I was so excited to see the bakery down the block from me and didn't know when it would open for dine in. I walked outside this morning and there was a line already at 8:45AM! They opened at 9AM and the line increased and died down towards 10AM. The menus don't have pricing at the moment which makes the $30 breakfast a surprise. I've never been to the Brooklyn locations so I got the BEC scallion pancake ($15), the pork fan tuan ($7) and a regular latte with oatmilk ($5). Definitely forego the regular latte, I'm not partial to black sesame or the specialty flavors but if I were I'd go for those. The BEC is a really decent portion - a bit oily for my tastes and it overwhelmed any of the flavors inside. The Chipotle Mayo (?) sauce it was served with helped a lot. I think I could really enjoy the pork fantuan - don't forget to peel off the plastic wrap! The rice is soft and the pork floss is quite good. It comes with a tasty chili oil! My only gripe is that there was an extremely hard piece of pork on one end that I couldn't chew through and had to shove the whole thing in my mouth to use my molars haha. There is a decent amount of seating, mostly geared towards party of 2s but you can push a table together. It's fast casual but it got a bit awkward bc they basically have you sit in the same order that you ordered in, which for the first day I understand they want to optimize serving as quickly and easily as possible. What I didn't like was that I had to sit next to a couple that had just very obviously came from a run and not to be rude, had an odor. There was other seats that opened up as the pace of customers eating outpaced the order being served, but it didn't feel like I could move. Pretty delicious. I'm Taiwanese- it's a fusion cafe but the flavors are authentic. Got cold brew and a rice roll with tofu. The tofu reminded me of the braised tofu my mom used to make. The Taiwanese fan tuan was so yummy! taste exactly like Vietnamese xoi lap suong. it has pork floss, eggs, and I think chinese sausages rolled in sticky rice. This place is pretty viral online, so I was really excited to try it out. Unfortunately, it came in way below my expectations. The inside of the bakery is cute with a good amount of seating. There was no line when I arrived on a Thursday around noon, so I ordered right away. However, it took me a long time to get my food, and several customers that came in after me got their food before me. When my bacon, egg, and cheese scallion pancake finally arrived, I was disappointed. Firstly, the scallion pancake was slightly soggy rather than crispy like I would have expected. Due to the floppiness, the sandwich started to fall apart. The best part of the sandwich was the dipping sauce that came on the side. Without the sauce, the sandwich wasn't very flavorful. Checked out the new location of this bakery in the East Village after being a regular at their original Williamsburg shop. The new spot has the same cool menu, but I think the Williamsburg location edges out a bit in execution. Tried the Millet Mochi Donut here, which is definitely the standout--unique texture and really different from your typical mochi donut. The Red Rice donut is a staple I've had before; good, but not as memorable as the millet one and doesn't stand out much compared to other donuts in NYC. My favorite bakery item has to be the Pine Nut Sun Cookie. Even though it's not mind-blowing at first bite, I honestly just keep reaching for it and snacking without even realizing as I chat--kind of addictive! The vanilla cream bun, however, was underwhelming. Prices are on the higher side, but that feels fair given the creative flavors and limited options for this style of bakery in the city. Popular in Brooklyn and seems to be picking up in the East Village, too. But as someone who has had a lot of mochi donuts in Asia, I'd say this donut is just ok. I stopped by Win Son Bakery today after my Pilates class and didn't realize what a treat I was in for. I ordered the bacon, egg, and cheese on a scallion pancake and it was incredible. It came with this really delicious dipping sauce--I honestly wish I could buy a whole tub of it. The staff was very kind and gave great recommendations based on things we said we usually enjoy. My friend ordered the Caesar salad and the fried chicken on top was perfectly flavored and unbelievably crispy. We also shared some pastries, and the chocolate chip toffee cookie was absolutely delicious. There was a line, but I think that's just a testament to how good the food is. Even though it looked long, it moved really quickly and we were able to find seating within about 10 minutes. Everything was clean and the space is decorated really cute. If you're going during the week, it might be nice to just grab a coffee when it's a little less crowded--but it's definitely worth the visit read more

There is seating, but you need to order and get a number before you can find a table. We ordered take out. Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Scallion Pancake ($16) - I thought this was okay. I wish there was a more prominent scallion pancake flavor, but that sauce they pair it with is delicious! San Beiji Choppd Cheese Scallion Pancake ($21) - This one comes with fries and similarly I couldn't taste enough of the scallion pancake flavor. However, the chopped cheese was so good. Pork Fan Tuan ($7) -- I enjoyed the different textures of the fan tuan. Stickiness of the rice, flaky savory pork floss, and crispiness of the Chinese fried doughnut. Lu Rou Bao $11) - The exterior was like a croquette and there was a good amount of filling the somewhat justify the price. My partner enjoyed this more than I did. I think the filling was a little too mild in flavor and I just prefer the traditional Lu Rou over rice. Win Son caught my eyes on insta a few years ago, and I'm so glad I remembered they had opened a Manhattan location when I was near Union Square. I really liked their sun filled, open, and natural feeling space. Service was wonderful--order at the counter and plop down where you'd like. Plenty of space inside + they have a small sitting area outside as well. Their entrance is accessible. I thought I would order the bacon egg and cheese scallion pancake I had been salivating over social media for years, but as it was evening time, I decided I wanted something less breakfast. After asking for recs at the register, I went with the "xia" (shrimp) scallion pancake. And man oh man, that thing was HEARTY and plump. I had been warned. It was packed to the brim with shrimp and complemented nicely by the havarti cheese and notes of ginger. Crispy shell, warm, 10/10 comforting. Please note the menu says "deluxe" and so I assumed it may have been accompanied by the fries I was seeing on some plates. It was not. For $19 you get a massive scallion pancake that's perfect for sharing with another shrimp lover. I felt like a champ eating about 75% of it. That said, I would have loved something to go along with it. There was sooo much shrimp in there, that something light, like a salad, would have broken up the monotonous bite a bit and made the dish feel less heavy. Baked good looked well crafted. Selection wasn't huge at the time I went (after 7p) but not getting the last toffee chocolate chip cookie still haunts me and I want to go back for it. Also want to try their drinks. So glad that they opened a permanent location in Manhattan! The jiu cai chives scallion pancake is by far my favorite item on the menu so far. The hype is all around the BEC but yall are sleeping on this savory gem!! The chives and vermicelli are well-seasoned in a soy-base sauces and it actually works with the melty havarti cheese! The scallion pancake is able to soak up all the sauce and pack all the flavors together. I also got to try their shrimp burger. While the shrimp patty featured fresh and juicy shrimp, I felt like the burger itself lacked a "central" flavor profile. The mayo-base sauce temporized the tartness from the pickled veggies. I wish I had some extra chili oil to add another layer. The sanbeiji chop'd cheese reminded me of the three cup chicken I grew up eating, but I wasn't expecting minced chicken (even though it was in the name lol). The chicken bits were on the drier side for me so I wished there was some extra sauce. Loved the basil leaves and spices tho! The space itself is cute with a good amount of seating and natural lighting. I appreciated how the menu was very clearly displayed and how food came out at a reasonable time. This is the only place I've ever had a fried egg added on Fantuan, which already makes it stand out. The scallion pancake with shrimp patty was pretty good--crispy, savory, and well balanced. My order was takeout but the two people after me got a table which makes no sense. What if I want the option to wait and get a table?
