Came here for breakfast. I love the open-space concept and relaxing vibe. You order from the counter and seat yourself. The staff is friendly and accommodating. We got the breakfast plate and a variety of pastries. Breakfast Plate- This is a hearty plate with scrambled eggs, double smoked bacon, roasted potatoes, and sourdough toast. Eggs were fluffy and the roasted potatoes had a nice garlicky and herby flavor. The toast is fresh and tasty. Shoutout to one of the best bacons I've ever had! It was thick, almost like pork belly, with a crisp exterior while remaining juicy inside. Pastries- Their almond croissant is the best I've tried. It's perfectly flaky and buttery, with a generous amount of almond filling and just the right amount of sweetness. The apple pie danish tastes just like the dessert, with a fun, breakfast twist. The cinnamon crumb cake is my favorite! The cake is moisy and crumbly with a thick layer of streusel, finished with powdered sugar. They really know how to balance flavors and sweetness. Great experience overall!
Hiya B.U.M.S! We stopped by this spot and had a wonderful morning. I ordered the breakfast sandwich, and it crack-ed open a burst of flavor from the very first bite. The sausage was juicy, and the egg yolk popped perfectly. While the aioli sauce was a tad on the salty side, the overall sandwich was delicious it literally left flavor all over my mustache! My wife ordered the shakshuka and scrambled right into it with a knife and fork. She broke me off a piece to try, and while nothing specific jumped out at me, I kept hearing her mention how amazing the bread was. In her own words: "A delightful, messy burst of flavor and textures, but the overall dish could have used more tomato sauce--and flatbread is not a sandwich." To drink, we tried the chocolate hazelnut latte, which was sweet, smooth, and pretty tasty. We also finished off our breakfast with a slice of the chocolate hazelnut cake. It was a decent treat that reminded me a bit of a Ferrero Rocher, though a scoop of ice cream on top would have really taken it to the next level (but to be fair, I like ice cream on everything!). The prices were definitely Californian with a side of beachy vibes tax, but the atmosphere was great. To "bum" up this review, we had a toast-ally awesome time and would absolutely come back if we're in the area--next time, we have our eyes on the pizza! Overall: A solid breakfast that made our tummy's dance like my wife when she hears any Bay Area music.
This is a true dining experience, wow! I am so, so glad my friend and I chose Wildland as our catch-up/hang-out dinner venue! I'd heard of its sister restaurant, Campfire; however, I hadn't been to either. This was my first time at Wildland, and it did not disappoint. Where should I start this review? Perhaps the ambiance? It's simply gorgeous inside. Gorgeous! Open spaces, and a beautiful, warm palette of neutrals and soft colors. To me, the atmosphere of my dining experience is so important, and I have no notes here. Well done. We were immediately seated and greeted by the staff. Everyone was so kind and even made conversation with my friend and me. Jorge, the one who made our drinks, even bent my straw into a heart, which was a cute detail I enjoyed. Haha, shout out to Erika, too! Okay, but now onto the food. It was, to make a long story short, delicious, albeit expensive. But you kinda know that beforehand, if you're choosing to dine here. Below is my review of all the items we ordered: Ube Bae Bae: One of the new cocktails offered on the menu! It was a beautiful purple color. It reminded me of a pina colada, which is always a favorite in my book. You can taste the alcohol, but it isn't overpowering. Chunky Dunky: Another one of the new cocktails offered. It supposedly had banana in it, but I couldn't quite make it out. I still enjoyed it, though I wouldn't say I'd reorder this. Sugar Snap Peas: I didn't know snap peas could taste this elevated, haha. The hint of lemon added a nice touch of citrus to the otherwise earthy flavors. It was a nice, light appetizer, and the portions weren't half bad. Wood Fired Cabbage: Definitely my favorite appetizer of the two we tried. This was like a cabbage steak, but absolutely enveloped in cheese! That's still healthy, right? The char was delightful, and I highly recommend this dish. Mafaldine: Wow, loved this pasta dish too! The pasta shape is very fun to eat, and it adds a nice texture. The tomato-morjoram is a nice twist on a regular tomato sauce, and the sundried tomatoes added a nice pop of sweetness. It would only be elevated if it came with some protein. Tiramisu: Please, please get the tiramisu. It was so good, though I'm always biased with tiramisu, haha. The cream was rich, and the espresso flavor prominent. They are incredibly generous with the cocoa powder, too; trust me, we were close to licking it off the plate. Chocolate Hazelnut Cake: Imagine biting into a giant Ferrero Rocher. This is exactly what it tasted like, and I have no complaints here. Very rich, very decadent. So good. Overall, I loved my experience at Wildland! Yes, it's on the pricier side, so maybe I'd reserve this spot for special occasions, but I'd definitely recommend it, and I hope to come back!
Maybe we had high hope since we had been walked through the restaurant when we went to Lilo but the food we tried was not that great. If you are a carb-avore, then go here. We saw french toast that should be called french loaf. All the sandwiches including the BLT had huge serving size of bread and minimal other ingredients. It does have a cool vibe and if we lived closer, we would go there for coffee in the morning and drinks at night
Went here last night to celebrate with my boyfriend. Everything was so amazing. The whole vibe of the restaurant was really cool and our servers were very kind. We started off with the crudo minus the pistachios and I loved it. I was a little curious about the strawberries being on there but they really made the dish so good. My boyfriend loved his pasta and I really loved my lobster casoncelli. I don't like peas at all but I loved them in this! All the dishes looked so good even just on a presentation level. I definitely want to come back here!
This place is improving quite a bit. They now have dinner service with a waiter, bar seats and a faster processing of patrons through their setup. I've been back 4-5 times as of late and everything is pretty good ngl. The breakfast is delish and the dinner is really good. Nice work Wildland Squad
The aesthetics of this place are chefs kiss. The food was delicious but the pizza was THE best part. My friend and I got lemon pie (generally good), strawberry saffron lemonade (wish it had a bit more saffron), cinnamon crumb cake (tasty), and the mushroom and broccolini pizza (WOW 10/10 would recommend getting this). The service was alright. We ended up getting our own napkins and asking for utensils.
What a beautiful restaurant! Had to try due to other yelp great food reviews! Loved the farm to table concept~ sourced locally! The snap peas were yummy! The homemade sourdough was on point. Tried a couple of pizzas and pasta dishes. We were told that food would come out staggered. Pizzas would come first.... And they did. We came at 5 when the restaurant wasn't yet busy. Someone stopped by to box our pizza before all the food came out. I watched food dropped to other tables wondering why it was taking way too long more than 45 minutes... The pasta with sausage never came out... they boxed it and comped it but it was a little too late... Cocktails were pricey. Paid $17 for a coffee martini.... Wanted to try the fishbowl but at $75 I will go get a handle at a third of the price... Bonus dog friendly on outside dirt patio
We came here on a whim as we were close by and we left without a single regret. The food was excellent and our server had fantastic suggestions for food choices. It is beautifully decorated and it is fun to see in to the kitchen. Get the bread! And the cabbage! And the mushroom pizza. Delicious

