First off our waitress was a doll. super sweet and took care of us perfectly. The food was amazing! I got the crispy chicken minis that come with bang bang (or maybe it was boom boom?) sauce. They were so good. The chicken is super crispy, but not over breaded which is perfect! I got the Cajun tots as my side and they were so good. Super crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My boyfriend got the fish and chips with sweet potato fries. These sweet potato fries are AMAZING. I'd love to come back and try more of their menu and check out their bar downstairs. A quiet evening with friends was just what I wanted. We made reservations and headed off to Woody's Library Restaurant. It was the night of the Carmel ice sculptures on Main St and the sculptures were amazing. Woody's is an old library and has a great interior and mood due to the decor and lighting. It's usually a pretty busy place so I was grateful for the reservation. We sat down at our table and were shortly greeted by Grace, our server. She was funny and friendly and knew her menu well. She easily helped my wife navigate food choices with her food allergies. She also helped my other friend who is a very picky eater find something she loved as well. The food came out and it was well prepared and delicious!! Even my picky friend loved her food, and that's a big accomplishment! We all ate our fill and enjoyed it immensely. After the meal, we were offered dessert, but we were all stuffed!! Grace wrapped up the check and wished us a good evening and we were on our way to more fun. I'm impressed that Kevin "Woody" Rider has two great restaurants that have safe and delicious offerings for people of all tastes and food restrictions. You can bet that we will be back! read more

Woah woah woah! ZERO STARS! Saturday night 7:30 pm and we walk in as a party of 3 to celebrate our engagement and get seated right away upstairs the hostess gets us water delivered. And a big top leaves and it's getting cleaned up the table who was sat a few minutes before we walked in behind already had drinks and we sat for 22 minutes and multiple times reached out hands and in made direct attention to what looked like the only waiter for maybe 4 tables of which a two top had their meals another 4 top was finished eating and the one seated next to us had their drinks so far. Waiter never stopped and acted in a manner like we just weren't there even though he was the one for us. We stood up after 22 MINUTES and walked out! Right alongside the waiter and I had to step out of his way as he seem busy with refilling a drink speedy fast and needing me to move from the aisle. The hostess saw me and just shook her head in the waiters direction. That indicates to me this isn't A one off event! First time coming in and last time leaving. Was in the mood for pot roast but ended up taking by celebration to Agave across the street and was welcomed by the warm embrace of fresh chips and salsa. I'm all about supporting local as a lot of my reviews mention but I just can't say enough how non existent the service was for a place that was actually pretty slow. Hopefully the owners or restaurant manager see this review and understand this isn't acceptable at all. I've always had good experiences at Woody's. They've got great food, reasonably priced drinks, and the menu has a wide variety. The staff is also super friendly (shoutout to Kerry). I usually get the buffalo chicken wrap (which is awesome), but recently decided to try the buffalo chicken wedge salad and OH MY was it delicious. I would get it again in a heart beat. The layout of this place is also pretty cool. They've got traditional seating in the main area upstairs, seating in the basement which has a dive bar sort of feel with a TV, high top tables, bar games and jukebox, and a large outdoor patio area. read more

