I was very excited to see the Yard House open near Fenway, I had visited one of their other locations in Vegas (had the surf & turf burger) and I loved it. Knowing that I liked their burgers I decided to try their Béarnaise Sliders. The Béarnaise sauce was delicious and it is similar to a hollandaise sauce, it went perfect with the crispy onions on the sliders. The flavor combination reminded me of the burger at Radius, although not as salty, which is a very high compliment. I also did their beer sampler, which was a little disapointing because they are all predetermined. It would be more fun if you could have picked them, especially since they have over 140 beers on tap. They also had one of my favorite belgian beers in stock, Brother Thelonius, I hope they keep it around or put it on tap. I have 3 small criticisms of the Yard House though: 1. The do not give prices on their beer 2. Depending on the beer the pour (amount) changes 3. For a place that focuses on craft beer they could give the alcohol content on each beer, as some go as high as 10% (which is equal to more than 3 bud lights). read more

Chains are held against a different set of criteria for a review. When placed up against my typical gold standard of a beer pub with righteous food (see: Lower Depths), the Yard House would pull a 3 star rating. Primarily because the appeal is scientifically proven - there are sociological and behavioral outcomes baked in to each winning component. That said, the Yard House works the formula well. Dozens and dozens and dozens of draft beers, with five (digital) chalkboard brews featured every day. Yes, Bud Light has a spot - it's Fenway fercrissakes. But for every fizzy piss water, there's a decent to stellar regional draught (sup Troeg's HopBack Amber) and as far as the all-over-the-map food menu is concerned, what I've had has been step-up fare. At the most recent juncture, the Blackened Tuna Burger quelled my need for a patty cake in the kisser with a 5oz seared juicy heap of ahi and spices on a potato bun. The side salad is mesclun with carrot shreds and tomato wedges, and the citrus soy vinaigrette is outright horrific (like a mouthful of lemonade sea water), but asking for a different dressing makes this substantial and otherwise satisfying meal a deal at $10 and change. Go ahead and cash in the BroCard if you must, but they also conveniently label all the meals under 600 calories. Said burger was one of them. The ultimate bump from middle running is the service which, when approached during non-Sox madness, is engaged and on point. Especially if you ride the hidden back bar with 10 or more friends, at which point you're king of the castle - all three TVs playing your picks, a dedicated server for all your ale quaffing needs and a winter-proof patio to laugh at bundled passers-by who aren't pounding yardies with Sully and the boys. read more

The only time I would go there is Mon-Fri 2-5 PM, when they have their happy hour and lunch special. The only thing I liked is the Chicken Jambalaya, jasmine rice with slices of chicken sausage, crawfish, topped with a jumbo shrimp. It was flavored very well, but was also a deviation from the traditional jambalaya since it was trying to be a high-end dish. The Chicken Nachos was a great deal. For $6 bucks we got a gigantic plate bigger than our faces combined. No go on the pizza tho, as the crust tasted like a 3 star recipe from allecipes.com. Very amateur crust baked in a pan, hard with a hint of unbaked dough smell. Wings, stick with the buffalo sauce, cuz the firecracker tasted like asian fusion gone wrong with tons of soy sauce. Sliders, keep it simple and get the classic. Our waitress said their Bearmaise sauce was kinda like 1000 island; him sounds interesting... But uh, yeah, didn't taste the tarragon, and it definitely didn't taste like 1000 island. Nothing but the egg taste. Good thing the fried onion in the sliders saved the dish. It's about the same price as Applebee's happy hour menu. If you want the atmosphere, come here. If you want great food, do Applebee's. read more

Giving Yardhouse 5 stars tonight because of the accommodating staff. I ordered a lemonade, and they were unable to make it because they were missing something, so I ordered a cappuccino instead. They were again unable to make a cappuccino because they were missing milk. After I settled for water, our waitress came back and let me know that the manager ran out to the store (it was 20 degrees tonight in downtown Boston) to grab more milk and lemonade so that they could make me a beverage I had ordered. They were SO NICE and willing to go the extra mile for their customers. Love this place and the staff. read more

