Window Nation (Baltimore area) came out to provide a quote for the replacement of 11 windows at my home. (They were one of several companies I worked with). I had read reviews from numerous sites and pretty much knew what to expect with Window Nation. However, I saw so many positive reviews, mixed in with the negative reviews, I really wanted to see what the experience might be. Scheduling was easy... Really easy. I had already known about the issues others had with the "we require your spouse to be there during the visit". They did mention that, but I was able to easily confirm that my spouse did not need to be there. The sales pitch... I got most of my technical information from the first company that came out -- which aligned 100% with the extensive research I had already done on windows from unbiased resources. So, I wasn't really looking to Window Nation to provide technical information. I glazed through the spiel - but it was as sales pitchy and high-level as you can get. The window they used as a sample was beat up. I'm sure it gets banged around while on travelling sales calls... but I would think it would be refreshed every so often as to present the best sample of what your company offers. The salesperson was also wish-washy in explaining WHO actually installs the windows and what kind of accountability/reputation there is -- I believe they explained it that Window Nation is only the sale arm -- and Vytex supplies the installers (not Vytex employees, but 3rd parties). I didn't, personally, like that. I'd rather work directly with a company that has their own W-2'd installers (or, at the very least, a dedicated consistent contractor crew). It seems like Window Nation has their own private line of Vytex (or their own re-brand) windows -- because the model they proposed was not one of Vytex's commercially available models. With that said, I asked the sales person how Window Nation's proposed model stacked against the Vytex Fortis (the model I had already researched and had been proposed by others). "Oh, the Fortis is a better window. But it's much more expensive." There was no high-pressure sales. They didn't ask for a signature or provide any counter-offers. I think the person realized I had already done my research and had ZERO intention of signing ANYTHING on the spot. So, they just presented the proposal and left it at that. The proposal. For 11 windows. ~$18,000. I was floored. The salesperson didn't flinch. They lamented that was just the going rate for the windows and the job. I told the salesperson I already had an idea on pricing and had proposals and they were no where near this quote. They grasped for some more information. I told them they were 3-4 times more expensive than the next quote. They said that Window Nation's windows were going to be a better window. I then told them I had already been quoted prices 3-4 times less... for the Vytex Fortis window -- the window that, 20 minutes prior, the salesperson had clearly volunteered was a better window and would be more expensive. Opps. The conversation ended. The sales person asked to use my restroom; sure, no problem, you're on the road and maybe you don't know the nearest public restroom. They did so... didn't wash their hands... and left the toilet seat up. I mean, c'mon. The next day, I received an unsolicited new email quote. ~$8,000. I don't know if that's standard practice.. or if the sales person relayed to the main office that he lost this sale. I did follow up with the office to inquire about how the price dropped so significantly overnight. I couldn't understand how a professional window estimator could be off by $10,000 and not even recognize something seemed high. The Window Nation office explained that the $18,000 price was the retail price and they were offering a BOGO sale which brought the price down to ~$8,000. The retail price of an installed mid-level window is not $1,600 each. It just isn't. $8,000 was also well above the next quote - and Window Nation didn't offer any compelling reason why to chose them over the next quote - especially considering they were offering an admittedly inferior window! Also, why wouldn't the sales person mention the BOGO SALE while in my home when he realized he was losing? Instead, he just walked away. Because this is what companies like this do all the time. I don't play games like this. Window Nation could have come in $1,000 less expensive than the next company, and based on this experience, I still would not have chosen them. What company to you know that the employee does not give you their last name when calling with an issue! Well that would be Window Nation! We have been going around for months now trying to get a response on our damage caused by a leaking window. We paid $150 to have a technician come out after the installation, and he reported the window was not sealed properly. After numerous calls they sent out a "manager" and he took photos and tested the widow to make sure what the first tech was holding up. He told us that an insurance adjuster would be out to asses the damage. Well every week I call and every week I get the same runaround "we contacted them( whomever them are)! I supposedly got the someone in corporate today and after being transferred around I guy came on and ask what we wanted! After going through the whole story again ...he said he would have to get back to us! When ask for a name he said he only gives out his first name...I said what! I would never recommend window nation to my friends who need windows. The best installers in the world but the company sucks

