Went here for a team holiday lunch. It was surprisingly good. We all got a choice of meat and a choice of side. There were 4 of us and only one of us have been here before. So we got different sides so we can all share and try one. Their ceasar salad is really good! The dressing is fresh and flavorful. One of the best ceasar salads I've had. For sides we got the brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes and mushrooms. All are really good and will try again. The bread is a good appetizer. A little heavy for 4 people but good nonetheless. The steaks came out goof. The creme brulee was good as well. We all liked it. Parking is a little tough since it's in downtown so you have to park a couple of blocks away. We were lucky it wasnt a busy time. One benefit is that there are plenty of places to walk around nearby to burn some calories off. It looks like they also have a good selection of alcohol. A Special Night Out at Willard Hicks - With a Few Surprises! We recently made the trek (a solid hour's drive!) to Willard Hicks for a special birthday celebration, thanks to a friend's glowing recommendation. We made a night of it with a romantic overnight couple's getaway, so yes--we had high hopes! The Highlights: The food really delivered where it counts. The 14 oz. NY Strip with onion rings and the Grilled Swordfish were both cooked beautifully. The swordfish came topped with what was called an "apple stick salad," though it leaned more arugula than apple--but tasty nonetheless. The loaded baked potato paired perfectly with the steak, and the tower of jumbo fries with zesty dipping sauces was fun and flavorful. A sweet touch? A complimentary birthday cookie and half-scoop of ice cream alongside our (very shareable) slice of carrot cake. Our server, Taylor was friendly and attentive all evening. A Few Notes to Consider: Willard Hicks runs on an à la carte menu, which is great for groups or sharing--but as a couple, we found it added up quickly and the portions were a bit more than we needed. The Brussels sprouts $11, for example, could easily feed four (and were just okay), while the extra topping of peppercorn sauce for the steak could've used a bit more punch. And while the carrot cake slice $14 was moist and generously portioned, it tasted more like a spice cake (where are the shredded carrots?). Ambiance & Atmosphere: We were seated promptly at 7:30 PM in a comfy booth as requested, and the space filled up nicely after that. That said, we were caught off guard by the nightclub-style DJ music that made conversation a challenge at first--but thankfully, someone must've said something because the noise level mellowed out by cocktail time. We'd love to see a more balanced playlist that fits the evening out vibe (think more dining since there's no dancing), and we might be in the minority here--but the 3 large TVs above the bar showing sports and off-road mud battles felt a little off-theme for a special dinner spot. TVs could be seen by most tables but we didn't notice anyone interested so suggest saving TV sports for happy hours. In a Nutshell: Willard Hicks has solid food, a fun menu, and a lively atmosphere--just know what kind of night you're in for. It's a better bet for groups who can share and sample their generous portions, which were sadly wasteful for us. This place was great! The food was amazing, the service was also amazing. They also have TVs inside showing the game at the bar. I came on a Sunday evening, around 5:45pm. There was still room for last minute reservations so I made one quickly on open table about 30 minutes before we showed up. It wasn't very busy on that Sunday when we showed up. The waiter we had was very attentive to our needs. The ribeye I ordered was amazing, I had it cooked medium rare. The New York steak was also really good. The sides that we ordered that come with the steak was the brussel sprouts and the sizzling mushrooms, both these were great choices as well. We also got the intruder drink and the Market delight. The bourbon taste wasn't too heavy in the intruder, which I liked! The market delight was good too. I came on Father's Day for lunch. I've been in Willert many times before and was excited to return for a great meal. Knowing that it was a special day, Father's Day, I figured it would be best to make reservations, which I did. