Came here for trivia night and appetizers. Trivia was supposed to start at 6, but no one told us what was going on and they didn't start until 6:30 so it was confusing as to whether we'd actually get to play or not! The trivia was fun when we played - not too hard and not too easy. We ordered the fried pickles and the fried cauliflower and both were WAY over-salted. I like things salty and it was still too much for me! I'd probably stick to the breakfast menu next time. The service was fairly slow. There is some indoor seating and a decent outdoor space - even though it was hot out it wasn't bad since they had misters and a cooler.

It wasn't very busy when we stopped here for a late breakfast and we had our choice of seating, indoors or on the patio. We both ordered versions of the chicken fried steak breakfast. The steak asks gravy were more proper than I'd prefer, but it was tender and cooked well. Service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant isn't huge, but it's decorated cheerily.

We saw that a band we've enjoyed before, Nina Speaking, was playing at What's Crackin Café, so we decided to check it out for dinner and live music. This was our family's first time dining here, and we were pleasantly surprised! The café is smaller inside than I expected, with maybe 10 tables or less. It looked like there's normally outdoor seating as well, but with the storms that night it wasn't being used. They have garage-style doors that open to the patio, which I imagine makes the place feel much more spacious when the weather is nice. Since seating is limited, I'd recommend arriving early if you're coming for a band or event. Our waitress was super friendly and gave us great recommendations. She suggested the burgers, saying they're juicy and the Monte Cristo. My husband had expected mostly breakfast food given the name of the café, but the menu has a lot more variety. Best of all, the prices were very reasonable compared to most restaurants these days. It was refreshing to see entrees under $15-20, especially for families. They also have a happy hour menu from 12:30 to close, Monday-Friday, with both food and drinks. The Happy Hour menu had a great selection that you could have a good dinner with just those choices if you wanted to. We ordered the Monte Cristo, a 4-topping burger with fries, and a kids' cheeseburger meal for our toddler from the happy hour menu (only $8.50!). She's a picky eater but loved it and even finished the rest the next day. The Monte Cristo was exactly as described, a mix between a grilled cheese and French toast and so tasty. The burger was fantastic too. I loved that you can customize it with any four toppings; we chose a second patty, bacon, cheddar cheese, and grilled onions. The meat was juicy and flavorful, and the fries were thin shoestring style with seasoning. Personally, I'd try them plain next time if that's an option, but my husband enjoyed the seasoning. We also tried the pumpkin bread, which was delicious, super moist with the perfect pumpkin spice flavor. Another big plus: What's Crackin hosts fun events like trivia every other Thursday and live music every Friday. Between the great food, affordable menu, and entertainment, we'll definitely be back to support this local spot!

Came for brunch after golf, what a cute place. They have live music on Friday nights. Will have to swing by. Great service, food was so tasty!! Will be back!! Had the buffalo cauliflower- a must get! Little to no batter and roasted to perfection!! Breakfast and southwest po'boys were awesome and the French fries crunchy and seasoned well!

This place has been on my brunch list for a while, and it was awesome! It's not as big as some places, more on the medium size, with indoor (including bar seating) and outdoor seating(with heaters). We had a reservation for Saturday around 1130, but I don't know if you absolutely needed one. Everyone working was friendly and even let us move so we could sit at the fire-Pitt table. I ordered the Sunrise Mimosa which had tequila in it and was spectacular. For my entree I went with the Fully Loaded Burrito which was good. We also ordered the peppermint mocha pancakes for the table to share and those were incredible!!! They are a seasonal item though so I'm not sure how much longer they'll be around, but highly recommend. This place was fun!

