When this place first opened I liked it. It was more of a subways styled pick what you want and they cook it up. Now that it's more of a sit down restaurant it's a weird atmosphere. Food is alright. But the music in the restaurant is odd and the noise from the open kitchen just makes this a weird fast food/sit down restaurant mix. I probably won't be back. It's so hard to get a decent bowl of jjajangmyun in this city! I actually gave up my search for a while until I heard about this place. I really enjoyed Wok 'n Guys's black bean noodles and seafood fried rice. Tasted like what I would get if I ordered yetnahl (old style) jjajang at any neighborhood takeout joint in Seoul. This style is hard to find in the U.S.: it's simple and flavorful with plenty of pork, cubed potatoes, onions, and cabbage in the sauce. Hit the spot for me! Service was prompt and professional. One star subtracted for the noodles. I prefer my noodles to be thinner and more springy. read more

Oh my god! I came here expecting the fast food noodle joint of reviews past. No more! This is a legit Korean restaurant now, and the noodle dish I had - jjajang myun $9.49 - was fantastic!!! The noodles are quality with the right chewy texture, and the rich savory sauce was so delicious I wanted to lick my bowl clean! It's mostly noodles and gravy with potatoes, onions, and a few pieces of meat in it. You get a little side dish of kimchi and pickles with your meal. I love the little touches. I also was given a little Korean yogurt drink dessert, but I'm not sure if that's just because it just re-opened with the new menu. read more

Had jjajang myun, jjambbong, and kkangpoongki. Kkangpoongki was too breast, explains why it was more oily than necessary. Jjambbong was good, but had too much hot oil. Jjajang cam out room temperature, was potatoes galore, and the portion was not comparable to the jjambbong-- the did sizes are the same at any other restaurant with these dishes. These three dishes take 15 minutes to cook AND deliver in Korea and to cook at many places in the US, this place took an hour just to get our first dish and 15 minutes thereafter for the following two. I wouldn't be surprised if another table got out order. They came a couple tables later than us but were served the same dishes first. Odd. I always either finish my food or take it home with me. I did neither today. A little further but I recommend Taipei Noodle Haus instead. read more

Grain of salt: This is based off one visit. I'll be back to verify. I tried the N3, a Gya JJajang pork noodle bowl with black bean sauce. I ordered it over the JJajang Myung because it supposedly had more meat in it. What I got was a fairly large bowl of noodles with a lot of grilled onion and a minuscule amount of meat. For 12.50$ it was not on par with what I was really after. There may have been 2.5 oz of pork in the whole thing. The bean sauce was decent, but considering the amount of noodles, probably not enough to flavour everything. The good thing about it was that it was quick. And while they didn't have the typical array of ban chan, it felt more like a quick-lunch place anyway, so I wasn't terribly upset about it. Another thing that felt a bit off was that they didn't have barley tea, which is sort of a brilliant accompaniment to Korean food. Yet, for 12.50$, at most places I get a full array of banchan as well as a tonne of meat. I feel like HaeRim, across the street, is a bit more on par with what I'd expect. I'm willing to give this another shot and update my review, though. So fear not. read more

I just spent 2 weeks in Korea and ate jjampong/jjajangmyun twice in Seoul. This place is totally comparable to good Korean Chinese places in Korea. We tried the cream jjampong, regular jjampong, and jjajangmyun, and they were all superb. Their noodles look hand pulled, and the vegetables in the jjampong broth were wok-seared which resulted in smoky, deep flavor. My husband and I are super excited that we have such a solid Korean Chinese place in the greater Portland area. Asian food in Portland is getting better and better. read more

