Window Nation is a JOKE!! I placed my order specifically with this company to "support local" during the Covid shutdown. I signed my papers 5/2/2020 after being pressured and harassed multiple times that day with a "only today" type offer. I was told it would be 4-6 weeks for installation of my windows and shutters. A month later on 6/5/2020 I received an email from the sales person that the shutters I picked out were discontinued and I had to pick a new color. A month later on 7/2/2020, the day before my installation, I was informed that my shutters were not ready and it would be another 4-6 weeks!! On the day of my installation, 7/3/2020, the installers arrive and tell me that 1 of my screens is damaged, after installation I realized that 2 more were too big! I immediately contact the sales person who apologized and said he was going to try and figure out what happened. From that point on he was very difficult to get a hold of and eventually after I requested to speak to a manager he just stopped responding all together. Well, the 4-6 weeks came and went with no shutters or screens. Then at the beginning of September I got a phone call to finally schedule installation for 9/5/2020...... or so I thought.... days later on 9/4/2020 (the day before installation) I was called yet again and told the shutters were not ready!!!! At this point it had been 18 weeks since I placed my initial order and 9 weeks since the windows had been installed!!! At that time I was also told that they were not responsible for the 2 screens that were too big and I needed to take it up with the warranty department.... after the original salesman said he would handle it!! Finally on 9/30/2020 I got a phone call that my shutters were in and that they would be able to install today 10/10/2020, 14 weeks late!!!! But wait, there's more! This morning they show up to install my shutters, damaged screen and the 2 screens that were too big..... they are missing the damaged screen and the shutters are 2 different colors!!!!!! To top it all off, they have offered NOTHING to make this right!!! Doing business with this company was one of the biggest mistakes of my life! I will never recommend them to anyone. Take your business elsewhere!! ***UPDATE**** 12/4/2020 If I could give negative stars I would. This was the biggest mistake I've ever made. Their communication sucks!! Their customer service sucks! Last I actually spoke to anyone in charge they were going to attempt to get me some sort of refund back and would get back to me with a final number.... well almost 4 weeks later, after several emails trying to follow up, my husband calls to follow up and they told him that I had already agreed to a specific amount!!!! Window nation has a great product but the installers they use do a half ass job putting the windows in. They do not ensure the frames are good or inform you if it is needed. I have water leaking into my basement from a window they installed 2 years ago. 2 months later I have to wait another month for an inspector to come out again to check it. You will never get a call back from anyone in the service department and you might even get hung up on by the service manager. Buyer beware. The installation of our windows did not go well. The first crew was incompetent and one of them had no experience installing windows. We didn't pay to train their crew. Our project included two half-round windows, one over each of two regular units in separate bedrooms. The installers did a miserable job with these windows, using massive amounts of caulk to cover their lack of skill. A second crew was sent to fix the job. They removed the trim from all of the new windows and resealed and flashed with their style. Evidently, there is no standard way to do this. The two half-round windows were botched again. One had a smooth, piece of semi-circular aluminum trim sealing the unit. The other had two pieces of trim seamed at the top in the middle. I don't know why anyone thought the mismatch was acceptable because it wasn't and had to be corrected. In addition, the interior woodwork around several windows was nicked and gouged, requiring repair. The first crew also left a nasty stain on our office carpet which had to be removed. Landscaping was trampled. At least the second crew cleaned up better than the first. I removed a lot of aluminum strips and other scrap from among our flowers. Communication from the office is not good either. The installation manager was scheduled to be at the house during one morning to correct a few things. He didn't arrive, so my wife called the office asking where he was. She was told he was delayed and wouldn't arrive until mid-afternoon. No one bothered to let her know. She had to rearrange her schedule to be at home when he finally arrived. Communication has improved, but our overall experience from installation through all the fixes took almost a month. This is not customer service. Window Nation stresses experience, professionals who specialize in window installation and training. Sorry, guys. Not on our job. read more