Came here to celebrate a friend getting his PhD. Yay Nate!! Service was awesome, and so was the food! We ordered egg rolls, truffle fries, and guac with chips. You've heard about the mammoth beer list, the half-yards and the small army of staff they employ on a daily basis. My take? You should go experience it for yourself, especially if you haven't already, because it's all true and then some. Somehow, Yardhouse manages to mass produce their menu items, uphold the longest on-tap list I've ever seen, and provide quality service at a more-than-reasonable price, given the locale it's stashed away in. And the huge 8-person booths are a big plus for large parties. I recently rolled in 8 people deep and waited just 10 minutes for a table on a Friday night. I've been a half-dozen or so times now, and here's what I'd consider to be the finer points of this new-to-Fenway spot: Half-Yards, Chicken Nachos, Moo Shu Egg Rolls, Spicy Chicken Breast Sandwich, House Hefewisen, Rose Gaarden, Dogfish Head Namaste, Fransiskaner Hefe-Weissen, Outside Fire-Pit bar, Accommodating staff. ...and I'm looking to expand that list. read more

Love this place! Had the veggie burger. It was excellent, juicy and flavorful, not dry or mushy like at some places. We went to the one by Fenway. Very lively atmosphere before a Sox game. Nice selection of beers. Major tip: they don't take reservations and they get extremely crowded before gametime. You can call in the morning and put yourself on the waitlist which apparently gets you in more quickly. It's not a reservation but we got in right away. Suggestion: If you are going before a ball game get there around 5:30. Don't wait until six because you'll probably miss part of the game, unless you don't mind given the way the Red Sox are playing lately. read more

I've been here a few times and this is the first time I am writing about it. The experience was nice, going out with a few friends. We ordered a bunch of stuff and it tasted really good. My favorite drink so far is the Woodchuck Pear Cider. Its very light so that was perfect for me. The food was delicious and our waitress was nice but she also forgot our water. Their onion rings are one of the best I've ever had. It was sooooo good!! and so worth it. It's hard to eat the lettuce wraps because the lettuce was so wet still and wasn't drained so it was such a mess. The other items I liked were the sliders, both classic and pastrami. The french fries were also very yummy. For an extra $1 you can get it seasoned with some oil which I already forgotten the name. Will need to update this when I remember. (oops!) I didn't like the mooshi avocado egg roll or whatever it was called. It was greasy and didn't taste good at all. So, service was sorta ok but it does hurt the wallet a bit, being a sports bar of what seems to be a higher end place than other places in the same area. Nice place to go for games or simply gathering! We went there for the Super Bowl yesterday around 5:00. It was the fourth bar we had visited yesterday to grab a seat. We were lucky to have a table here though we waited for 15 mins. The place is pretty huge and full of tables. So actually u don't have to worry about "nothing left." (Quoted from other bars' desk girls) Our waitress Natasha was awesome! She is very helpful and sweet. I asked her for advice on beer and she gave me two tiny samples that she recommended. It turned out I don't like it though. The food was good but the truffle fries was cold at first and Natasha fixed it. I can understand its Super Bowl Sunday and they are way too busy to take care of everything. Anyways, I would recommend the chicken stripes (comes with fries) and summer salad. I had a snack size portion of garlic shiitake mushrooms which were awesome, excellent portion size. Could easily be a small entree. I came in with a group of 12 on a slow Friday night and we put in drink orders immediately. It took them 20 minutes to get us our drinks, and mine never came. Great spot for good brews and a great outdoor area with bonfires. They have one of the largest draft beer selection for a bar. They also have a tall glass for those with a big brew appetite. Food is decent, better than a lot of bars, but definitely not a place that you need to go to check out specifically just cuz of its good food. The big knock on this place is the service. Servers can be rude, and definitely very slow. Some servers seem to rather spending their time checking out their phones than servicing customers, and we didn't get checked on much and had empty glasses of beers/water for a long period of time before we can put in another round. I came to Yardhouse on a Wednesday night for the Happy Hour Deal which gave me 1/2 price apps and pizza after 10pm. The normal price for the items ranged from $11-$16. I thought that the deal provided a great value. The bar is huge so you can probably find a seat, but I chose a high top table with views of the TV's. The best surprise were the chicken lettuce wraps. The chicken had good flavor and the sauces were pretty tasty. I was pretty satisfied with the rest of the dishes - good comfort food. The waitress could have been more attentive as we had empty drinks sitting for a while and had to hail down someone else for a refill. I've been here twice since moving to Boston and both times I got a vegan burger, which is easily the best burger I've ever had. Ahh...Yard House has finally made its way to Boston! The happy hour deals here are the best I've seen yet with a sweet variety of sliders, pizzas and appetizers for an absolute steal. My friend and I came for some late afternoon nommage + beer and not surprisingly, the place was still bustling. We started with the Mac & Cheese (loved the chicken and bacon, but overall a bit bland) and Fried Calamari (standard stuff) and then moved onto the Seared Ahi Sandwich and Hawaiian Burger. The sandwich was good, but man that burger was delicious! I wasn't expecting too much since it was cooked medium well, but the patty just fell apart in my mouth - so tender! As everyone has already said, the tap list is indeed extensive. Forgot to ask about the seasonal offerings this time, but I'll take care of that on my next happy hour visit =D read more

