Went here for a last night in Tampa dinner with my mom. We made reservations beforehand and were seated right away. She wanted to try everything! We got the candied bacon, chicken meatballs, and brussel sprouts for our appetizers. The candied bacon was a little too thick for me. It was more like bacon lardons. The chicken meatballs were not very good. Lacked flavor even with the hummus. The brussel sprouts were delicious. I ordered the tri tip dip with fries for my main. It was pretty good but a little fatty. The fries were cooked to perfection. My favorite of the night was the whiskey cake! I think I would've just been happy with the sprouts, a cocktail and the whiskey cake. It was so delicious and decadent! Would recommend but would like to try different foods. read more

4.5 star meal and 5 star service. Had a lovely lunch here on a quiet rainy weekday. The ambiance is nice and we loved that there was outdoor seating. Susie was great and made the experience even better with her amazing service and very helpful suggestions about the menu. We tried the roasted veggies appetizer that was fantastic, perfectly grilled veggies with a delicious dressing. The farm salad was very good and so was their falafel wrap. My husband's chicken sandwich was tasty and the chicken thankfully was juicy and not dry. The food overall is nothing complicated but is prepared and presented very well. Butcher Board: Depending on the day you'll get something different but when I say the quality of the Charcuterie was on point I mean it was a 10/10. Everything from the prosciutto, to the jam, to the crackers was fresh and flavorful. Rigatoni: Creamy as can be, and packed with chicken and el dente pasta, I couldn't pass it up. It was very rich and smooth just how I like my rigatoni and not everyone chicken is good but this was more than decent. One of the many choices at International Plaza, Whiskey Cake is a must-visit place for foodies. The food are locally sourced and are simply delicious. We started with the goat cheese appetizer and it was devoured in less than 3 minutes. Make sure you ask for more toast to soak up all of its goodness. Our mains were steak and fries, and shrimp and grits. Both were cooked to perfection. Of course if you are a scotch or bourbon drinker, this place lives up to its name and offers an incredible selection of whisky options. Try one of their flights if you are exploring. Sadly, I am having to downgrade this to the lowest and most deserving rating..... Came here on a Tuesday night with a group of 6 people. Was hoping to be able to sit outside but unfortunately it was closed due to a private event. UNderstandable, except for fact that there was only about 8-9 people occupying that entire space for the short time that we were there, but regarldess... The hostess was extremely nice and accommodating, considering that we didn't have a reservation here. Got seated at a table inside that would accommodate all 6 of us quite comfortably. Our server came over and delivered water. At this point, only two of the six of us were here with the rest of the group due to arrive within minutes. We proceeded to order the barrel pick whiskey flight to get started. The flights were delivered a very short time later and it wasn't until we got half-way through the flights that we noticed that we were given the weekly pick whistelpig flight, which is DOUBLE the price of the barrel pick flight. It was still a great flight so we let it go. We made sure the server was aware of the mistake, however. When the rest of the gang arrived, that is when the service went downhill completely. Several of them had been waiting over 15 mins to receive a single drink, when two of us had ordered a second flight and those got delivered ahead of the other drinks when they were ordered well after the others. By this time, we had complained to the hostess who was able to get the manager over to speak to us. We advised the manager to cancel all the pending drink orders as we were going to cash out and take our business elsewhere. This was unacceptable. We proceeded to another nearby spot where the service and food was excellent. I will not be back here any time soon. This place needs a management overhaul. read more

Anyone else poop themselves after dining here? Had brunch here once last week with a friend. We both got French toast and bacon with coffees. Later that day I was lying on the couch and farted. Only it wasn't a fart and I ruined my underwear AND shorts. Fast forward to yesterday. Husband is planning a going away party and picks this place. Same friend and I are in attendance. Me, the friend, and my husband all have the runs since eating here. My husband is the one to poop himself this time. Mind you we are all adults who do not poop themselves. Maybe it's the coffee since that's the common denominator between last time and this time? We three are the only ones who got the coffee. The rest of the guests were my husband's friends and he doesn't talk bathroom stuff with them. So I don't know how they are doing. 5 stars for the food though. It's really all good! Sat outside for a Monday night happy hour. We tried the guava gimlet, old fashioned, house made chips and dip, and meat and cheese board. Our waitress, Julia was everything. She was so friendly and helpful and made the experience even more enjoyable. I learned that all the food is made in house farm to table! If you snag the table outside surrounded by plants and fresh herbs you can also enjoy frequent visits from Monarch butterflies. I was in a party of 12 and everyone liked the food they ordered. I had the Tri Tip French Dip sandwich and it was delicious. My only complaint is that they make their own ketchup and it just wasn't good. Just give me Heinz. The service was good, folks were friendly. The ambiance was nice. My second complaint is that the address takes you to a mall in GPS and you have to search for the restaurant... plus the mall parking lots are under construction and difficult to navigate. read more