My wife and I enjoyed brunch at What's Crackin' Cafe, a family-owned establishment founded in 2017. They have a casual and comfortable atmosphere with a really nice patio, which is also pet-friendly. The menu features breakfast classics, Benedicts, omelets, burgers, and sandwiches. Popular items include the Monte Cristo, Po' Boys, southwest flavors, and tacos. I love Eggs Benedict, and they offer several options. I couldn't decide, so I went with their Mix & Match, where you can pick two. I chose the BLT and the Country Benedict, which has a crispy chicken tender over an English muffin and a poached egg, topped with country gravy and Nashville hot sauce. My wife did the same but with The Classic and Crab Cake Benedict. Both were served with delicious tater tots, and I must say they were all really good. Shanda said the Bloody Marys are top-notch; they have early bird, seasonal, and happy hour specials daily. Everyone, from the waiter to the manager, was so friendly and welcoming--a really enjoyable experience. Please support them and all our local businesses.

You know I was surprised by our portion sizes in a good way. I expected really small portions due to the portion sizes, but we ordered the American breakfast and the biscuits and gravy dirty style and we had leftover. The food is alright nothing crazy but still good. The service was also super friendly and quick with our food. The theme is kind of beach which is cute and there indoor and outdoor seating. There's also bathrooms that are clean which is so nice! Overall a great experience :)

I really wanted to love What's Crackin Café -- the beachy vibe and fun décor had me hopeful when we walked in. The light blue walls and colorful lighting create a cute, coastal atmosphere that definitely stands out in Mesa. I ordered the Brunch Lover's Casserole, and my husband went for the Ultimate Crackin'. Unfortunately, the portion sizes left us both surprised -- and not in a good way. For the price and compared to other spots around the Valley, it just didn't feel like we were getting much bang for our buck. The food itself was decent, but nothing memorable. I couldn't help but miss the flavor and comfort of places like Eggstasy -- where the portions are hearty and the overall experience feels more satisfying. While the ambiance gets points, the food didn't quite hit the mark. If you're in the area and just want a cute place for coffee or a light bite, it might work for you. But if you're brunching hungry, you may want to keep looking.

Nice breakfast place with extended lunch menu options. The food was delicious and the outdoor patio was perfect for family with kids or people with larger parties .. lots of room cute fire-pit tables. Very warm and inviting a real hidden gem. The waiter was very attentive and friendly which made our dinning experience even more pleasant. Also great mimosa and bloody Mary specials... Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun breakfast place especially with kids.

This little hidden gem is a MUST TRY!! We were driving through and decided to stop in and are sooo happy we did! The ambiance is amazing. It's smaller and more personal. Our server was amazing and kind. He was sweet and accommodating. The food.... The menu.... The deals! Oh my gosh! We started with their happy hour bloody Mary's! $3 for a delicious drink with the finings.... Say less! They were the perfect spicy and tasty! The menu has so many delicious options! We got the mini chimis, the savory crapes were scrumptious and the crunchy tots that came with it were perfectly seasoned! We also had to try the berry stuffed French toast and it was the absolute perfect combination of sweet and savory. The filling was not overly sweet at all. The berries were delicious! Everything was 10/10! I highly recommend stopping in and giving this place a try. You won't be disappointed. We will definitely be back!

I drive by here and it's always busy, so finally went there early morning when it was only few tables. Nice small cozy restaurant with friendly staff. I wanted to try some different kind of specialty dish but decided to stick to traditional simple breakfast. All American breakfast which included 3 eggs, bone in ham, biscuits and gravy, and "bite size hash brown". Ordered pancake breakfast combo with sausage links also. Waited asked if I wanted the gravy dirty style which included shredded cheese and bacon bits. I'm like ok, that's new so I decided to go with it. Plate looked good, biscuits and gravy looked yummy. I did laugh at "bite size hash brown" aka tator tots... . Eggs were good nothing special, ham was little on the salty side. Now to the dirty biscuit and gravy. First bite, I was like hmm gravy is bit on the Luke warm side. Second bite, yeah it's practically cold. The gravy flavor itself was interesting. At one point it tasted very plain but then had decent after taste. So I alerted the server and told him the gravy was pretty much cold. He apologized and I told him maybe he can throw it in the microwave or something. As a joke. He took my plate and few minutes later.. Walla... Microwaved biscuits and gravy.. Literally micro waved it. Pancake I liked because it was nice and chewy. Guess if you like your pancake doughy and fluffy this ain't it. Sausage link was pretty tasty. Maybe I'm getting too picky at restaurants but something about having to send back food for not being prepped right, and not having management coming over to say something about the mistake is bit disappointing. Specially after seeing the bill and seeing that sprinkle of bacon bits and some pinch of cheese on top of the gravy was $2.19 upgrade.. holy inflation batman.. . Over all food was OK, not the best not the worst. Maybe if I ordered their specialty breakfast my review might have been different. Hate to rate so low from eating basic breakfast dishes.. But that microwaved return dish made me give 2 instead of 3. I definitely would not come back to this place.