They say windows are the eyes unto the soul. If that is case, than our experience with Window Nation is quite telling of the management's motives. We first hired Window Nation to replace six windows in our home. The sales pitch was agonizing and included a lengthy (and I should unasked for) history of the company. However after that we signed on the dotted line and we looked forward to having energy efficient windows in our old home. Which we do. The windows were installed professionally and on time. Well done. When the time came to have a new door installed amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we called Window Nation back for a second large purchase. They said given the state of world they would forego the sales pitch and just let us pick out a door online. We thought that although learning the history of doors would likely be as facinating as the window presentation, we figured it was best to maintain the health of our family and pass it up. We picked out a door (spoiler alert: it both opens and closes) and signed a contract. This time that's where the customer service ended. We had questions but as soon as we paid our deposit, our calls and emails were not returned or not fully answered. The door apparently took a long time to manufacture. When we called for an update they simply did not return our several calls and emails. We waited and waited. Finally they called and said they would install the product in three days. Not much notice after waiting all that time but let's do it. The door was installed quickly. They rebuilt the entire doorframe in a matter of hours. The representatives communiced well about the process. They kept things tidy and professional. When they called to follow up on the service, Window Nation only asked about installation not sales. That leads one to think that not returning calls after signing a contract is intentional. Hense this public review. A wise man once said, "When God closes a door, he opens a window." Well we had both shut on us by Window Nation once they got our money. You can rest assured that the next time we have window and door needs, opportunity will be knocking somewhere else. read more

From the initial sales visit where they even brought a model window for us to see the workmanship, the quality, and the discounts they were offering, it was not a hard decision for us to make. We opted for the Potomac model with the laminated glass. Can't speak highly enough of the quality and the installation of the 4 new windows we had installed in our master bedroom. We were continually experiencing noises from outside at all hours of the night and early morning in addition to the room seeming to be cold. We had the original builder grade windows when we bought the house new. The installers were very professional, arrived when we were informed they would, and went right to work. The hardest part was getting the old windows out. Once the new windows were installed we noticed how quiet the room was immediately. Our sleep is totally different than before. No more car door slamming or hearing people talking out front as if they were actually in your bedroom, and the room feels warmer. Just had their salesman show up for our initial visit and estimate. As soon as he walked In the house ( literally within a minute ) he looked at our front window and began to inform us that if any lead was found in or around the windows that there would be an additional charge. These windows were replaced in the late 90's and I assured him that if there had been any lead that it would have been addressed that time. He then raised his voice and began to carry on about a certification of no lead before any work could be done. Needless to say, he was promptly escorted out the front door. I had a perfectly good experience with Window Nation. My windows were delivered and installed within one month of ordering. The installers did 9 windows and thoroughly cleaned up within 6 hours of arrival. They even made sure I knew how to work them. The only thing I need to check with my sales rep is if the bathroom window is supposed to have a screen. The windows were not cheap, but I needed a matching wood tone on the inside and white on the outside. They look great. I will update this if winter hits and I discover any leaks. Two months later my windows were partially installed because some of the materials were not what I had ordered. They waited until 30 minutes prior to the arrival period to inform me that they didn't have all of the materials. I'm hoping the rest of my experience with this company is better than what others have experienced. I rated 2 stars because the installers were good. They cleaned up and wore shoe covers. They were courteous and professional. TIP: do not remove your window treatments and move everything 3ft away from the windows as they request until they arrive (or until you receive a courtesy call informing they are en route). I purchased windows from Window Nation back in May after a referral from a friend. The installation was scheduled for July. I purchased over 40 windows and also had two sets of sliding glass doors replaced as well. When the sales person came out, he was nice. He instructed me that because many of my window treatments were external they would not need to be removed. Installation day comes, and I'm told that my window treatments need to be removed. Removing them was no biggie, I was able to get them all down without incident, with the exception of my very expensive curtain rod in my dining room. The guy doing the installation took it upon himself to remove the curtain rod. He wasn't tall enough to reach it and so he ended up damaging it. The remainder of the install was going without incident until they went to remove and replace the windows located in my living room, which is located in the front of my house. They removed the original windows, which were broken during the removal and discovered that the replacement windows did not fit. The front remained without a window for hours, which meant not only was air escaping, but insects were coming in. They then took windows from another room and placed them in the living room. The windows could not be opened because they didn't fit properly and they looked bad. There were a total of four windows, two in the living room and two in my disabled brother's room that were not measured properly. I