I replaced 37 windows in my house and used Window Nation. The original installation went well and I had no problems. It has been over 10 years and several window seals have failed. I first called in August. Customer service was apparently busy and I was told they would call right back. Over the next month, this was the case for a total of 7 calls to Katlyn in customer service with no call backs. They eventually sent out an inspector that apparently didn't submit the problem windows. They didn't bother to call to let me know. That was 8 weeks lost. They had to reschedule another inspector to come out. He apparently didn't submit a code for one of the windows. They didn't bother to call to let me know. I had to find the code and send it to them after several calls of them lying to me about what the problem was and also ignoring my calls. They first tried to blame it on COVID, then a backorder on my windows. It turns out the problem was they never put the order in for the windows. I had to speak to 3 different people to find that out. Another 6 weeks lost. I asked to speak to a higher up. This person, Daryl, was very apologetic and promised to personally follow through the process until it was complete. He also told me he would be refunding me the $150 inspection fee. I have not seen that in the 4 weeks since he promised that. He said windows would be ready in 2-3 weeks. NOPE. Another 4 weeks have gone by and they are not getting back to me. It has been over 17 weeks with no end in sight and they originally told me 2-3 weeks. Be very aware of their customer service, if you can call it that. I have never seen a customer service dept repeatedly ignore a customer's calls. I have emailed the CEO several times and have not received any response. They don't seem to care. read more

Worst company ever! I paid them $6000 to install windows. They told me to move all items 3 ft from the window. I purchased sliders and my family members measured 3ft and moved all items. They workers came and decided to move my furniture even more without my permission or sliders. This left scratches on my newly installed hardwood floors. Window Nation offered $100 to pay for the damage. My neighbor told me that the company also damaged her property and refused to pay. zéro stars if i could. read more

Buyers should be forewarned that Window Nation does not produce their own windows but has some type of business relationship with Vytex Windows whereby Vytex makes the windows and, to further complicate, Vytex uses contractors to install the windows. Why does this matter? Because when something goes wrong, it becomes seemingly impossible to get someone to fix the problem. I spent several thousand dollars to replace 14 windows. Five months later, one window will not properly latch and lock. For the last 3 weeks I have tried unsuccessfully to get someone to repair the window. The response from Window Nation is, "We have contacted the contractor (Vytex)." The response from Vytex has been absolutely nothing, it is as if they do not exist. Additionally, it took 6 months from the date of purchase to the actual install date. The installation was problematic and, again, this appears to be the product of poor communication between Window Nation and Vytex. My installation date was mismanage, the installers rushed through the walk through, and ignored that they had left hand smudges on the exterior of several 2nd and 3rd story windows. Lastly, after completing a review of my experience with the company, the sales representative sent me an email asking if I would give him a better review. I have since filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. In the meantime, I encourage buyers to carefully consider using this company. I know I will never use them again. read more