I found myself far from home yesterday and looking for lunch. My only requirement was a patio and WC fit the bill. I found a loveseat covered with pillows when I arrived. Midday on a Tuesday, you seat yourself and I didn't have long to wait before Anthony brought me a menu and setup. I quickly looked over the drinks portion, (apparently they serve alcohol!) but since I was far from home, I went with iced tea. I'd had a craving for french toast for the past few days so I thought I'd give that a shot. The iced tea was fresh and light...and came in a cup they let me keep! My breakfast arrived quickly, two eggs, sausage links, and the aforementioned french toast. I can't confirm where they get their eggs, but they were the eggiest eggs I have ever eaten. Seriously, they were delicious and scrambled perfectly. (Thanks, Chef!! ) The sausage links were so good, I asked Anthony who their vendor was so I could get some for home. (They're from a food distributor. ) The french toast was delicious as well. So good in fact, I didn't even need to use syrup! All in all, I highly recommend WC to anyone looking for great food, service, and relaxed ambience. The inside is a bit on the smaller side so I would imagine it could be loud when full, but they have equal the amount of seats on their covered patio, so you have options. read more

My cousin and I have amazing memories of eating monte cristos back in Texas together before Benagin's sadly shut down so when I saw this place had them with actual pancake batter I knew we had to come here!!! It did not disappoint. It was crispy It was cheesy The raspberry and blackberry sauce that accompanied it is what really sets it off! You HAVE to dip it for every single bite. I asked for extra and used every single drop. We Thank you, What's Crackin' for keeping our Monte Cristo alive. Oh. And the What's Crackin' Breakfast was also delicious. Honestly, 1st time here. I don't think I need to go back. Server Jazmine was nice. But really tried to be too nice and asked for us to review her right away. Kinda awkward. Said "beautiful" to us every two seconds. Food.... Someone had a hair in their food. Another had "wet" scrambled eggs. My chicken wrap was mehhh. Chicken had no flavor. I was happy to see they have several vegan and vegetarian options on the menu. I had the Impossible Foods burger with vegan cheese. So good! Their fries are delicious as well. My husband ordered the build your own bowl with rice, beans, sweet potatoes, mushrooms, avocado and tomatillo sauce. He was very happy with his meal. Great patio and great service too! read more

Omg jasmine was amazing, I'm usually undecided on what to order and always ask what to order and she told me that she likes the chicken and waffle and let me tell you I ordered it but I was skeptical because I don't like chicken and waffle but the chicken and waffle at what's cracking is soooooooooooooooooooo good. Nice little place to grab breakfast. The menu changed a bit and my favorite breakfast is no longer available. They have outdoor seating which is nice. The food was good, service was slow and one of the waitresses had too short of booty shorts on which is inappropriate for a family restaurant. Been here a few times, and usually it's pretty good. This particular trip wasn't awesome. Came by with Hubby and adult son for brunch after church. Called to see how long the wait was, and if I could be added to the waitlist, which I could. When we arrived, the place was packed, but we were seated immediately. Gal who thought she was our server took drink orders immediately, and then we waited. Took a while for our actual server to come by, and another few minutes before we were ready to order. Ended up ordering: Hubby - Classic burger, add mayo and mustard, Son - Arizona Bowl, sub hatch green chiles for green bell peppers, add chicken, Me - French toast sandwich, sub fruit for tots. As we sat, the place emptied out. Server came by once to let us know that there were a couple of tickets ahead of ours, and we waited. By the time the food came, we had been there over an hour. Mine was ok, but I received fruit and tots. (checked the bill - I was not charged for both) Hubby got packets of mayo and mustard to do it himself, and the burger was served in a flimsy brown chipboard box (like what you get at In and Out when you tell them that you're going to eat in your car). He wasn't happy, as he does expect reusable flatware and stoneware at a sit-down restaurant. Same with the packets - fine for fast food, but that's not where we were. Son couldn't figure out what was pico, and what was hatch Chile so he asked the server and he was told, "the green peppers are a part of the fajita vegetable mix so there were no onions, either." Not sure why she didn't explain that when he asked for "no green peppers." And at $19.58 (Bowl is $15.29, plus $4.29 for chicken) it was smaller that the power bowls that Taco Bell serves. Really disheartening. I realize that we're all dealing with inflation right now, but ordering crazy expensive, tiny food is a real bummer. (First world problem, I know, but you are going to go out to eat...) I will say, hubby does think that their Bloody Marys are excellent. Manager didn't speak with us, but ended up giving hubby 1/2 off his burger. There are so many places to choose from in the valley. If I'm invited by a friend, I'd go back, but it won't be my first choice. read more