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was pretty empty so we figured no worries. That should have been the indication of what was to come. We waited over 20 minutes and we were never seen by a server. We watched two other parties sit down after us who were served by the other server. Remind you there were only two servers working that day. The second server came over to the table that was seated after us and said have you guys been helped yet? At which the table responded no and they proceeded to order their meal. It was at that point we decided to leave, we were confronted by a member of the service team asking why we were leaving and we had to explain the situation which he said he understood and had he been a server he would've assisted us. The fact that we were confronted openly and quite loudly by a member of the service team regarding our decision to leave just put the experience over the top. Horrible service at a place I once gave a 5-Star review... and was a repeat guest! I chose WH for an above average dinner w local colleagues, and the lack of service killed our good energy. I arrived early to start it off w a Negroni before my team arrived. All was well. The server was happy and engaged at this point. As the evening progressed, the service deteriorated. Our moody server appeared frustrated, long periods of not seeing him, forgotten items, no teamwork. I also noticed other guests having similar experience with same server. (Maybe the "team" didn't want to save the under-performing coworker, and let him sink???) Yeah yeah yeah, the burger was good, yet funny how bad service can bury the experience of dining and taste of the food. The cherry on top was when I wanted to pay the bill and almost had to beg for someone to take my money. I stood on the patio, looking into the dining area for several minutes, and not one server to be seen. I finally walked up to the host stand and waited for someone in order to pay! WTF!? This review is long overdue since the last 3 visits have not been too memorable- this last visit definitely taking the cake! My guy and I were scrambling over dinner plans and I randomly made the request for WH. Reservations were made via open table and I made a note that indoor seating was preferred & a high chair was needed. Our party of 3 arrived and as I checked in with the hostess, she confirmed my request for a high chair which was appreciated. Dinner: -Street Tacos [3pc: 1steak, 1shrimp, 1ahi tuna] -Pappardelle Pasta -Ginger Ponzu Bone-In Ribeye -Savory Sauteed Green Beans Food: I was legitimately shocked by all of the crispy onion strings used as fillers. The steak is typically loaded with that stuff so I won't hold that against the chefs but the tacos were heavily loaded with onion strings leaving all the other ingredients being skimped. Ginger cilantro lime aioli was the highlight of that dish. The disappointments continued with the green beans being so damn salty. I had to wipe off each piece prior to feeding it to my toddler. The ribeye was extra burnt all along the sides- so much that I couldn't bare the bitterness and gave up on that dish all together. The only thing worth eating IMO was the pasta. Flavors were good, braised short rib was super moist, & my only complaint would be wanting more of the delicious sauce. 2 stars overall. The customer service received from the hostess and our server was good but everything else has been a letdown. Money not well spent!! I had their NOW THIS IS A STEAK BURGER, A one pound patty of the finest 100% certified angus beef, fresh toasted brioche bun, bacon, swiss cheese, onion strings, roasted sweet peppers, horseradish aioli and spicy sriracha ketchup. served with our house cut fries. Well, it was ok at best. I'm glad I tried it but wouldn't order it again. Putting aside it was so big I had to nearly unlock my jaw to take a bite, I didn't even finish a 1/4 of it, The flavor was not dynamic, more mundane and unimaginative despite it's fancy French bun and aioli. Been to this restaurant many times before and loved it. The restaurant was pretty empty so we thought we had a lot of time before the concert we were attending afterwards. We arrived at 5:15 because we had tickets to a 7:30 concert. We ordered at 5:30. Our friends got their salads about 20 minutes after ordering. We got our smashed burger orders at about 6:30 and we left about 7:00 with not much time to drive to the concert, park, and walk to it. The server did not apologize or recognize how long it took to get our food. We all still left a good tip. My husband and I only ordered smashed burgers with other add-ons to them. We asked if we could get a salad instead of fries and was told no, we would have to order a side salad so we ordered the burgers without fries. My husband asked if he could have sliced tomatoes instead and was told he could order it as a side. He ordered the sliced tomatoes and avocado as sides. The 4 tomato slices he got were from a very small tomato (about 1-1/2" round) sliced paper thin ($1) and about 5 avocado slices, which was also very small and sliced so paper thin that they could not be separated ($2). We would have paid more for the sides, for a decent amount. I asked if the sliced jalapeños topping for the burgers were cooked and the server told me yes. They came raw and uncooked. Our friend's smashed burger was so overcooked that it was crunchy and hard so she didn't eat the hard part. We all thought the burgers were very salty. The wait for our food was incredibly long, especially for how empty the place was when we arrived. We were all very disappointed and won't be going back. Fortunately Willard Hicks remains open throughout the day, so we decided to go in; we were already hungry. Upon entering, you get this old world vibe, the interior was cozy, the tall windows made it bright yet the