I won't be going here again. Not because the service wasn't excellent, which it was. I did have trouble hearing the man's "timid" voice over the blaring fan hoods in the back though. No, I won't be going back because the food simply wasn't good. It wasn't inedible, but it was ill-prepared and not super fresh. The shrimp were precooked and kept in a warming pan before being added to the dish I ordered. After their final reheat, they were tough and not at all nice to eat. The noodles were precooked in another warming pan, and added to reheat them in the wok with sauce. The sauce (sweet & spicy) wasn't very well balanced and hit a bit flat. Maybe it needs some acid. The whole combination of veggies, shrimp, and noodles ended up being a slippery, gloppy mess. I ordered teriyaki kid's plates for my girls and the sauce ended up tasting burnt and the chicken (reheated from another warming pan) was overdone as well. This was simply another variation of a Mongolian grill, but wok-based with fewer choices, and fewer and lesser quality ingredients to choose from. read more

If Subway and Panda Express had a baby... It would be named Wok n Guys. The best time to hit Panda Express is when items hit the buffet fresh. The best thing about Subway is that you can order food as you like it. This is the best of both those worlds, but also the worst. The layout is a lot like a Subway (or Chipotle, or...) Wherein you stop by one station to make selections on what will be in your food. This time it's protein and vegetables. After deciding on your sauce and rice or noodles, you pay and eat. The food is good, but not great. It's a bit stodgy, but what can you expect? It's been in trays over ice all day. It gets a quick toss in a wok to finish, but you can't get rid of that pre-prepared food taste. Overall, not bad... And I'll be back, but only because I like quick, simple food. The restaurant itself is clean and the staff is so friendly. I would come here for the atmosphere alone. Amidst the hustle and bustle (if you can actually call it that) of the neighborhood that surrounds it, it's generally serene. Though, I've only actually been here a couple of times, and on weekends. The portions of food are surprisingly large. They are tasty and come out quickly. I knew nothing of the jjajangmyun but so many Yelpers gave it such high praise, that was the first thing I ordered. It was as great as everyone said it would be. It's nice how they keep the sauce and noodles separated when you get it to go. I wish they did that for all their "to go" noodle dishes. The food here is wonderful! I would rate the food a 5 alone. But the service is atrocious! It took 20 minutes to get seated, another 15 minutes to get our order in. Then an hour for our food to be ready. We got one refill on our tea. No water, and I had asked the server several times. I speak fluent Korean so there were no language barrier issues. Yeah, this some authentic and delicious champong and jjajang myun. Large satisfying portions, and extremely flavorful. The champong was loaded with seafood and the broth was spicy and full of depth. If your looking for a math major to take the 20 present off you bill, you're at the wrong place. Had a coupon and it was for 20% off the total order. They added money and did not take the fulll 20% off the bill. The guy kept saying the boss says that's the way they do it as they do not buy quarter's? What, you're charging a credit card, so help me understand why there is an additional charge. Jun just kept saying we don't buy quarters. I asked for the owners name and now the jun is a partner. Food was ok, parking was a bitch at lunch. So watch your bill. They might just have charge you additional money due to no quarters on site. read more

All I can say is wow. Fresh ingredients, made to order food. The meats are par cooked which I'm sure helps in a quick serve setting and is way more preferable than cross contamination. Great service even during the lunch rush. I had chicken with Mongolian flavor and I was impressed. They have lots to choose from. Prices are fair. Not much seating but it is a casual quick serve environment, so it's not horrible. I can't wait to go back and experiment with all the combinations. This place is a bit like Mongolian style restaurants only in a quick serve format. The only little issue I had was it was a LITTLE oily, but in their defense I could have ordered it light oil. Ended up paying $16.99 for it. Which was way more than I expected. I asked if they had smaller size plates and she said no. Not very friendly are they?! I was starving so just paid. Maybe it will be a lot of food and I can split it into a few meals. Sat down and found a lunch menu. So girl lied about smaller plates for cheaper but whatever, maybe a miscommunication so I let it go. Got my food and it was a lot! But no rice. WTF?! I had to pay $2 to get rice. Meal almost $20 now ...this better be good. I ate a few pieces, the pork was bland, not crispy, foreign pork bits that didn't even taste like pork...and I'm Asian, so when it grosses me out, you know what's up! The sauce wasn't any better.