[Parking]: Street parking only, but apparently there is a parking lot at 2775 State St for transit patrons using the Carlsbad Village Coaster Stop so park there at your own risk. I parked on the street just behind Jeune et Jolie for free. [Ordering]: There was a waiting line on Saturday at 11:15 AM, but the wait was only approximately 5 minutes. [Atmosphere]: Fancy interior decor with a dog-friendly outdoor patio area. [Menu]: Top Yelp highlighted items include the Breakfast Sandwich, Pizza Sandwich, and Smoked Fish Plate. Please note that breakfast items like Breakfast Sandwich and Wood Fired Pizza Sandwich are only served from 8 AM to 1 PM. They serve coffee from Steady State Roasting. *** Breakfast sandwich (Fennel Sausage. Charred Egg. Gribiche Aioli. Hook's Two Year Cheddar. Pain au Lait - $16): The sandwich tasted alright with a runny egg. Pizza: I didn't order it, but I took a bite and it was actually good. *** A solid 3.5-star on food. Based on my order alone, I am not sure it was really worth the extra hassle of finding parking, waiting in line, and paying up for a nice brunch vibe.
I couldn't give five stars because of a few hiccups I experienced, but I'm going to bury the negatives at the bottom of this review. For our first appetizer-type courses, we ordered sliced sourdough with butter and roasted cabbage - both great options. The roasted cabbage ended up being my favorite part of the dinner. It was like a Caesar salad on a juicy, tender cabbage spear with a slight char. I felt like I definitely needed to order some bread to try some element of the bakery. We got another taste of the bakery because we also ordered pizza from the kids menu. I snuck a piece and that was great. We ordered two main courses: one pasta dish and the other was a braised rabbit with morels. The pasta dish was fine but my wife and I weren't planning to share it. We had to share it because the rabbit dish took so long that I had to cancel the order. It was unfortunate because I was really looking forward to that. That was one inconvenience. The other hiccup was they didn't have any beer available because of a cooler issue. They had really good beer on the menu too, so finding that out after I ordered was a let down. I entertained ordering wine or a cocktail afterward but passed. We were sitting by the bar and the cocktails they were making looked really good. With those issues, the manager spoke with us and sent us home with a slice of lemon meringue pie to rectify. We appreciated the gesture and the service we had all night was good. I'm sure this place gets 5/5 stars most nights. It's a super cool place inside and out.
I visited a friend in Carlsbad and we stopped by here - genuinely, everything on their menu looked amazing. My salmon tartine was really good but quite small, and my friend loved her crispy rice bowl. Their pastries and pizza sandwiches also seemed really popular! Gorgeous location and ample street parking on a busy Saturday.
Stunning and open interior with all the modern flare, but overall the food has this falling short of being top tier. Burrata is $14 for two pieces of thick cut, house made toasted bread, with one piece of prosciutto each. The toast was a little burned as well. My hanger steak was cooked to an excellent medium rare temperature, but as a dish, it felt incomplete. Just a protein with a lemony vinaigrette and julienned celery stalk and leaves left me thinking this should be accompanied by something more. My wife's spaghetti and clams (not pictured) were okay, but she said it was a little too spicy. Maybe we'll try this again in a couple months to see how things are going because it's really a nice restaurant. read more

