I hadn't been to a Which Wich in almost 2 years. Today I decided to come here and there were kiosks and only one employee making sandwiches. This is the first time that I have seen the kiosks, but knowing that California is making this place pay $20 per hour, I understood. When I got to this location with my seven year old son, it looked closed. The lights were really dim. The open sign was not lit and I happen to see one lady behind the counter so I tried the door and it was open. I walked in, and the store seemed dingy and unclean, and really poorly lit. There was one lady behind the counter in a random pink T-shirt, and a random black hat that I guess was working there. She didn't look up. She didn't acknowledge me. She just kept making sandwiches. I was confused whether they were even open or not. I went over the computer screen and they were posted with hand written notes on there for customers about what to do. Was very weird and Jenkee. I ordered me and my son sandwiches. I got a meatballer and he got a California club. Since I got drinks, I reached behind the counter to get my own cups since she didn't hand them to us and obviously she was the only one working there at 1 o'clock on Friday! We went over to get our drinks and of course the ice machine wasn't spitting out any ice. So, I didn't wanna bother the one lady that was working there so I just got lemonade anyways . My son took a sip of his lemonade and looked at me and just said yuck and dumped it out. Then we tried the ice tea and it was worse! So we just threw the cups away and didn't mess with it. We waited about 15 minutes for our sandwiches to be made even though we are the only ones in the store she still seemed to be focused on the mobile orders. Once our sandwiches were about done, she called me over there and asked, do I want everything in a bag and I said, no just the two sandwiches. She replied, what about the french fries? I said we didn't order any french fries?? I didn't even know you had french fries? And she said well here are some french fries! And she gave me random french fries in a brown bag, where the fries were so greasy they were already soaking through the brown bag! I chuckled and said OK because at this point I thought I was being pranked!!! Then she wrapped my two sandwiches in some white paper and threw them in a random plastic white bag with a smiley face on it that says "have a nice day Thanks for shopping here!" No branded bags or signage or anything that you usually get it Which Wich. It was so f*ing weird! So, when I grabbed the sandwiches, I looked behind the counter.......and it... was.... disgusting! There was shit everywhere, and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days! I saw where the food was coming from, and what it looked like, and I was shocked! I took the bag with our food in it through the fries in there and walked out the door and just told my son you are not eating that I will get you something somewhere else!! Wait it gets better!!!! So we get in the car and I start driving down the street in our neighborhood and I ask him since he's in the back if he could grab my sandwich out and unwrap half of it and hand it to me so I can eat it while we drive to get something for him. I'll eat some dirty food...i was hungry! So he does so, and I take a bite... And I literally had to stop the car because it was so HOT and I started choking!!! There was so much chili pepper flakes for some reason on my meatball sub I nearly choked. I had to pull my car over, get out of the car and throw up any food that was in my throat because it was so spicy! And I can handle spice! It was brutal! Then my son starts yelling in the back because he had touched my sandwich when unwrapping it and then touched his face and his face was burning! So then I'm pouring water from my water bottle on the a T-shirt in my backseat, trying to wipe his face! It was a DISASTER!!!!! I CAN'T MAKE THIS SH*T UP!!!! To sum it up.......it looks like whoever owns that franchise hired two random people who needed work and told them "hey, here's some food back here just read what's on this ticket and throw it in some breads, wrap it up and send it on its way! It was disgusting! I would love to get my $35 that I spent on that back! But I think most importantly, if you're going to franchise and let people open stores, you better give them some brand training, set some standards and have them understand what they need to do to be successful! I would be embarrassed! It's not the people who were working there's fault! They were just trying to do their job as they were trained to do! Went here yesterday before attempting to use my free movie tickets from the Reader at AMC 20. I'd read reviews here about the place, and was a bit apprehensive at first, but I figured I'd give them a go... and I'm glad I did. As it was Mardi Gras, I decided on a New Orleans original - the Muffuletta (ham, salami, and olive spread). The helpful guy at the counter explained how the whole "write your order on a bag" concept worked (and honestly, people, it's not that difficult!) - and with the myriad of options, one could easily spend at least five minutes going over what you want on your sandwich, how you want it prepared, what kind of dressings you want, and so forth. My order turned out amazing - I went with the near-footlong, and the muffuletta turned out the way I wanted it (toasted, extra veggies, garlic mayo, and provolone). The house chips are also pretty good, with enough salt and pepper on them and a nice crunch as well. The staff even asked me during my meal how it was, and I responded with a thumbs up (I don't like talking with my mouth full)! Oh, and speaking of... when I paid for my order with the Hazard Valley gift card I'd won in a contest, the cashier and I spent a couple of moments talking about how we'd won them; turns out he'd won a few as well. One of the things I also liked was the wall of bag artwork - after paying homage to Macross on my bag, I figured I'd give Yelp some love. I ordered an Italian girder with all the usual fixins. Time to make our sandwiches was pretty average. Can't say too much about the staff since the bag method really doesn't allow much interaction. The sandwich, just average. I'd put it in the same category as subway. Nothing special about it. I wasn't crazy about all the fixins being located in the center since once they fold it they are really only on the top. Being a sandwich connoisseur myself, a good sandwich should have everything in a bite. With this, you have to take two bites, one for the lettuce, tomato, and mayo and one for the meats. Carlos and Davian are behind the counter when I ask what time they close. Carlos said 8:30pm was the closing time and we arrived at 8:29pm. He and Davian welcomed us to come in anyways. Which Wich has really gone down hill in the last few years. What used to be my go-to sandwich shop that I CRAVED, has now become just a "meh" experience. I order the turkey sandwich and top it with onion strings, ranch, bbq, and more. The turkey used to be juicy and flavorful, but now is dry and bland. Now that I'm all grownz up, Which Wich's ingredients and their unique way of ordering food is one of the places I go when I'm just sick of eating out. I have been to the Which wich in Eastlake and ordering is easy. You grab the bag that corresponds to the type of meats you want. I picked the bag with number 8 which is the Philly Cheese steak sandwich combo. I add on mushrooms and cucumbers with light mayo. For the chips, they are similar to sun chips. I got the salsa flavored one. For the drink, I go with raspberry iced tea. The meat in the sandwich was plentiful for me but the sandwich actually looks smaller than Subway's. The sandwich was pretty tasty. There were only a few tables inside and seating facing the glass windows. Pretty small inside but luckily it wasn't too busy.