I got an estimate from Window Nation, and the presentation was thorough, and the salesman appeared thorough. I was thinking about signing for 11 windows, but decided to read through some Yelp reviews first. After reading so many mediocre-subpar reviews, I emailed my consultant this: "I am currently doing my reasearch to make sure that Window Nation is the right choice for my home. I will say, out of everyone I have seen, I believe that you had the best and most thorough presentation by far. However, I will say that there are a lot of very negative recent reviews on Yelp. https://www.yelp.com/biz/window-nation-glen-burnie?sort_by=date_desc. These reviews do not seem to match the reviews seen on Houzz or Google, etc. After seeing these Yelp reviews, understandably, I am hesitant to spend over $10,000. What can you and the company do to guaruntee a happy customer the first time around?" The respons from the salesman was "$10,000 is a very low price for the quality product that we sell. I asked my managers and they said they will give you the project for $10,000 if you write 2 good reviews online. We are working on getting our ratings up online. Let me know asap." So, while we chose not work with this company, they may do fine work. Hello, Sorry, this is going to be long... I would have to say my experience with Window Nation has been very disappointing. My experience started with my sales representative. He was professional and nice when he came to my home, but I wasn't provided with the right information regarding the services Window Nations could provide me. I was promised custom windows identical to my current windows (I live in a condo, so all windows must be identical to all other units). Window Nation did not deliver on that promise. Their windows are only custom using certain materials and styles. My sales rep and I discussed having 8 windows replaced, and that the new windows should look exactly like my current windows, and I was ensured they would be. We then discussed my need for 9 grids in each window panel (like my current windows), and I was told that wasn't a problem. We went through my order, I applied for financing, was approved, and then gave my $500 dollar cash deposit. Next, another gentleman came out about 2 weeks later to do my final measurements. I can say Window Nations customer service team is very nice and professional, and so was the gentleman that did my final measurements, but my paperwork was incorrect. The paperwork stated, "No grids", which I stressed was a necessity to meet my HOA requirements. So, the gentleman made a note in the system stating I needed "9 grids per window panel", okay "everything is good to go" so I though. Then we come to the date of the install about 4 or 6 weeks later. The install team were very nice and professional as well. They had a hard time removing the first window, which they broke while removing it, but they continued with the install...When they started installing the first new window, I notice the window had grids, but there were only 6 grids, not 9 like I had requested. So, the install team called their manager and I was informed that after they finished the installing all the window, Window Nation would come back out and replace the glass. "Okay, no worries" I thought. But as they were installing the first new window, I noticed it wasn't fitting the same as my other windows (even one of the installers said it didn't look good). So, I told the installation team to stop so I could take pictures and call my property manager for confirmation. My property manager immediately told me to stop everything and that the window didn't meet HOA specifications. So, the installation team packed up everything and left. The same day of the install, I had a Window Nation staff member come to my home to see if I was happy with the service, unfortunately I can't remember her name. She was African-American with short hair, she wore glasses, and was very nice. I told her about my experience and that my windows were not manufactured correctly, and didn't have the correct frame or number of grids. She took some photos, then told me I would be contacted by the company. I had another gentleman come out about 2 weeks later to do more measurements; he was very professional as well. I was told that they were going to assess my situation and get back to me to see what they could do. I've been calling and e-mailing my "case worker" Christina Habighurst since August 28, 2018 for updates, and I have yet to hear from her. I've left countless messages for her to please contact me and I'm being avoided. Between Sept. 5-9, I finally got in contact with another case worker (I believe her name is Tory), she finally told me they were not going to be able to complete the job and that I would receive my refund of $500. Today is September 11, 2018, and I received a call from Steve Brown (Sales Manager). He was very pleasant, professional, and apologetic for my negative experience. He has taken full responsibility for what happened and has ensured me my fund will be processed and to me within a week; which is acceptable to me. I will provide an update at a later time... Update: Sept. 17th I received my refund check, it was post dated September 12th the day after my conversation with Mr. Brown. I can say Mr. Brown resolved my refund issue quickly and Im a professional manner; I'm grateful for that. read more