Came for a lunch outing for my birthday and we were able to order and sit down immediately. The space itself is very nice and I really liked the overall ambiance. The quarter bird plate was decent and the accompaniments helped boost the flavor. The nduja pizza was really good and I enjoyed the softness of the crust. The fennel and oregano were nice additional touches that added both a slight texture and herbal bite. The pizza sandwich was interesting. It's essentially a sandwich that uses pizza dough as its bread. Between the mortadella and egg, it has more of a breakfast sandwich flavor-profile which I wasn't necessarily expecting. But the best dish was definitely the Mafaldine! The tomato-marjoram butter sauce was addicting and so flavorful. You get a great unctuousness on the lips and each bite with the tomato was such a nice balance of acid and brightness that was very addicting. And because we mentioned it was my birthday, they were kind enough to provide a complimentary slice of lemon cake as a dessert. read more

Very Small portions. Brought out 3 orders of small slices of bread and charged $9 per bread plate, so be careful with that because they do not inform you of Bread charge. Bread is delicious but almost $30 before you order is expensive. The pizza was cold and the waiter stated it's supposed to be cold. The stools are very uncomfortable. The place is very clean and suburbs are polite. read more
From what I understand, this is a new restaurant in Carlsbad. It's pretty casual with indoor and outdoor seating. Wonderful sandwiches made with the most amazing bread. I had really high expectations and it didn't live upto it Ambience: you can reserve via OpenTable, no fee. But they generally show no/limited slots over weekends. There is free street parking, easy access to patio and toilets. We went in on Saturday at 5 pm and the inside was empty, we asked if we could be seated inside and they said they didn't have any room. The dining room was half empty. We were seated outside according to what we booked but it was so hot and sunny. We checked again and they said they moved some reservations around and were able to seat us inside. We were grateful that they did because it was extremely sunny outside. But with a half empty dining room for the entire period we were there (90-100mins) it felt like they could have done that at the begining. Food: Was mid/average. It's good quality food but it's definitely not the best or great in terms of what we've had at the same price point. We got the margh pizza, sauce good but lacks cheese and bread was mid. We didn't get the bread/butter to start. Green goddess salad was good, we added protein but both chicken and fish felt really bland and not fresh/cold. Tiramisu was super eggy, chocolate cake was decent. Drinks were not good. None of them have any kick/% but are all priced at LA/SD $$. Service: Was good. No complaints. Overall, probably not worth the drive or effort. read more