had to move my disabled brother on two occasions to accommodate this error. Ultimately, Window Nation ended up discounting the job $2500, however I will never use their services again. I understand that mistakes happen, but my biggest issue with them is the lack of communication. I had previously bought doors from Thompson Creek and they measured two or three times, sent a project manager out when the installation was taking place and then checked back in with me to see if I was satisfied. I had the same expectations with this purchase, especially since it was such a large purchase. However I have ordered windows from them in April, just to have an issue with the number of windows for the contract be off. (I wrote down 26 windows for a price and they had 22 on the contract) my fault for not checking before I signed but still an issue their rep had made. That aside, it's now June, they have collected my payment for the windows but after the initial call where he sold me the windows, I have not received any other communications from them, unless I call or email. This experience started out good. Sales rep was responsive and matched a price from another vendor. Finance office lost my first deposit check. Sales rep came to pick up another one and said I would be sent a reimbursement check for the stop payment fee my bank charged for stopping payment on the first check. Never got a check, in spite of contacting the sales rep multiple times. He kept saying he put in another inquiry and would find out. Installers were great; clean, quick, and worked with flexibility around my home office meetings. I discovered one of the screens was torn and did not fit properly before they left, leaving a gap where bugs could get in. I showed it to the installer; he took pictures and said I would receive a new screen. Never did. After a wild goose chase of contacting Window Nation and the Flexscreen warranty folks, I was told I would have to pay the shipping and handling for the replacement screen. Considering I spent thousands for new windows and screens, they should be new and fit right without gaps at no additional cost to me. Customer service said I would hear from a higher-up within a week when I called the last time; no one responded. We started going over the work needed, and in conversation the salesman found out the title was in my husbands name, and not mine. Company refused to do the estimate. Window Nation is not worth the gamble, in my opinion. I have had at least five interactions with them. I found them disorganized, untrustworthy & lacking customer focus. I have never rehabbed a house and needed an honest company. I need every single window in the house & 3 exterior doors replaced, the house is in a sad state. It's my life savings in that house & I can't afford to screw it up by rushing a quote. At the same time, I don't have time to waste on a company that doesn't have their act together. I called Window Nation for the first time on Nov. 20th -- the customer service person was nice enough. I was on the phone for a long time giving them all my contact information, timeline, and the basics about what's needed. They offered a virtual or in person quote. I asked for in-person, I really need them measure the windows and such. I hoped to take advantage of a special they were advertising too so I needed to be sure the quote was accurate. If I gave them the wrong info or there was a glitch with my old house, I wouldn't know until AFTER I signed a contract with a lot of fine print that that I didn't qualify for the special or I needed to be upcharged for some "unexpected" complication. I'd never ask for in-person if I felt their was a safety risk by having them come to the EMPTY house. I am an essential worker, I am very cautious about protecting workers from covid19. There's plenty of room to stand 9-10 feet apart inside for the short time we needed to be in the house at the same time. The person taking calls said she couldn't schedule - a rep had to call me (I asked that I not be emailed). After no contact after the first call, I called again and told them I was still waiting to hear from someone - they said they would send a message. Then, I get an EMAIL from the rep who asked me to to reply with all the same information I already took time to give them when I first called. Plus he gave me a list of questions needed for virtual quote. It was bizarre to ask me to measure all the windows and doors, I have a tape measure but... The rep also wanted me to email what type of windows, the color, and indicate some options I didn't even understand. No info or instructions for any of this. I emailed the rep back. I told him I asked for an in-person appt and indicated why. The rep's email response was that Window Nation wont do in person quotes, at all, due to the pandemic. So I responded to say I would take my business elsewhere if they couldn't come out -- they NEVER responded to that email or bothered to call. I should have stopped there. After more time passed, I decided to give them another chance and call again, maybe the rep no longer worked there & they lost track of his duties. On this call, I was again told that they DO have reps come out to work up quotes & couldn't explain why I was told otherwise. I asked them to secure an appt. for me since I was blown off by their rep by email. I finally received an in-person quote appt. for early December. In preparation for the appt., I left my remote work at home & traveled to the house prepared to take precautions to protect the the health of both of us. I opened the windows for fresh air but then sat in my car to limit my time in the house before he came. After they didn't call or show up, alert I called. They needed