a table. The server was a few minutes in coming, but we were ready, when he came, to order. The friends with us ordered the same things as we did. Then began a 50 minute wait. During that time two other couples were seated beside us that received their food. One couple actually finished eating and we still had not received our food...or a visit from our server to explain the wait. We finally called another server over and was told "parties of two will receive their food before a party of four because it is faster!" Our server f I n a l l y showed up and we were told there was a problem with the order tickets. Our food, just ours, finally showed up. Our friend's order did not. When it finally came, it was incomplete, so we had to wait a few more minutes for the arrival of their order. By this time my vegetables were barely warm, and were, thankfully, replaced. We finally, almost an hour after arriving, enjoyed our dinner. Two things, other than the very obvious, really surprised and bothered me. 1. During all this debacle we did not see, much less receive a visit from a manager... or our server, for that matter, with out having to inquire from another server. 2. Our bill showed no compensation for the terrible experience. Surely a reduction in price, or the offer of a free desert, or SOMETHING would reflect their acknowledgment of such poor service. Prior to Covid, I would say they were a four. Good quality food and great service. After about five or so pickup orders that are consistently late, I think I am done for a while. I regret pretipping because the place is not what it used to be. I really would Like to understand this after seeing so many people walk out with to go orders while my order is 19 minutes late. I've been coming here for years, and I look forward to the specials and / or the standard menu (meatloaf is the best around. This time, 12/18, it wasn't so good . Apparently, I had a new waiter who needs a little more training. Had to get up and go to the bar to get a refill. When he dropped the food, we didn't see him for a while. Food, ok; chicken waffle OK, Nathan Hot Dog OK, but bun was burnt and hard. The French fries just weren't good, tasteless, and just barley warm. So the atmosphere is not as ritzy as some dinners: it's just an open space with tables and booths, so if you are looking for an upscale diner date night, this is not your place. Great menu selection of staple southern food. Our party of 4 ordered various hamburgers, and I ventured out and ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and fried okra. The steak was very thin, with heavy breading, but had a good taste. Very crispy batter (think extra crispy KFC style). All food came out hot and fresh and staff was very friendly. Sorry to have to downgrade from my previous 4 and 5 star reviews. Also - not sure why I typed 'turkey' instead of chicken breast in my last review, but Yelp won't let me edit it. Lol. Background I've been on the search for a good old fashioned southern fried pork chop. I had the pecan crusted pork chop previously and it did not go well, but the person doing the recommendation swore that they had 'regular, fried' pork chops, so I gave them a call. So glad I did. Interior / Exterior The inside of the restaurant was sorta dark, so I can't speak to the cleanliness - but the mat / rug that I was standing on was sticking to my shoes. Weird. I've never had that happen with a mat before. The exterior / parking lot is okay. I parked at curbside, but went inside. I always get a little anxious backing out from their curbside spaces because if someone's parked next to you, you're backing out blind. The other spots are extremely narrow. I'm okay in the Camry, but this car feels like a boat compared to the Camry. But I digress ... Customer Service Brittney answered the phone without identifying the restaurant name and seemed a bit taken aback when I asked if it was West Cobb Diner. I voice dialed her via Google and I've been getting some misdials with that service lately. I asked about the pork chops and she confirmed that they could fry them up in the traditional southern way. I think they were pretty slammed, because she put me on hold for a bit, so I hung up the phone and planned to just place the order in person. She was nice enough to call me back. She was hustling when I arrived, working in store and curbside, but still managed to be friendly. 5 stars for this employee. Food I still don't particularly like the waxy french fries they use here, so I opted for one of today's special sides - the spicy, fried cauliflower. They also had pinto beans as a special and the rest of their traditional sides. I crossed my fingers and went with a double order of the cauliflower. My pork chops looked glorious. Lol. I should point out, these weren't actually pork chops. They were pork cutlets. One of them was dark, it was more of loin cut, HEAVILY marbled and edged with fat. The other one was also a cutlet, but it was white meat. Both were delicious. I only took 2 bites of the second one before I got too full, so I'll finish it for my lunch break tonight. The cauliflower bites looked beautiful. They were fairly spicy, nothing insane and I think most people will enjoy these. I asked for a dipping sauce and I was given a tiny cup of Ranch dressing. I wound up not using any of the dressing, but if I had been using it there was no way this would have been enough for all of those bites. Which segue ways nicely to my next heading - Price / Affordability My food came up to a little over $20 and I tipped $5. I was a bit taken aback by the price (this doggone pandemic) but the bites were plentiful and the two cutlets were fairly large. IDK ... The pandemic HAS caused prices to soar but I thought this meal was around $15. I forgot to mention that it also came with a corn muffin, but I didn't try it. COVID practices Most of the staff appeared to be wearing masks, but the server and two staff members behind the counter were not wearing gloves. Other / Overall So - if the food was excellent and Brittney was awesome and price was fairly good, why only 2 stars? It's because while I was standing there waiting on my food, there was an employee standing over the one of the food preparation station eating from a tupperware container. I didn't get his name (AA male, wearing a wool skull cap - also yikes - slender build, short, with not inconsiderable facial hair), but the other employee (AA female) must have said something to him. He looked up at me, shot me a look, then turned his back. Wow. I couldn't believe it, so I snapped a photo of his back. After a few moments, he moved his food (and himself) out of my line of vision. But here's where it gets weirder. After this, he starts loudly talking to someone. His voice was heavily accented and there were a few French words peppered here and there - but he kept telling the person, "She's too big for me." He said it 4 - 5 times. Unsure if he was referring to me - I don't think he was ... unless he was talking to AA female employee from before. She'd disappeared. What I will say, is that I think I can safely say on behalf of all the big women in America - no tears will be shed because this dude has a personal 'no fat chicks' rule. Lmbo. Later, I was sitting in the car, figuring out my next move and getting my food set up for driving, he came out of the restaurant - then went to the car to get cigarettes. He was lighting his cigarette and walking into my path while I was backing from my space. All I can say is I hope he wasn't the person that prepared my food. This is where I go for my "comfort food". I recently had a stomach virus issue and couldn't eat and could hardly drink for 4 days. The first thing I wanted to do was to visit Loren (the owner/operator) and get me some collards, beans and Key Lime pie. I love their coffee and tea as well. The only problem I see with this place is that you'll need to plan for a doggy-bag. The portions are huge. My gf and I usually split whatever we agree on eating. I have so many favorites on this menu that I can't pick just one, but just know that you'll have more sides than you'll see anywhere. If you're vegetarian (and I'm not) you'll have MUCH to choose from. This place, for good reason, has a high volume every day, but the staff makes it look easy and Loren is a regular James T Kirk at the helm. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars. read more

