We came here for a family dinner after shopping at Costco. Great location for Costco shoppers! The restaurant itself was very clean. The waiter seemed inexperienced, but he was very courteous. We ordered different favors of dumplings, chicken noodle, pork noodle, and pork buns. All of them were pretty good. The only thing that bothers me was they actually only took cash, despite that there was a sign saying cash only for order less than $15. For the entire family, our order was around $67. Who would bring that much cash around? We paid them all the cash we had, so we tipped them much less than we normally do. Well, we almost ran out of our cash, we couldn't tip that much. Not worth your money for the food and service Second time to this restaurant and got even more disappointed... We ordered a special beef noodle soup, boiled shrimp/pork dumplings, and a pan fried mackerel and chives dumplings. The beef noodle soup was mediocre, nothing special. The shrimp/pork/chive dumplings were very salty. The pan fried dumplings looked like the steamed kind, didn't have the crispy golden brown fragrant pan fried bottom. The worse part was the attitude of the server who didn't even bother to come to our table when we asked to add the dish of pan fried dumplings. She just talked over the kitchen counter across the dining room where she was working, "what do you want, say it!", as if we were asking her for a favor, even though we were the only customers in the restaurant. Not coming back for sure. These people need to learn that patrons would be much more forgiving of their deficiencies if they were nice and friendly to the customers. This is a pretty small place on the corner of a strip mall. If you're expecting DTF or Dough Zone level of dumplings, you'll be disappointed, but otherwise it's not bad. The dumplings do have a thicker skin and don't seem to be as soupy. We were also given metal spoons (not chinese soup spoons) and for me that was a really weird way to eat the dumplings and catch the soup/vinegar without the soup spoon but whatever. We also got the noodle soup with chicken and it was really tasty. There was a lot of pepper in the soup but it was good on a cold winter day. Service was good and unobtrusive except for two visits by the server to see if we wanted anything else and to fill up our waters. I'm glad he also told us that you pay at the register at the front or else we might have been sitting there for a while. Overall it wasn't a bad experience, and I'd probably go back to try some of their buns. It's close enough to make it a regular spot, and there's plenty of parking. read more

I think they have to start taking credit cards to stay in business here in the Eastside I'm updating this. After sampling Northern Dumpling (ND) down the street, I had to have a comparison. The flavor of the meat was more on the chive end and less unique. The dough was more chewy than a gentle noodle texture. I did check if it was hand made on the menu but looked manufactured. Tender little dumplings in a cilantro-flavored beef broth was nothing short of heavenly. We also ordered a dozen vegetarian dumplings which were delicious, too. You can never go wrong with homemade dumplings, but the competition is stiff these days. Yang's is a small dumpling shop in a Kirkland strip mall after years in Lake Hills. They have nice variety of dumplings in boiled, steamed and pan fried versions. My last visit I got the Juicy Buns. I'm not sure if these are supposed to be XLB, but I'm gonna compare them to Dough Zone and DTF. First off the wrappers are much thicker, similar to pot sticker wrapper. In the past there was a lot of ripped skins, but this time everything arrived in tact. Secondly while there is a little soup inside the dumplings, it's not a whole lot. Some had a little, others had none. For sauce they have soy sauce, black vinegar and chili oil on the table. I was disappointed that they don't offer ginger for the dumplings. You get 12 in an order for $8.99, which is a pretty good value. These aren't the best dumplings, but good enough that I keep coming back every few years. Service varies from bare bones to rude. I've actually been turned away at the previous location because he said it would take too long to make the dumplings. I would say if you're in the area, Yang's would satisfy your dumpling cravings, but if you've got the time, take the 10-15 minute drive to DTF or Dough Zone. Worst restaurant experience I have ever had. Went in with some friends and the place was dead silent, the vibe was immediately off. The lady managing the place was incredibly cold and unwelcoming, to the point where she ignored customer's requests for utensils and just walked away. First - Yang is an amazing person with an incredible story. He had this business over on 154th years ago and the entire shopping center closed. He was put out of business and had to start completely over. He didn't think he was going to reopen at all when I called him back then to order only to find out they closed. I was very sad. I moved to LA and moved back to find that he did reopen, and I was so excited! Yes he doesn't speak English very well, but he tries hard to please, and his staff that run the restaurant most days when he is not there are also very friendly and courteous. Just be patient and kind, they are really good people. Growing in in Vancouver, BC, I am VERY picky about dumplings. Yangs' dumplings are authentic and delicious and I was SO glad when he started doing a pan fried option as they are even more tasty that way with a little soy and green onion to crisp them. HIGHLY RECOMMEND mmm. I agree the handmade noodle soup is light. Not a lot of flavor. I took it to go and added bouillon to it and it was perfect. The noodles are delicious and so is the beef. When his shop in Bellevue close over a year ago, my husband and I didn't know where else to go. The new shop in Kirkland is clean, homey, and spacious. It is conveniently located right off the highway, in a small strip mall where Mercurys Coffee is. Mr. Yang makes very deliciously authentic Chinese dumplings, buns, noodles, and Xiao long bao. Everything he makes fresh from scratch- including the dumpling wrappers and noodles- for very affordable price. He is always very generous with food portion. (Even the dumplings) They are not assembly-lined like Din Tai Fung so the two workers there have to work hard to make and serve.
