We recently moved to this neighborhood and this restaurant is couple of blocks from our house. We gave it a try and it turned out to be a great restaurant. The waiters were very friendly and we were able to seated in a very shout time with party of 9. The sushi rolls were very fresh and nicely presented. My friend paid for his food over the phone then I get there and they told me he hadn't paid for his food.. turns out my friend indeed had paid before so now they charged us twice and on top of that it was two different prices!! How could it be the same meal but different prices?! Then I bring my friend his food and of course it's the wrong order!!! This place doesn't know whats going on. We were seated outside and I see the waiter walk out with my sushi then walk back in with it to come back 15 minutes later so it can come with my brothers sushi. That means it was sitting out the entire time. The food was terrible. Old stinky fish, dry and hard rice. The sesame chicken was cheap and used too much batter and sauce to mask the bad quality. Get to know this place through a recommendation from a friend. Tried this place out the other day. The verdict, 'love it'. The place is spacious n well spread across the dining with a lot of booths n round tables. Food tasted authentic and reasonably priced. We tried some sampler which consists of 5 different types of Chinese delicacies. For mains; Pad Thai, crispy duck, and roasted salmon are definitely the killer. We paired our dishes with the well known Lychee martini and pomegranate mojito. That was out of this world!!!! The manager is the nicest-always great to talk to him when I pick up my food. Their delivery is usually very quick and prompt as well! I came here with my mother in February 2011. While the restaurant was pretty much vacant--at least 20 tables in the center of the place were available--the hostess sat us in a cramped corner table right behind the cashier. The arrangement having been nonsensical, I commented to the hostess (I love it when they can't speak "Engrish") that we wanted to be moved. She responded, "We saving seats for reservation in couple hours." Then she made some quip about how it was more important to hope that many people were going to be seated rather than make 2 people comfortable now. When I told her that we'd be done eating in about 30 minutes anyway, she refused to move us. We promptly got up, left the restaurant, and I told the hostess to go F herself. Incidentally, a friend of mine who works for the Department of Health said that if you saw the sodium content for the dishes being served, you'd have an on-the-spot coronary thrombosis. read more

Wild Ginger is plagued by the same thing that plagues most Asian fusion restaurants - bad to mediocre food. I'm not sure why this is, but they pick the safest and tamest flavours and recipes. The result is that nothing exceptional ever gets cooked. But this Chinese boy have had much better food. read more

Sluggish service. Ack. And that creepy guy with the French textbook just nabbed my fork without asking! Ack. A fancy presentation that attracts so many patrons that it degrades the whole establishment's overall service. Ack. A party of nine people, with the majority of them being "young," ordered Lo Mein noodles, vegetables, chicken, and tofu (YAY FOR TOFU) with that 'magical' spice of their wild ginger (A blend of ingredients I presume; not just a wild ginger). Of course, the tofu was SUPERB. It was complimented with a spice that really brought out my enjoyment and even it's vegetables were pleasurable. I decided to steal a fellow diner's noodles when they weren't looking. They were good as well, but honestly, they are only a tad bit above a regular Chinese food joint's lo mein noodles. In other words, everything but the tofu was a-little-bit-above-average. What this restaurant tries to do is it consumes people's cash by pulling them in with a beautiful looking restaurant. Then it tricks them into thinking that all their dishes are extraordinary when really, all they have done is that they have made improvements on the Chinese fast food that we have eaten thousands of times before. The service was slow ... possibly due to the high volume of people and noise in the dining room. I had to yell "garconne" to receive only little-to-no attention from the passing waiters who glanced at me with apathetic emotions. The water was watery. My teriyaki chicken came w/ mixed veggies. I can't eat the veggies, so I asked if it could be replaced w/ just string beans. The waiter took my dish, walked to front of rest. away from kitchen. About 5 mins later, I was given saute beans, but chicken was now cold, not warm. Had to ask for more water, which took forever to get. Asked for the dessert menu which took forever to get. Finally asked for check, which took forever 2. This is the worse Christmas Eve dinner ever. Wait staff was never the same, we just got the attention of whomever walked past our table. I've never had a BARTENDER who pays such extreme attention to detail. Medy was amazingly meticulous and not only made second to none drinks (I came two days in a row) , but the chef was attentive to detail as well, placing a flower on my food and ensuring that the tuna was fresh. No gumminess and quite fresh with a light soy sauce that enveloped the essence of the sweetness of teriyaki sauce. The bartender got bored and made me a plethora of drinks that delighted the palate and gave a great buzz without knocking you off your feet. He didn't talk me to death for the tip and j appreciated the privacy. Nice ambiance and for these two days, I have not been disappointed with the drinks nor the food. I enjoyed my meal at Wild Ginger. They offer a nice selection of asian-fusiony meals and had a pretty holiday decor. I had the lemongrass griled shrimp. The shrimp was tender and the vegetables were al dente, just the way I like! For those who don't like spicy food, the items with hot pepper icons on the menu are EXTREMELY spicy. Mine didn't have one but it was pretty hot. Green chilies were disguised in my food and I thought they were string beans and I hadn't had anything that spicy since I ate a green indian chilie at Tamarind in nyc. I tried the chicken udon noodles, hot & sour soup and fried duck wontons. I absolutely loved the udon noodles, the sauce was perfectly seasoned and the entire dish had a wonderful flavor depth. The hot & sour soup could have been a little spicier for my taste but I'm usually a fan of very spicy food. The wontons were also delicious, just slightly tough (the wonton, not the duck inside which was awesome) I would definitely come back especially because of the pleasant waitstaff. Sent my son and his girlfriend (17) here for a nice and special Asian dinner last week. I was so disappointed to hear of how they were treated upon discovery of a cockroach infestation. Yes-cockroaches! Disgusting! They were eating when one fell in his girlfriends dinner and they saw many more of them on the ceiling and wall right behind them. His girlfriend proceeded to run to the bathroom and throw up her entire meal..they were then told, by the staff, that there was nothing they could do for them so my son continued to paid the $50 bill for the two dinners. I am so upset and will never eat there again nor will any of my girlfriends! I once spent a saturday afternoon here drinking martinis ( wild ginger martini with lychee) and upon further inspections, I learned they also have huge dinning place with amazing choices of Asian Cuisine and Sushi Rolls. I hear great things about crispy red snapper and being a snapper guy I couldn't resist myself from trying it out and eventually i was like WOW. It was totally different than the snapper dish i had so far and believe me it's simply amazing from presentation to it's taste. So I have seriously not been to this place in over 7 years because the last time I went it was terrible. Well, I went there on a date with Coop on Friday and boy was I surprised! He ordered the steamed dumplings and another vegetarian dish for dinner -both where amazing! My miso soup was quite good and I had the seared tuna with soba noodles dish which left me wanting more. This has been one of my go to places for Chinese and sushi delivery for a while and the food has been pretty solid. Also the delivery is very quick (especially if you order on Seamless). However if you are looking at the Thai dishes, I'd try some of the other real Thai places in Great Neck first. I had their pad Thai for the first time tonight and it tastes like salty, burnt lo mein. I ordered and was told 45 minutes. 2 hours later I still had not received my food, and when I called I got the run around. When the food finally arrived it arrived cold. Three words: they use MSG! My husband is very allergic to MSG and had a bad reaction to his last order. I called and they admitted that MSG is in all of their sauces.