We came here because they have an outdoor patio that allows dogs. They were very accommodating, our dog was very content and we kept him out of the way of other patrons. Win win. The menu has something for everyone from your keto needs to vegetarian. We shared the bacon bombs...my meat loving spouse enjoyed these thoroughly. I will try another meat option next time. The sliders were good as were the sweet potato fries. My husband had a cheeseburger with no bun. It came with no lettuce or tomato or pickle. Not sure if that is standard or they thought he didnt want anything on it. Service was attentive and friendly. Patio was well ventilated and fans were going to make the heat bearable. My friend and I chose Woody's Library today to try something different. Both of us had not been to this longtime Carmel fixture for many years. We went for lunch around 1:00 p.m. and were seated immediately. I'd say they were at about 30% occupancy when we arrived and more when we left. I chose the Hearty Spinach salad ($8) with grilled chicken added +($5). The salad was very good and I had half left to bring home. My friend chose Blue Wedge ($8) with added bacon crumbles +($2) and really enjoyed it. Although we were seated in the covered outdoor area it was warm enough and quiet enough to converse without raising our voices. Parking is limited, as is the situation with anywhere in downtown Carmel, but we were lucky enough to find a spot close by. First off this place has been on my Carmel bucket list not because of the food but because of the history. As soon as you walk in, you notice the quirky layout. We went through the side entrance and was instantly confused, fortunately the sever explained, there are 3 main areas: the covered, heated outside area (most popular), the downstairs bar, and the indoor iconic upstairs library. Service was really good, the food is your classic American menu, nothing too special. I really enjoy the fried pork tenderloin sandwich with the Cajun tater tots. I had a very enjoyable experience on a Friday night. My friend and I didn't have reservations anywhere (shame on us for not being more prepared during COVID) and didn't really want to wait an hour to eat. Luckily there was table available upstairs! I had never been here before so I was intrigued by the building's history and overall layout and design. The service was friendly and the food came out fast and hot! Woody's is a great place to eat outside during these summer months! It's never too busy & just a short walk away from the monon! There's plenty of spaces to park around back, too! For outdoor seating, you can either enter through the main doors, or around back as well. I've seen dogs on the patio as well, so that's great that it's dog-friendly as this is a hopping place for dog owners! The wait staff is prompt and friendly, food is quick to come out! However, this is not a super vegetarian-friendly restaurant. I chose to come back because I had some amazing mushroom tacos last summer, but it turns out they change their menus every season, so just beware! I ended up getting the spinach artichoke dip with a Caesar salad & my husband got an avocado wrap, so pretty limited in the vegetarian department, but meat eater should be really happy here! It's a cool building with great history and a book/library theme that is reflected in the decor - think bookshelves, dark wood, etc. Not to mention, they've got a great patio space with fancy technology that allows it to be used when it's cool out or open it up when it's bright and sunny. On a nice day, the patio is packed all day long. I came on Taco Thursday - pick two tacos and get a side. I got the seasoned beef & quinoa tacos with a side of blue tortilla chips and pineapple pico - plenty of food for $11. They've got a nice happy hour apps and drinks menu and overall, their menu is fairly extensive - you're bound to find something you like here. I will preface this review by saying this was our first time here and they were able to get a party of 6 in last minute on a Saturday so I'll give them that. That's the only credit they deserve unfortunately. Our experience was upstairs in the library area which we were looking forward to considering we've heard this place is a local favorite. About 10 minutes into our dinner we were already looking forward to getting our check. It has a total dive bar vibe which we didn't expect considering how many reviews we read and people we've talked to about the food. The entire place gives off a super fratty vibe because the staff is only kids. Literally babies and they could care less. Again, if we thought this was more of a bar I would completely expect that vibe. The girl serving us was literally talking shit about us to her co workers the entire time right in front of us and rolling her eyes at any of us anytime we would ask her for something. Keep in mind we were as respectful as you can be for a while, at least until we realized she was going out of her way to be rude as hell. The only thing we were talking about is it's a shame that the owner(s) clearly doesn't care about how their staff represents their restaurant. The way we were treated would be inexcusable in Los Angeles, let alone a small town in Indiana. Pro tip: get adult supervision here immediately or these kids will run your business into the ground. We are all more than reasonable people who just expect to be treated like a human. Will never recommend to anyone and will never be back. read more