I don't know what happened in the kitchen when I went, but I was told my food would be 15 minutes, 15 minutes later was told another 15 minutes. Places get busy, sure I get it. But my biscuits and gravy had RAW dough and I was extremely disappointed because the flavor was great! Didn't even care to complain because would I want to wait another 40 minutes for raw dough? We found this place as we were running some errands. We automatically were told to put our names down online. We were called up shortly and after about 10 minutes we were offered a drink. I asked for coffee and Splenda. No splenda available, no milk alternatives. The coffee was almost water. Our waitress was not attentive at all. She spent plenty of time socializing with a table of flirtatious older gentleman. When we finally were able to order we got our food like 35-+ minutes later. During this time i got 1/2 a cup of refill. She ran out after my husband waved her down for another cup. The food came out and was absolutely the worst. Our eggs were dry and tater tots undercooked. The montecristo sandwich tasted like old oil and was super greasy. The stinky part is that the table next to us had a different server and he was GREAT! That of course doesn't change the bad food bad it was very noticeable. So horrible, unfriendly service and terrible food. Totally waste of time or money. Pictures don't lie, zoom in. read more

First visit, about a year ago, we had a great experience. Great vibe, mimosa flight (although warm), and a favorite dish right out the gate. After bringing friends and family a few times there were changes to the menu. Favorite dish looked completely different, taquito proportion became smaller and less flavorful, runny eggs no matter how they were ordered. This went from a place we brought visitors to a place we avoid rapidly. Last straw was our to-go order. Food was thrown about, ketchup packet in my Benedict, and the gravy had way too much vinegar to name a few things. Food looks nothing like the pictures and is sub par. Not sure if management changed or they're making cuts to the cost of food but sadly I no longer recommend. read more

I'm not sure if we just decided to try this place on a bad day. It took an extended amount of time for us to receive our food. When we did get the food it looked like it had been under a warmer for a bit. The croissant was ok however it was comparable to a breakfast sandwich you'd get from a drive through and this plate was $14!. However the Tater tots were delicious. read more

What wasn't a problem? We offered to sit outside so we didn't have to wait and misters were on... everywhere we looked was soaked in water so we found the one dry area 2/3 seats were dry. It took forever to get our waitress to even acknowledge us, much less get us water. I'd say we waited a solid 15min. Not right away which is custom when you go to places. our waitress was pleasant I gave her a full tip bc a lot of these issues weren't her fault but the reason why I'm only giving it 2 stars is they completely got my daughters made to order Omelet wrong and when we did get it, it was raw in the middle and not cooked all the way. We also had to ask for our side of bacon we ordered 3x and our napkins 3x as well and we never did get them. The food was not good enough to overlook these issues we will not be returning. read more

