Went last night and they were little gnats and bugs flying everywhere landing on the food. Normally, I enjoy this place but the bugs where out of control. When finished I watched seven or eight bugs flying and walking around on the used dishes waiting to be picked off the table, I had to move the dishes to the next table to get them away from where I was sitting, It was disgusting and said this was the last time I was ever going there again. It actually felt like I eating in a Third World country. This could be resolved easily if the had the proper equipment installed that attracted these bugs instead of becoming out of control like this. read more

Ugh, Wild Ginger. Great Neck's go-to restaurant if you're craving Chinese, but don't want takeout, but get the same food at a higher price. The same goes for sushi, it's the place you go if you're trying to please a large crowd, eat semi-decent food, but have a nice ambiance and great service. I've been coming here for years both for takeout and dining-in and each time I always ask myself WHY?! I know 10 other locations to get better sushi, and 10 other locations to get better Chinese. Ordered in. Was enjoying my food until I helped myself to another scoop of chicken fried rice when I noticed a roach. Unfortunately I do not have a photo because I was completely disgusted and sick to my stomach, that I immediately got up and threw everything in the garbage to bring it outside. I ordered szechuan dumplings($8.50) The filling was good, the sauce was good, the noodle was thick, I would not order again. The dumplings with the sauce was a little weird for me, it was like dumplings with gravy. I think for the price, I'd skip the dumplings next time. I also ordered off the lunch menu - chicken pad thai($11), sesame chicken($11.5) and Thai coconut curry chicken($12). Pad Thai was soooo good, everything was exactly as expected and a good sized portion! Sesame chicken was delish!! And the coconut curry was hearty and delish!! I visited Wild Ginger earlier this year (pre-pandemic) and enjoyed the experience. First, this place is really huge inside. It's almost deceiving how big it is, because the storefront is quite small and unassuming, but the inside is practically cavernous. I also really liked the décor (Asian-esque), and the spacing between the seats. As for the food, it was tasty -- definitely Asian fusion with an American twist. We enjoyed multiple dishes, including satay, spring rolls, crispy noodles, dumplings, and a few rolls. Really, we were all over the map with our ordering, but everything was good, and the portions were enormous. The service was good, too. Although the food came out a bit haphazardly, the servers were good natured about it, and couldn't have been more accommodating (extra chopsticks, plates, etc.). Nice looking restaurant. Service was ok. One of our party of 6 asked if they had any infused vodka and the bartender looked like a deer staring at headlights. Meanwhile the drinks menu had pear and fig vodka. Appetizers: chicken satay small but ok; Tempura shrimp were actually Panko coated but good; I've had better scallion pancakes and chicken lettuce wraps elsewhere. The entrees were really good especially the Mango chicken (just spicy enough) and the crispy duck were the highlights. The others were good too. Will I go back? Please stay away from this "restaurant" at all costs!!! I have never been so disgusted in my life to eat at any establishment. This place is absolutely filthy and unsanitary. While sitting at my table I could barely eat the subpar food as there were knats and roaches everywhere. There was a dead fly on top of the table next to me. When I pointed it out to the waiter he merely through a napkin on it and kept walking. Absolutely vile and disgusting food!!! Never have I had food quality this bad!! Foods not consistently great the first time I tried their sesame chicken entree it was delicious. The next time I went it was ehhhh the last time I have gone the sauce was like gelatin and bitter. This is seriously a nice place. The restaurant is decent sized. The lighting is intimate. They have a full bar in the front. It is all around a delightful place. There is tons of parking outside as well. It is a nice place for friends and family. They have a lot of staff and fast service. The green tea here was great. It came in a cool glass that looks like a vase. The appetizers are decently priced and delicious. I tried the dumplings which were super good. They have so many different types of sushi but I usually only get California, which I enjoyed. They have wok and noodles. They also have authentic Chinese food/Thai food dinners such as lo mein, pad thai, general tsos chicken, etc. I had gotten chicken lo mein which was super good. However the reason i could never go back here is the fact i paid for alcoholic drinks which were literally JUICE. It tasted like there was no alcohol, i had atleast 5 drinks and didn't feel a slight buzz. (I do not have a high tolerance) i even told the waiter that it tasted like there was no alcohol in the drink. He remade it and it tasted the same. My co workers and we came here after work on a Friday and we ordered shots of fireball and the waiter seriously sounded like he was judging us for drinking at 6pm... on a Friday. This place is FILTHY! This used to be me and my husbands favorite spot.. We went there on Monday with the baby, sat down in a dingy booth, ordered our drinks, and i look to my right and there were 2 dead roaches on the bench inches away from me. And another crawling on the wall. We got up and left immediately. So disappointing, and disgusting. We'll never be going back. To think, i almost fed my baby food from that roach infested kitchen. So, in the happening burbs like GN, the happy hour in Wild Ginger is a saving grace and so lovely to go to around 4 to 5pm and the wine options and the array of drinks with dim sum are an essential to try once in a while when you want a break from the mundane. I highly recommend this place, the happy hour and small bites here till 7pm weekdays. read more