We would give more stars but we have been trying to resolve issues since 8/18. At that time, Window Nation installed 6 new shutters, 7 windows, siding, gutters, downspouts, front door, and storm door. We were very happy with the installation - the team was courteous, prompt, knowledgeable, and cleaned up after themselves. No problems with scheduling, everything went smoothly. The only problem was the storm door. We were misled on the style. We wanted what we were calling a "self-storing" door, where the screen rolls up into the door. We showed the sales rep that we wanted the same door that we had. No problem. However, after the crew left we discovered it was far from what we wanted. It was a full screen and only the lower window can be raised. We can't even clean the outside of the upper window! Right away we emailed the sales rep. After a few weeks of going back and forth, he tells us WN does not sell that type of storm door anymore and that he misunderstood what we wanted because of what we were calling it. It doesn't matter what we called it, we showed and explained to him exactly what we wanted. We finally got to a point where they would replace it with a different style. Then winter came and went and spring came and went. Still stuck with this door we can't stand. In May we finally started getting some response from customer service. Then nothing. It stopped cold. So on 6/23/2019, my husband I wrote an email to the president. 2 days later we got a call from Corey. She informed me that Cindy, who was handling our case was no longer with the company. Didn't anyone take over her files??? Anyway, I explained everything to Corey, they'll get back to us. My husband called back on 6/28 and explained it all over again to Brittany. They'll get back to us. This afternoon, 7/1, my husband called and had to explain it all again to another woman. They'll get back to us. That seems to be their pat answer. This should all be on file? Why do we have to continue wasting our time, and theirs, when it should all be in a file. When my husband called today, they had the audacity to say they spoke to me this morning. That never happened. We'll pay for the labor, we just wanted them to remove the door. If they had done it right away, they could have sold the door. However now, it's no longer "like new." Unfortunately, that isn't the only issue. We also purchased a patio door from WN at the same time we bought everything else. To get this door in, a window needs to be knocked out as well as some walling. WN doesn't do the carpentry which we understood when we signed the contract. In October, 2018 we had a new deck installed and were anxious to get the door installed. We had a little trouble aligning WN with a contractor then it got too cold. Spring came and we decided to go with a different style door and just buy a door from the same company who will install it. The door we ordered from WN was in stock, not special ordered. All they need to do is take it off our bill. A door was never unwrapped, it's in stock, no biggie....so one would think. So now we have 2 things - the storm door and take the patio door off our bill. 3rd - when they installed the storm door, they had to take the pediment down. However, when they put it back up, they put it up crooked. That needs to be corrected. 4th - one of the screen has a hole in it. I've been told that's under warranty and is no problem to replace. So, in the past 6 weeks we have explained all of this to at least 5 people, 4 in the past 8 days, including the president/owner. Last summer, we would have given them 5 stars but now it has dwindled down to one. Very poor customer service. read more

5/24/2018 recently wrote and still waiting for a reply as of 6/4/2018 Customer service calls were amazing, Mr. Alan who was came out and did a wonderful presentation, but then the installers came to my home looking like they did not work with a company at all like it was a regular saturday hanging in the yard work type of day, regular clothes but the attitude from one made me so uncomfortable that I had to keep an eye on him, the window installation time was 8-11 well of course they showed at 10:30am which means that they did not leave my home until close to 10:00pm and they rushed you can tell one of the windows is sitting at an angle, the rain was pouring at 9:30pm so there was not point checklist, no walk through and I had to literally run outside in the pouring rain to ask how to operate the windows (just a simple open and close) so I had a follow up phone call and expressed how I felt, of course in this case the customer is wrong (yes they said the window wasn't like that when they left and they are not responsible for cleaning up any caulk that was missing from a few windows) so I as the customer is wrong, I asked numerous time for a walk through since I never had one and since the weather was an issue on that night. I was told that someone would be in touch......that was over 2 weeks ago. I'm not arguing with anyone on how they do their business but if there is a problem then we must find a solution or else I will leave reviews with photos to show that there is a problem unsolved. Thank you for my beautiful windows but I knew in my gut that this was too good to be true. I purchased 10 windows which were not cheap but since 1 or 2 are not right I'm completely being ignored and told that I the customer is wrong. You hear of so many window companies advertisements on the tv and radio. And I'm not one to ever post anything , but felt it was worth it this time. Window Nation was as professional as they come. The communication from start to finish was on point. Delivered everything as promised and within the time frame set. My wife and I only did the windows in the back of the house for now. But I will not call anyone other than Window Nation when it's time to do the front of the house. It's hard to fine good contractors, but this is one I truly recommend. We recently replaced 9 windows and 3 large patio doors in our home. We sought bids from 3 contractors and Window Nation came in with the best combination of product and price. Every aspect of the process was satisfactory. The sales rep arrived on schedule and provided the final cost estimate at the end of the session. The windows were ordered and the installation was scheduled within 3 weeks. The installers arrived on time each day and kept us informed as to what would be done each day (job required 2.5 days of work). During installation, one of the installers noticed that one of the frames on one of the new windows was damaged and scheduled an immediate no-cost replacement (I would not have even noticed the slight defect had the installer not pointed it out). The replacement window for the defective unit arrived and was installed within 10 days. I withheld a final payment until that replacement was installed and Window Nation was perfectly fine with that. All work was done professionally, the windows and doors were installed well (and have been working great so far). The clean up was extremely thorough - there was literally no extra clean up we had to do after the installers left. I see many negative reviews about WN on yelp but I must say that was not our experience. Schedules were adhered to, work was done on schedule, all products we wanted were available, the final price was what we had agreed to, and the installation was professional and well done. Regarding the bit some have complained about regarding sales discounts presented which ultimately drop costs by 50%, yeah every window company does that so it's the one game all play. You just have to be prepared for that. read more

