Visited this place while working close by and probably won't be back. While the service was great and the atmosphere is good for having a good lunch, sushi was a bit lackluster to the taste I'm used to for good sushi restaurant. While the pictures make the food look good, it was just average. The food was delivered quickly and again the service was great. But if I'm looking for good sushi will need to drive a bit further to get what I want.

Have been coming here for the past 3 years and the food is always delicious and the service is friendly, however, the service has been very slow each time, even when they aren't busy. They seem to always be understaffed, so be prepared to wait if you come here. Pro tip: get the OASIS AND SUNSET ROLLS

I don't know where to begin... stay away, stay far away. This is not real sushi, this is mediocre Americanized scam. From ordering a Togo box a couple years ago to now, it's a completely different experience in taste, quality, and experience. The location is fantastic, but the food is horrendous and I hate to say that the service is even worse. We had such an awful server that we didn't even leave a tip (I don't think I've ever don't that before). I don't know if they were on drugs, having a bad day, or just incompetent. I really wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and we were trying to be nice, but my patience was being tested and I couldn't wait to get out of there. Even if someone took you to eat here for free, do yourselves a favor and enjoy a meal anywhere else than here. I wish I knew someone who has been here before that could have given me that advice. I don't like leaving reviews like this but I need to warn other people the way I wish I was warned.

As a dine LA deal this one is really good!! They give you a ton of food and its so fun to have a bento box with all different things going on. My favorite was the spicy salmon and the salmon nigiri!! The fish was good. The drink is slightly on the sweeter side so i couldnt drink it. The service was great and the food came out at a great time. Ambience is very nice if you sit outside with the heaters and enjoy the night air. Lovely. Thanks Yakumi!

We decided to check out Yakumi during Dine LA week and were so glad we did! For just $25, you get an impressive set: 2 pieces each of yellowtail, salmon, and albacore sushi, plus 1 piece of tuna sushi. It also comes with cucumber salad, edamame, and your choice of two rolls. I chose the baked crab and classic salmon rolls. And to top it off, a mango lychee cocktail is included! Such a tasty and complete meal. You order at the counter, and they bring the food to your table. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but be aware they only have about four parking spots, so you may need to find street parking, which take a bit of patience during lunch hours. Service was quick and friendly. The server even offered a side of truffle soy sauce, which paired deliciously with the sushi. My husband ordered the Yakumi Roll, Crunchy Roll, and a side of albacore, and we both left full and happy. We'll definitely be back again soon!

I went for the DineLA dinner special which was $25 +tax/tip. I'm pretty sure this is just the Classic Yakumi Box with a cocktail. You got to choose 1 starter and any 2 classic rolls, and you also got a variety of nigiri and a cocktail. If you don't drink, you can substitute the cocktail for a mocktail. Overall, the food was good. The fish quality was great for the price, and I really liked the baked crab roll. The only thing I was not a fan of was the cucumber sunomono salad which was overly salty. There was ample seating both indoors and outdoors, and it was pretty easy to find street parking nearby. I know some people complained about slow service, but I didn't feel like I waited too long. However, I went for a late dinner, so there weren't as many people dining in. I could envision service being slower earlier in the night since there didn't seem to be very many workers. Yakumi is a nice casual sushi spot that I could see myself coming back to if I'm in the area. I would recommend it for people looking for something nice but not too fancy.

Really glad to discover this place through Dine LA! It was an incredible deal. Got 4 pieces from 2 different roles, 4 different single piece of nagiri, edemame, cucumber salad and a cocktail all for $25. I thought the sushi was very fresh. I gave it 4.srwrs due to slow service and there weren't a lot of people so not sure why. Parking was also a bit of a pain but if you go a couple blocks there are 2 hour free spots.

Visited during DineLA and really enjoyed my sushi combo order. Both the salmon roll & yellowtail jalapeño roll were delicious and they do not skimp on filling! Nigiri was also really good and will make it a point to try and come back soon. Space is a bit small but cozy with attentive wait staff.

My friends and I came for DineLA when their Yakumi box for 25 dollars and it was so worth it! The service is quick, simple, and easy. We also got to their lychee mango cocktail which was so good we couldn't even taste the alcohol. I love how customizable the box is with the amount of rolls there is to choose from. I had their salmon soy truffle, yellowtail jalapeno, albacore, spicy salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and baked crab roll. The salmon with soy truffle was definitely my favorite. Their salmon quality was great! My next favorite piece was the yellowtail jalapeño! The albacore was also melt in your mouth. Overall, I was truly impressed by the quality and quantity for the price. I will definitely be back if I'm craving sushi!

I came here for lunch for the DineLA menu. It was quiet at the start of opening, but we were helped right away. You order at the counter with the menu above on screens, then you are given a number for the table. It came with edamame and miso soup, sushi, and 2 rolls of your choice. The sushi is yellowtail, salmon, albacore, & shrimp. I picked spicy tuna and yellowtail jalapeño for my rolls. The sushi has great flavor and the whole thing was the perfect amount for lunch. We got the dine LA special which was a great deal, and they were able to make the included drink a mocktail. The fish tasted fresh and I enjoyed the seaweed salad. The baked crab roll seemed like it was partially imitation crab, I couldn't tell. The biggest issue was slow service. The first drink orders were quick but everything after that took forever. And it was really difficult to flag down servers. Maybe they were understaffed. I would have expected fresh sushi to have also been a faster turn around. We got there at 6, and got our food at 6:50. I don't think we were able to get our food order in until 6:15 or so. I'm not sure if I would go back because of the slow service.

