Shrimp & Pork Shui Mais #4: Freshly brought to the table, Mom and I both liked it. The Shui mais were soft and tender, topped with roe, delicious! We got our standard two orders, lol! 2. Shrimp Dumplings aka Haw Gow #3: Meaty shrimp fillings and the outer wrapper was also soft and tender. 3. Rice Beef Noodles #55: Hearty filling, and the flour roll is thick. Mom didn't like the soy sauce it came with - too sweet for her. 4. BBQ Pork Buns #46: Smaller than other dim sum places, but it was tender and meaty inside. We saw this come out last minute, and took it to go. 5. Salty Egg Custard Bun #49: Mom was annoyed and thought there was an actual salty egg inside, but instead, it oozed out like melted butter to her. I liked it - sweet and salty filling - messy, but a fun bun to eat for dessert :) 6. Braised Lobster with E-Fu Noodles $15.99 - Front Page: Fresh small lobster - sweet and firm tasting. Topped with tons of soft noodles. We both liked the lobster, but noodles and presentation were a mere after thought. 7. Brown Tripe with Satay Soy Sauce #2: What a joke!!! Pretty presentation, but only 5 pieces, ai-ya!!! NBC Restaurant makes it even better, and it's bigger too! Tea Charge: $1.50 per person. (We were charged $3.00 for two people). Service: Order as much as you can first because it's made fresh, and so it'll come out hella slow, especially, if you order more on the 2nd round. Hit and miss with some of the waiters, but the Managers are on point in getting the stuff you need. Overall, dim sum was decent, but I still like my push cart ladies. So many dim sum places around, and this is just like any other. The food is good most days, but the service is typically pretty slow. There have been times where we never received items we ordered, and other times where we waited forever. The parking lot is tiny so it's difficult to find parking sometimes. I feel like that very can be the review for all the dim sum places nearby. So until a better one comes along, this place is in rotation till something better comes along lol read more

We had a banquet set dinner for my Mom's birthday today. I actually had compared the menus from several other better Chinese restaurant in the area and found that they seemed to offer much higher end dishes for a similar price set. For example, others may have Soup of the day (for a $700 set dinner!), they have crab meat birds nest soup. They have a whole roast piglet plate, others have mix BBQ duck etc.. Others may have sea cucumber, they have whole abalones! So we decided to go with them based on that. And sure enough they did not disappoint. Everybody complimented about the fresh and high quality dishes, lobster, fresh steam fish etc. in addition to the aforementioned. Giving this place four stars for the food and some of the staff but I got that weird feeling when I was asked to pay my bill while waiting for my food to arrive. The young waitress said they wanted to close the register but yet this restaurant isn't closing until later on in the day, I took it as A) they might think I walk out since I'm not Asian or B) they are closing the lunch time register. Payed my bill and waited for my food to be brought out. Was late for the Dim Sum but the manager I believe he made me feel welcomed in bringing me some Har Gaw on the house besides the Siu Mai I had already ordered. I don't know how to review Dim Sum restaurants because everytime I go, my mom/older sister orders and pays for me LOL. But I'll just let you know the food here is good and the service was fast. $1.50 is charged per person for tea and the dishes are $2.98 on weekends (2.68 on weekdays) You ordered via paper, this isn't the regular cart pushing style dim sum. The menu has picture of each dish so for you non Chinese people, you can see what you're ordering if you've never been to dim sum before. Food came out pretty fast and tea is promptly filled when you open the top (to indicate you'r out of tea). The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday morning but we still got seat pretty quickly. The parking lot is TINY, but they have a parking dude who helps you park (I guess you would normally call this valet parking but it's free and the the dude doesn't even look like he's associated with the restaurant but still does the parking for you lmao) In summary, very crowded but good food :) read more

Came here in July for my niece 1 month party. Surprisingly the food was good. I decided to host my daughter 100th Days Celebration here. I ordered the exact same menu as my sister in law. To my disappointment, a couple of the dishes got altered. -Walnut shrimp dish became what appears to be battered shrimp with salted egg. -Fish dish, they use different type of fish than last time. One of my guests said the fish was undercooked and he had the run afterward. Another guest said that the fish was fishy. Another guest said the fish lack flavor. I learned that some of my guests have different type of fish than what I got on my table. This is bad business practice. I feel cheated. The manager of this restaurant should have been honest and tell us they cannot provide the same dish. Also, the waiter does not know how to cut the