Service was severely lacking. Had to waive a sever down after waiting 20 mins at the table. Another 20 mins to get a mimosa. Hands down the worst meal I've ever had at a restaurant. Had to ask to take two of our meals off the bill since we couldn't even eat it. (Chilaquiles). Take it off the menu if that's what you're going to serve to your guests. What's Crackin is definitely NOT a chain restaurant. The menu has a good selection of breakfast and lunch items. Your meal can be customized for you. The "Tetris" tater tots are excellent!!! Layne was our server and she had some good recommendations from the menu. She has a great attitude and seemed to enjoy interacting with her customers. Food took a little longer than expected - but probably just because they just opened. That being said, this was my 2nd time dining in here and had it been my first- I probably wouldn't be back. OMG SORRY BUT THIS PLACE SUCKS ! We waited 35 minutes while we watched the bus boy on his phone instead of bussing the table in front of us , once bussed , they did not seat us , instead they sat what appeared to be their friends once they arrived. We've been to a different brunch restaurant every other week since last June, including The Vig, Over Easy, Nico's Heirloom Kitchen, First Watch, a couple places in downtown Mesa I don't remember, Snooze, this restaurant in Fountain Hills that made a breakfast pizza with hollandaise instead of tomato sauce...I could go on. I should really write more reviews, but the point is that I'm writing THIS one, because What's Crackng is THE PLACE for brunch and mimosas. Full disclosure: I typed this review on Trip Advisor and just copy pasted it to other places. Do I like retyping stuff? No. Do I like mimosas? Yes. Yes, I do. Let's keep going. How was the food? The food is incredible: I had the Monte Cristo and it was a goshdanged masterpiece. My favorite brunch restaurant in Portland has sort of a doughed-sandwich with marionberry marmalade and this one blows it out of the water. I came in a party of three and every one of our dishes was exceptional, from the Benedict to the French toast. Our favorite breakfast spot! From the workers to the owners they are all so friendly. I love how they try different stuff to keep people entertained like a live band or trivia night, it's so fun! They accommodate our large party for when we want to reserve the side patio for a birthday party. With tables and padded patio furniture it's a cool spot to hang out. The food is so good there is something on the menu for everyone. You have to go in and try all their specialty mimosas. I have been coming in since they have opened. Living in east mesa, the food options are scarse and you typically get the same old bar food etc..with the exception of a few restaurants. They are locally owned, make everything in house and they have a wide variety of food on the menu. They also have an amazing bar with great variety of tap beers, ones that you would expect as well as quite a few local/craft beers, and $2 mimoas and $5 bloody marys. Don't even hesitate to go, I would avoid Sunnyside like the plague. What's Crackin is the only place I eat out! read more

Rating: (1/5) I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was soggy, and unfortunately, the omelet that arrived at our table was burnt after asking for it to be cooked soft. To make matters worse, the server was unable to answer basic questions about the menu and seemed uninterested in ensuring our experience was enjoyable. They also forgot much of our order, which only added to the frustration. Overall, it was a poor dining experience, and I won't be returning. I hope they can improve both the food quality and service in the future. read more