This place was good - the quality of fish isn't as amazing as Sugarfish but it was still good. The pieces of fish were cut kinda thin. I loved loved loved the truffle soy sauce and the Yuzu salad then everything else was a smidge over average. read more

Honestly the best sushi we've had anywhere, save the super-expensive alternatives at a Matsuhisa or Nobu etc. Reasonably priced, super-fresh options here. Be sure and order their specials. We had a Salmon Poke roll that was other worldly. Nice outside seating area allows you to "lose the masks" with little concern. Service is fast and friendly. We cannot recommend this place more highly. The only downside for us is it requires a two-hour flight first to get there, but we'll definitely be back next time we're in the Valley or really, anywhere in the greater LA metro area. It's that good. read more

What a gem this place is! Delicious, quality sushi, beautifully presented. I normally don't enjoy mochi but theirs is exceptional. The place is incredibly clean with the cutest lil' patio, their service is excellent, and they even have sake mimosas! Definitely a fast favorite - I heard about them on the news when they were opening and I'm so glad I came in to give it a try. 10/10 would recommend to a friend. read more

I just moved to the area and was very excited to try this place. I ordered the yakumi combination and told the waitress I have a gluten allergy and to please not put any sauce or toppings on my sushi regardless if they're gluten free or not. When my food came it looked okay so I took a bite of the yellowtail sushi only to find the entire bottom of the plate and all the nigiri had sauce on them that looked like soy sauce which I cannot eat. I sent it back and kindly reminded them that I asked for no sauce so they took the food back and replaced it ONLY TO CHARGE US $7 FOR THE 1 PIECE OF SUSHI I ACCIDENTALLY ATE. They said because I ate the piece of fish they had to charge us and I explained I made it very clear when I ordered I did not want any sauce on my sushi because of my allergy. I've had my allergy for about 10 years and not once have I had an experience like this with such a careless staff who didn't even apologize for their mistake. read more

This place is awesome! I've come here a handful of times and each time, the service is outstanding. The staff is always super attentive and friendly, and very helpful. The restaurant is always sparkling clean, too. The sushi is great, simple, and always out super quickly! Love this concept for a sushi spot--it's so nice to be able to get a quick bite to eat and still feel like you're indulging a bit! Probably one of the best restaurant experiences I've had in a while. Came back to this place again months later and nothing has changed! Still awesome service from top to bottom and food was amazing. I love that we have something like this in the neighborhood and that they don't take any short cuts with food and service. The cashiers were so nice and the manager Perry not only greeted us, but checked on us and the rest of the tables regularly. Amazing experience and I'll keep recommending to friends and family! Sushi lunchables. Ordered The Light. $19 and still left hungry. The fish was so thin that you can see the rice through it. You can get a top quality roll for $19 at any legit sushi spot. Sushistop would charge half the price for slightly better quality. read more

Yakumi is awesome! I ordered to go, and the food came in a lovely little box, similar to what you'd get at Sugarfish. The sushi was great quality and super flavorful, much better than the fish you'd get at a comparable fast casual spot. It's right across from Sweetfin and another poke bowl place, and I think there's definitely bound to be some new competition in the neighborhood now! I'll definitely be back. read more

Went to Yakumi for an early dinner. It was our first visit and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Nice place with inside and outside seating. Our food came out quickly and the presentation was nice. I was with a party of six and we all were in agreement that the food and experience were very enjoyable. Well, we did give Yakumi a chance. We have been there a few times and each visit we left feeling unfulfilled. The quality, proportions an actual cost do not jive. The dishes are very small, lacking in flavor and very expensive considering the proportions. We like the look of the restaurant but everything else fell short. There are so many other sushi places within walking distance that is so much better in value and overall experience. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE I came here for my birthday dinner and Rory helped us out and was the sweetest as well as accommodating. We also met one of the owners Nicholas and he was so nice and genuine. Clearly their business model is to be a fast casual Sugarfish. Don't be fooled by the beautiful box and classy bag, the food quality just isn't there. I got the Yakumi box, and for $28, I would have expected either more sushi for the money, or better quality sushi. The fish was fishier tasting than many sushi restaurants, and I felt there should have been a few more pieces for the price. The rolls were ok, but not memorable. My review would have been better had the quantity or quality had been better but neither were there. If Yakumi spent a little less on their Instagramable packaging, it might make for a better experience. In the meantime, I'll go to Sushi House in Studio City where the fish quality is higher and I can get more sushi for the same money or just go to Sugarfish where I'll spend a little more but the food is supremely better. read more

Restaurant was very clean. If you are a normal sushi eater and know what to get, the pre made sushi packages probably won't be your thing. It's kind of setup like a cafeteria, go to the front, place your order and get your drinks, then go find a seat. While this is a subjective opinion, this wasn't really my kind of experience. It was also very expensive for what it was. read more