cake. He slice it side way that my guests end up eating cream and no cake. I had to bring home a lot of cake with strawberry that my guest had miss out. This review is strictly for their dimsum. I absolutely hate the parking situation here and it's nearly impossible to find parking in the day time. There is a parking structure, but it is hard to get in and out. Usually, I aim for street parking around this restaurant because it's easier to leave. For the food here, it is different than your normal dimsum. They have your steamed dishes and they don't have carts. They provide a piece of paper and you mark down the dishes that you like. I also really like that this place provides FRESH steamed dimsum and there is definitely a difference! The price might be a bit more expensive here than Ocean Star, but I think it's more worth it. My mom really likes the bittermelon cherng fun here, which is good. My uncle likes the short ribs that they have here as well. Try their dimsum here! Great place to get dim sum in Alhambra area. Parking can be very hectic on the weekends and the parking spots are very narrow. The service here is nothing to be bragged about. But the quality of food has been consistent through the past 4 years and I have no complaints. Their prices have been fair but ido miss when every item was 2 bucks. Now you do expect to get 3 buck items. The E Fu lobster noodles is a great choice if you feel like having any carb fillers. Just don't expect enormous lobster pieces. The parking situation is HORRENDOUS. I've been here on weekdays and weekends for dim sum, and for the average dim sum you get, the madhouse is not worth it. People are driving the wrong way on a one-way street into the parking lot, and lots of people double park. There is no parking attendant. The only reason I have come here more than once is because some of our family likes to come here. We usually get seated in one of the rooms in the back for a party of 11. There was plenty of space for us there. The dim sum and service are average. You order from a menu. I've had the har gow, siu mai, char siu bao, turnip cake, taro cake, fried taro dumpling, fried mochi and pork dumpling, chicken feet, tripe w/ ginger and onion, white sweet cake...basic dim sum dishes. Nothing really knocked my socks off, but the tripe did taste kinda weird. I remember this place two restaurant names ago... it certainly has gone through many ownerships and changes. I sure can say though that World Seafood is one of the better ones to have taken over... it's more comfortable to eat in and also looks more appealing to a consumer's eye. We arrived at 11 am and was seated immediately and someone came and took our tea order very quickly. They were very kind about my constant need for ice so props to that! Overall, I wouldn't say service is bad at all and they were really attentive and even switching out plates because there were too many bones etc. - the food was very delicious and I have to say I'm impressed. My favorite has to be their steamed yolk custard bun!!! It was flowing so freely once you break open that baby. I have to advise you to NOT bite into it once you see it arrive or you'll definitely burn yourself. Their chicken feet was also very delicious, steamed to a good texture and not too mushy the sauce is better than most places - "abalone sauce" in the Chinese writing on the menu. I especially enjoyed their rice rolls - it's quite hard to find a good place that makes a variety of rice rolls including my favorite: the chicken with bitter melon!! (I know, not everyone's favorite) Overall I would definitely come back. At first I thought the quality would be average because of the price -- but no, it definitely was higher quality. We ordered a variety of items like porridge, pork blood, siu mai, bbq pork buns, shanghai dumplings, etc. I would say to skip the minced pork and preserved egg porridge because the egg and pork was skimped, making the porridge bland. My friends loved the pork blood, so I believe it is worth a try. We ordered a chicken and sticky rice lotus wrap, but instead we got a joong. I was a little disappointed on getting something else, but honestly it did taste good so I guess I can't complain. Overall, I was overly satisfied and my stomach left the restaurant happy. Let's start off with the parking situation here. It's infuriating. There are two parts of the lot, with the one adjacent to the rear entrance being a complete nightmare. Cars are going every which way, making it an obstacle course to get out of the lot if you can't find a space. The other smaller lot is connected to it via a one way alley, so it's not really helpful. The reason I don't come here is because of the the stress of the parking. With that out of the way, the food is of decent quality. The har gou and siu mai (standard fare by which all dim sum places should be measured) were good. I liked the fact that they had good taste without being overly MSGed. The flat noodle with shrimp had good texture--smooth and soft. I did not like the taro cake at all. It was doughy and dry, with the chunks of taro being super hard. The custard buns were my favorite. The filling was a dark orange, egg yolky goodness. I wasn't careful biting into it and made a mess. I should mention that I was surprised by the short wait. It was Sunday late morning and I only waited for 10 minutes. Not sure if that was normal or not, but it kind of made up for the parking situation. This is also one of those dim sum places where you order from a menu, with an occasional lady walking around with several plates of specialty items. There are no carts here. read more