Our family had brunch earlier this Wednesday afternoon. The place was great! The ambiance was truly friendly, casual and fun! The food was top notch! Order the bacon, breakfast sandwich, mac and cheese! Panama Sunrise drinks are a fav and out of this world. The bartender who is the operations manager was fantastic and needs to be commended for his attention to detail, his amazing attitude and his willingness to please. And we are not easy to please! I ordered a very simple and traditional breakfast... I wanted eggs (over easy), bacon, hash browns, and side of toast. Not a lot to ask for, right? Well for starters the portions were tiny, my eggs were sunny side and not over easy, and the toast was burnt with no butter. Our waitress didn't seem to be too knowledgeable about the menu, and wasn't very efficient when refilling our beverages. I went their with a group of close friends this past Saturday and we all had an amazing time. The food was delicious, the drink specials were not only cheap, but very good and our server Steve was really great as well. There is something special about what's Cracking cafe and nothing in Mesa beats it. Upbeat atmosphere, people, and environment was much needed in Mesa and it has arrived. Very good breakfast! Visiting for the first time did not disappoint me. It's a nice place to get a good breakfast to start the day. This was the spot! Very delicious eggs benedict and the chicken fried steak was perfect for my liking. Everything was so delicious! The coffee was fresh. The service was great. We didn't have to wait to be seated. Came here for breakfast after my daughter got off work. What a great place! I had the Ham & Eggs and it was delicious, eggs were perfect. Hadn't had a Bloody Mary in a while so I ordered one. OMG bomb.com really good. Had to try something else so had a Red Sangria which was delish as well. 3 stars because it is a cool little place with good food but it's so expensive. Scottsdale prices in Mesa. $9.50 for 2 sliders with no side. It was $2.50 extra to get a side. The omelettes are stupid expensive too. Got an omelette with 5 ingredients 1 meat and 4 types of veggies and it was around $18. Me and the girls have been to quite a few breakfast spots in the valley and What's Crackin Cafe is one of our top favorites now after our first visit today. Great food but even better service. It is located in a gated community on a golf course, but is open to the public. We had a reservation for 5 o'clock and were seated immediately. Our waitress Lauryn greeted us with a lovely smile and provided menus. Companion and I both had virgin margaritas, companions with cranberry and mine with strawberry. Both were excellent. While it was restaurant week, we both decided to order off the regular menu. Prices were very moderate for all items which was a surprise. I started off with a complimentary onion soup which while not authentic was a good try at the flavor and texture. It came with a cap of cheese properly melted over the top. Companion ordered the fish and chips which came with some excellent french fries and were cooked perfectly. For myself, I had the Walleye which was pan fried and which had a parmesan/potato covering that protects the fish from the heat and keeps it moist. The walleye was perfectly cooked and a delight to eat. Unfortunately, it came with brussel sprouts which while seasoned properly were undercooked to the point that I could not put a fork in it nor cut it with a knife. Dessert was interesting. Companion ordered affogato which is a ball of vanilla ice cream which then has a shot of espresso poured over it. The ice cream was good but the espresso seemed a bit harsh over it. For myself, I had the strawberry cheesecake gelato, and I found myself in dessert heaven. I've had many gelatos in my life and this one topped them all. Smooth, creamy, and loaded with flavor it was almost hypnotic to eat it. I found out that it is a creation of Villa Dolce Artisan Desserts which is a partner of Sysco Foods. The company produces this wonderful dessert in a 76000 square foot facility located in Glendale, AZ. If I can find a local place that sells the pints I will fill my freezer with it! The fries didn't even have a pick that said gluten free, that was my first weird thought . I waited for her to come back over to explain the situation, she passed us and went to all 3 of her different tables. We watched her proceed to chit chat and make small talk with all these tables. I ask another server to go with pink and blonde hair to go grab my server or a manager. I watched her go talk to my server to be ignored for another five minutes. When I mean she walked right past as I was staring at her to go talk to the other servers at the bar, I was livid. I work at another restaurant, i'm younger but I give great service. My biggest thing is allergies, I always ask. It's crazy to me how I can be so obligated to making sure others don't get sick but a restaurant that specializes in allergies can't. I then asked another server to grab me a manager, our server was sitting at the table right next to us talking to a regular it looked like. Won't even comment on this grown women acting younger than me. This manager comes out first off all looking like he just came from off the line and they didn't even have a dinning manager and comes at us saying " well where's the picks that where in the food? " I told him about the one in the wings and not in the fries, also the wings were switched with flavors. He grabbed the wings away without even taking the fries or my friend's wings with the wrong sauce. He walked away. 15 minutes later another server brings my wings out. Everyone is done eating at this point, I ate a couple and wanted a togo box. My server didn't check on me once during this, nether did a manger. We asked the host for a check and some boxes and she had our server finally come over to us. I went home sick and throwing up because of cross contamination with the fries. If you had tattoos all over your arms, with braids working around 4 on Wednesday, shame on you. Honestly you should be embarrassed how you looked and treated another server girl. I've already contacted the upper management to handle this situation because i'm appalled. The negligence needs to be addressed, because shame on the establishment.