atmosphere was relaxed; perfect for that late lunch or early dinner. To make a long story short, the service was good, and the food was great. My wife ordered the Ahi Poke Bowl, and I got the Now This Is A Steak Burger (yup, that's the name on the menu). It's a one pound beef patty with arugula, crispy onions, and bacon; but what sets it apart from other restaurant burgers is the addition of lightly roasted bell peppers instead of the usual slices of tomatoes. The massive burger comes with huge house cut fries, and small servings of ketchup and aioli on the side; perfect complement to the meal. I didn't attempt to eat the burger by hand because I knew I would make a mess. I know, some of you burger purists may be rolling your eyes, but it was just as well. After all, it was "steak burger." With knife and fork in hand, I dug in and it was burger bliss. I'm always on the lookout for great burgers, and I may have just found a new list topper! The poke bowl was scrumptious, that well-balanced umami freshness perks you up with each nibble. Although we didn't order drinks, I think a nice, cold dark beer would go well with the burger; and for the poke bowl a nice riesling or a gewurztraminer perhaps. I look forward to our next visit. The menu items are varied and the preparations look quite inviting. Parking is easy during early afternoon hours. There's both street parking and a free parking building nearby. This should be the case for all commercial areas, make it easy for customers to come and park free! Pretty sure this makes any area attractive to people. House cut fries- cool presentation but very thick fries, not enough crunch. Aioli was good. Crusted Ahi Carpaccio- pretty good, I don't usually like tuna but not much fishy flavor and tasted fresh! Iron Skillet Pablano Cornbread- moist, liked the jalapeno flavor. A bit too much honey on top, too sweet Scallop Risotto- risotto didn't have too much flavor, very milky flavor. Scallops were a bit salty, and inconsistently cooked as my friend's was overcooked he said Pappardelle pasta- short rib seemed tender and moist but a bit tough when chewing. The 3.3 Star avg baffles me.... not only was the food on point, but the service was amazing and the DJ was spinning the best R&B hits. We went on a Thursday, it was full but not super crowded. The cheesy pesto bread was fire... Brandon, our most awesome server, even cut it up for us because that's how cheesy it was. I'm sorry to report that this place has gone downhill. My wife and I used to frequent this place quite regularly, but after our last two dinners, we won't be returning. Their ribeyes are half fat and gristle. And rather chewy, not exactly what you are paying top dollar for. Our dinners set us back over $150 without tip or wine and to be honest, we've had better steaks at Black Angus for half the price. They also take forever to deliver your meals. The food is pretty expensive, but it's $$$ sign restaurant and we know that before going in. All the items we had were really good, felt like quality ingredients were used. We came in with a reservation for Mother's Day for dinner - NOT worth it! Strike 1: our table wasn't even ready when we came in - not the worst wait, but red flag right away. Strike 2: windy and cooler night (not the restaurants fault of course), but it took us asking 4 different people to turn on the heated lamps. We did wait patiently between each ask - about 10-15 minutes or so. Strike 3: drinks came out ~35 minutes after order was placed, bar was empty when we got there and when we placed the order. Waitress who served it to us was not very nice. Strike 4 (WAY more than *out* if this was baseball): dirty and used utensils/plates were left sitting at the end of our table for well over 45 minutes before they were taken away - even though multiple servers who were helping multiple other tables + us would just stare and walk away. Most, if not all, other restaurants (casual dining, fine dining, or even fast food) would ask or even just remove/take it away? Strike 5: had to go to the hostess booth 3x to even get attention to our table. Not even exaggerating when I say that we had to wait 20+ minutes between each check in from our server. Hard to believe when they would go back to the same 4 other tables within a 5-10 minute time span - they didn't have to ask to be seen because they were always seen. Strike 6: asked for my filet mignon to be medium rare. You'd expect a beautiful bright pink/red center right? Wrong. Gray with the slightest hint of pink in the absolute center of the 8oz. Not to forgot that it was cold when it arrived. Couldn't even take a picture of it because of how genuinely grossed out I was. Like it was GRAY.. Strike 7: waited just about 1 hour before we were served our entrees. *Good to note that a family of 5 was seated literally 5 minutes before us and received wayyy better treatment. Received their waters, drinks, appetizers, entrees, refilled drinks, AND desert BEFORE we even got our entrees. Constantly had waiters asking and checking up on them. Didn't get that treatment whatsoever. Our server