UPDATE 2: My family really likes coming here, so despite the previous bad experiences, I have come here several times since my last update and things seem to have really improved. Service has been quick and the food has been superb. Parking is still difficult, but if you enter from Valley Blvd, there is an alley way where additional parking spots are located. Typically, there'll be an empty spot or two in the alley. As always, I recommend the Beef Chang Fen and anything with the Golden Egg/Sand filling. The fried dim sum dishes here are pretty solid as well if they are fresh. UPDATE: Came here again on a Wednesday morning. Placed an order at 10:10am, within 10 minutes of opening. After asking several waiters and waitresses multiple times to check on the remaining 3 dishes, it still took until 10:45 for the last dish to arrive at the table. No explanation for the delay. One waiter that we asked to check on the dish told us that he would check on it and then proceeded to turn around and forget about it in less than 10 seconds. Seemingly, no improvement in customer service. Previous Review: Terrible customer service and wait time was ridiculous. Came here for dim sum on a Wednesday morning. Placed our order at 11:45. An hour later, the order was still not fully delivered. Asked a server where the last dish was and she said that they were steaming it and it would be out really quickly. When the order finally came ten minutes later (after having asked about it a second time), it wasn't even hot. If you're gonna have horrible service, at least don't lie to customers about what's happening. Don't piss on me and call it rain. Also, parking here is ridiculous. This restuarant was responsive to the phone and when I received the order, I was surprised how juicy the shao mai (shrimp and pork dumplings). The best thing was the price. Yes, they are doing in-door dining at 50% as of this writing. We have been here before COVID, and they had the most competitive pricing for dim sum. First up - they have always had a challenging parking situation! But in this COVID world, their Customer Service has gone downhill. It is hard enough that COVID wrecked the restaurant industry, and with all that bill-to-grandkids-money (aka "stimulus money") everyone is having a hard time finding quality employees. We came promptly at opening at 10AM. A group of ten of us. Gone are the push-carts for typical dim sum. This place has always had a fill-in sheet, so we also placed another full order to-go for relatives who could not make it. The food was hit-and-miss. The haigow skins had cloth-like lint stuck on some of them and the skins on most broke apart too easily (shows haste in cooking). They were not crowded at first compared to pre-COVID but it was obvious with the slow service their kitchen was overwhelmed. When we came to pay the bill, about an hour later, they said our to-go order was not ready, and would be another 20 minutes. 20 minutes came and went, they wheeled out multiple to-go orders for otehrs that came AFTER ours. So its obvious a lie they placed the to-go order when paid for it, and forgot about us. It was not until 11:45AM when we got our to-go order. You do the math. By this time, the parking lot was jam packed, and people were crowding around the cashier for their to-go orders. read more

And she said, " it's $1.50 per person and it's for water and tea" Mind you we were a party of 5 with 2 kids who do not drink tea.. so why did we get charged for 5 people??? Most dim sum places don't charge a "seating fee" but if they have extra pricing, they at least let us know! My friend and I ordered and it took forever for our food to come out. It was kind of like a sample taste event. They bring out one dish each 30 minutes just to tease you and wanting for more. The last item we ordered was the egg custard and it took 1 hour. We had to tell them several times that we were waiting on it. We finally received it and the egg custard was undercooked. The egg was still running. The manager said that it would take another hour to cool another one and asked for us to change to something else. But I really wanted it. So he checked the back and was able to find one. He should've checked the back first before asking us to change. After the incident he didn't even apologize for the wait. When we went up to pay we told the lady in the front what happened and she void the item out. Next time I'll just take it to go. It is definitely one of the busier dim sum restaurant in the area, but the employees do try their best to have you seated as soon as possible. Beware that their menu are simplistic, tick-the-box style without any images. It'll be helpful if you know what you want to eat based on the names. I had to