I had windows 11 installed a little over 2 years ago. From the day they day they were "professionally" installed - there have been problems. While being installed, the company cut my siding - never repairing it. The company left all of the OLD aluminium from the previous windows underneath the new aluminum. I have made complaints to Window Nation, but they have never come out to correct the damages done by their installers. Since the windows were installed they have gotten worse. There is still cosmetic damage to the siding. The windows leak. They are drafty and are NOT as structurally sound as the DEMO windows I looked at. It is obvious that I didn't get what I purchased. DO NOT BUY FROM WINDOW NATION - UNLESS YOU WANT DRAFTY WINDOWS AND HOLEY SIDING!!!!! read more

I contracted with Window Nation to replace seven windows. All went smoothly until installation day where a "communication breakdown" occurred. I was pretty furious that the installers showed up earlier than expected and that the installation date had not been properly confirmed the day before. Boy, did they know how to calm an irate customer. I really felt that my job, albeit on the small side, became their most important project. I had a problem, they fixed it. End of story. I give a lot of credit to my project manager, Steve, who did everything in his power to make sure my job was done properly and that I was happy. The installation of my windows was great! Installers were very professional and courteous. They left nary a nail behind. My new windows look great and there's a huge environmental difference in the rooms with new windows. 3/27/2019 We purchased our first set of six windows in November 2016, the crew arrived on time and professional. Then in October 2017 ordered two fiberglass doors and four more windows, again arrived on time installed, cleaned up, very pleased again. This year on March 14th ordered and installed last phase of six more windows. We have sliders and double hung all work as should, all crews cleaned before leaving, I will use Window Nation again should I need more windows. Very very poor customer service, two hours late for installation, I got my windows installed on a Sunday and was not able to reach anyone in customer service to call to inquire about where the technician was if they were even still coming, once arrived he was nasty and told me he arrived before 4pm so therefor he wasn't late and I couldn't complain, just nasty, even before my appointment I had a hard time reaching people I would leave messages after message and send emails after emails even to the owners and never got a response. The marketing person that came to my house I later received a call he had COVID and I should be tested. Overall I just had a HORRIBLE experience!!!!!!!! read more