This might be my new favorite brunch spot. Let's start with the Colossal Cinnamon Roll, it's giant and so delicious. It's perfectly moist (I hate dry cinnamon rolls) the pecans add the perfect amount of crunch. Great to share with a couple of people. The Crab Fritters were light and cheesy and the dipping sauce was bomb, I wanted to dip everything in it. We also ordered the chicken cheese melt and farmers breakfast. Our book club invaded the dining room this weekend for brunch, and we were very happy ladies thanks to WC staff and chefs! We had a variety of drinks- from mimosa flights to build your own Bloody Mary to cold fashioned (coffee infused old fashioned with cold foam on top!) to martinis and more! The food- well we shared almost the whole menu! Favorites included the goat cheese app, apple crisp French toast (yes, please), red crab Benedict, and the signature whiskey cake to celebrate my birthday- it's a huge piece and we shared among 8! There are a couple of less-than-amazing aspects, but not enough to take it down a whole star- it's loud in the dining room (and we made it louder), the jalapeño biscuits were AMAZING but the accompanying gravy was not on par, and one person got a burger which was way over seasoned. I love the open industrial design with a great indoor bar and a separate outdoor bar. There are plenty of old fashioned and whiskey cocktails on the menu to get the meal started. For lunch I enjoyed candied bacon accompanied by a BBQ lime aioli ($13) as well as a baby kale and roasted chicken salad ($16.50). My only complaint is that the place was unreasonably cold, and to up the game on their old fashioned and other cocktails, craft ice with a slower melting rate than small cubes would be nice. Last weekend, we made a terrible choice and decided to go to Whiskey Cake for brunch. It had been on my list to check out, but I have no reason to return. We had reservations for 7 people around noon. We were greeted and seated immediately. The restaurant was about half full. We looked over the menus and decided to have a few cocktails and appetizers. We started with the cinnamon roll, duck wings, and a few cocktails. The apps came out quickly and looked great. The cinnamon roll was amazing and so were the duck wings. That is about where our luck ended. Our cocktails took a while to arrive and when they did, they weren't quite right. One of the cocktails was warm and should have been chilled. It was fixed after we were able to flag down our server. We decided to order our mains while she was there. We had a burger, steak sandwich, chicken cheese melt, croque madame, shakshuka, and a basic breakfast. We waited quite a while for our food, over an hour. We watched tables get sat around us and served while we still had no food. We ordered a few drinks and they took nearly 20 minutes to arrive. We were getting up to find a manager when our food started coming out. Sadly, 5 out of 7 plates were delivered. We waited another 10 minutes for the last two plates to arrive and they were delivered luke warm to cold. The food that was delivered first was now also barely warm. I will spare the details of the food, but nearly every dish was lacking. From food being overcooked to stale bread for the sandwiches. The food was underwhelming to say the least. One of our guests had enjoyed the Whiskey Cake in Dallas two days before our brunch and agreed this was a terrible experience comparatively. We really wanted to try the Whiskey Cake that they are known for. We decided to order that and their seasonal bread pudding. This again took a while to be delivered, nearly 20 minutes. They arrived and looked good, but like the other food, they were both disappointing. Both desserts were rather dry and left a bit to be desired. Our server apologized for how slow the kitchen was and did not charge us for them. The rest of the restaurant seemed to get served in adequate time, so we weren't sure if it was the kitchen's fault. Overall, we were really underwhelmed by our experience. We were there nearly 2 and a half hours and most of that time was spent waiting on mediocre or cold food outside of the appetizers. This was our second time stopping by and we were excited to have the option to dine inside or on the patio an hour before closing. We chose to dine inside (it was a bit too dark), but we still enjoyed date night. Our waiter was pretty cool and helped us navigate the menu with awesome recommendations.
