They are located in Burbank, on Magnolia Blvd, close to George Izay Park. There's a nice family feeling here. The tables outside are convenient if you feel like eating outdoors. I would say that it took a bit longer than I would have expected for three empanadas. Also, the dough was a bit bland and overly present. I loved that they had a variety of vegetarian/vegan options! I would definitely recommend ordering ahead, as I had to wait about 15 min for them to prepare my order. I only got 3 empanadas which seems like it should've been easy to make since they have a set menu but the place was also packed with people grabbing to-go orders and ordering at the window. I got the spinach and 3 cheese, spicy potato, and soy chorizo empanadas. All of them were super delicious but my favorite was probably the spicy potato! My least favorite was the spinach and 3 cheese since it was a little too cheesy for me. My biggest issue was the dough. I wish it was seasoned more or there was extra flavor in the filling to offset the blandness from the dough. The filling itself was packed with flavor and super delicious but when you bit into the whole empanada itself, the flavor kinda just went away with the extra dough in your mouth. Adding some of their salsas definitely would've helped but I didn't want to overshadow the empanadas themselves. It was all still pretty good but if that was corrected, these would be my favorite empanadas. Also, I thought it was super cute how they stamped their empanadas closed with their name around the edges. The inside is closed but if you ask, you can use their restroom. We drove out to Burbank specifically to try World Empanadas on a rainy Sunday afternoon, and it was totally worth the drive. They have a combo meal for $12 which gives you two empanadas, a soup or salad, and a drink. I got the soy chorizo and the biscuits and gravy empanadas, and the tortilla soup. I preferred the biscuits and gravy, but both were delicious. Partner got quinoa/lentil and the mushroom with cashew cheese, and she loved both of them. She also got a jamaica drink and was very please with it as well. We were told by someone later that their chimichurri sauce is amazing, but we didn't get any....not sure if we had to order separate, or if they only include it with certain empanadas. Street parking was pretty easy when we were there. There's no place to sit indoors, and because of the storm this past weekend, it seemed like they didn't put chairs out to sit outdoors, so we ended up taking our food elsewhere to consume. read more

I love "World Empanadas". The staff is amazing. Always serve with a smile. Very much appreciated. Every time I go into the valley, I make a point to stop at my favorite spots. This is one of them. There is a note that says "PATIO OPEN IN THE BACK". I didn't see where it was or how to get there. There is a street/alley on the back of the property that might be accessible if you walk around the block. Maybe I'll check it next time. This day, most people were just grabbing and leaving with their food. PARKING: 5 Plenty of street parking all around, including right out in front. I got two beef and one chile con carne. PROS: The place was clean and staff was friendly. Food was tasty and the crust was nice and flakey. The menu has a nice variety of empanadas to cater to a variety of taste buds. CONS: The wait for the food was longer than I had hoped. There is only outside seating. Although the food was tasty, it was just average for my taste. The biggest con for me was the price. $4.95 per empanada was insane for me. Like getting a box of truffles where there's an insert with names and pictures of each chocolate, the food at World Empanadas is stamped with a code and you're given a card showing what each one is. Before we picked up our order my husband was concerned he wouldn't be able to discern between his empanadas and my kids' porky ones as he doesn't eat pork. So this is good news for anyone ordering as a group, especially for anyone who has food allergies or is a vegetarian. I called in our order, just before closing. There's no eating area inside or outside - just a window - so we ate in the car. They are friendly and have a clean bathroom (a plus when you've been driving all day from the Bay Area). The spiciness of the Santa Fe Chicken (spicy shredded chicken) and Soy Chorizo (spicy soy chorizo with potato) was just right. They had a kick but weren't overwhelming. Excellent empanadas! My favorites are the spinach and cheese and chile con carne. These two are amazing and are a must here. The other types of empanadas did get kind of dry and some lacked sauciness but these two had the perfect amount. The beef empanadas were good but the olives in them were a little overpowering. If you don't like olives just be weary of that. The biscuits and gravy with sausage had a lot of flavor... dare I say, too much? It was too salty for me but the bits of gravy made it really tasty. I probably won't get this again but it wasn't bad. The spicy potato was a little disappointing (and my least favorite) because the cheese wasn't melted and you can still the cheese in its solid shredded form. This is honestly my favorite place to eat in Burbank! Every empanada flavor I've had has been flavorful and not too heavy. These are the best empanadas we've had. That ham and cheese empanada is absolutely addictive. I can't wait to get back and get it again.