Glad we stumbled upon Wildland in Carlsbad. The restaurant has a cozy, inviting ambiance (inside)--perfect for a date night! We sat outside this time but will definitely be back to enjoy the charming indoor space. Food-wise, everything we tried was beautifully presented and delicious. The Bread & Butter was a simple yet satisfying start, and the Charred Maitake had a great depth of flavor. The star of the night for me was the Oxtail Rigatoni--rich, comforting, and packed with flavor. The Lemon Bucatini, however, wasn't my favorite; it wasn't bad, just not quite for me and probably wouldn't recommend it. Overall, Wildland delivers on atmosphere and quality ingredients. Our server was really great and had the perfect recommendations, Looking forward to returning for an indoor dining experience next time. read more
Super cute newer spot from the makers of Campfire and Jeune et Jolie. They're kinda taking over all of State St. This spot is kinda an in-between of classy casual. We went for dinner to check them out and I have to say the thing that stood out was the ricotta toast. I know it doesn't sound like much but what they did to that ricotta will blow your mind. The pasta dishes kinda confused me. The lemon pasta was a lot sweeter than I expected since it's Meyer lemons and the ragu was overpowered by the radicchio. I do want to check them out during the day for pastries and coffee! Excited to go back. read more

This place has such a nice vibe. It's spacious, clean, modern, and cute. You order at the counter and get a number for your table. Huge indoor space, including a private room. Outdoor seating also available. The avocado toast had guanciale and was delicious. This was probably the best avocado toast I've ever had. Everything about it was so flavorful. Great texture on the bread. Unfortunately , the shashuka missed the mark. It was too watery and quite one note. The chickpeas were also underdone. Americano was a little acidic. Drip coffee also slightly acidic but not as much as the Americano. The restrooms were nice as they were all individual full bathrooms vs a stall. Sink included in each. Parking could be found on the street or nearby at the train station. Plenty of parking on a Saturday morning around 930am. read more

The space is beautiful - I love all of the natural wood and it's instantly calming. We stopped by on a Monday for lunch and it wasn't too busy. We started with dessert first and had an almond croissant and a chocolate sesame cookie. I don't remember anything specific about the croissant other than it was flaky, but I loved the sesame seeds in the cookie. For our main entrees I had the summer grain bowl with chicken. It had tons of fresh charred veggies and pesto. It was super light and healthy! Portion was somewhat small though. My hubby had the pizza sandwich, which was mostly bread. It looked really good though. This would be a great place to meet for coffee and a snack or do some work! read more

The restaurant is so beautiful. Came here for a galentine. We didn't have reservations. They said 1 hour wait in a Saturday night at 550, but we got dated at 620 pm. They text message you. Make sure to check your phone. We didn't and we noticed at 650 pm that they texted us. The hostess was so nice and they were able to get us a table when they got a cancelation right away. Decor - so pretty! Clean and open and simple. Service - the staff are so nice! Every single one that we encountered was so polite and well communicative. Food - 1) very green salad - too much dressing. Loved the ingredients but wished we either asked for side dressing or wish they put less dressing. It was too rich and too salty. 2) turnip appetizer- it was good and nice to try but I wouldn't order it again 3) ricotta ang pasta - this was my favorite! However they only give you like 7 or 8 pasta noodles. I wish they put more in there. 5) mushroom appetizer- this was good and simple 6) chicken - the sauce was good. The bacon is so good just as recommended. The chicken was tender. Liked the dish. We are ordering all three desserts too. Overall, everything was great! read more
Wildland is a solid a-ok. Order at the register, get a number, choose your table. Plentiful seating indoors. Smaller area outdoors with heat lamps. Self serve water stations with prefilled carafes, coffee accouterments, and extra plates make it easy to get what you need. The aesthetic is mostly wood and has a classy hipster vibe. We tried the pizza sandwich and steak & eggs for brunch. Pizza sandwich was with mortadella, which I learned is a higher quality bologna. Not a fan, but that's personal preference. It was good otherwise. The steak and eggs were tasty. It came with a parsley celery onion salad that was a bit overpowering, but again, just personal preference. Prices are on the higher side, but expected and aligned with the vibe and location. read more

