    The general Manager

They ask people to leave if you ask about their packaging fee. They escorted a man out of their restaurant when he asked about it, only to have the general manager trespassed him just because he asked about the fee that they never told them about.

My fiance brought me here on Valentines Day and we sat at the bar. We typically like to sit at the bar because you get to interact more with the staff and other patrons. The bar is beautiful, lots of room. Even on Valentines day, it wasnt over crowded. Our food came out quickly, the staff and bartenders were friendly and super attentive. I had the prime rib and my fiancé had the ribeye, both with potatoes and we also had the crab cakes. Everything was delicious. Recommend sitting at the bar. You wont be disappointed.

**GOAT ALERT** Carrot Cake The reviews for J. Alexander's have been on lockdown for months. I went here way back in November, but was unable to write a review then so this one will be almost 6 months after the fact. One of my old co-workers used to always bug me about going to J. Alexander's. He knows I love going to try restaurants and especially fancy spots. He was a little dumbfounded when I told him I've never been here, but he always comes here when he drives over from Orlando. Up first, the $14 deviled eggs. Ok so my only gripe is these things are frozen so cold I dang near had frostbite in my mouth. I think I would have enjoyed them more if they were just chilled or slightly cold. I don't know if this was a mistake or they're always served like this. For my main course I had the $25 French Dip. Sadly, I was not into this French Dip. I should have gotten something else. However, after I complained about the French Dip being very average the bartender told me the best spot for one is at Bazille inside of Nordstrom at the mall. Read my review over there. He nailed that one. Best hidden gem in Tampa Bay. The $16 espresso martini was flat out bad. Wouldn't order that again either. Now, here's the show stopper and the superstar of the day: Carrot Cake!!!! I've always thought Fleming's has had the best carrot cake around. Hello J. Alexander's. I now have to bring my mom here so she can compare too. I loved the carrot cake here. 10/10. I might even make this a **GOAT ALERT**. I thought it was that good. Would seriously consider coming here just for dessert only.

J Alexander's has become our pre Lightning game dinner spot over the last 2 seasons - so I figured I needed to update my review. After probably 20+ visits over the last year, sitting in the bar or the dining room we have had nothing but excellent quality food and fantastic service. A couple of my favs: French dip sandwich, Cypress salad with grilled chicken, grilled artichokes, and the burger. They have a great wine list and I r seen martinis served that looked amazing.

Let me start by saying I normally love it here. The service and atmosphere are awesome. I never stray from my usual...the French dip and the carrot cake. I did not get the carrot cake today as I'm headed to a move and needed to save room for my snack. But I did get the French dip and unfortunately it was disappointing. It was very fatty and I think the meat just wasn't cooked long enough. There was limited horse radish too. The fries were good as always and the bread was delicious. I really hope this was a one off because usually I love this sandwich. I want to continue to get it. I'm not giving up on it but I'm not sure if I'll be back for it as soon.

Friendly staff! Great food! Short wait! The prices are a bit pricy but the veggie burger I got was delicious and they were able to substitute fries with broccoli instead. The food came out quickly and our waitress checked in on us. Large parking lot so easy to park and right off the highway!

We found J. Alexander's on Resy and decided to give it a try, glad we did! Even though it's a steakhouse, they offer a wide variety of dishes, from fish to red and white meats. I ordered the Prime Rib, which was delicious, and the large serving of mashed potatoes was a nice surprise. My fiancée had the ribs with mac and cheese plus fries, also very tasty. My only con was that the mashed potatoes could have used a bit more salt but overall delicious. One detail I really liked was how they served my dirty martini. Instead of filling the glass to the very top (which makes it easy to spill) or giving me less, they filled the glass comfortably and brought the extra in a small side cup so I could refill. Smart and thoughtful! Our server seemed a little inexperienced but still provided excellent service. Overall, I had a great experience, and I highly recommend this place. I'm excited to go back!

Yep love this place too great espresso chocolate martinis the steak is good and cooked on wood. Fire service is always good right loaded baked potato. We love going to the bar and hanging out there for happy hour.

