Leeks dumpling

As a regular customer, again after the pandemic, I must confess that everything is back to normal & tastes as good as before! Price and taste are back to normal. If you want to eat-in, though, they don't emphasize in cleanliness of the tables. But they are very friendly and price per value compared to other dimsum places are incomparable -- cheaper than par. So, enjoy & bon appetite!

If you're not wanting to deal with the long lines at sit down dimsum places and don't care for the occasional rush hour lines, this is your spot for TO-GO dimsum. Well it's mine :) Some of the staff is friendly and some can be just very matter of fact. So don't take it personal. You can pay via cash or credit card. You order at the start of the line and make your way from the pan fried stuff to the steamed stuff to finally the baked stuff. Most of the items have 3-4 items in one order. Prices are decent from all under $6, but everything has gone up in price this year. The food is OK, not gonna lie. It's average and edible but not like amazing. But if you're hungry and you want more, it's good pretty good variety of basic stuff. They also have roasted pork and BBQ right next door in case you wanna take some to go. If you are hungry and want to eat there, they have plenty of tables that not very many people sit at right in front of the cafe, next to the supermarket. They do close on Wednesdays. There's also plenty of parking in the shared lot.

02/03/2024 I've heard of Yum Cha Cafe but the bigger sign says Dim Sum Cafe. Doesn't matter, I am getting a watch adjusted at one of the nearby booths so I stopped here for snacks. There's a short line and it does go quick. You could get a full dish like hainan chicken or roasted pork. The dim sum is to the right where you could point and call it out. I ordered the beef rice noodles and BBQ pork baked buns. The pork buns were cold and doesn't have the glossy honey top I'm used to seeing. So you should get the steamed BBQ pork buns instead. Otherwise, if you are taking it home, you could bling this out yourself. Behind the counter, these people are hustling so instead of my original rating, it's higher marks and stars.

Roast Turkey

We've only ever gotten their roasted turkey here every Thanksgiving but holy moly what a turkey! Not only is it hot and ready for you to carve and eat when you pick it up, it is delicious! It's always flavorful all throughout and the white meat is always tender and the dark meat is even better. Way better than any other turkey we've had anywhere else! Plus, you get a free takeout box of sticky rice "stuffing" and some chicken baos with every turkey order. It was about $78 in total for a 10-ish pound turkey which we think is a great deal as you don't need to spend hours cooking it yourself or have to take it home and heat it up before serving. Highly recommend putting in your order with them every year for Thanksgiving!

Turnip Cake, Stuffed Peppers, Soy Sauce Rice Rolls, Spareribs, Fried Glutinous Rice Dumplings, and Chicken Feet.

This is my family's go-to dim sum spot for takeout. It's the most affordable one around. Every time my parents come to visit me, they always buy a variety. For only $25-30, you can easily get enough food to feed a family of four. During these inflation times, this is a sweet deal! Some of my favorites are the chicken feet, daikon cake, and rice rolls. If you're looking for dim sum on a budget, come here.

The man staff who's been there for many years is very friendly. Location is perfect right next to SF supermarket, used to be San Gabriel supermarket. 2 stars only because price has gone up exponentially but quality has gone down. 4 piece of regular size sho Mai $4.69!!! See chicken bun with microscopic meat. Missed the old yum cha

We picked up a turkey here for Thanksgiving. It also came with complimentary sticky rice and buns. Everything was pretty good and the turkey was huge. It was able to feed more than 15 people and we still had a lot of leftovers. Free and easy to find parking in the parking lot. Service was good here. Hopefully we can come back and try their dim sum.

Egg Tarts

If you been to the San Gabriel Superstore, then you know there's a dim sum place hidden inside. For those who have never heard of Dim Sum Cafe, it's a small restaurant inside the San Gabriel Superstore, that's close to the entrance of the store tucked away in the corner. So the parking is the same as if you were going to the San Gabriel Superstore. The food here is close to authentic as you can get and at a pretty decent price. Prior to the pandemic, they had tables scattered around for those who wanted to dine in. Now all the tables are pushed to the side and there's a long line of customers waiting to order dim sum. If you never been here, word of warning you may find the service to be a bit more abrasive, pushy, and loud. Take no offense as this is just how they are. They just want to get people what they want and as quickly as possible. In my latest visit, I ordered the same old items I had ordered before and the quality is still there. I ordered chicken feet, pineapple buns, baked pork buns, and egg tarts. The chicken feet were the best part. It was cooked in a way where the skin and meat just fell off the bones. Next up I would rate the egg tarts as my second best item. The egg to tart ratio was perfect. There was more egg than the tart shell. It was nice and crispy! If you're in the mood for dim sum filler items like the buns, the pineapple custard buns and baked pork buns are the way to go. With dim sum you can just keep eating every little but of everything and not really get full, so that's where the buns come in. The pineapple custard buns are different from the ones you find at other dim sum spots because they are more oblong and oval shaped than the normal round ones. I find that shape for the best and easy bites. They also sell noodles, wonton soups, chicken, roast duck and roast pork. So if you're in the mood are in need of those food items, it's your one stop shop. I would recommend stopping here if you finished shopping or just craving some dim sum.

