I wish there was a convenient location closer to the Westside because the food is so delicious! We attended an event nearby and wanted a light casual dinner afterwards. Most of the local eateries were closed so we ended up here. I was immediately impressed with the chill vibes and the warm ambiance. It's very causal but really attractive and quaint at night. The menu options are healthy and filling, nothing greasy or fried. I had the Superfood Ensalada, which was fresh and fully loaded with chicken, quinoa, kale, black beans, roasted corn, and more! It's served with Chipotle vinaigrette, which I was hesitant to try because I'm not a fan of Chipotle (I know, I know). However, the server convinced me to sample a little on the side. Much to my surprise I was back at the counter asking for more! Even the Chipotle dressing was a winner for me. Speaking of service, the employees were very pleasant and welcoming. I especially appreciated the helpfulness of the guy who sold me on the Chipotle dressing. There are so many appealing items on the menu. Obviously I couldn't try everything at once, so I ordered a few sides to take home for later including the Mexican street corn (delish!). This place has crossed my mind at least a dozen times since my visit, so I really hope they open up more locations. Taco Tuesday was great, cant complain much about a 2 dollar tacos? Not unless it's a chicken place and the chicken is dry in the taco! You can't be called "Wildbird" and the chicken be dry! I have eaten tons of Mexican food, Americanized Mexican food and this is one of the most disappointing burritos I have ever eaten. Where was the chicken? This new spot on 8th Street is exactly what we needed. In Downtown, it's difficult to find a spot with fresh food that's delicious and quick. Because this spot is new, there is a bit of a wait for the food but not more than you would expect for food that is being prepared for you on the spot. Everything tastes fresh, not frozen. The staff is friendly and the store is clean. We had a lunch catered for the office. Everyone was pleased and that's sometimes difficult to do when you have 10 people with differing tastes. If you are a fan of the California Chicken Cafe on Melrose you will be happy to hear this place gives them a run for their money! Now I don't have to drive all the way over to Melrose. I can walk here! The chicken is as good as CCC! Juicy flavorful and a little spicier. This place is like CCC with a Mexican tweak to it. There is a new Wildbird in Westwood on Lindbrook right outside of UCLA. Wildbird has free range, vegetarian fed, free of hormones raised chickens which I love. I had a to go order and tried the Quarter Chicken with Kale Slaw, Sweet Potatoes, and a side of their creamy green salsa. The meal came with corn tortillas too. The whole meal was very filling. The kale salad was delish! Sweet potatoes were good. The chicken I have to say was a little dry. I like for my chicken to be a lot more juicy. I'm hoping that was just a one time thing. And the tortillas smelled funny to me so I didn't like them. But all in all I would definitely come here again and maybe try something else. Now it's hidden down the alleyway no one has any reason to walk down. Despite this, it's become my go-to stop before shows at the Palladium or any other commitment in that area of Hollywood.