to check on the reps ETA so needed to contact him. When they called back they said they needed to CANCEL the appointment altogether. I understand that things come up, but I was ready to reschedule right then. Nope. They said they'd call me back. I assumed I'd hear back the next day. Nope, again. It's now the end of December, it's been 39 DAYS since I called them initially & almost a MONTH since they cancelled an in-person appointment. No call, no email, at all (I just checked before writing this). I could see them blaming the rep (a big part of the problem) but that individual would have been flagged long ago when he turned down my business. You'd think that would be taken seriously. All those calls and emails and Window Nation could not follow through on a quote to do an entire house. I lost valuable time that I don't really have. *I* don't waste other's time by getting a million free quotes all at once, I can't even manage that, I was hoping I'd get a decent quote and not have to go through getting three quotes...during a pandemic. They were the first call. I wish they had the same respect for my time that I had for theirs. So yes, Window Nation gets a few good reviews here and there. But, imagine if you are the one of the unlucky ones to be in the middle of a job and then have something go wrong. I suppose I should be grateful they screwed up so early in the process. We signed back in December and it's July now. We are still waiting for our windows. They did half the installation back in March because some of the windows were mismeasured. We need 4 windows for the job to be complete but they keep trying to install 2 windows. We wanted 4 basement windows replaced, so I set up a few apointments from different companies to get quotes, Window Nation being the first. They quoted me for $8,000, but after seeing the look on my face, they could somehow magically reduce it to $4,000, but ONLY if I paid the 33% down payment then and there. Being the naive, first time window buyer that I am, I agreed based on the fact that I had 5 business days to cancel for a full refund of the down payment, thinking worst case scenario I would cancel. After getting other quotes (all around $4,000 with no magical discounts) and reviewing more online reviews, I decided to cancel my order to go with another company. After cancelling, my sales rep called me, trying to get me to reconsider with a bit of an attitude. After thanking him for being informative and pleasant to work with, he hung up on me. I should have believed the reviews I read here and not done business with this company. I was told the windows would be installed in 6-8 weeks. It took 12 weeks. Twice after asking where my windows were I received an email letting me know that the manufacturing of my windows had just begun. Once the windows were installed I noticed the trim inside my house had been pried away from the wall, peeling the paint along with it on almost every window and one of them has a bubble in the glass. I contacted the installation warranty folks. They asked for pictures which I emailed in. Then I waited. A day later I received a call asking me to send the pictures that I had already sent. Then I waited some more. A week later I start calling again. I'm told someone will get back to me and if not, call back in two hours as the manager was in a meeting. They don't call so I do. I'm told the manager can't be reached and that an email marked urgent will be sent. Still no call. I call again the next day. I'm told that it's 5 business days before I'm supposed to here back, and as the pictures I sent weren't added into the file until a day after I sent them, plus the weekend, the 5 days aren't up yet, but someone is "looking at the file and will get back to you later today." Well, here we are 3 days after I was told that and they still haven't got back to me. They keep sending emails letting me know that the relationship doesn't end after installation. This is the second worse relationship I've been in. They got what they wanted and I've been ghosted. read more

Furthermore, after waiting several weeks to hear from the scheduling department, I began to attempting to contact them. I made at least 7 attempts to get on the schedule by contacting a representative via e-mail and telephone. We were promptly contacted (and scheduled) after sharing our decision to cancel the order for windows and doors. Today, our windows were installed (yippee!); however, the doors were not available, so we are still left waiting even longer and the weather is getting colder. Aside from those issues, and to be fair, the installation team was prompt, polite and professional. We are pleased with the quality of their workmanship. We are considering having them do more work for us, but we are hesitant. Guess we will make a decision based on how things go with the completion of the work (doors). So, in conclusion, I would cautiously recommend them if you have an installation deadline in mind. However, I would readily recommend them if you have no time constraint. read more

