There's a reason there is always a line out the door. This is truly the best froyo in the county. It's located in a strip mall deep in the heart of El Cajon at a very noticeable tall white building formerly known as the "leaning tower of pizza". Now it stands painted white with the words "yogurt mill". You can't miss it. Inside is very chummy. A small circular room that's very reminiscent of a old timey ice cream parlor. When it's busy you aren't likely to find a spot to sit inside, but they do make it easy to package your froyo to go if you wanted to! Sizes come in a variety of cups but you get the most bang for your buck at Yogurt mill. Extremely generous serving sizes. We noticed when we ordered a few toppings (like strawberries) that take up a lot of space, our server ended up putting our smaller cup into a big cup to continue stacking the toppings on. The frozen yogurt itself comes in a variety of flavors that rotate daily. You can choose a number of available flavors to add to a single serving size. Personal favorites so far are Lemon and Banana. The sugar level is also perfect (not too sweet, not too underwhelming). Flavoring is ON point, I'm not sure what they do with the lemon froyo but they should continue doing it. Our group recently got a banana split and a child's size froyo and both got scored a solid 10/10 from everyone. When we came there was a long line as it was peak Summer hours and it was HOT outside but man-ooh-man was the wait worth it. Just look at the size of that "child's size!" The only downside is they only accept cash (no debit, no credit card, no app), however, the prices and value are worth the extra ATM trip. read more

Yesterday was National Frozen Yogurt Day and I went to this yogurt place that has been in business for almost 50 years (since 1977). They have many flavors and their yogurts are flavorful and not too sweet. The service is excellent. Its price is reasonable. Small, but very crowded. My Grandma took me to try this hidden gem out . All the boys were very nice and eager to help. The Caucasian man with freckles was very nice and had great customer service . I've lived in SD my whole life ( I'm 32 ) and have not heard of this place till this year!! I'm ashamed. They have fun flavors which they change everyday. The staff here are wonderful. You can try any flavor, and they won't rush you -which I appreciate. There is always a long line whenever me and my family go, but totally worth the 20-25 minute wait. They only accept cash so just keep that in mind as far as toppings go, I wish they had more traditional toppings like mochi and boba but there welcoming vibe and awesome sizing for a great price, makes up for that. Came on a Sunday at around 4 PM and there was a line out the door for yogurt! This place is famous in El Cajon and there's a giant landmark on top of the building. There's plenty of seating and customer service was great. It had really good reviews and they also have BOGO coupons apparently. It's cash only so you know it's going to be good. They carry standard flavors here and the portion sizes are gigantic. We got the child size for $7.60 and it was almost more than enough for 2 people. Most of the flavors we sampled were on the sweeter side but Dole Raspberry was more on the tart side so that's what we ended up getting. Can't wait to come here again! read more

My family and I are regulars at Yogurt Mill and usually enjoy our visits. The first time I ever visited Yogurt Mill was as a child on a field trip. Today, however, was a frustrating experience. As expected on a Saturday, the line was very long -- I waited about an hour. But when it was finally my turn, I was told that the two flavors we specifically came for had just run out. I quickly pulled out my phone to update my family on the change, and one of the employees told me to let the next person go ahead. That felt unfair, especially after standing in line for so long. I completely understand they were busy, but I was only going to take a few seconds -- something that could've been avoided if they had communicated about the flavor shortages earlier. They don't notify customers when a flavor runs out -- they just quietly remove the sticker from the wall, so you don't know until you're already inside. It would be really helpful if they let people in line know ahead of time. On the plus side, I usually receive two coupons for buy-one-get-one-free child's cups, which is nice. But even with the deal, $8.50 for a child's cup feels overpriced. I've also stopped getting toppings because they're $2.50 each, which adds up quickly. I do enjoy the building's aesthetic and the overall vibe, but it can get very cramped -- especially during busy times. The line often wraps around the back of nearby stores, and you stand very close to other people, ESPECIALLY when you're about to go in. I still enjoy the yogurt and some of the flavors, but I really hope they improve communication, crowd control, and pricing. read more

I enjoy the flavors. I stood to the right to view the toppings. The long red haired female told me to stand in the middle with her hands as if I am in prison. There was hardly anyone in the place. I let her know I was viewing the toppings (she was the one who was naming them off). If i stand in the middle I won't see the toppings. This was very upsetting. We drove 25 mins in traffic from Downtown San Diego to get here because of their BOGO promo. Note: you have to print out their coupon because they don't take digital ones! Also bring cash because they don't take cards. This is the sort of place that I can imagine bringing my future children to. Kids and adults alike would love their HUGE serving. We only got the third largest option which could be easily shared by two people. It was $6 however I believe I added $2.75 for picking two toppings. This is such a hidden gem. I heard about this place and drove over 30+ minutes to try it. The exterior is adorable and super prominent. I like how cheap the prices are for the big servings. The inside is super small and crowded, but the workers are efficient. I like how the flavors change every day. Love the yogurt but they are not allergy friendly. They use the same scooper for all the dry toppings therefor causing cross contamination. We have a gluten allergy and got very sick. It would be awesome if they could use toppings from a different area with a different scooper so that everyone can enjoy their food. Also, so much time is spent with the employees chatting and flirting with people that the lines are horribly long like over an hour long in the direct sun.