I've tried this place for breakfast twice and loved it both times. The servers are all friendly and accommodating of allergies. I asked about nuts in one of their dishes and the cashier ran to the back to confirm with the chef. The interior is massive, well decorated and very clean. The restrooms were also very clean. I ordered a cappuccino and the pizza sandwich. For a breakfast place, the espresso bar is pretty solid and they use beans from Steady State next door. The pizza sandwich was amazing. It's really heavy for breakfast, but so worth it. read more

This was the second time I have eaten here and everything has been amazing! The staff are super friendly and the interior is so cute. Also highly recommend the salted caramel cheesecake for dessert. Definitely want to come back and try more of the menu. read more

I meant a colleague for lunch who lives in the area and she recommended Wildland. She told me they're the same owners as Campfire which I really love. We came at the end of January so it had only been open for a month or two I think but the menu is typical Carlsbad which is a good thing. Farm to Table fresh ingredients. Huge indoor space as well as nice front patio. Pastries looked at amazing! Staff was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend the chicken soup. I'm still dreaming about the savory lemony hearty yumminess. I had to try the smoked fish plate - you get to pick 3 to 6 different smoked fishes served with delicious crusty bread. She got a green salad which she really loved. And we split the olive oil cake which was light and sweet but not overly sweet. I cannot wait to come back here. read more

Stumbled upon this place and it was super cute and very aesthetic. We came on a weekend towards dinner time, so they were in the process of transitioning into their dinner menu. Because we came a little before dinner we did have the choice to either wait 30 minutes to be seated for "dinner" or order drinks and appetizers before ordering dinner. While waiting we ordered an espresso martini which was good. We then ordered a pizza and pasta and both tasted delicious. they had lots of outdoor and indoor seating which was nice. We'd recommend this place if you're bringing friends from out of town somewhere. They had lots of different options and nice vibes to have dinner with friends. read more
Came here for brunch for a friend with 4 other friends. We heard about this spot but wanted to see if it was worth all the hype we'd been hearing about it. Well, it did not disappoint. There was a long line when we arrived on a Sunday morning but we managed to get a nice table outside. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. Everything was super fresh and delish! After our a morning walk, we had a small breakfast at the newly established brunch spot, Wildland. They open at 0800 and it's perfect for early risers. Fresh open concept dining area and ordering takes place as you walk in and a number is given to your table. Outside patio is very dog friendly and plenty of room to spread out. We tried the Avocado Toast and Breakfast Sandwich. The Avocado Toast was delicious with fresh tomatoes, Guanciale (Italian cured meat), smashed avocado topped with a pasteurized fresh charred egg on a fresh roasted sourdough bread. The Fennel sausage in the Breakfast Sandwich was overly salted so order beware if you are adverse to salt. Charred egg was a nice touch! Bread was devine as they make all breads in house. Food prices have jumped along with all things inflation. Quantity isn't necessarily good quality. So far at Wildland, quality is impressive. Service was good. Mainly self serve in most cases (unless I'm doing it wrong). We went around 11:40 AM on a Friday but it started getting busier around 12:30 PM. All the staff was nice and friendly. Food was good but -1 star just because it is on the pricier end but worth the experience. All the food was presentable and flavorful (mainly seasoned with salt). read more

We loved the vibe of Wildland! You have the option of dining outside at their very open outdoor patio or inside the dining room that screams modern warehouse vibes. Order at the counter where we couldn't help but order almost one of each remaining pastry left. We tried the salad, breakfast sandwich, two of their pastas, and chicken salad sandwich and all were divine. The bread is easily the star of the show. Just perfect consistency with the satisfying crunch but softness that doesn't hurt the roof of your mouth biting into it. We're dreaming about the next time we can go back for some of their amazing pastries. Highly recommend! read more
While the ambiance and service were very good, I'm mostly concerned with the food when reviewing, unfortunately the food did not deliver the flavor we were hoping for. Both pizzas were heavily topped with ingredients, making the delicious dough a wet soggy base, even though the dough should have been a star it ended up being the wet blanket. The asparagus starter was good, and the chicken dish was good, my friend ordered the gluten free pasta and it wasn't anything special. When we like a place we will come back and bring our friends, unfortunately we won't returning! With so many restaurant options you would think that they would perfect small details like heavily topped pizzas and under seasoned food. read more

Yes definitely, outdoor seating would work as a cafe, similar to Lofty down the street. Indoors, there's tons of tables and spaces to use your laptop.
