I sat at the bar and ordered a burger and fries, chicken wings, and onion rings. They had one cook, and he was pretty cool. This was definitely a "locals" bar, but the staff made me feel comfortable. The food took a while to come out, but when it did, it was fresh and hot. Everything tasted ok, but the burger and onion rings, which had been recommended by the bartender, were really good. The bar was well stocked, and the beer was cold. They had plenty of patio seating, and they host live music. The bar area and the bathrooms are in need of some TLC. Parking on Main Street can be a challenge. I went the next day to have a burger and onion rings, but they were out of onion rings. I settled for seasoned fries, which were ok.

After waiting about 40 minutes, we decided to cancel the order (which turned out hadn't been entered anyway). Service was pleasant but inconsistent. One of our friends arrived a few minutes after us and ordered coffee right away, but her cup didn't come out until well after ours, and when it did, the cup wasn't very clean. Also worth noting that gratuity is automatically added for parties of six or more, and they don't split checks. We accidentally double-tipped, but the manager was kind and quickly resolved it. On the plus side, the space is casual, dog-friendly, and has plenty of shaded outdoor seating. The food was the highlight. My Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich was flavorful with crispy fries, my husband's Hideaway Burger was cooked well, and our friend's Chicken & Waffles were tasty, though a bit heavy on the waffle and light on the chicken. Overall, the food and atmosphere were good, but the lack of transparency around pricing and a few service missteps made the experience less smooth than it could've been. Adding to the review that our order was to-go and when we got to our hotel room...NO plastic ware (even though Mac and cheese was part of the order). Who TF can eat brisket Mac and cheese without a fork or spoon. Nothing was added to the bag they gave us. We will never go back. Hope the flavor was at least worth the hassle this time.

There was no one there, which made sense--it was between brunch and lunch--but somehow the wait for food felt disproportionately long for what arrived. What arrived, sadly, was mediocrity wearing a Tex-Mex costume. They seemed to be aiming for Tex-Mex but landed somewhere closer to Tex-Flex--stretching flavors thin until they snapped. The barbacoa was fatty in a way that suggested less "slow-cooked tradition" and more "glistening regret." It didn't taste authentic, or even especially intentional. Just heavy. The guacamole--perhaps the most unforgivable offense--was bad. Guacamole is avocados, salt, lime, and love. That's it. This had none of the above. The waitstaff wasn't rude, exactly--just possessed by the clear energy of people who would prefer you to finish quickly so they could resume their real lives. Hospitality should feel like an invitation, not a countdown. Now, maybe the original Nurys is wonderful. I hope it is. But if that's the case, why open a second location only to phone it in? Expansion should mean excellence multiplied, not care divided. There are too many good places in Fredericksburg doing things right to settle for something half-hearted. Seeing a kitchen employee leave that restroom and then discovering there was no soap available was enough for us to lose confidence in eating there. Hopefully this was simply an oversight and management addresses it, because something as basic as having soap available in a restaurant restroom--particularly one being used by food-service employees--is important.