Yelp and Google the dishes to see what they were. The food definitely is worth the minor inconveniences. I highly recommend the roasted pork plate. So this is my first posting and last posting for this place. First and foremost....yes there was confusion with our markings on the paper to order the food and the waiters interpretation(we got more than what was meant). The food descriptions on the menu were not very well written and lacking. Ordered stuff that I thought was one dish and came out another way. The parking for this place is awful . If you have a large full size pickup or suv don't bother bringing it....small parking lot with crazy drivers = you will road rage even if you are a patient driver....I'm glad I drive a full size pickup and people moved for fear I will 4x4 over their cars . Ok onward to the food and inside experience. The atmosphere here is bright and extremely loud if you're in one of the shared small rooms. People here are obnoxiously loud in their conversations and I get it, hard walls cause echoing and you must converse during a meal but to yell at people in your own table is poor manners. Also parents need to control their kids with their electronics and have them turn the audio down or off....I don't want to hear gun fire during a meal because your 5 year old didn't get their game/app taken away after 3 warnings. The wait staff was really bad...no where to be seen most times. We needed hot water for our tea pots and couldn't find a guy for what appeared to be an eternity, several times. Some of the utensils were dirty and bowls didn't look clean either. Pretty disgusting for a fairly new place. Food was ok, hit or miss for some dishes. The lobster Yee mien dish was bland, Lobster had great flavor but the noodles were totally bland and not flavored. Not sure what happened there. The other dishes didn't seem to be full flavored or really fatty like the steamed peppered short rib dish had a nice piece on top hiding fatty pieces below. The jasmine tea didn't even taste proper. We went for dinner on a Saturday night. It was packed so I'm glad we had made reservations for our party of eight. We got the King crab for $29.99 per pound. It was cooked 2 ways with the legs steamed in garlic and the body and shell cooked w/Salt, pepper, green onion and jalapenos. The legs were good but not too different than many other establishments. The body on the other hand was very good. The pieces were fried crisp on the outside but the meat was moist and sweet. The French filet mignon was very good too...very tender and flavorful. The sweet and sour ribs were not too good. They were dry and and hard to eat. We also order the snow pea shoots, walnut shrimps. The dishes ranged from about $12 to $16 per plate. They gifted use 1/2 of steamed chicken. When we asked if they had other options for dessert other than the standard red bean soup they gifted is two types of very tasty Chinese sweets. One was made from forbidden rice and the other was made from preserved yellow flower. The dishes are large and keep that in mind when ordering and we had a lot of leftovers. The bill was about $500 including tax and tip for a party of 8. The service was very good. They were attentive and friendly, The downside is the parking or lack of it. They actually had an employee outside trying to conduct traffic. He was nice enough to have be parking in the front but blocking other cars. He asked for my key but could not give me a slip for the key. All turned out well but it felt odd to give a guy my car key without a return slip. read more

Delicious food w/ Friendly staff We rolled in about 10 minutes before they stopped doing Dim Sum (Sunday it was 2:20 pm). Thet let us order and cooked things fairly quick. Lobster Yee Mein - limited quantites are available - this is ok, the lobster is wonderful, snappy and delicately salty. The noodles are kinda mush, so I'd kinda skip if you don't like lobster that much. You get half a lobster. Tofu skinned wrapped around mushroom and shrimp - delicious snappy shrimp and mushrooms along with a nice soft tofu skin. This one is served in soup, which I've never had before. The soup didn't really add much to the dish. BBQ Pork Bun - This is the white bun not the brown bun version. The BBQ pork is creamy and fatty in a good way. Definetly good, the bun is your normal soft correctly done bun. Shrimp Dumpling (Haw Gow) - Snappy shrimp, mmm so good. The skin is just the right thickness to not break, once you let it cool a little. Shrimp and Scallop Dumpling - same as Shrimp Dumpling, the scallop is overwhelmed by the shrimp, so stick with the Shrimp Dumplings Pork Dumpling (Shui Mai) - Good meatiness with a lil shrimp inside. Good texture, not tough and not mushy. Loved the little bit of fat rolling throughout. Soup and Meat Dumpling - Like mini soup dumplings. These are small but they actually have really good tasting meat and soup. One of them didn't have much soup, but the other 3 had a good amount to mix with the meat. If you charge this price, at least give better quality food. Not only that, but also their roast suckling pig is close to 350, which is almost 100 dollars more compared to other places.