I've had consistently great and friendly service every time I've been here and one time, the server was thoughtful enough to introduce a new server since his shift was ending. Smooth transitioning - I like. The street tacos go good with beer. Well, pretty much the entire menu does, but I enjoyed the Hongos y Rajas and the Grilled Korean Pork Belly. And I like that you can customize and get whatever mix of tacos you want! My friend's go to is the mac and cheese with truffle oil, bacon, and mushrooms - not bad. The ahi crunchy is delicious and they have solid wings here, too. The beer menu is extensive and it's awesome that they have super light and fruity beers - more my style, especially because I had a hard workout the next morning and I just don't recover like I used to. Yardhouse is the perfect spot for huge groups and their booths seat at least 8 - hollah! The back patio and bar is a sweet spot for hanging out when the weather's nice. I've never had to wait 40 minutes for a table before at other Yard House locations, but I did when I came for happy hour on a game day. It was my brother's birthday, and we wanted to grab a quick bite because he had to go out of town that night. We sat on the patio, which had ceiling fans and outdoor heaters to keep us at a comfortable temperature. We had seared ahi sashimi, moo shoo egg rolls, blue crab cakes, and a margherita pizza. I also had a pint of the Ace pineapple cider, but our server informed us that there are unfortunately no happy hour discounts on drinks in their Boston location. I've been to Yard House locations in California and Florida that usually had drink specials during happy hour. Regardless, the cider was good, and the food was descent. The pizza was a bit garlicky for my taste and the crab cakes aren't exactly gourmet, but everything was decent overall. Our waitress offered my brother a birthday dessert, and he chose a lemon cake. It was pretty busy with sports fans everywhere, and she mistakenly brought chocolate. The mini chocolate souffle cake that was nice and warm with vanilla ice cream on top, served on a plate with "Happy Birthday" sprinkled with cocoa powder, and we still liked it. However, she came back shortly and apologized. We said it wasn't a big deal and that the chocolate was good, but she firmly replied, "It's your birthday and you already can't drink; you're getting your lemon!" I thought that was sweet of her to remember--at the start of the meal, she had inquired why my brother wasn't getting a drink on his birthday and he told her it was because he unfortunately had a 4 hour drive ahead of him after we ate. So she brought back a mini lemon souffle cake topped with raspberries and whipped cream, and it was pretty cute with the sprig of mint and everything. She came by again before we left and wished him a happy birthday and a safe drive. The food here was on par with other Yard House locations, but it's the little personal touches that made me enjoy my visit. Our server was cheerful and attentive as she recommended different ciders to me and remembered the small details that we told her about our day. There was a dude standing by the entrance to the patio just being all stoic and watchful--I assume he was there just making sure none of the patrons got too rowdy, since there was a ton of beer floating around as people were hanging out before the game. Upon entering the restaurant, we were asked for IDs and given wristbands so that waiters wouldn't have to card each person ordering a drink--this is the first Yard House location that I've seen this done at. Even though YH is a chain, this location seemed rather efficient but still very friendly, despite the fact that the servers must be exhausted running back and forth while it was so packed. Came here on a Friday night. It was most definitely a full house, you couldn't even find seats at the bar. The front staff informed us it was a 30 min wait. I think we waited only 