I was craving something sweet and this place seemed to be new and popular so I decided to stop by. My friend and I got their dole whip and their Mozza-dog taiyaki. Their dole whip was good, but I can't say it's better or worse than others I've tried. Their taiyaki is what won me over. The breading was crispy on the outside and the melted, slightly burnt cheese on the edges was so good. The inside was nice and soft as well. It tastes similar to Honeymee, but not as creamy. I regret not adding the "black sugar drizzle" because I felt like my soft serve was lacking that extra oomph of flavor. I tried the black sugar drizzle by itself because I was contemplating adding it to my soft serve (the guy helping my group was super helpful and gave me a sample of it, as weird of a request as it was).. I didn't think it would taste good on my soft serve because it tasted like boba syrup and I wasn't sure if it would go with my soft serve.. But after trying both separately, I think I would get it next time :) The menu is simple, which I like! At times, a busy menu becomes overwhelming. Toppings (such as mixed nuts, Biscoff cookie crumbles, fruity pebbles, rainbow sprinkles, and etc.) are free and self-serve. Parking is shared between surrounding stores in a small plaza. I have been scouring to find a place with fresh taiyaki since Somi Somi in the Santa Anita Mall closed. - This place is a must try, and the pricing is fair. If you order in a pack of 3, 5, or 10, it's only $2/each while an individual piece is $2.50. - All of the flavors we were tried were delicious!!! We got Custard, Nutella, Cream cheese, Mozza-dog, and Red bean. If I had to only recommend one to try, I would go with the classic custard. But they're all so good you would want more than one. They come out piping hot with a crispy exterior and a very chewy mochi interior. This place also doesn't skimp out on the filling. - The Cookies & Cream shake ($6.10) was a bit too icy though and not creamy enough. SERVICE/AMBIANCE: The staff are extremely kind, and she even labeled the boxes so we knew which taiyaki was what flavor. Since there was no one else in the store when we went around 2 PM on a weekday, we received our order in about 10 minutes. It's a small store, clean, and located on the left of Golden Deli in the plaza. There is no restroom for use available. With Love, is a new dessert establishment that recently took over Labobatory's location next to Golden Deli inside of the Bopomofo plaza. While the location is small, the shop does have a small bar seating area as well as a bench in the middle of the store for customers to sit. Parking is going to be troubling if you come during busy hours, but there's always street parking. Of course we had to try their taiyakis - there's 5 different flavors (red bean, nutella, cream cheese, custard, and mozza-dog). Each one is $2.50 or 3 for $6, 5 for $10, or 10 for $20. We went with one red bean, one nutella, and three custards. Because the shop was a little busy at the moment, we had to wait for several orders ahead of ours to be fulfilled before they got to ours - we probably waited about 10 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. The taiyakis definitely should be eaten fresh, when they're still warm. It was pretty enjoyable with the outside being super crispy yet chewy and the inside having a mochi-like filling along with the actual filling. Felt like the red bean and nutella had a good amount of filling packed inside while the custard could have used a little more filling. My sister did say that the batter could have been a little sweeter; she also felt like the taiyakis were crispy on one side but soggy on the other. Overall, I enjoyed it! I especially liked the mochi-like texture of the taiyaki itself. Also got a soft serve to try. There's current four different flavors (pure milk/black sugar milk (extra $0.50), pineapple Dole whip, Ghiardelli chocolate, and matcha). The pure milk and Dole whip can be swirled together while the chocolate and matcha can be swirled together. I opted for the pure milk and Dole whip ($4.50). There's a toppings bar area where you can self-serve, which is really nice. They offer sprinkles, Biscoff cookie crumble, Oreo crumbs, Cocoa Pebbles, Fruity Pebbles, mixed nuts, condensed milk, honey, and chocolate. They even have color changing spoons! The soft serve was good, but I think the Dole whip overpowered the pure milk. Liked the flavors, but I'd just get pure milk next time. After the taiyakis come out, the workers clip off the extra odds and ends that don't go along with the fish pattern. Kind of wish they just leave that on! Even though it makes the taiyakis less aesthetically pleasing, it's still parts of the taiyaki I can eat! tl;dr - Can see people leaving Golden Deli or Benten and popping over for some dessert. The ice cream doesn't melt quickly, the Taiyaki is not mushy and it's perfectly shaped without remnants lingering on its edges, and the self-serve topping bar allows you to put over 5+ toppings if you want! This place is better than the well-known Somi Somi. Please give this place a try. I had the Ube ice cream topped with Oreo crumbles--it was perfect! It's a small place that serves a variety of ice cream and cold drinks. It's very similar to Somi Somi in that you choose your ice cream and your filling lined inside the Taiyaki (fish shaped cone). This place differs in that they have more options in terms of toppings (free and unlimited in that you serve yourself) and they also have shakes, slushies, smoothies, and Sso Tteok (savory sausage and rice cake). I ordered the Pineapple Dole Whip and it was good but nothing really different or special. I also ordered the Sso Tteok inside the Taiyaki and it was also okay. Sso Tteok is a Korean street food that is typically served on a stick, like a kabob, alternating between rice cake and sausage with a slightly sweet and spicy sauce. With Love put a spin to it in that they serve it in the Taiyaki. The flavors were good, but I didn't think it worked with the Taiyaki in that there was only one small piece of rice cake and one small halved piece of sausage. The filling was lacking and it was there was too much breading for the lack of filling and sauce. Typically the rice cake balances out the saltiness of the sausage but put inside the bready Taiyaki, it just didn't have enough flavor. One nice thing about this place is that they have a section with toppings that you can help yourself to. The service was really good as well. Overall, I would go back again if I was in the neighborhood but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back. read more

My boyfriend and I have been waiting for this place to open and while we were on our way to get ice cream somewhere else, we saw the lights on and instantly made a U-Turn. I'm such a sucker for taiyaki and I'm so glad this place has opened up! In comparison to Somi-Somi, this taiyaki is crispier and thinner with a very generous amount of filling inside. The filling had a good balance of sweetness for their red bean and custard fillings. I'm not a big sweets person so I thought this one had a good balance. We also got their matcha milk ice cream, which had a strong flavor of matcha. They had toppings for anyone to put on their ice creams if they'd like. The kicker is that their spoons are color changing based on hot vs cold. We thought that was fun They also have milkshakes and slushees. I got the red bean taiyaki and the filling was actually pretty good. Good chunks of red bean and the taiyaki was crispy on the outside. I do want to try their savory taiyakis next time. Came after dinner on a Friday night and easily found parking. Immediately upon entering the shop I was hit with an extreme heat wave. It was legit 87 degrees inside an ice cream shop. Idk if that's a normal thing or not, but it was really unpleasant. Plus the shop is really small. With that said, they fulfilled my order in about 20 seconds, so that was excellent! The dole whip is enough to serve two for $4.50 and each taiyaki (with whatever filling you want) is $2.50. You can also purchase more taiyaki to save a few bucks. Since I came here for a sweet treat, I decided to get the dole whip and custard taiyaki. The taiyaki came out within five minutes, and was cooked to perfection.
