Out running some errands and decided to hit up Yats Grandview. I THOUGHT it was Abby working BUT it was actually Kat working today, she has been working there 6-7 years. I ordered a half Chicken Maque Choux and half Spinach and Mushroom Etouffee. OMG!!! The Chicken Maque Choux has some nice tender chicken and corn with a smooth creamy sauce. It's to die for. The other half was a creamy vegetarian roux based sauce with mushrooms and spinach blended with green curry and a blend of other spices. And of course I had to have a double order of the buttered bread. Yummy!!! Another plus this time was meeting another one of their team Kat, she been with them for 6-7 years. Another one of the great employees that Jason/Abbey have turned out. If you get a chance you have to stop in and taste some really phenomenal tasting food.

Their magic bread is where it's at. Go ahead and splurge on an extra slice. You won't regret it. It's one of the last places for true quick gumbo - there are always two vegetarian options on the board. I really enjoy that they offer Crystal (Krystal?) hot sauce... That will trip you down to the south for sure :-)

Flavor Over Fire, and I'm Not Mad About It Got the Drunken Chicken and Maque Choux delivered because my couch said, "Let the good times roll... without moving." Food showed up hotter than my motivation on a Monday (which is saying something). The sauce was creamy, smooth, and rich--basically the Barry White of Cajun cuisine. And while it didn't light my mouth on fire, it did seduce my taste buds with flavor. Think "New Orleans charm" without the spice-induced identity crisis. Drunken Chicken? Comfort food that tastes like it knows my secrets. Maque Choux? Corn so good it should have its own fan club. Spice level? Mild. Flavor level? Maximum. I'm not sweating, but I am impressed.

Our first visit to the brick and mortar store but have eaten at the food truck and it was delicious. The store didn't disappoint. We easily ordered online and the pickup was ready as soon as we walked in. The dishes were hot and had great flavor. I loved the chicken and my husband really enjoyed his side by side with red beans and rice and Gumbo.

My friend looovvveessss Yats. She's vegetarian so her experience is going to be different from a meat eater like myself lol. When I got there, it was empty. One person ahead of me was ordering takeout. More people trickled in throughout the evening, but it never got busy. I told the guy at the counter that it was my first time there, so he told me to do the half and half to try two different things. I went with his two suggestions: drunken chicken and the chili cheese etouffe with crawfish. My food came out so fast! It was hot, so I waited to eat until my friend got her food. She ordered the vegan white chili and the mushroom and spinach etouffe. You can add Cajun seasoning and any hot sauces to it. They have them sitting out on a table to use. The sauces and the seasoning helped to flavor the dishes as they weren't that flavorful themselves. The portions were large as well! I was pretty full by the end. Overall, it's not authentic. But they are New Orleans-inspired, so it's their own take on the food you can get down there. It's not bad for what you're getting. But just know it won't taste like what you've eaten down in NOLA. The star of the show was the bread. Delicious! It had a wonderful seasoned butter on it. So so good!!

I love supporting small local businesses and Yats is one of them. A lot larger of a sit in section that I expected. You have a wide variety of creale cuisines to choose from (gumbo, red beans and rice etc) that comes with rice and you can add garlic bread (super buttery and seasoned). Comfort delicious food perfect for an easy but home cooked feel food.

I'm actually a little bummed they didn't have shrimp and grits. Isn't that a top Cajun dish? Or is that just a thing in New Orleans? All they had were things to put over white rice. I got the red beans and sausage. The food was fine, though it could have had a lot more spice. Adding red hot didn't seem to help much. I'll be back a second time. Maybe they'll have a more varied menu. I really liked the design of the place and how open and refreshing it felt. The communal rows are nice. And service was good as the owner/ chef was genuinely interested if I liked the food.

This is one of my favorite spots in Columbus. Service is good. No waiters or anything, just one at the register one in the back usually. Order your food and you'll have it in a few minutes. Clean up after yourself please! The taste of some of these dishes will knock you on your ass. I use to eat a little bit of everything on their menu, but since the drunken chicken came out a few years back, I can't part ways with it. There's so much going on I really can't even explain why it's so good, but it just is. And ALWAYS treat yourself to that extra bread. EDIT: although this is "Cajun/creole," do not be worried about spice. These dishes are not spicy. The taste is great, but they leave the spice to you with multiple types of hot sauce.

Is this the same place that was in the short north a few years back? Menu looks similar.

Justin at Delevee worked at the original Yats in Indy before he opened his restaurant on High Street so yes the menus are very similar (wink wink)

Firstly, the quality of the food was exceptional, which is fundamentally what a diner should deliver. We ordered a DK glazed donut, which met expectations, and I chose the Meat & Cheese omelet, which was comparable to other diner offerings. My husband ordered a skillet dish, which he reported as satisfactory. Although visually unremarkable, the taste was commendable. However, the service was disappointing and almost non-existent. During a busy period, there was no hostess apparent, forcing us to inquire at the cashier area about seating. They took our contact information, and shortly afterward, our table was ready. We were seated and provided menus, but the wait for a server to take our order was excessively long. It was indicated that coffee was self-serve and that customers should select their own mug. Subsequently, we observed no further service at our table, and the food was delivered by staff members elsewhere. I had to locate condiments independently. After finishing our meal, we returned to the cashier to settle our bill, which was not presented to us. The seating area within the diner is small, which is expected given the establishment's size. One additional concern is parking: the lot accommodates approximately seven vehicles, and street parking in Grandview Heights is limited. This constrains accessibility and could diminish visitors' overall experience in the area. It is hoped that in the future, the service at this establishment will align with the high quality of its cuisine.

We waited over an hour. In this hour, we saw the same hostess that told us we needed to wait for a seat at the bar/bar table tell another couple they could sit at the open table. When I asked her about it, she said "oh sorry, your table will be ready soon." This was pretty disappointing. We finally sat in the back room about 30 min after our scheduled reservation and never got a drink at the bar. Dinner was good. The rolls were great. For breakfast, we ordered two Mushroom Frittatas, a Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, and a side of Housemade Breakfast Sausage. The Mushroom Frittata featured three hearth-baked eggs with roasted mushrooms, sweet onions, and Gruyère cheese, served alongside breakfast potatoes and a peppery arugula salad. It was flavorful, hearty, and incredibly satisfying. Although I informed the staff about my peanut allergy, I was surprised to find the crispy breakfast potatoes on my plate, which left me uncertain whether the allergy request had been fully communicated to the kitchen. The Fresh Buttermilk Biscuit, served with strawberry preserves, was one of the highlights of the meal. It was flaky, buttery, and wonderfully moist, pairing perfectly with the sweet preserves. The Housemade Breakfast Sausage consisted of two peppery pork patties that were juicy and well-seasoned, making a great accompaniment to the rest of the meal. Overall, we enjoyed a delicious and filling breakfast with fresh, high-quality ingredients. While I wish the coffee station had been monitored more closely and that greater care had been taken regarding my food allergy, the Mushroom Frittata and fresh biscuit alone make Northstar Café worth returning to.