I had driven by J. Alexander's multiple times but decided to give it a try after seeing it on Resy platform. I had a full rack of ribs with fries and Mac and cheese. The food was really tasty and I enjoyed the thin crispy fries. My Fiance really enjoyed his prime rib also. The ambiance is nice and upscale.

No need for menu, prime rib and dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. Always consistent, try it!

Our early evening dinner was fantastic. Excellent service, excellent food and everything we would expect from a fine dining experience curated by the family-owned The Ponte Group. We're big fans of On Swann and Olivia and have had Ponte Modern American on our list for a while. We arrived to Midtown and were ready for our dining experience. We received a friendly welcome into the light and airy entrance. We were escorted along white cloth covered tables to the spot where we would dine. Our server was around quick and started on drinks for us. The cocktail menu offers classic and modern versions of some of the most common drinks. I love an old fashioned and opted for the "modern" version. Instead of bourbon, it was made with Japanese whiskey, kokuto, which is considered to be the world's healthiest brown sugar and black walnut bitters. It had depth and flavor and a flair that made it stand out compared to the classic drink. My wife had a mocktail. It was light, sweet and hit the spot she said. We didn't order any starters but a man with a variety of fresh breads came around multiple times. He offered up as much as we would like, everything from sourdough to focaccia and beyond. My favorite was a black olive sourdough. The Chef also sent out a small espresso cup filled with his signature mushroom soup. At first a little confused, I eventually got bold with it and sipped this like I was sipping coffee. It was really good. Thick, rich and flavorful. The white mushrooms and earthy truffle creme made this a hit. I could have had a whole bowl of this but soup just isn't my go-to. Between the cocktail, bread and soup, this dinner was already starting out pretty fantastic. For our mains, I got the house specialty Beef Wellington. My wife got the boneless short ribs entree. Our food arrived and we were ready to dig in. Like most elegant dining experiences, you can expect top notch food, smaller portions and a focus on presentation. My Beef Wellington was served medium rare. It was wrapped in salty prosciutto, mushroom duxelles and had a little extra depth, foie gras. The duck liver added texture and a buttery flavor that melded with everything well. The earthy minced mushrooms had an array of pointed subtle flavor. I appreciated the classic take on a classic dish, that had a hint of flair that worked so well. The red wine demi glas was an excellent dipping sauce and added to the overall presentation with it's dark red smear on the plate. My wife highly enjoyed her short ribs. The tender beef was rich in flavor and paired well with pureed potatoes and an apple slaw garnish for a hint of sweet with a little spice. We also shared a side dish. The campanelle mac and cheese. This was rich, creamy and an excellent Mac and cheese side that we would definitely get again. While we didn't order dessert, they did send out three small sweets. A mini key lime custard, dark chocolate and a small chocolate chip cookie. All of them were sweet and tasty. A nice little finish. Our dinner at Ponte was great. From the service, to the food, to the ambiance and experience, all maintain that level of elegance and modern that make it what it is: a restaurant you should eat at.

I've been following Chef Chris Ponte since his Café Ponte days in Clearwater years ago, so dining at Ponte had been on our list for a long time. It absolutely lived up to our expectations. We chose to sit in the Gramercy Lounge, which had a lively, energetic atmosphere that we thoroughly enjoyed. It felt sophisticated yet relaxed, creating the perfect setting for a special night out. The service was outstanding (Devon was wonderful!), attentive, professional, and genuinely focused on making our evening memorable. We started with the baked oysters and French onion soup, both of which were excellent. For the main course, we shared the 40 oz Porterhouse, cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. The sides were just as impressive, the lobster mac & cheese was rich and decadent, and the creamed spinach was outstanding. To celebrate our anniversary, we enjoyed glasses of Pinot Grigio and an Old Fashioned, and the restaurant even included a thoughtful anniversary toast that made the evening feel even more special. Every dish was beautifully prepared, and the quality and consistency of the food showcased why Chef Ponte has remained one of Tampa Bay's most respected culinary talents. Ponte delivered everything we were hoping for: exceptional food, impeccable service, a vibrant atmosphere, and a memorable anniversary experience. We left already looking forward to our next visit. Highly recommend Ponte for date nights, anniversaries, celebrations, or anyone looking for one of the finest dining experiences in the Tampa Bay area.