This food is good. Really good, and it appears to be popular with the locals. I learned about it is on Trip Advisor and happened to be in the area doing some shopping and exploring and all of sudden noticed that it was in the area. I decided to order takeout, and they offer takeout and delivery via Grub-Hub as you can order on-line. I got the smoked gouda burger, which it took two hands to hold and eat. The bun was toasted. There were two hearty pieces of bacon it, and it was huge, hot, and delicious. The black-eyed peas were perfectly cooked, hot, and had pieces of smoked turkey, I believe, in them. That recipe was right out of somebody's Southern Grandma's kitchen. The cooked them until they made their own gravy. Whoever made those really knows good cooking and good eating. The mac and cheese was amazing--delicious, cheesy, rich, and baked, just like real mac and cheese is supposed to be--none of that stove-top stuff. Finally, I finished with their Red Velvet Cake, which was moist, delicious, and full of flavor with real cream cheese icing with pits of pecan therein. You gotta love this spot. The hostess and waitress/waiter staff were very nice, even to those who are not dining in. I will definitely return to dine in with fam and/or friends. Amazing food and in a nice, hometown, and local spot. They also have ample parking and outdoor seating. They do the diner thing right. read more

So went here for Mother's Day was told the Mac and cheese was good. Y'all it was good. The shrimp on grits were not so good. They were too runny and white not grainy at all and they didn't taste like anything. So I do not recommend the grits. The shrimp however were fried and had good seasoning on them. My hubby had salmon and he enjoyed that and his sides. The children had burgers and Mac and cheese they enjoyed that. Overall experience is was cool not your typical diner setting. The waitress was very attentive and sorry that I didn't like the grits that she gave me a slice of cake and the Mac and cheese on the house and I was grateful and thankful for that. I will return to try some of the other menu items they looked good and it was right in my community not far at all. read more

Food was good... server was very nice. Giving it a 3-star rating for that. We had the meatloaf, the salmon and a club sandwich for our party of three. All very good. Only problem: Floor is in need of a good cleaning. My shoes stuck to the floor & there was a fair amount of mulch from outside that needed to be swept. I saw a vacuum by the front door (not in a closet or in the back). Not sure if it was broken? I realize there is a shortage on staff for many restaurants, so I will try it again to see if the dining room is in better shape. Hope they can take care of that. read more

My husband had ordered the Gouda burgers which he described it as "meat, cheese and bacon goodness" diner style burger! I ordered the meatloaf which was fantastic! As sides I had sweet potatoes fries and mashed potatoes which were super tasty! The sauce the sweet potato fries were served with was the perfect accompaniment! My my my!!!!! This hidden gem is behind the Walgreens and can't be seen as much off the road but is in the shopping center right behind. Luckily I found them by yelp!! Service 5 stars greeted when i can in server Dillon friendly with suggestions and even brought a sample for me to try during the middle of lunch hour. Checked on me multiple times. Cleanliness and ambiance 5 stars... front tables bar kitchen and bathroom. I could see the kitchen from the bar. Could almost eat off the floor! Food 5 stars!!!! Took a yeppers suggestion and for side salad as a side and they were right it is a meal in itself but also ordered black pepper thyme fried chicken with Dillons suggestion of Mac and cheese. Mac and cheese creamy white cheeses not sure what but tastes very good but the chicken.. oh my it was a Breast lightly breaded no grease cooked perfectly and not dry! So hard to do....oh and the plate came with cranberry and a yummy corn muffin. Honestly this was the best food and service I have had in a loooonnnnng time. It's a bit far for me but I will be back!!! It's worth a trip and I love supporting local small businesses versus chains!!! read more

The only real plus I can give is for the service; our server was excellent. The food, however, left a lot to be desired. I'm much too "Southern" to like blue cheese in my Cole slaw, or jalapeños in my hush puppies (gag). The fried okra was good; other than that I cannot recommend this place.