15 mins which was great. Our service was wonderful. Our waitress did a great job. She was very understanding that we might be there longer than per say. (Girls catch up night indeed!) About 2 hours later she asked us if we wanted the check, which I believe is her subtle way of giving us the boot. Food is good. They have so much variety on their menu, it make my indecisiveness that much worse. The truffle fries are my go to starter. It's pretty yum! Calamari, spinach dip, and wings are also delicious. I'm not too fond of their nachos though. The black truffle burger is pretty tasty. The street tacos are decent. It comes with two but you have the option to add more. The only downside for me was their drinks. They were pretty weak. All I could taste is fruit juice no matter what cocktail I ordered. Side note: Do not drive here on a game night. Great place with a fun, vibrant, atmosphere! Being just down the street from Fenway it is frequented by baseball fans before and during the games. As such I would recommend making a reservation if you want to sit down and eat without a 45 minute wait. However, there is also extensive bar seating with TVs and a seat yourself patio area where table service is also offered. Definite pluses to this already great restaurant! Extensive beer and drink menu. Food menu has many options for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike. Ordered the baja fish tacos meal that came with rice and beans and it was the perfect amount of food and definitely well priced. All of the other meals I saw being carried around were just as delicious looking. The atmosphere was fun and exciting with most people going to the game after their meal or watching the game at the bar. This is maybe the hardest review I've ever had to write. This review, once posted, will make 667 reviews for Yard House :( That said, the Gardein menu here is maybe the best thing for vegetarian bar food I've seen. There are a few veganable items (I'm vegan) on that menu and the staff made it pretty easy for me to find out what those options were. They have a great beer selection, obvs, and everyone was friendly, quick, and they got everything right. They were kind enough to switch one of there many TVs to World Cup highlights so I could catch those highlights and the Phenoms series they run. I have never been to the Yardhouse in Legacy Place, as there has always been a 2-hour wait when I've tried. Since the Fenway location opened, my friends have made it their new favorite spot, but I hadn't been able to join them. Until a few weeks ago, when we threw a little "bridal shower" for one of them. My first thought upon entering was "wow, this place is huge! And dark..." Luckily, although they had a huge party coming in a bit later than us, we were still able to reserve part of the covered patio. It is quite loud, but you're not coming here for a quiet, romantic dinner. Most of the tables/people at the bars (yes, there are 2 - one inside, one outside) are there to watch a game, grab a drink after work or just enjoy some tasty food with friends. The staff and managers are so accommodating! We shifted around our tables at least twice and they didn't bat an eye. Food-wise, the pizza was eh, but everything else is great. Sliders, fries, egg rolls, nachos. YUM. And I love that they have all the nutritional information online. I will definitely be back for some Happy Hour drinks and bites. read more

We visited the Yard House before a Red Sox game. We have done this before and always a good time. We had the steak grinder with sweet potato fries, and cod fish sandwich with fries. The steak sandwich was great, the fries were served on the cold side, and the cod fish was a bit more fried than I like, but it was still good. The beer choices were outstanding. Our waiter, Jimmy, was great and suggested some great beers after asking what we typically liked. We could not say enough good things about him. read more