Pro: Convenient, food is already made so you do not need to wait for your food after you ordered, and the price is affordable. Con: Food tasted okay. Their siu mai are extremely small & dry.

Phoenix feet, sui mai, egg tarts
Sam W.

Honestly I don't remember how bad the food is I. This place. The Phoenix feet is so small, taste blend, the sui mai is so small, some grapes are larger. It's hard, I mean it takes some effort to bite it. The egg tart? I don't even know what to say. Does not look good. I only stop here because I have to pickup my nephew from school. Never eat this again.

Simple Chinese Deli bakery located inside SG Super Store. My first time here as my friend insisted we stop here to get Char Sui Bow to take home. I ordered a dozen Steamed Char Sui Bow ( Pork Buns) , a dozen Baked Char Sui Bow and a dozen Don Tot ( Egg Tarts ) The portions are much smaller than those at most bakeries. The Char Sui Bows were freshly made right out of the oven. I especially enjoyed the Don Tot . The drive from San Gabriel to Santa Clarita , I ate 6 of them. Their portions are small, basically 3 bites. Like many eateries located inside a Asian Supermarket , there's high customer flow and business thrives

Three key points: (1) there are no push carts here, (2) the space is quite small with only 6 tables - ideally suited for groups of 4 or fewer people, and (3) there is no restroom available. [Parking]: Hong Kong Dim Sum House shares the same plaza parking lot as other popular spots like Bopomofo Cafe and Golden Deli, so come before 10 AM if you want an excellent chance of finding an available parking spot. [Menu]: Yelp's top highlighted items are #1 Shrimp Har Gow, #6 Chicken Feet, #5 Spare Rib in Garlic Sauce, #3 Shrimp Shiu Mai, #31 Fried Sugar Cane Shrimp, #17 Shrimp Rice Roll, and #9 Steamed BBQ Pork Bun / #25 Baked BBQ Pork Bun. Tea = $1 per person. *** #1 Shrimp Har Gow ($7.70) & #3 Shrimp Shiu Mai ($7.70): All pieces were juicy and flavorful. #5 Spare Rib in Garlic Sauce ($7.70): A solid option with squash pieces. #6 Chicken Feet ($7.70): Amazing texture - the skin fell apart very easily. *** Overall the food was a bit expensive, but the quality was excellent and comparable to Lunasia. This is a great spot for people who don't care too much about certain amenities or somewhat hefty prices and simply want high-quality food (or consider the takeout option instead).

I heard about their AYCE dim sum promo but that actually made me not want to come because I knew the wait would've been very long, and I hate waiting for a table just to eat. Fast forward to tonight and a suggestion was made to try the $14.88 dinner special at Bistro 1968. Here's my honest review of my experience. * Parking - Self parking behind the restaurant. I came on a Monday night dinner time , and there was only 2 cars in the entire lot. The parking lot was very creepy as it was't too well lit. I could see the kitchen from the structure because the backdoor was left opened. There were boxes and junk littered around the area. * You have to walk through a long hallway from the parking lot to get to the restaurant. There are signs to guide you, but if you're going there for the first time, it could be a bit confusing. * We got there at 7pm and there was only 1 table of customers. I honestly don't know how to describe the decor because it depends on which part of restaurant you're looking at. * Staff were all VERY nice. They gave us free dessert (Egg Tarts and Pineapple Buns) so that was awesome. * Food - I ordered the Fried Fish but it wasn't fully cooked. Some parts were still raw so it had a fishy taste. We ate a few pieces but left most of it untouched. Everything else was pretty much okay except for its temperature - it was lukewarm. Nothing was piping hot except for the steamed Pork Spareribs from their all day dim sum menu. * There were some small gnats that kept flying around and when one actually landed in my food, I just stopped eating altogether. * No alcohol available but definitely not a huge deal. Their staff are so nice that I actually feel bad about not writing a positive review about the establishment, but I really just don't see how I am able to rate it any higher than 2 stars. I don't think I will be coming back.

Highlights: -#5 har gow (aka crystal shrimp dumplings) was so plump and jam packed with shrimp! The skin was so chewy too. Delicious! -#25 black sesame with red bean paste was so fresh! It was crisp and chewy without feeling too heavy from the oil, if you stop at one that is haha -#6 siu mai was also so jam packed with meat and juicy! Still worth mentioning that the turnip cake was delicious in flavor but just not a highlight because it was on the mushier side. I'd still get it again though! Also, my partner really enjoyed the congee. I didn't try it though. Areas that can be improved: -the lotus sticky rice was a little lacking in flavor and meat. -the Cheung fun although had generous amounts of shrimp, it lacked bounce in the rice noodle. Maybe because it was cold by the time we ate it. -to reduce paper consumption, I recommend using laminate dry erase for the menus so they can be reused. Just an idea/suggestion!