I didn't like the coloring of the bathroom, it would make me crazy if I had to sit in there for a long period of time. Service: The minute we walked in, we weren't greeted by anyone and we just looked around because we'd never been here before. It took about a minute or two for someone to help us get a table. The rest of the service was good overall. Our food came out quick. I do wish the happy hour options were explained to us when we sat down, we had to ask our waiter to explain it to us. Food: I'd say overall their food is good, it's not the best I've had in Tampa. If you want to come for a decent brunch and drinks this is a good spot. We tried the 'potato latkes' as an appetizer which was really good. I had their 'Smashburger' for my entree which was good, but I've had better. I did like their fries. The drinks were the best part! I had their 'Pink Hugo' which was really good and my friend had their 'Green Machine' which was delicious. Overall the food was good, but nothing amazing to me. Maybe I didn't order the right thing. I'd be willing to come back and try their brunch options as that seems to be what people like the most. Overall, it's a good place to come for lunch with a friend. It wasn't super busy on a weekday, so you don't need a reservation. The prices are decent, but everything in Tampa is more pricey now. **Parking Tip: they have a VERY small parking lot for customers behind the building. There is a larger gravel parking lot behind the building where you have to PAY to park. It was around $6/2 hours, I'm not sure if it's more expensive at different times. Try to look for free street parking in the area if their free lot is full before going to the paid lot! Or if you can car pool with friends do that!

We were seated at a super small table so it made for an uncomfortable situation with so little real estate available. Also the place looks like it's converted from a garage or something with metal walls and roll up doors that made the sound bounce around. The service was nice. We were well taken care of but they seemed to be spread thin because getting refills and getting our check took a bit longer than expected. One ssue was that the menu was very different from what was online via Google. I should have gone to their website I guess, but several items were not available and the filet I was so excited for had a very different set of items. No Brie au gratin potatoes or braised rainbow chard, citrus gremolata and a fig chutney. Now, let me say that my filet was delicious. I loved the sauce and the asparagus was good but for me, the potatoes were super underwhelming. A nice sauce or something would have made them better. They just tasted bland, were really dry and lacked any flavor. My wife expected the lamb or pork chops, they were both not on the menu. She got fish and chips which she really enjoyed, so it was a win. The Asian wings were our appetizer and were delightful too. Now the only real negative for us was the noise. We got there at 5:30 and it was fine. But as more people came in, the sound bounced around so bad that it became almost unbearable for me. I wanted to go so bad because people laughing and talking made my head hurt. Would I go back? Probably not. I didn't enjoy how loud it was. The food was very good though, so perhaps takeout would be more my speed. We had a nice meal and my leftovers were delicious later that evening.

Came with family and had excellent service from Anthony and Tony. The New England clam chowder, shrimp pasta, seafood pasta, and crispy shrimp (lightly battered) were all delicious. Loved that I could swap the slaw for pasta--nice surprise! Hope to return much sooner next time.

Located on the corner of W Cleveland Street & S Dale Marbry Highway, in the Bon Air Neighborhood, Shells Seafood is very easy to get to. A talk sign that towers over the restaurant can be seen from hundreds of feet away while driving; it's hard to miss the sign. Plenty of parking in the stalls on the property as well as neighborhood parking and local stores adjacent parking spots. Once inside, you are greeted by the cute looking host at the nicely decorated front reception. She seats you immediately to a an open floor spacing with two sides of seating and a centralized semi-circle bar area. There are roughly over 30 tables and plenty of room to accommodate small to larger. The cajun boil here is fabulous! Loved every minute of it. Will be visiting again ... maybe not during the hurricane seasons. :)