was great, when he was with us. Gave great recommendations and had great energy. Just got forgotten throughout dinner which was a huge bummer (Strike 5). Going back to Strike 6, asked to have the filet mignon removed off the bill. Couldn't even take more than 1 bite because of how genuinely disappointed I was in it. And I'm really not one to ever complain or go as far as send anything back, but that's how bad it was. Can't expect me to pay $56 for something I can't even stomach after 1 bite. Spoke to the manager after dinner and he listened to what our complaints were. Apologetic sure, and even gave us a gift card "to come back and receive better service at our next visit". Didn't tell us how much was on the gift card so we called, $50. Wouldn't even cover the $56 filet mignon that had to be removed from the bill. Yes, I am thankful that there was *compensation*(?), but kind of insane considering it can't fully cover the 1 meal on its own. Sure I understand it's Mother's Day - usually more busy than your average day or dinner, but didn't expect it to be that bad nor that low. Let me tell you that was the best baked potato I have ever had! We also got a seared Ahi appetizer that was just out of this world good!! Wifey ordered some kind of braised short rib in pasta. I tried the pasta and it was also amazing. For dessert wifey ordered the Key lime pie which was lacking in flavor, was very underwhelming, I ordered the warm chocolate chip cookies with ice cream. The ice cream was good but the cookies...were warmed up old stale cookies that were hard as a rock!! I told the waiter about my cookies, he asked me why I didn't tell him about them instead of having the busboy pick them up? I told him because he was nowhere to be found. He did offer me another dessert but I refused. They did have a happy hour menu which included a few bucks off drinks have a particular type and a few starters. The decor is elegant and modern. The seats are comfortable - enough to sit on for a good while to enjoy a few rounds with friends. I have heard rave reviews on this restaurant, so I think I set my expectations really high. Although at times the music can be a little loud for easy conversation, but we managed and had a great time.The bar, wine and dinner offerings are very nice. Steak is one of their signature offerings. I was so looking forward to a delicious steak, but that isn't what I received. The flavor of the steak was delish, but the texture of the meat was sub par...lots of gristle making it difficult to chew my steak. Also they didn't bring out salt and pepper to the table and we had to flag down a busboy to get that. I also found the service was a bit haphazard, especially at the end, and trying to get water refills is annoying. Maybe it is harder with the outdoor service but it seems like for what you are paying for food, it should be a little bit better. I found that the coconut crusted shrimp didn't really taste like shrimp or coconut - I'd give that dish a pass. The sides are great (particularly the mushrooms and brussels sprouts) though not as enormous as the menu suggests. I liked how you could get steak tips added to a salad, only $10 for some filet and it really made the salad a meal! read more

Struggled with a serrated steak knife to cut through a quarter inch thick chicken fried steak! After trying and eating a couple bites, I decided to return it and ask them to please not overcook it and what I got back was identical to what I was served in the first place! This is unlike any chicken fried steak you've ever had and I highly recommend against ordering it! On the other hand, my husband had the barbecued ribs and they were perfection. Tried the MH location and was beyond underwhelmed. I decided to try this one since I had an appointment at 3:00pm across the street. Sat at the bar at 2:20pm. Got a glass of water while I looked at the menu. 3 minutes later someone asked if I wanted water. Huh?! I got a Russian river Pinot noir. Great taste. No size choice. I ordered the coconut shrimp. (And 3 minutes later someone asked if I needed to order something) Don't do it! Best part was the mango curry sauce. I ate 1.25 of the shrimp. Yes I at the first one and it was rubber. I had to try a piece of another to make sure it was the entire dish. HORRIBLE. Worse is that they ignored I didn't eat it. Still paid $18 for it. She asked if I wanted a box. This place was a complete joke Walked in to check in and there were four kids who looked like they had no idea what they were doing,the menu was a joke our friends ordered a filet just a very small steak on a plate haha, my swordfish was served cold and was very small the menu on the website was much more expensive than shown on their web page the atmosphere was like being in a little kid bar terrible music way too loud I don't reccomend this p LCN ace to anyone that enjoys a good meal I can cook at home and it blows your food in the weeds you need to focus on quality and service which is what you don't offer to your customers I wouldn't waste my money here ever again it's a rip off read more
