It gives off a casual and uplifting vibe with the bright sunlight shining through the windows. There are a few seats and tables, so it may be hard to find a seat right away being it is very busy. Ambiance rate: 6.5/10. My boyfriend and I ordered... 1. BEC Scallion Pancake: This dish had good flavor and a generous amount of bacon. The scallion pancake was also very soft and delicious. Rate 8/10. 2. Jiucai Scallion Pancake: This dish was extremely tasty and had an exquisite flavor! All the ingredients mixed well together in this pancake. With all the fillings, the pancake was messy to eat being it didn't stay put together too well. Rate 9.5/10. 3. Fan Tuan w/ Pork: This small bite was amazing! The pork had a wonderful taste, and was super crunchy. Plus, the egg and rice was wrapped very well, making it easy to eat! Rate 10/10. 5. Big Chicken Box: This box contained 3 pieces of chicken and fries. The chicken was generously doused in a delicious sauce (imperial glaze). It was also perfectly cooked: crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The Five Spice + Cayenne Fries had a great, spicy flavor to it. Although it could've been crispier, they were still good. Came in on a rainy day for a light lunch since there was no line. I usually see a line out the store. There was a short line at the register when I walked in but moved fairly quick. There is a sign to order before seating. I wasn't too hungry so got the fan tuan. You can either order with tofu or pork floss. The cashier then rings you up and gives you a number placard where you can go seat yourself. Water and food are bought to your table. The fan tuan was good, the crueller was crispy. I loved that they had egg inside which I've not seen before. Very tasty. Seating was packed but turns around pretty quick. They have a large menu for drinks, such as tea and coffee. I didn't try any but they all sounded very good. I came here to try the scallion pancake, and was slightly disappointed in how oily the dish was. It was slightly off putting, but still tasty. at $16, the dish was huge and definitely packed with egg and bacon. Didn't have much flavor, but was good paired with the pink sauce they provide. That being said, the scallion BEC pancake/sandwich is a wonderful experience that will inspire you to make it at home because of how nice the texture and flavor combination is. This place has great food and drink, and a really cool theme. My only complaint--I came in on a weekday morning, and they were truly BLASTING music. Which is odd, because 6/10 customers seated had noise canceling headphones on, and were trying to read or journal. I noticed the restaurant's offerings via articles and IG. The stir fried chunks of rolled rice noodles (only offered at this location) are soft and chewy. The thin stands of glass noodles (pretty sure), onions, and chives added interesting textures. It was a little salty for some bites. The shrimp is in the form of shrimp cakes, cut and panfried. The Shrimp sandwich was yummy and didn't disappoint. The milk bun was soft and yeasted but also had an English toast/ hamburger bun-like "crust", so it didn't fall apart when you cut into it or took a bite. The shrimp patty was like a thick flattened fried shrimp ball with tender yet solid chunks of shrimp. The "slaw" looked a little bland as it only had thinly sliced lettuce and peppers, but the lightness of the dressing actually suited the flavors. I definitely recommend it. The fries were lightly crispy and had a different seasoning. Some weren't very hot after eating the other food. The salad probably would have been a good side since they sell the different dressings. The Oolong Ice Cream Sundae (special) was cute and small. It had plump dark cherry slices mixed into the ice cream and had a scattering of candied peanuts, whip cream and small crumbles of castella cake around it. There is (1) unisex restroom, which is clean and air conditioned. The bakery items sounded interesting, but we had already ordered a lot. There is a good amount of seating (bench and chair). The staff were nice and helpful when asking about merchandise and soap refilling. I did ask for a bowl to share the ice cream but was only offered the option of the tray, which didn't make sense. The staff was friendly, although I didn't like ordering at the counter, having the food brought to us at the table, and being asked to tip prior to any service. My party was 3rd in line to order and the line was not that long, but the restaurant was fairly busy and not a lot of tables were available. So naturally, as I see a table open up, I go to sit down while my friend waits in line to order for us. A few minutes later one of the servers goes up to me and says "You should only sit down at a table if you have a number and have ordered already." Gave me the meanest look up & down, and then walked away. I understand why she said this, and would've totally gotten up and complied if it weren't for the way she said it to me. (I can understand NY bluntness, but this was just snooty & rude... go to LA & do that). Strong 4 stars. I am happy that Win Son opened a location in the city near my job because Williamsburg is inconvenient for me, but the food is so original and tasty, it made the trip worth it. Hooray for milk buns and scallion pancakes whenever I want! I've tried a number of items on the menu, and some are amazing and others are good. I didn't love the lurou bao because the meat had a curry spice to it, which I wasn't expecting. The outside croquette was excellent, however. I thought the fried dough inside the fantuan was a tad too crunchy, but it was one of my favorites, regardless. The milk bun is fantastic-- the bread is so good that I would go back to try a smashburger, which I originally thought might be too boring. The mochi donut had great texture, but a word of caution, it's quite filling. I love their sesame latte, not too sweet. Prices are pretty high, and service is perfectly fine. EDIT: the Win Son Bakery team responded pretty quickly when I tagged them on socials about the issue I initially posted below. They were actually very kind and rather quick about it (responded same day). They moved just as fast during the refund process (issued it within the same hour I filed my info on a claim). Of course ideally the mix up wouldn't happen in the first place but their customer service was pretty great after the fact. -- I've gone to this place a few times and the food is always good and service is usually great but today I had a small off experience. I had gotten up to grab a to go box for the rest of my food. I had maybe been gone literally like 40 seconds and when I came back someone had thrown all the food out. I suppose I could have asked the girls next to me to watch it just in case but I felt like there was a decent amount of food left and one item I wasn't even really touched (I took one bite of it) and it was thrown out. I think what bothered me the most though was the server who threw it out realized when I was standing there with a new to go box kind of confused and bummed and there wasn't really an acknowledgement that it was a mistake. He just kind of said "oh I'll take that," grabbed my box, and threw that out too.... weird encounter and wasn't really pleasant. I'm bummed because I paid full price for a food item I didn't get to really eat and wanted to save for later and it ended up in the garbage. read more

The food was good (sometimes with a slightly American twist), but really no better than the food in Chinatown 10 blocks down, at 2-3x the price you would pay otherwise. Popular for a reason! I don't normally seek out viral restaurants or experiences, but a friend was in town and wanted to go. The line was long, but moved quickly. We even got a table shortly after we ordered. Staff was shockingly nice, considering how swamped they were. After you order, there's a separate queue for a table which made the process quite organized. The staff was pretty friendly and I loved the aesthetic of the bakery - there's a decent amount of seats but it's busy. I thought the food was pretty good but nothing to rave about. The scallion pancakes were on the oilier side for me but I loved the attempt at this fusion. The soybean milk was just alright I think the traditional restaurants do it better. But the best item we got was the donut. I got the seasonal one and it filled with a red bean mochi with strawberries on top. Although it also ran a tad sweet, I think the flavors were quite unique.