We contracted with WN to replace our homes old lead paint windows, at first everything went ok, the company measured the windows, confirmed lead paint, and began the order with the factory. That's when things started to go downhill, we were told the window order would be delayed due to supply chain issues, (okay fair enough), once the windows finally came in, they sent out an install team on a weekend, and that's where things really went off the rails. The installation team didn't adhere to safety protocols for removal of lead-based windows (stipulated in the contract), in fact they didn't even try. Halfway through the install, I was shocked to see the state of our house, dust and paint chips everywhere, drop cloths, when used, were put down haphazardly, our living room rug was half covered with dust and other trash, some rooms nothing was bothered to be covered at all. We found dust and chips everywhere after the install with only a cursory attempt at cleaning. As soon as I saw the way the windows were being put in, I let the installers know I was unhappy with the way things were being done, little changed the rest of the day, by the end of the day I realized all the plaster damage the installation had caused to our walls, but it was concern for our family's health from the lead chips which was topmost of mind. I don't know if since the install happened on a weekend, the installers weren't the A team, or because this was likely a two-day job rushed into a one day install, but it was a total mess and unacceptable. Other examples of generally sloppy work included dried glue left on the windows, and a couple screens with rips in them installed= zero quality control. The next day brought new surprises, our yard was disgusting, littered with glass shards (some quite sizeable), drill bits, tape, nails, bits of the old windows, metal, even a full can of caulk. Took two hours of cleaning up glass on our driveway (where the installers trucks had parked), I was able to pull our car in. Months later, we're still finding pieces of refuse especially glass in our yard near the house, suspect this will be a while before it's all gone, if ever. The reason? Window Nation didn't put down tarps or plastic to catch refuse, and were either too lazy or rushed to clean up after the new windows were in. The state our place was left was infuriating. Months of discussions with WN representatives about our disappointment with the install were equally frustrating, calls and emails went unanswered for days and weeks, we were told such and such a person was "pinged" and had 48 hours to respond, which would naturally come and go without anyone being in touch. Twice, Window Nation representatives accidentally sent us paperwork for other clients to sign with their private information included, the incompetence was astounding and concerning. After nearly five months of intermittently talking with one WN manager, we were told after calling following a two-week period of silence, they had left the company. No one told us, we were back to square one, with a new representative who feigned ignorance of their colleague's lack of progress over five months although they also admitted to overseeing them. We wanted to be happy with the work Window Nation completed on our home, we appreciate some of the places they advertise, and the price was reasonable compared to other firms. However, the process from ordering through customer service was horrific. Our experience with the installation was so terrible, I would never in good conscience suggest someone contract with WN for their project. Look elsewhere. read more

My first appointment they cancelled because they said the sales representative had a family emergency. So earlier this week we set up a second appointment for this morning at 9:00 am. We confirmed the appointment with them yesterday. However, no one from Window Nation showed up or called to say they were not coming. read more

Buyer Beware INDEED. I heard about Window Nation from 106.7 The Fan and thought I would give them a try. It has turned into a complete disaster with no help from the salesman, the management and ultimately - the owner Mr. Magden. For the past six months I have reached out to this company to solve a major issue with the windows. They schedule appointments to come out to the home, then cancel. My salesman, David Burkhardt - totally fell off the radar. I have no idea if he is even still with them. They don't bother to tell you during the sales pitch or the measuring process, that your current expensive custom blinds will no longer it into the new window frame. We have tried and tried to work with them, now going on 6 months, to no avail. I have 8 new nice beautiful windows - all without the matching 2" custom blinds that are in all my other 24 windows! The kitchen window in particular - looks directly into our neighbor's house - and we can't even fit a roll up shade into the space left by the new windows. There is no privacy at all now in the kitchen. We have since sold our home - and the problem can NOT be resolved now. Stay away from Window Nation. Our neighbor needed their windows replaced, and I told them to go with Thompson Creek and they did. I would never recommend them to anyone - My next stop of the Better Business Bureau and an attorney. Ridiculous and now I see several very BAD reviews on Yelp. What company to you know that the employee does not give you their last name when calling with an issue! Well that would be Window Nation! We have been going around for months now trying to get a response on our damage caused by a leaking window. We paid $150 to have a technician come out after the installation, and he reported the window was not sealed properly. After numerous calls they sent out a "manager" and he took photos and tested the widow to make sure what the first tech was holding up. He told us that an insurance adjuster would be out to asses the damage. Well every week I call and every week I get the same runaround "we contacted them( whomever them are)! I supposedly got the someone in corporate today and after being transferred around I guy came on and ask what we wanted! After going through the whole story again ...he said he would have to get back to us! When ask for a name he said he only gives out his first name...I said what! Anyway nothing resolved tie to go the legal route I guess read more