Window Nation recently replaced the windows on the second floor, after having completed the first floor windows a few months ago. Frankly, I have no idea how they accomplished so much on that day. It was one of the hottest days this summer. They worked, non-stop, for the entire day. Absolutely no shortcuts were taken to enable them to leave early. I asked them several times if they were okay, and how they were able to work in that awful heat. Their reply was that they were fine, they were accustomed to working in any weather. The installations both times appeared flawless. They made sure everything on the inside and outside was cleaned up before they left. When they're working, they do not stop to eat. They had adequate water, and other drinks from me. I suppose that was more important. But I must say, those installers are among the hardest working people I have had at my house. read more

After NUMEROUS phone calls and being put on hold for 20 minutes only to having the call disconnected every single time, I still haven't received a call from the service dept. Its been 3 weeks since I made the initial call to report an issue with one of the windows they installed last year and nothing has been resolved or even scheduled to be resolved. The installer team does good work and clean up really well. Be alert and ask questions and be there to see the work. The sales pitch is never what you get. Know your contract and warranty. Know your terms such as full pull out of window casing. Do not let them keep rotten wood in the casing and say we can save it no air or moisture will get in, we can keep it from getting further damage. Rotten wood is rotten wood and will keep spreading. The installer is just a contractor and will refer you back to the company. You go in circles trying to resolve things and will end up in mediation or arbritration. read more

Window Nation replaced our windows and siding. The sales man who we had sold us on replacing everything at a great cost and assured us that we could have the windows and siding installed over summer (since I would be on maternity leave and didn't want the hefty payments until back at work). Also, we couldn't decide between 2 blues and he said that it was okay since the siding people come out for an accurate measurement and come with color samples so we could confirm the color with them. Come February we got a call from the window people saying that they were going to be installing them Monday morning. Which wasn't correct we scheduled it to be done in June. They apologized and said they would look into it. Monday morning the window people call and ask where we were so they could install the windows. After the window installation we got a call from the siding people saying they were going to drop off the siding and where would we like it to be left. We said that the siding wasn't supposed to be done for a few months and we didn't understand why they would be dropping it off so soon and we never verified the color with them. Well they dropped off the siding in a color we didn't particularly like and they told us that if we wanted to change it we would have to buy all new siding. So were stuck in a house with a color we don't care for.. awesome. And they siding people didn't order enough siding due to them not measuring correctly... so we had a half sided house for a few weeks. Also, the sales rep told us that we would have the existing siding removed and the new siding put on... Wrong they just go over top of what the existing siding was. On top of that our windows would not open all the way and we had to call them back out to fix the windows with a newborn in the house trying to sleep. And our payments started right when I went on maternity leave. Not only that we were under the impression that our interest rate was 5% and for a certain amount that payments would start in August (per the sales rep). Well interest rates are 10%, started in May, and the total amount was 10k more than he originally told us. I would NOT go with Window Nation if all of this was known to me, I would have gone with another company. Basically everything the sales rep told us was a bold faced lie and he just wanted to make a sale. I wouldn't recommend Window Nation to anyone. Good job, the 4 stars is for the pressure from the salesman to sign immediately I was determined to get 3 quotes as recommended for home projects. The other problem was the bad mouthing the companies that I had scheduled for quotes. I feel that is UNPROFESSIONAL and UNNECESSARY, although Window Nation is not the only one so did the other companies, it still does not make it right. I did get a decent deal. Installation went OK not too many problems...one bow window no screens, and I watched the installer do some work that could have been done so much better. He was more in a hurry to get done and on the road. I did question him about the insulation making sure all steps were done, they were he showed me how they put the insulation in the window. They work from the outside with one guy inside the house removing old windows, installation of windows is from the outside. read more

i ordered all new windows and sliding glass doors. 2 windows were installed broken and one had interior scratch. sliding glass door orders was wrong size. I had to deal with multiple installers. sliding glass door has one panel larger than the other. (operating panel 30.5 in, stationary 29.5in) So the screen when open is not flush with middle- looks terrible. They claim that this is how the door is manufactured and that there are no manufacturing specifications that I can review. Customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I am filing a claim in Maryland. Please spare yourself the pain! read more