Nice staff here. Miso Soup was a little too salty, but I liked it. The sangria was very full-bodied and sweet with really nice little bits of fruit... loved that. The decor is comfortable, and while the place isn't cheap, I've seen worse as far as pricing goes. They've got some very creative dishes on the menu, and I'd like to return to try them, but tonight (a Sunday) I opted for the Chilean Sea Bass. It was quite good. I tried my wife's coconut-curry soup. That was interesting, and really good. On a side note, I saw some staff talking about some plants they potted under the skylight in the dining room. I've been here twice and the first experience was okay other than the confusion with credit cards (mentioned below). The second experience was horrible. I ordered the exact same dish both times, but the second time it was completely soaked in oil. I could see half a centimeter of oil on top of the sauce my vegetables were soaked in. Not only that, but I decided to order a diet coke as well. I had two glasses. They charge you $2.50 per glass, so no free refills. I have never been to a restaurant that does that. If you want to charge per glass, you should just serve it from a can. Fountain drinks cost 5cents per glass! Or if you want to charge for refills, don't charge another $2.50. They can even charge $1 or $0.50, but not 2.50!!! This was enough for me to never want to go back. The service was horrible as well. I had to ask two times for Sriracha sauce and I had to wave down a guy to get another drink. They weren't busy at all, as they were all standing around. They definitely do not come by to ask if you have everything you need. The first time I came, my coworker and I both paid with credit card and I had specifically told him that my card is "this one." He didn't listen and ended up charging my coworker's dish on my card and vice versa because my coworker has a female name. So the waiter looked at the first card, saw a woman's name, and assumed it was mine. If he had looked at both cards, he would notice that we both have female names. But if he paid any attention to the last names, he would notice that one is Asian and the other is not. read more

Service was good, but food was just okay. Sambal Sambal with chicken ($15.50)- marked "spicy" but it was not spicy at all. It was a mix of big pieces of chicken and vegetables (onion, eggplant, basil, zucchini, red pepper). The portion of chicken was relatively large in comparison to the entire dish, but there really wasn't anything special about the dish. It definitely tastes a lot like the Thai dish pad kee mao due to the basil. Wok-Glazed Ginger with chicken ($15.50)- consists of caramelized onions, mushroom, string bean, bell pepper. This tastes more like your typical Chinese take-out. I personally didn't really like this dish because it was more on the sweeter side. Golden Dragon Roll (14.00): consists of spicy tuna, avocado, crunch, sliced eel, and wasabi tobiko sprinkled on top. I would give this roll a 3.5/5- not incredibly delicious but doesn't taste bad- just average. I really despise wasabi but I didn't taste any wasabi in this! Interior: PLENTLY of seating, and the wall waterfall by the bar looks really pretty! I came here on a double date spontaneously. right off the bat the service was quick! we were seated immediately, it's fairly large inside I'm so glad there was no wait. My waiter was kind of weird, he kept saying weird things to be humorous but ended up freaking us out which is why I'm going to take off a star. I went here tonight with a friend and we both loved it! Although its in a shopping center I wasn't too worried because it was a shopping center in Great Neck. Just from looking at the sign outside you could tell this place was legit. We walk inside the place is very well decorated, clean and very inviting. The service I thought was great and by that I mean they didn't bother us for no reason. We both got drinks, I got a Shanghai Mai Tai and she got a Mango Mojito both very good and a lot of it! For starters I got the baby back ribs and she got the vegetarian dumplings. My ribs were good not great but I've also been spoiled with amazing ribs so its hard for me to judge ribs now. I'm not a huge fan of dumplings to begin with so I will remain indifferent, but she must of loved them cause I had 1 she had the rest. Now for main course we shared the Singapore thin rice noodles and the Red Snapper. Normally we go with the Chilean Sea Bass but tonight we thought we'd try something different and the description of the Snapper was more enticing. When the Snapper arrived it looked soooo good we just dove right in and completely forgot to take a picture of it for you guys. (sorry, next time!) The Snapper sat on a nice bed of baby bok choy (my fav), had a nice crunchy crust (crunchy to the very last bite!) on the outside with the inside having a smooth silky texture, definitely fresh! As for the noodles they were cooked perfectly and tasted as good as noodles can taste! I will definitely be back for sure, I'm excited to try the other entrees. Next time around I will most likely skip the starters so I can leave more room for main/side dishes and dessert which I unfortunately didn't get to try this time around.