I only write a review when I'm extremely happy or extremely not. Unfortunately this place was a huge disappointment despite their 4stars. Their fish was old and dry and they didn't check on me once to make sure I had whatever I needed despite me being the only diner in their empty spot. An unexpected pleasant bonus is that a beer is included for only $1 when you order a bottle of Soju. Do yourself a favor: make sure to get rolls that include a variety of fish. Don't get similar rolls with the same protein. Snow Crab Cut Roll - 9.0 / 10 Baked real snow crab = inside Wrapped with soybean paper, house special bake sauce. You have to give major props when a sushi restaurant includes a roll with *real* snow crab legs. None of that fake crab stick / surimi. I wish more places could include real snow crab. The soybean paper is always a nice alternative to the more traditional seaweed wrapper. Forbidden Roll - 8.9 / 10 Shrimp tempura, spicy tuna, cucumber = Inside Topped with fresh salmon, crunch flakes, crab meat, eel sauce, & spicy mayo. If you were only going to get 1 sushi roll, it should be this one. It has the most variety of proteins in 1, single roll. It's not chaotic where the flavors & textures don't make sense. It works & I would gladly get this roll again. Salmon Spicy Scallop - 7.5 / 10 Spicy Scallop = inside Topped with fresh salmon. If you like scallops & salmon, this is a solid choice. Fresh Heaven - 5.7 / 10 3 Assorted fresh fish, crab meat, gobo, radish, + avocado = inside. Wrapped w/ cucumber, oriental goma sauce. The most aesthetically beautiful dish that we ordered, especially with the cucumber garnish + lovely flower. It's nice to know that cucumber can be used to wrap sushi. But it throws off the texture. I don't blame them. Fujiya is a cool, hip, & swanky (in the best possible way) Izakaya, but it's also not pretentious. The staff here want you to have a lovely dining experience with some innovative takes on some classic sushi rolls.

Their service was OK. Our server was a little confused but we had to clarify that we were doing the AYCE sushi here. A couple of pointers for the AYCE sushi available here is that they do serve full-size portions when it comes to the sushi rolls so do not expect a half portion of the roll so beware on how many you order. The quality on the fish with the carpaccio's is top-tier, though I will say so myself we ordered a variety from the salmon to the tuna and these were top-tier fish, rolls were pretty good too. We ordered a variety of appetizers. A cucumber salad is on point broiled mussels were pretty good. My mom ordered those, but I didn't try them, but she liked them have garlic chili edamame. It's $39.99 per person for AYCE if you're coming during lunch special hours which is from 11 AM to 3 PM it is $33.99 per person with limited options.

I'm kind of guessing on the exact contents because I couldn't find an actual description on either the menu or the restaurant's website. The soft shell crab was easily the best part of the combo, although that's admittedly a pretty low bar. The hand roll and baked crab pieces were passable. The California roll was more akin to something you'd find in a Ralph's grocery store sushi section than at an actual sushi restaurant. I also had the unfortunate experience of trying the salmon skin roll. The salmon skin may as well have been jerky. It didn't have that light crispness, but was extremely tough and not enjoyable at all. Definitely would pass on that. For basically $30 for this combo, I honestly think you're better off going to an actual sushi restaurant like Aikan. SushiStop is probably fine if you just want quick, cheap sushi, but if you're looking for a meal you'll genuinely enjoy, I'd probably recommend going elsewhere.

I checked out Yakumi after spotting it on the Dine LA list, and as a sushi lover, I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed! The dish we ordered had a great variety of fresh fish, and I loved getting to try different flavors in one sitting. The meal also came with a passion fruit cocktail, which was delicious--the perfect refreshing drink to pair with sushi. The service was quick and attentive, making the experience even better. The ambiance was laid back and it wasn't packed which was nice. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back to explore more of their menu. I've been a repeat customer at Yakumi Sushi, placing about eight orders in total, but my experience has been frustratingly "hit or miss." While some meals have been great, my recent takeout order was unfortunately a definite miss. The biggest issue was the rice. It was undercooked and completely lacked flavor, which, as any sushi lover knows, ruins the entire meal. This is the second time I've been disappointed with the quality of the rice, and it's frustrating to gamble on whether the meal will be up to par. I was pleasantly surprised with this sushi restaurant. It's a more casual dining concept from the owners of Sushi Roku and Katana. The decor is simple, modern, and located on a corner with a small parking lot. The sushi was fresh and the rolls had additional toppings like jalapeño and fried shallots that enhances the flavors very well. I also love that the sets include edamame and a salad that helps get my veggie fix in. The servers were helpful explaining the menu and were quick to get our orders. I have already eaten here about 5 times since they opened because that baked crab roll haunts my dreams. Gotta say, I'm pretty bummed about my recent sushi delivery orders - twice in a row, you guys forgot my wasabi, ginger, and chopsticks, even though I made it clear when placing the order. Not cool. I dropped 50 bucks each time, expecting a decent meal, but it's hard to enjoy sushi without the essentials. Am I right?!Seriously, can we get some attention to detail here?
