This used to be a Winchell's. I haven't been in here since trying it out in 2000. Because it was local enough, a friend picked it as a meeting/study place. I asked for ice tea. Well, they don't have ice tea. And that's where it stopped. It did cross my mind to teach them to make instant ice tea. Very much like OTHER places make ice tea on-the-go. You get a cup and put in it a tea bag, pour in a quarter cup of hot water, wait till it darkens, then add ice and water to "make" ice tea. But then I thought about it. If OTHER coffee places can figure this out, and Yum Yum corporate can't, I wouldn't want to put the employee in the position to have to, in complete disbelief, turn down another request for ice tea. But it still smelled like the powder sugar perfume of Winchell's. So we left to go to Grounds. read more

Went in last night at around 9:30pm and was amazed how clean the place was! Impeccably clean compared to other locations. And the Latino guy who was there by himself last night it seemed, was friendly, courteous and smiled the whole time. And the BEST pineapple fritter ever!! read more

Sah-weet - I love this donut shop - it's right next to my daughter's school so we sometimes pop in here before school for a little snack if we are super early. They have lots of varieties of donuts, decent coffee, kale juice (!), croissants, and little "bags" already made up with prettily decorated donuts!! It's generally very clean and there is lots of comfortable seating - like nice, solid, heavy chairs and tables. They also have a TV playing. It's a nice rainy night and thought a dozen donuts for the house would be nice. Positives are only cosmetics... the donuts itself tastes like it's been sitting on the case for hours. Very rubbery, stale, and the frosting is way to runny. It's like eating a sponge dipped in sugar water- which may even be better than the donuts they make. Even the plain ones don't have much flavor. I would avoid this place. Save you $8.50 because you are better off buying the box of donuts in the grocery store! read more

Night service was not great. For me service is important. When I arrived the person asked what I wanted. No smile no hello. As soon as I opened my mouth for I hesitated, he walked away and started to place donuts in the fridge and went into another room. It wasn't 2 min later did he give me his full attention. I didn't feel I was in a friendly place. There were no napkins at the counter. I asked for a larger bag for I got a chocolate bar and bagel and his response was, this is long beach. My boyfriend and I came here instead of our usual trip to McDonald's. I guess I expected better but I shouldn't have. It was decent. They don't use real eggs in their breakfast sandwiches and although the lady who helped us was very nice, she took our order in a strange way. She first took my order, made it, then took my boyfriend's order and made it, then she charged us. Most places will take the full order, charge, then let you know when it's ready. Horrible customer service. I know this is just a donut shop and that I shouldn't expect much but when the employee acts like he doesn't know what I'm talking about just so he can get out of making a sandwich at 4am, its horrible customer service. One morning I went in and he knew exacting what I was talking about when I asked for a Veggie Bagel Sandwich, but he left the avacado stem in it, I believe on purpose because he looked irritated that I ordered a sandwich so early in the morning. So since then, when I go in there and hes working I just order something else. But this morning when I went in I decided screw it, just going to order what I actually want.. he acted like there was a language barrier and that he couldn't understand what I was asking for. I even tried to break it down for him. Vegetable. Lettuce. Bagel. Sandwich. ??? Really, he could've made the damn sandwich in the time it took for me trying to explain the thing. I'm not racist, my fiance is Mexican, but maybe put someone that understands English if there really IS a language barrier. But if my hunch is correct and he is just trying to get out of doing his job, I'd recommend getting rid of employees that want to act dumb. read more

I'm not one to rate chains but this particular donut store is fabulous (not speaking for all the other locations). Its open 24hrs with good service, officers bagel sandwiches, iced coffee drinks, and croissants. My family has actually owned a donut store in the past and I have to say this place make great donuts. They aren't too sweet like krispy kremes's and have a slight crispy texture when you bite into them. read more

Great price for a healthy meal! AND the sandwiches are made while I wait...so they are fresh! I love the choice of bagels which are then toasted and I get to watch while my food is prepared, even asked how I want my sandwich prepared. Wide selection of drinks (hot or cold). The wait time is minimal. AND the owner/manager knows my name, greets me when I walk in, and chats while he prepares my meal. This is an awesome alternative to the Jack or McD that are on either side...no recognition of all the business that I have given their places. It is so worth to park your car and walk ten steps into Yum Yum's and be treated like family to a sandwich freshly prepared. Thanks for making my quick food establishment an easy decision. read more

This place has the bombest donuts pretty much always stocked up. I come here at 1am and they have every type of donut imaginable ready to go. I do not live in this area, and the donut shops by my place (hermosa beach) are pretty much disgusting compared to this. They like to throw fruity pebbles on just about every type of donut they make! Love my morning donuts at Yum Yum, brightens up my day.. This place is not your ordinary donut shop and sell more than donuts. hot sandwiches, fresh squeezed juices, macaroons, cold iced drinks and varied coffee drinks. it has a comfy Large big screen tele room with tables and chairs but like the bright clean fresh updated look of place has Wi FI and open 24hrs. but most importantly the donuts are fresh, great selections. new frosting on donuts are done up in new colors but they have your traditional style too. Yum yum is an upscale donut shop for me , i dont mind the prices, my fave are the 6 mini donuts and fresh juiced drinks, spinach or the red beet juices. one last info they bought Winchell's. now, go get your Yum Yum! read more

Unfortunately when you have a sweet tooth, sometimes the sweet tooth, takes presidence, and quality takes a back seat, and just fufilling the sweet tooth takes the front seat. As I am familiar with all little donut shops, which I do enjoy very much, since they are usually better than the comercial shops such as duncan, and krispy creme. This shop actually makes me want to run to the nearest krispy creme donuts!!!! The plae does not look like much but this does not matter. I decided to order a french kreller, and a regular donut with icing on it. Upon biting into this donut my mouth wasn't delighted with a sweet pastrie, rather it was tormented with a stale piece of fried bread with a substance that was supposed to be icing but tasted like a cardboard box. Since I paid for these things I decided to finish them, as throwing food away is basically showing your creator how ungratefull you are for his provisions to you. But lets just say one trip was enough to satisfy my sweet tooth, at the supermarkets in the area. I honestly don't think the donuts would taste any different even if they were made fresh, the icing was defenitley the ice breaker, so with the icing being so bland, and tasteless it broke the donut. So if you love donuts, or any sweets for that matter, I would look elsewhere. read more

Went here over the weekend. Ordered an apple juice and one devil's food donut. My hubby ordered a glazed donut, orange juice, and a egg and ham croissant. My apple juice was lukewarm and my donut dry, plus the batter on the inside wasn't all chocolate it looked like part plain donut. My husband said his juice was good, but his donut was hard and he didn't finish it. The croissant sandwich seemed to take forever to make. It was over 20 minutes after we sat down to enjoy our juice and donuts that my hubby had to go to the counter to find out where his sandwich was - only to find out that they had just started making it. Wow...okay. Anyway, while waiting for the croissant, and trying to have a conversation, the TV they have in there was way too loud for the amount of seating space. Playing on the TV was not the morning news or maybe sports, nope it was a cartoon being shown and the language was in Spanish. Okay, well there were no children, and it was just two elderly Caucasian women, myself and hubby (no habla espanol for us) and an Asian guy by himself. We looked for a channel changer because we could hardly talk to each other with the loud cartoon but with no luck, by this time the croissant was ready and we left. When I'm up for a sugar fix, they have some pretty amazing cinnamon rolls. Doughnuts everywhere are pretty hit and miss depending on the time of day, unless you're getting one within minutes of frying. I mostly come here for the sandwiches and breakfast burritos which are incredible.
