    Yakgwa and eumryo for dessert

Would be a 5 star easily, BUT we didn't get everything on the $77.99 menu. No jook, no kaesung namul, no jangeo gui, no jeon. Also, the Royal sinseonllo was supposed to have beef but it did not. That's 4 things missing from the most expensive menu! However, most of the food we had was delicious. The hot tea was great, light pink in color. We were first served the steamed pork which was served with kimchi and radish. It was great! Next were the sea scallops which were absolutely exquisite. One of the best bites of the night. Their speciality bossam kimchi was amazing, effervescent and fresh. Loved it so much, one of the best kimchis I've had. The jelly fish salad was not great... tasted like a farm? The thousand year egg was good though, but the beef on the plate was flavorless. It was served with a mini piece of meat which I'm not sure what it was, but also flavorless. Royal sinseonllo was delicious, a very light veggie broth with two little veggie dumplings. Black cod was another highlight. The egg battered prawn was ok :) Gujeolpan was made table side, super yummy! It's what comes to mind when I think of Korean royal court cuisine. The grilled Galbi short rib was to die for. Melted in your mouth! We opted for the doenjang jjigae and scorched rice "soup" which were amazing as well. The meal was finished with a traditional Korean cookie, yakgwa, and eumryo punch. That cookie... amazing!

My wife and I took our friend Tony to Yong Su San for his birthday. We were happy to learn that we had our own, private dining room (without reservations). As first, we were confused because the restaurant does not have "appetizers," but we soon learned they have a large selection of "sides" that can be considered appetizers. Another piece of advice (courtesy of Tony): the Korean Punch is a drink that is customarily served after the meal to aid in digestion (although you can request that it be served earlier).

Yong Su San has its own parking 2 dollars for lunch 3 dollars for dinner. The restaurant has a lot of small and large rooms. We went with three people and ordered a Fix Price multi course meal. Cost is about 71 a person. You will need to come hungry and with an open mind. The food kept on coming We had fish shellfish vegetables kimchi each dish better. Then the last A very unique experience. Food is available also alacarte

Delicious authentic korean food with great service...who can complain? Our group of 9 was seated in a private room which was nice for conversations. The detail on the food decor was a 10/10 and the taste met the visual aesthetics of the dishes. I would highly recommend for special events, larger groups or even for when you're just craving good, clean korean food.

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday dinner and we got the $72pp 8-9 course meal. Food: The meals were all very delicious and, as someone who isn't Korean, it lets you try a wide variety of different dishes you otherwise wouldn't have ordered. My favorites were the marinated tender short rib and the soup! I only wish the scallop skewers and fish came out hot (it had cooled down by the time she served it to us). Service: We were served by one lady who only spoke in Korean with us because my boyfriend ordered in Korean. The courses came out promptly and she was attentive in making sure our waters were always filled and we never needed to press on the service button. Ambiance: It is definitely a fancier place to get Korean food relative to other places in LA. The tables are all in smaller rooms to give you privacy with your party, which I liked. The party next door had a huge group of adults who were drinking and talking loudly, making the space feel more casual. We went on a Saturday evening, so maybe it was just busier and attracted larger parties then. Parking: It's LA-- and it's Koreatown. Expect to leave your car with the valet ($4) or spend too long attempting to find street parking.

Took photos for a grandma's 100th birthday here and it was such a smooth experience. Valet parking provided outside. It was a buffet and the food was so good. Full service provided.

Celebrated my mother's 80th birthday here and we couldn't have chosen a better restaurant. Having our own perfectly sized room for our group of 12 was so intimate and so amazing especially when my son broke out in dance. Haha! So fun! The food was coursed and everything was delicious. You can tell they really pay attention to details in the kitchen. And when we realized we forgot the candles for our cake they had a drawer full of candles to save the day. Thank you Yong Su San for being the perfect place for our Korean family's special celebration.

4.5/5 stars - Came here on a Sunday evening and there was no wait. This spot is unique because it offers Hanjeonsik (Korean traditional course meal). We each chose the $72.99 course meal. It was so fun to try a variety of different dishes! My fave was the galbijjim. It was so flavorful and tender and just perfect! I also really enjoyed the bossam - super tender and fatty. The sea scallops and the eel were also tender and very enjoyable. The black cod was crazy tender, but had a ton of bones in it. I liked trying the gujeolpan (kind of like crepes). The presentation was beautiful, but taste-wise wasn't super impressed. I could barely taste any of the filling. Everything else was quite enjoyable. Service was great. Our waitress showed us how to eat certain dishes and even put the gujeolpan together for us. My least fave was probs the cabbage kimchi. It was too spicy, and I didn't see any seafood in it. Overall, we enjoyed the food and experience here! It's pricey, but great for special occasions.

I had the pleasure of dining in one of their private rooms, and the intimate, relaxed atmosphere made the experience truly special. The decor was comfortable, and the staff made us feel right at home. Every dish we tried was delicious flavors

3/17/2022 OVERALL IMPRESSIONS & FOOD This is a review for Monday's lunch. It was for my mom's birthday and we've decided on the Traditional Korean Prefix Meal. There are two kinds of prefix meal that you can choose from. We chose from the Chung Table D'Hote. Every course was delicious. The only course I did not like was the Jeong-gol, which was the vegetable and ricecake soup. It was very bland and unmemorable. The overall meal was not a heavy, yet you left satisfied. My favorite of the course was the Kaesung Namul, Tang Pyeung Chae, Egg Battered King Prawn, Japchae, Galbijjim and Traditional Korean Punch. It's been a while since I've last dined here and sadly the pandemic has changed the restaurant. They have done their best to keep the food at their best. But I have eaten at their restaurant at the height of their popularity and they served the absolutely best Traditional Korean Royal Cuisine. Unfortunately, all their best dishes are no longer served here. Nonetheless, the dishes that were served were are well-made and delicious, but they are now serving more basic Korean dishes although inspired by Korean Royal Cuisine. SEATING There used to be a general dining area, but now they only have private rooms from smaller rooms that seat 4 people to larger rooms that seat over 40. SERVICE The service was great all around. Since we were a party of 3, we had only one server throughout the whole meal.

What seemed like a deceptively simple bowl was one of the most delicious and flavorful meals I've had - I'll be thinking about my bowl for a long time. I got the plain kalgaksu, mainly because it included pork potstickers. The anchovy broth isn't fishy (which I was concerned about), it's deep and full in a way that's hard to describe. It penetrates the noodles and potatoes well. The broth is similar if not the same between most bowl types. The cold noodles were also delicious, which a couple of my friends ordered. Quite large portions, as just about everyone had to take some home. They also have bibimbap if you're craving a rice based meal instead. I can't wait to come back - maybe not on a Saturday night next time so I don't have to look so long for parking!

I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