A friend of mine suggested we have lunch at Woody's in the Carmel Arts & Design District. It had been a long time since I'd been here and her last few visits were very positive. Woody's main floor is a cozy, family friendly restaurant and pub housed in a 1913 library with a spacious, covered outdoor patio. The basement level has a casual pub atmosphere serving the same menu and drinks as the Library. The cozy dining room features rustic wood and bookshelves lined with vintage volumes. We were the only ones for lunch for quite awhile so it was very peaceful and relaxing. The menu has a nice variety and they offer a lunch menu as well as discounted appetizers from 3-6 pm and, I think, all day Sunday. Woody's is also open late till midnight Monday thru Thursday and till 3:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. We started with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps which were very good and I enjoyed the sweet garlic chili glaze. My friend ordered the Shoestring Onions which were thinly sliced onion rings served with honey chipotle BBQ sauce. She loves onion rings and they did not disappoint. For lunch my friend ordered the 1/2 pound Angus Burger with fries. The burger was cooked perfectly and she said it was delicious. I had the Tomato Bisque which was very thick and flavorful with baked croutons on top. I ordered the Bun-less Oven Bake which is a grilled chicken, spinach, provolone, fresh mozzarella, onion, tomato topped with a balsamic glaze. I loved the tender chicken with the fresh spinach smothered in two types of cheese and the balsamic glaze finished it off nicely. Woody's is an American restaurant, right in the middle of the Arts & Design district on Main Street in Carmel. I dig Main Street in Carmel, so by default, I give every restaurant there the benefit of the doubt. I had tacos. I know, I just said the place was American, but they have a little of everything. My only mild complaint: We waited a long, long time for drink refills. Repeatedly. I know - people are starving around the world, but it's just one of those things that pushes your buttons a little. Both the facade and interior of the building are stunning and filled with potential but I can't help but think that the outdated interior (I get that this is supposed to be a historical-like place) has the ability to be a mind-blowing establishment like Battery Park Book Exchange in Asheville, NC. A restaurant surrounded by books! Ah! Think of the magic that can happen here. I ordered the spinach salad with bacon, avocado, hard boiled egg, bleu cheese, and vinaigrette. The salad was satisfying and reminiscent of the "healthy options" you find on menus at American eateries. I suppose my mind is clouded by all of the potential I see here. We loved this cozy little spot! We stopped in on a weeknight during devour Indy. Their menu for that special dining week was an excellent deal: either $22 per person or $30 (depending on your entree) for a three course meal! My wedge salad had a lot of dressing, which made it just a bit sloppy. The Caesar also had cranberries which was...interesting? However, the desserts and entrees were epic. Whatever you order, do not miss the mashed potatoes. I could have had an entire plate of them. We closed our meal with dessert bites, the perfect size of something sweet. Woody's is close to being my new favorite restaurant. Reasons why I love it: The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with all the wood furniture everywhere and old books and a fish tank. It's kid-friendly without being all about kids (they have kids' books available at the entrance, and a changing table in the bathroom). The food is good comfort food: you can find on the menu meat loaf, chicken pot pie, mashed potatoes and pot roast, but also lighter things like soup, salad (try the wedge salad), sliders, sandwiches and wraps. I got the Kettle Chip Chicken, which came with a barbecue sauce on it. The chicken was amazingly crispy, but the sauce was a little too much on it, so next time I'd order it on the side. It came with herbed mashed potatoes, gravy and corn, which were excellent. The creme brûlée is amazing. There is a bar downstairs where you can watch sports, if that is your thing. Upstairs is the main dining room. It's kind of like Cheers! One thing I noticed is that they play contemporary Christian music, which I don't mind, but I thought that was interesting. Ate at Woody's yesterday. I ordered the Pot Pie. If was terrible. I paid $18.00 and was so disappointed. There were chunks of chicken but the vegetables were non existent, the sauce was spicy and just plain unappetizing. It had a piece of flaky crust on the top and that was fine. I was disappointed that the waitress (Heather) didn't ask me if something was wrong in light of the fact that I left the whole thing other than the flaky crust. She did ask me if I wanted a take out box which I obviously didn't. Very disappointed. To be fair, the 3 others at our table thought their meals were ok. read more

They have a few vegan options on the menu: stir fry and superfood sauté, plus some sides (tomato bisque, fruit cup, french fries, garden salad, steamed rice, grilled asparagus, and a raspberry sorbet for dessert. Really nice patio area--lots of fans to keep you cool on a hot summer day. The Lots of drink specials depending on what day of the week it is. Overall, I like this place. I only gave them 3 stars because they wouldn't allow any food customization (they sell sides of avocado, black beans and rice - I asked if I could have all 3 with some tortillas to make tacos, and they said they couldn't do that). I'll try them again and hopefully they'll have some additional vegetarian options at some point. It would be great if they could carry the Impossible Burger! read more

I'm not sure where to start. My husband,sister, and I walked in and had no idea where to go. There wasn't anyone at the hostess stand. We walked through another door where we found the bar. We then had to ask where to go to sit and eat. We were taken to the balcony. The whole purpose of this place is the "cool" factor of it being an old library. Upon asking if there was seating in the library, we were told that they only sit people in the balcony when there isn't a lot of people. If it wasn't for our very nice waitress being kind and "sneaking" us into the main part, we would have left at that point. Now for the food. To sum it up...GFS food sold overpriced For appetizers we ordered breaded mushrooms and pretzel breadsticks. The mushrooms looked and tasted as if they came straight from a freezer bag and popped into a microwave. The pretzel breadsticks...well it doesn't take much to heat up frozen bread. My husband got the Hoosier Pork aka tenderloin sandwich. It was dry, smelt disgusting, and was not a Hoosier tenderloin. I got the BBQ pork. Please do not be misguided by the description like I was. It was literal mush and tasted like manwich. My sister is 13 and a picky eater. She chose the three cheese grilled cheese.
